Awww Applesauce!
Two fillies learn a secret
Previous ChapterApple Bloom and Babs scurried off early the next day. Granny Smith and Big Mac were left looking at each other with wide eyes as the fillies bolted down the road into the thick of the fair.
"They barely slept! Uh, what I would give for even half that energy," complained Granny Smith.
"Eyup," replied Big Mac.
Babs was so excited by the things at the fair. Many of them were new to her. Several times Apple Bloom had to backtrack to find her gawking at a game or food she had never seen before.
"I'm sorry," giggled Babs as Apple Bloom used her head to shove her away from a pie-eating contest.
"We still have two whole days here but cousin Braeburn and his friend are leaving tonight, ah wanna see'em before then," Apple Bloom explained for what seemed to her like the thousandth time.
"Alright, we're goin already, sheesh," replied Babs.
The rest of the walk went better. Babs had not stopped since the last time and they finally made it to Braeburns tent.
"Howdy cousin!" chirped Apple Bloom as she strode into the camp circle.
"Well hey there y'all," replied Braeburn as he exited his tent. "How ya enjoying the fair?" he asked.
"It's fun!" Apple Bloom and Babs replied in unison.
Pine Forest who had been dozing in a chair near their dead campfire adjusted himself to a proper position and lifted his hat off his eyes. Apple Bloom looked over at the stallion grinned.
"Hey who yer friends Braeburn?" asked Pine Forest.
"Oh these here are more of my cousins," replied Braeburn. He then pointed to each respectively and introduced them by name. "This here is Applejacks little sis, Apple Bloom. And this is our cousin from the big city, Babs Seed."
Pine Forest rose to his hooves and removed his hat then nodded at them both. "Howdy fillies," he said.
"H-hi," Apple Bloom stammered with a slight blush on her cheeks. She couldn't help it, the stallion was handsome.
Babs rolled her eyes at Apple Bloom. "So why are you leaving the fair tonight?" she asked Pine Forest.
Pine Forest looked at Braeburn for a moment. Braeburn took a seat next to the the fillies.
"I have to meet a pony about a piece of land. Pine Forest here raises bee's, he needs some new land for his bee's," Braeburn explained.
"Oh! Your the stallion from the jar!" blurted out Babs.
"Heh, yes that's me. Fresh Forest Honey!" replied Pine Forest with a sharp note of pride in his voice.
"With the new land he can expand, Then we can start making combined products with apples and honey," added Braeburn.
"Like what?" asked Apple Bloom.
"Mead," said Pine Forest.
Braeburn shot the stallion an irritated look. Pine Forest noticed but chose not to acknowledge it in any way. Apple Bloom and Babs glanced at each other confused, then turned their attention back to the two stallions.
"What is mead?" asked Babs.
"Nothing, an adult drink. More importantly, we can make pies and candy," Braeburn said quickly to change the topic.
"Mmm apple pie with honey, that sounds good," said Apple Bloom.
"We don't have any of that with us. I do have some of our sample candy if y'all want some?" said Braeburn.
"Sure!" the two fillies replied in unison again.
Braeburn got up from his chair, opened the flap to his tent and went inside. Apple Bloom and Babs stepped into the entrance to see what he was doing. Suddenly Babs got excited and charged into the tent.
"Woa cool costume!" chirped Babs. She trotted over to the golden dragon costume sitting on a bench across from the door. She admired the lava red spikes and shiny golden scales before fumbling to play with the head of the costume.
Braeburn was on a stool going through a box on the top of a pile of larger boxes when the filly ran inside his tent. He looked over the see her starting to play with his costume. Knowing what he had done it and what it was for he immediately became nervous and lost his balance.
"Wait d-don't!" shouted Braeburn as he fell from the stool and crashed into the pile of boxes.
"Are you ok?" Apple Bloom asked as she ran to his side.
"Yea, I'm ok, just... Y'all don't touch that costume alright?" replied Braeburn as he stood back up.
"Sorry Braeburn, I didn't mean to make ya mad," replied Babs as she set the head of the costume back down.
"Oh, I'm not mad, it's just... ah... well, it's a... fragile costume, not done yet," said Braeburn as he lifted the box he wanted to a table in the middle of the tent.
"I love costumes, my favorite is my wolf costume," Babs told him as she came up to the table across from him.
Braeburn thought about Babs in a wolf costume but the image was quickly replaced with one of the mare in her timberwolf costume the night before. His eyes grew wide and he shook his head to get the images to clear.
"Ah that's a cool costume Babs," said Braeburn after a second.
The two fillies looked at each other in confusion again. They remained silent as he filled a bag with goodies for them to take back to camp.
"I'ma clean this up and start packing, y'all go on ad enjoy the fair'n be sure ta share that candy," Braeburn told them as he gave them the bag.
"That's cousin Braeburn," Apple Bloom sang as she left the tent goodie bag in hoof.
"Yes thanks a lot, cousin," added Babs as she followed Apple Bloom.
Pine Forest said a quick goodbye and the two fillies were off down the road once more.
Apple Bloom and Babs spent most the day in the fair, but after staying up most the night before and getting up as early as they did they soon found themselves tired and in need of a real meal. Looking fatigued but happy the two fillies hobbled into camp and collapsed on their bedspreads. After a few moments in the quiet of their tent, they noticed Granny Smith and Applejack talking in the tent next door.
Granny Smith set down a glass of water for Applejack. She then sat down in the chair next to Applejacks bed. Applejack sat up and took a drink from the glass.
"Feeling better?" asked Granny Smith.
"Much better," replied Applejack.
"I mean last night. Got what was bugging ya outa yer system huh?" Granny Smith smirked as she pointed her right forehoof at the lazily stowed away costume in the trunk nearby. "I attended a few of those parties in my day."
Applejack looked at her elder mare in shock. Granny Smith simply nodded and laughed.
"I don't suspect I'll be try'n that again honestly," said Applejack.
"I dressed as a timber wolf life you too," giggled Granny Smith.
"Ah Granny I really don't wanna discuss that," Applejack complained.
"Don't be such a prude filly. What was your partner dressed as?" Granny Smith asked.
"Nothing, I mean obviously something but... I mean..." said Applejack. The words she needed were not coming to her.
"Was it partner's' then?" added Granny Smith.
"No, it certainly was not! It was one and he was dressed as a dragon," replied Applejack in irritation.
Babs and Apple Bloom were not quite sure what Applejack and Granny Smith were talking about a first. Then Babs put it together.
"Your sister went to the sex club!" giggled Babs.
"Shut up, she did not!" snapped Apple Bloom.
"She so did, she dressed as a timberwolf and seduced a stallion dressed as a dragon," said Babs with a big grin.
"That can't be what they are talking about!" Apple Bloom tried to deny it.
Applejack opened her chest and shoved the costume inside it better. She then turned to face her elder mare.
"Oh good choice, was one of my favorites too," said Granny Smith.
"Ah Granny, it's not... I don't have a favorite. I branched out a little to relieve some stress but it's over, can we stop talk'n about this now?" Applejack explained.
"Now first you pass out drunk in the middle of the fair and then I catch you with that costume. You should know better than ta think I ain't gonna tease you some," said Granny Smith.
"I know sometimes I get a little crazy at the fair, but I am not going to that club ever again," replied Applejack. Though in the back of her mind she wasn't really sure if that was in fact true. She had fun that night, why not go back?
"I was always a sucker for a shiny blue dragon costume," said Granny Smith.
"His was golden, with lava red spikes, and bright orange eyes..." Applejack started to say. "... But I'm done talk'n about it, ah need to start supper," she finished.
"Alright, let's go," Granny Smith laughed as she followed Applejack out of the tent.
Apple Bloom sat in her tent in complete shock. With wide eyes, she tried telling herself she had not just heard everything they listened to. Babs sat across from her with her forehooves covering a big smile.
"That was totally Braeburns costume!" giggled Babs.
"Shut up," said Apple Bloom.
"It had to be his, gold, lava red spikes..." giggled Babs some more.
"No it wasn't," Apple Bloom tried to deny.
"Think about it, that why he acted so weird when I touched it," said Babs.
Apple Bloom continued to stare blankly forward for several minutes. Eventually, Babs lost her smile and sat staring at Apple Bloom. She was a little afraid of what the farm fillies reaction was really going to be. Then Apple Bloom finally spoke again. Ahe thrust her forehooves over her eyes and threw herself on the floor of the tent.
"Horsefeathers! Ma sister screwed our cousin," she groaned.
"Gah, hahaha!" Babs started laughing uncontrollably.
Apple Bloom let out an irritated grumble as Babs rolled about their tent in a fit of laughter.
"Oh, sweet Celestia that it messed up!" laughed Babs loudly.
"Will you quiet down? We don't need them to hear this," snapped Apple Bloom.
Babs calmed down after a few seconds and looked at Apple Bloom. "Aren't you going to tell her?" she asked.
"Heck no! Neither will you!" replied Apple Bloom.
"Why?" asked Babs.
"Let me handle this my way, ok?" answered Apple Bloom.
Babs agreed not to say a word to anypony about what they had just learned. Supper came and the two fillies ate with the family with an awkward tension on Apple Blooms end. When night fell Apple Bloom remained awake thinking about her sister and Braeburn in disgust. Babs Seed lay across the tent from her, also unable to sleep. Babs mind was also on Applejack and Braeburn that night, but for her, it was a comedic and perverse train of thought.
Applejack waved said goodbye to Braeburn and Pine Forest and turned in after sundown. She lay in her tent resting peacefully, blissfully unaware that she had accidentally scored with the wrong stallion the night before. She re-lived the fun she had in her dreams all night.
