Chapters Twilight woke up from the night before.
"*YAWN* What a good night's sleep can do," said Twilight. She tried to get out of bed but something was on her leg. She pulled the cover and revealed Spike hugging it. He whispered something. "Twilight...." She pushed him off her leg, went out into the main room, thinking.
How did this happen? Must have been a coincidence. That's it.
She heard a yawn from upstairs. The door opened.
"Morning, Twilight."
"Good Morning, Spike."
They had doughnuts and coffee.
"I've got some errands to run. I'll be back soon." With a closing door, Spike was gone. Twilight decided to read about a dragon's hormones and how to tell if dragons are in love. She read one part that said they do odd things in there sleep. With this in mind, she decided to investigate. She went to their room and shut the door. She grabbed Spike's diary from under his blankets in his bed and began to search for the morning entry. She read it:

Morning
Dear Diary, I found out last night that I don't have to worry about becoming a monster thanks to Twilight's information. I see that as long as I have something to keep me occupied or someone to...love, I won't become a monster. I realise if anyone can both keep me in check and love me, it's.....
"Twilight?" She froze in place, mouth wide open and heart rate rising. She couldn't believe it. Her #1 assistant, a baby dragon, loves her and trusts her to keep him in check. She put the diary away and went out to the main room to think.
WHY ME! WHY NOT RARITY?.......That's it! He trusts me so he thinks that since I can keep him in check, he could love me too. That still sounds weird, but now, at least there's an explanation.
Spike returned and sat on the couch. Twilight walked up and he began to show a blush on his face.
"Hi Spike. There's something want to ask you."
"Okay."
"After last night, I've been thinking about if I'm able keep you in check while you mature. I want your thoughts."
"I think you always can lead me the right way and that's why I trust you." He blushed again. She hugged him.
"I'll always be there for you." He started to tear up. After a while, it was getting late. "Come on. Let's go to bed." They said their goodnight to each other and fell asleep.
5 days later, Twilight checked Spike's diary once again:
10/17/2011
Morning
Dear Diary, So far so good. I know she can keep me in check and will be there for me. I'm now convinced. Now, I know she's the one and...It may be a bit of a rush, but I'm gonna tell her how I feel tonight.
She put his diary away and thought about it. She was now convinced that she had feelings for him too. After thinking more, she decided that he should make the first move.
Later that night, Spike returned and waited for Twilight to finish work.
"Uh.....Twilight." He was trembling.
"Yes?"
"Can I talk to you about something?"
"Anything." They sat down on the couch, near the lit fireplace.
"After our talk, I've thought about something for a while. I know you can keep me in line. I trust you. There's something I want to say."
"Yes?"
"I LOVE YOU!" He blurted out, turning away as Twilight sat there. She came up to him and turned him around.
"To be honest, I love you too, Spiky." She then kissed him for a minute. Spike was on cloud nine and heaven at the same time. He broke the kiss, tearing up.
"Why?"
"I read your diary." Before Spike could say anything, she put her hoof in his mouth. "I know your mad. I'd be mad too. But I understand; you were worried about being a monster and trusting me to keep you in check was heartwarming and I now realize, I love you as much as you love me." They then kissed again and hugged and all that. It wasn't sexual. It was warm.
BUT........................
"What the shell?" whispered a mysterious figure in the window. It fled back to Carousal Boutique. The door opened to reveal it to be Sweetie Belle. Rarity was sitting on the couch.
"What happened?" Sweetie came over and sat on the couch.
"It's what you thought, sis. But I don't get why this is so important."
"I'm the queen of love and gossip. I needed to hear this. Thank you, Sweetie Belle." They hugged. "We'll assemble the team later. For now, want to play Super Mario Chess?" Sweetie beamed at the idea and nodded. They began...
I spent a while on this and it turned out great. I originally had the second talk for 12/13/20XX, but it seemed too soon. Hope you like this. Comment please. Good or Bad.
I thought of a twist in the story. Hope you like it.

Twilight had sent messages to her friends to come to the library for a special announcement. Soon enough, all of her friends were gathered.
"What's this about, Twi?" asked Applejack.
"Spike and I...are a couple," Twilight said. They were silent at first.
"That's sweet," Fluttershy said.
"Good for ya'll," Applejack said.
"That's Awesome," Rainbow said.
"........................beautiful," Pinkie said.
"Goody...." Rarity said, grinding her teeth as she looked really pissed off. "May I please use the restroom?"
"In my room. On the left," Twilight answered. Rarity made her way to Twilight's room. But after 10 minutes, Twilight decided that something was wrong. "Uh..Why don't you guys...mingle." She waved for them to continue and they did. She went to her room, went in and closed the door. "Rarity?" The white unicorn was crying her eyes out on Twilight's bed. "Is something wrong?" She looked up and wiped away her tears.
"I have to tell you something you should know." Twilight nodded. "I..........I.......................I.........I'm jealous, okay!" Twilight looked with confusion.
"Of me?" She pointed to herself.
"Yes YOU. Ever since Spike and I fell from when he...you know....turned back into a baby dragon..."
FLASHBACK TO Secret of My Excess:
Flashback Clip
Spike and Rarity were falling out of the sky.
"Rarity, I need to tell you something, just in case we don't make it. I've always sort of had a crush..." Rarity puts a hoof in his mouth and starts to cry. Spike just smiles.
"....I saw him in a new light. He was going to admit his feeling to me. I knew what he was going to say, but it meant so much more that he was going to say it. He wanted to spend his last moments with me..." She began to cry. "I wanted to tell him that I felt the same way. I waited until after he finished work on repairs to tell him. That is until you...said what you said. I..." She got interrupted by a hoof in her mouth.
"I'm sorry. I was just so sure that he needed somepony to keep him in line. I should have told you first." She took out her hoof from said mouth.
"What do you mean? Why would he need somepony to keep him in line?"
"He was worried about becoming a monster again. Turn's out, with help, he can become a better dragon with wings and speech. I wanted to make sure he was in good hands and that he could get in line."
"I'd be glad to keep him in check, as long as you...break it to him so I can..." Twilight raised a hoof.
"Say no more. I trust he's in good hands." She had her eyes closed, keeping a clear expression.
"So, your giving him and I a chance?" She nodded.
"THANK YOU, TWILIGHT! " She hugged Twilight with great strength and started to cry.
"Choking...not....breathing." She lets the purple unicorn go.
"Sorry.......Wait! How will you tell him?"
"I won't. You will." Rarity started to shake.
"Will you at least be in the room to make sure nothing is wrong?" Twilight nodded.
"We'll wait until the others leave to do it." Rarity nodded. They exited the room and mingled.
The other 4 had already left. Spike cleaned up most of the library. Rarity went up to Spike.
"Can we talk?"
"Sure." They walk over to the couch. Spike looked puzzled. "What about?" They sat on the couch. Rarity looks like she's about to explode if she didn't tell him.
"I love you, Spike!" Spike then faints in 2 seconds flat. "Spike.....Hello?....Oh dear." She picked him up and laid him down on the couch. He didn't move a muscle.
4 minutes later...
Spike suddenly woke up. "REALLY?" He shouted to Rarity.
"Yes. Twilight..." Suddenly, Twilight appears out of the darkness.
"I have approved of this because she wanted to tell you but I was too hasty. I wanted to keep you in line, but I now believe Rarity can do it better and love you, too. I give you 2 my best wishes." She disappears.
They go silent for a moment. They think things through.
"So, that means....." Spike gets interrupted by Rarity's lips kissing his. He legs feel like goo. He's on cloud nine and so much more. Heaven and Hell are nothing. Spike breaks the kiss, hugs her and starts to cry. "Thank you." He whispers in her ear before kissing her again. They roll around and Twilight, now in her room looking at them through a door slightly opened, rolls her eyes. She closes the door to leave them, curled up in front of the fireplace.
Any ideas for pacing issues like scenes in between or something? Comment too please.
Prologue - Nighttime Resolve
A dragon. He grows when greedy. A baby dragon has just recently gone through it but became young again. He, however has doubts of staying in his home. He caused so much destruction. He had to repair most of it by himself, with little help. He could become this greedy, mean monster when matured for real. He wouldn't want to hurt his friends and family. He has thought about his options with the best one coming to mind: Running away.
"That's it! After I fix up the last of Ponyville today, I'll run away," He thought. "I don't know where yet, but I can't stay here. I'll kill everyone and destroy Ponyville when I'm older. I can't risk it. I'll just leave a letter with Owlowiscious. He'll give it to Twi. I'll keep my friends and family safe." While finishing repairs, he thought about how sad Twilight would be after he left, but for Spike, it was his best option.
He came home to the library late at night. He made his way slowly and quietly to Owlowiscious.
"Give this to Twilight tomorrow morning." He handed the letter to the bird.
"Hoo." The owl took it.
"I'll take that as a yes." Spike began to pack his things. He had 2 bags: Jewel Stash and Memories. After packing, he put on his Fedora from Cherilee. Just as he was about to open the door, the lights turned on.
"Where do you think your going, baby dragon?" said Twilight. She came down from the stairs and walked up to him.
"Owlowiscious, here." The bird came to Spike. He took back the letter and gave it to Twilight. She read it to herself.
"Spike! Your running away? Why?" She asked him, worried as ever. She started to tear up.
"When I'm older, I'll destroy Ponyville and hurt my friends and especially you. I can't take any chances. I have to leave."
"Spike. I was worried you might do this so I talked to Zecora. She gave me a lesson of Dragon Growth. You should hear this first before making any rash decisions." Spike nodded as they went over and sat on the couch.
Though dragons grow through greed, they can control it as long as they want or need. If they do, I can tell you, they grow wings and, with practice, can still speak things.
"She told me, though dragons grow with greed, they can control it over time if they want to. The best part is that you grow wings if you do and speech is only for those who want to," she told him. Spike was at first skeptical. He realized it was the only other option. He also realized he could now stay in Ponyville. He jumped to her and hugged her, crying all the while.
"T............thank you..........Twilight," he got in.
"Shh...it's okay," she rubbed his back and calmed him down.
"Twilight, Can I sleep with you tonight?"
"Of course, Spiky." They went upstairs and went to sleep.
