Knock! Knock! Knock!
Vinyl stirred in her bed, still asleep and completely unaware of anything else
“Vinyl, wake up! It’s 4 p.m.” muffled a voice.
Vinyl turned over, slobber from her mouth forming a pool on her bed.
“Vinyl? Ugh Vinyl, so typical of you.”
Vinyl snorted softly in her slumbering sleep in response.
“I have a concert in a hour so I will be back later on in the evening but only in order to get ready for the banquet afterwards.”
Octavia could only hear snoring from Vinyl’s room and she had no more time to waste attempting to wake up Vinyl.
“Ok Vinyl, I have to go. See you later.”
Octavia quickly gathered what else she needed for the concert and almost left the door. She decided to quickly write a note for Vinyl even though she was going to show up to get ready for the banquet later on.
"Vinyl, I left to go to my concert. I will be back afterwards to get ready for a banquet. Love Octavia.", read the note.
Octavia grimaced but knew the note would have to do. She looked back at Vinyl’s closed door, sighed, gathered her things & walked out the door. The door softly groaned as it closed, closing with a small thud.

“Yeah..I’m DJ PON-3..yeah..it’s me” mumbled Vinyl.
Vinyl was still asleep but was still turning around & mumbling to herself. She was having a dream about one of the best gigs she has ever had but her magnificent dream was interrupted by a loud noise. She woke up startled, breathing rather quickly.
“Woah. That..was..AWESOME!”
She got up, cleaning her mouth and stretching. Vinyl looked around her room to see what caused the noise. She saw that her T.V. was on the music channel.
“Hmm..I guess that’s what it was.”
Vinyl yawned and opened her door, completely stunned by the sun’s light as she entered the living room. She raised her hoof to cover her eyes then realized she had sunglasses.
“Pfft..duh. Come on Vinyl” she said to herself.
Vinyl reached for her sunglasses on her horn but did not find them there. She looked around the living room, unable to find the sunglasses until she ended up by the kitchen. There she found a note & her sunglasses.
“Tavi had a concert? Dang, I totally forgot.”
Vinyl continued reading the note & paused at the part about the banquet. As if on cue, the door bell rang & Vinyl could hear Octavia at the door. Vinyl quickly used her magic & put on her sunglasses while rushing over to open the door.
“Hey Tavi, how did it-“
“No time Vinyl, I must get ready!”
Octavia quickly stormed into the house, rushing over to her room.
“Umm ok..uh..I’m sure you did good” Vinyl said.
All Vinyl could hear in response was Octavia quietly cursing as she was still rushing to get ready for the banquet. Vinyl quietly fiddled with her hoofs as she stared at the T.V.
“Vinyl! Vinyl!” Octavia called out.
Vinyl looked up and headed over to her friend’s room and stood in the doorway.
“What’s up Tavi?”
“Vinyl, I need a favor. Mrs. Hooves asked me if I could watch Dinky tonight but I’m not able to obviously as Mrs. Hooves and I are both going to the banquet. Can you watch Dinky tonight?”
Vinyl was just surprised and looked around before she answered.
“Umm I dunno Tavi, I dunno if I’m good with kids” Vinyl stammered, scratching her head.
Octavia was probably the only pony that could make Vinyl so nervous yet so in love. Of course, Octavia didn’t know how Vinyl actually felt about her.
“Please Vinyl, this would mean so much to me!”
Vinyl was hesitant but she nodded, agreeing to watch Dinky. She knew if she was going to go anywhere with Octavia, she had to impress her and this was it.
“Thank you so much Vinyl! Thank you! I’ll let her know right away!”
Octavia went over to Vinyl and hugged her tightly. Vinyl’s cheeks become rosy red as she blushed.
“Umm..uh..you’re welcome Tavi” Vinyl stammered again.
Vinyl couldn’t help but notice how beautiful Octavia looked & was completely mesmerized by her new appearance.
“Wow Tavi, you look great!”
“Awh thanks Vinyl, that is so kind of you to say!"
Octavia smiled at Vinyl before speaking again.
“Well Vinyl I must go. Mrs. Hooves will be here shortly to drop off Dinky. Once again, I really appreciate it Vinyl. I’ll make it up to you; I promise.”
Vinyl nodded and said bye to Octavia as Octavia left for the banquet.
“Well, all I have to do is watch the little filly” Vinyl thought.
She walked over to the living room couch, sat down and watched the T.V. for a little bit.
DING DONG!
Vinyl got up & headed over to the door, opening it to see Derpy & Dinky standing in front of the doorway.
“Hey Mrs. Hooves, what’s up?”
Derpy looked down at Dinky and smiled, reassuring Dinky it was ok. She looked back at Vinyl and smiled, nodding her head. Derpy then waived bye at Dinky & Vinyl and left. Dinky still stood by the door, pouting & looking at the ground in annoyance.
“So..umm..my name is Vinyl and I’m your baby sitter today.”
“I know.” Dinky scuffed, not even looking up.
Vinyl smirked, slightly amused at how Dinky was behaving.
“Well, let’s go inside ok? Come on kiddo” Vinyl chuckled.
Dinky sluggishly followed Vinyl into the house, taking a seat on the couch.
“So Dinky, have you eaten anything?”
Dinky remained unmoved, stubbornly watching the T.V.
“Ok I guess you have. Well I’m kinda new to this babysitter thing and I was thinking maybe we should play-“
“Videogames? Bleh” interrupted Dinky.
“Yeah, I’m sure you’ll like them.”
Dinky turned around and looked over to Vinyl, who was in the kitchen making a sandwich.
“Well I guess I kinda do. Do you have Ultimate Pony 3?”
Vinyl simply just smiled.
“Pfft..of course!”
Dinky giggled with excitement as Vinyl walked into the living room, setting up the game for them to play.
“This is really cool! Super cool!” Dinky exclaimed.
It was amazing how quickly Dinky went from a stubborn pouting filly to an excited young gamer, eager to challenge Ultimate Pony 3.
“I hope you know the combos” Vinyl said.
“Oh don’t worry about me Vinyl, I know everything for this game” boasted a confident Dinky.
Vinyl laughed a little as the game started, using her magic to take her sunglasses off.
“She kinda reminds me of, well, me when I was a filly” Vinyl thought.
Both Dinky & Vinyl actively played the game; at one point, Dinky even stood up and mashed every button she possibly could on the controller. The frustration in Dinky’s face was very obvious as Vinyl was winning the game.
“I’m gonna win Vinyl, you’ll see!” Dinky yelled.
Dinky started giggling with excitement again because she started winning all of the sudden. Of course, this was due to Vinyl losing on purpose, which Dinky didn’t know. Eventually, Dinky won the game and bounced all around the living room, yelling “Haha I told you!” over & over again. She wasted no time relishing her victory over her babysitter & crashed on the couch in victory.
“Haha alright kiddo, you got me” chuckled Vinyl.
Vinyl held out her hoof and Dinky high-hoofed it, saying awesome at the same time.
“So, how about a movie now?” Vinyl said
“Yeah sure but can we watch a scary movie?”
Vinyl started squinting her eyes a little as she looked at the young filly.
“I dunno kiddo, they’re called scary movies for a reason.”
“Oh please, pretty please Vinyl! Pleaseeee!” Dinky begged.
Vinyl was no match for Dinky’s adorable eyes, falling victim to the filly’s persuasive power.
“Dang, she’s just like me” Vinyl thought.
Vinyl smiled & scruffed up Dinky’s mane a little.
“Sure kiddo, let’s watch a scary movie.”
“Yay! Scary movie! Scary movie! Scary movie!” Dinky cheered.
Dinky didn’t even bother to fix her mane as the two of them looked through Vinyl’s collection of movies.
“Let’s see, we can watch either The Pony Killer, Bloody Marey, or Undead Ponies 2.”
“Ooo…ooo..Undead Ponies 2! That sounds awesome!”
“Heh alright kiddo, Undead Ponies 2 it is then.
Vinyl took the movie out & popped it into her game station. After all the previews were done, Dinky & Vinyl got their snacks ready as the movie started to begin.

“So, what did you think of the movie?”
Dinky looked up to Vinyl, who was sitting next to her on the couch. She then hugged Vinyl, which Vinyl did not expect at all.
“It was cool Vinyl, like you. You’re a cool babysitter!”
“Awh thanks kiddo, you’re pretty cool too.”
Vinyl hugged her back and the both of them hugged for quite some time. Finally, Vinyl & Dinky stopped hugging each other and got up to throw away their trash.
“You know Vinyl I hope my mom lets you babysit me again, if you’re ok with that.”
Vinyl thought about her DJ business but waived that thought away as she answered Dinky.
“Yeah sure, if it’s cool with your mom with the whole babysitting thing again.”
Dinky nodded and ran over to the couch, crashing on it like a true couch potato.
“So what now Vinyl?” Dinky asked eagerly.
Vinyl smirked rather filly-ish.
“This!”
Vinyl threw a straw at Dinky and giggled. Dinky started yelling in joy as she grabbed a couch pillow and threw it at Vinyl. Pretty soon, the both of them were just throwing things at each other, giggling & laughing in their messy fun.
DING DONG!
“Sshh! Shhsh!”
Dinky couldn’t help giggling but brought her giggling down dramatically. Vinyl approached the door & opened it. Octavia & Derpy stood at the door, both slightly chuckling at Vinyl’s appearance.
“Wha-? Do I have something on me?”
Octavia smiled and pointed at Vinyl’s horn. Vinyl touched her horn and noticed there was a paper towel roll hanging on it.
“Oh haha didn’t notice that. Wonder how that got there. Well anyways, how did it go for both of you?”
“It was great Vinyl! Mrs. Hooves and I had a great time.”
Derpy nodded & smiled eagerly, awaiting her child. Vinyl was about to turn around & call Dinky but Dinky jumped on her back, startling her & almost making her fall down.
“Woah there Dinky, you almost made me fall heh.”
Dinky couldn’t hold her giggling in anymore and let it out, her giggling echoing from the doorstep.
“Mom, mom, can Vinyl babysit me again? Pwease!” Dinky begged.
Derpy nodded, motioning for Dinky to get off Vinyl. Dinky hopped off Vinyl and gave Vinyl one last hug before saying bye. Vinyl said bye as well, waiving her hoof at Derpy & Dinky.
“Well Vinyl, it looks like Dinky loved you a lot. Very good job Vinyl, I’m impressed.”
Octavia went up to the doorway where Vinyl was and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
“Goodnight then Vinyl.”
Vinyl was paralyzed as her heart melted inside but managed to stutter something.
“Yeah n-no problem Tavi. Nighty night.”
Octavia trotted to her room and looked back at Vinyl one more time, smiling at her before going to sleep. Vinyl closed the front door and turned the living room lights off, crashing back on the couch.
“Nice Vinyl, nice!” Vinyl happily thought to herself.
Vinyl grinned as she watched the T.V., knowing that today was one of the best super awesome days she’s ever had.
