Author's Note
I don't know how to do ratings as this is the first story I've ever actually done so please let me know if I should change it.
(Also Yes this is very short, I ran out of ideas that quick I know.)
Crimson
Crimson.
The color seen vibrantly in the patches of roses or seen dull, within the metal confines of a fire truck on its way to a devastating house fire.
The color surrounding and coating the fur of one such resident from ponyville named Fluttershy.
Yet, who caused it?
It had started back in ponyville when everypony was having a normal day. Fluttershy had been out buying a cherry for her little angel who had just had a tantrum before. She wasn't in the best of moods that day as almost nothing had gone right for her. From angel having a tantrum, the other market shops trying to overprice again, to even rarity ditching her for something.
What she couldn't understand however was the vision she got at one point during her day. She suddenly noticed a change in everything around her and as her mind went through a thousand different theories, it all stopped.
Long after Fluttershy finally woke up. As she woke up, she found herself lying in a puddle of something...
Crimson.
She freaked out, jumping up and away from the blood pooling in the ground. She noticed a body, a mangled, cut open, and profusely bleeding body.
She took a look around, seeing blood red bodies skewed around the landscape in various stages of destruction and disarray. Some had knifes in their throats and other had no head on theirs.
All at once she lost all feeling in her body as it tried to comprehend what had happened. There she lay, hooves at her sides, for what seemed like 20 minutes before she made up her mind and started running, trying desperately to get away from all of the death in the town.
She kept running, running, and running. When she lost her breath she kept going, when her legs failed her she flew, when even her wings failed, she still limped, crawled, did whatever she could but the bodies wouldn't leave her mind.
Fluttershy needed somepony to help her, anypony. This whole experience had been jarring, tramumitizing to the poor mare. Maybe the princesses could help? Possibly Celestia, Luna, or Cadence or Twilight...
Twilight.
Would she have died with what seemed like everypony else there? She had to know... If not just for herself, at least for anypony else still alive. And at that she stopped, turned herself around to face the ruined town she had ran from, and headed back in to find what happened to twilight.
25 minutes later.
As she walked up to the crystalline structure that was twilights castle, the smell of death, she had so ignored on the way back, hit her once again. She managed to power through and pushed open the squeaking door finding no resistance and stepped inside. The poorly lit hall echoed her hoofsteps across the crystalline walls of the castle. She eventually came across the map room, which originally had colors of purples and blues before a new color had been introduced into the room...
Deep, Crimson, writing saying only these few words: "Hush now, Quiet now."
She didn't need to look farther to know who's now mangled body it would come from. At that she fell to her flank and let her mane drop over her face. She didn't know how long she had sat there before a new voice emerged, taking over the low speech of her own thoughts.
"Hello. " she greeted with.
H-huh?! Fluttershy responded
Good to know you found my- or should I say our work. the voice responded.
"What a-are y-you?!" she said.
"I'm you. Who else would I be?" The voice returned.
"N-no you aren't, you aren't me! GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" she screamed, in vain hope of scaring the voice out of her head.
"I couldn't if I wanted to, because I'm just an extra consciousness, not a separate body. All this destruction wasn't caused by me either." the voice explained.
"T-Then who c-caused it?" she retorted.
At that, the demonic voice cackled for what felt like an hour but was merely 10 minutes, not that Fluttershy would have known.
Why that would be you of course. the voice finished with.
And with that, the voice silenced.
And Fluttershy was alone again
All alone.
Alone.
Fluttershy broke down then, collapsing to the ground to look at her blood-coated hooves. Why did it have to hurt her so much?
After what was most likely half an hour she finally stirred, wiping long dried tears from her eyes.
"First I found everypony dead in ponyville, now Twilight? This has to be a dream, it has to be!" she lied to herself, not knowing if it really was.
She got a realization at that moment, what about her other friends, where had they gone?
And with that, she got up to her hooves, took one last look at her mangled friend, and headed out the door.
20 minutes later.
There she stood, in front of rainbow's house, with the door already slightly ajar, she peeked in, cringing back at the smell of copper. Finding courage to find her friend, she stepped across the threshold in to her home.
That was her first mistake.
Rainbow's body was on the couch, laying as if she was living a normal life, watching the TV. But one thing was off about the body.
The wings were gone.
Fluttershy cried out, running without any hesitation. She never would have known that rainbow had not only lost her wings but the back of her entire body, just what was immediately visible.
The result was similar for her other friends she visited after, it being that her friends main thing being removed and being the reason they died.
Pinkie had lost her front hooves, her hair had been shaved off, and a kitchen knife was stuck in her mouth out of the back of her throat, with a cupcake stuck on the end of the blade.
Applejack had lost her back legs entirely and had a machete, with an apple stuck through, sticking her against a wall, with her Stetson shredded next to her.
But as she walked up the steps to Rarity's home, something took hold of her, invading her body and changing her mind. As the being forced its way into her mind, a figure walked around a corner and started stepping towards her. As it came closer she was forced to the ground and found herself staring nearly face-to-face with the being. It then spoke to her...
"Hush now, Quiet now, it's time to go bed."
"Hush now, Quiet now, it's time to form the dead."
And her mind snapped...
All at once she was pulled back to reality to find herself staring at the front door to Rarity's home.
She found that almost nothing had changed except for her mindset, her thoughts were dominated by death, but not in the way she thought. She desired to kill all in ponyville because her mind told her it wasn't fair, she became...jealous. Everyone there was faster, or stronger, or more confident, or more talented, it angered her.
She decided to pull back her hoof and knock twice. Rarity soon answered inviting her in.
Fluttershy asked her what she had been doing that was so important as to skip their spa date and Rarity excused herself to go and retrieve the dress she said she had been making. When she came back she was wearing a vibrant dress beautifully adorned with roses and Rarity soon revealed the true meaning to be the red color associated with love and commitment of a true relationship and friendship. Ironic, Fluttershy thought, for that had been the exact opposite of how rarity had been acting that day.
Rarity would never have seen what was coming next, nor would have Rainbow, or Twilight, or anypony else in ponyville.
The only thing known in ponyville at that point was the deep red shade that adorned the walls of every house, and the streets of every corner, and the bodies of everypony present. The color that adorned the red roses left on a dress in a boutique, and the red that used to make up a local store with now broken glass and broken bodies. The color of...
Crimson.
And Fluttershy now enjoyed Every. Last. Inch of it.
