By the way, I know I said Ocellus was going to be a big part of this, but the more I think about, I think Gallus would fit this part a little better.
Time to Go
The school bell rang and the students poured out of the classrooms. Summer vacation was only a day away and everyone was excited. Well, almost everyone. Sandbar slowly walked down the hall with his ears drooping. Yona caught up with him and could see the colt wasn't very happy.
"Why Sandbar so down," the yak asked.
"School's nearly over," the colt replied.
"Isn't vacation good thing?"
"It is, but I don't want to leave you, or the others."
Yona looked confused. "Yona feels fine. What wrong with friends?"
"It's nothing, it's just... I don't want you to leave." The yak now knew what her colt friend meant.
"Sandbar doesn't have to be sad. Yona and friends come back after summer."
"You sure you couldn't stay?"
"Yaks' don't like hot weather. Snow much more comfortable and fun."
Sandbar chuckled. "Unless you're stuck in a snow storm." Both shared laughed as they walked down the hall. "I wonder where the others are."
Gallus and the rest of the girls were meeting up in the lounge to rest after a long day of lessons. "I can't believe school is almost over," Silverstream sighed.
"It's pretty hard to believe," Ocellus said. "I wonder what we'll do in the future."
"I don't know," Smolder said.
"I'd want to travel across the world," Silverstream said. "Maybe I could do that by becoming a Wonderbolt."
Smolder rolled her eyes while Ocellus looked towards Gallus. He didn't seem to be focusing that much. "What about you, Gallus?" the changeling asked.
"Huh?" the griffon asked confused.
"Were you even listening to us?" the dragon asked.
"No, why should I? We're going to come back here for two more years."
"You sound pretty angry," Silverstream said. "Is something wrong?"
"No, it's fine." The griffon crossed his arms and sat back in the sofa.
"You sure you're fine?" Smolder asked. The griffon just grumbled in response.
"Alright," Ocellus said. "I think might actually become a teacher. Maybe at this school." Smolder chuckled at this.
"I thought a book bug would want to spend more time at this school." After hearing this, Gallus seemed to sulk lower in his seat. "You think dragons would have an easier time getting a job in Ponyville?"
"Maybe on a rock farm," Silverstream said. "Professor Pinkie lived on one, remember? I honestly thought only dragons could eat rocks."
"We eat gems. Rocks don't really have flavor."
"What friends talking about?" Yona asked. She and Sandbar had just walked in and only heard the end part of the conversation.
"We're just talking about what we're going to do after we graduate."
"Oh. Yona thinks she'll move to Ponyville. Ponies and yaks good friends now."
"So are dragons, changelings, griffons, and hippogriffs," Ocellus stated. "It's pretty amazing that all us used to be so apart."
"Amazing," Gallus said sarcastically. "It's almost the most amazing thing in the world."
"You okay?" Sandbar asked.
"I'm fine."
"You sure?" Silverstream asked.
"I'm pretty sure." By the tone of his voice, he wasn't fine.
"You want to talk about something?" Sandbar asked.
"I just need some space!" Gallus cried. He flew off at high speed leaving behind his surprised friends.
"Maybe we should take his word for it," Ocellus said.
"You guys want to talk?" Silverstream asked.
"A little," Sandbar said. He sat was Gallus was a moment ago as his ears drooped.
"You're feeling alright?"
"Just... A little down."
"Sandbar sad that friends going away for vacation," Yona declared.
"You know we'll be back," Smolder said.
"Yeah, I know that," the colt sighed. "It's just not going to be the same without you guys."
"There's nothing stopping us from visiting," Silverstream said.
"I guess that's true." Yona sat next to her coltfriend and nuzzled him. "Yona."
"Yak can't help it." The girls giggled at the sight while Yona and Sandbar blushed.
"Did you hear about what the professors have planned for us tomorrow?" Ocellus asked.
"Final exam?" Smolder asked.
"Actually, they're planning a farewell party. Professor Pinkie's actually cooking as we speak."
"So that's what she was cooking," Silverstream said as her excitement rose again. "You think she'll make a cake."
"Of course," Smolder said. "I'll be surprised that she'll make several." The friends laughed as they were unaware that a certain griffon was listening from behind the corner. Gallus was breathing heavily as he tried to hold back some emotions, but he was struggling to do so.
Later, that evening, Sandbar decided to walk around the outside of school. He walked around for a while until he came across Gallus. The griffon was lying in the fielding letting out a sigh. "Penny for your thoughts?" Sandbar asked.
"Just leave me alone," the griffon sighed.
"Look, Gallus, you remember the last time you hid a secret from us. You really want to keep a secret for the whole summer?"
"I'd rather keep one than head home."
"You mean Griffonstone?"
"Yeah." Gallus looked like he was trying to sulk into the ground.
"Look, I feel the same way. You could stay at my house if you want."
"What?"
"It's a nice place. You could stay there after the su..."
"I'm good." Sandbar was a bit surprised by his friend's response.
"Well, do you at least want to walk and talk?" The griffon rolled his eyes and followed the pony towards town.
"So, you talked about anything else besides what you may or may not do?"
"Well, we were talking about the farewell party tomorrow. We were just guessing by the dessert Professor Pinkie was going to make."
"Let me guess, all of them?"
"Heh, that's what Silver guessed too."
Gallus rolled his eyes. "Of course. What did Yona say about the future?"
"She said she would possibly move to Ponyville."
"Oh course. How long are you two going to lock lips? Or maybe see what house will fit her."
"Hey, don't talk like that. Yona wouldn't like that."
"She won't hear it because she's not here. She won't be here."
"Won't be here? Gallus, what are you talking about?"
The griffon frozed. "I said that out loud didn't I?"
"I think I know what you're talking about."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Relax, you'll be back after the summer." Gallus sighed. He continued to walk through Ponyville. Sandbar followed behind and saw he still didn't look happy. "Gallus, you sure you're fine?" The griffon didn't reply. "Gallus?" The griffon started taking flight and Sandbar had to pick up the pace to keep up.
Gallus seemed to have lost direction and he was now around some rocks and mounds of dirt. "Where are we?" he asked.
"I don't know," Sandbar replied. "Why'd you take off like that?"
"I'm not in a mood to talk." He looked around to see there also some trees nearby. "I think we're the Everfree Forest."
"This doesn't look like a part of the forest I've seen before." The two keep looking around until Sandbar heard a "clunk" sound under his hoof. He looked down and saw a pocket watch, buried in the ground. "Hey, Gallus, take a look at what I found."
The griffon helped dig the watch up and he took a good look at it. "Sweet," he cooed, "Imagine how many bits we can get for this."
"I don't think anypony's going to want an old watch."
"Sandar, ponies go crazy for watches and antiques."
"You certainly changed your tone." Gallus just shrugged and opened the watch to take a look inside. The watch's hands seem to be intact. In fact, the inside looked to be in mint condition.
"I wonder if it still works." The griffon fiddled with the watch's crown and he could get the hands turning. He moved them forward to get them the right time when something strange happened. The watch floated out of Gallus's claws and gave off a blue glow.
"Okay, that's red flag."
"You think? Let's get out of here." Before the two could run, a portal opened up and started sucking things in, including them. "Oh, crud. Not again!" Gallus tried picking up Sandbar and flying away but the two inevitably got sucked up into the portal as they, the watch, and the portal vanished.
Sandbar and Gallus, along with a few bits of dirt, rocks, and wood, shot out of another portal that just opened up just before it closed and the pocket watch fell onto the ground. "Ow," Sandbar groaned. He slowly stood up and looked around to see it was now day time. "How long were we in there?"
"Honesty," Gallus said, "I'm more curious if we're still in our world." He looked towards the watch and walked over to pick it up. "Let's get back to Ponyville."
The two left the forest and when they got back to town, Gallus noticed some of the ponies looked different. He could've jocked it up because of their different mane styles but they also looked a little bit older. The most jarring ponies was a white unicorn with a purple and pink mane. She was talking to two mares, one silver, and one pink, but then Gallus noticed the unicorn's cutie mark.
Quickly, he grabbed Sandbar by his tail and hid behind a nearby bush. "Gallus, what the heck?" the colt asked.
"Look over there," Gallus replied quietly. He pointed over to the mares who were talking to each other. While their voices were faint, they could hear them.
"So, you sure you can get the extra supplies we need?" the unicorn asked.
"Of course," the pink mare said.
"Oh, thanks, Diamond."
"I really don't see what's so important over some school supplies," the silver mare said.
"Silver," Diamond groaned. "Look, Sweetie Belle, we'll get things sorted out."
"Sweetie Belle?" the griffon and colt questioned. They both hid back in the bush.
"Why does she look like that?" Sandbar asked.
"I have a no idea," Gallus whispered. "I don't think we're even supposed to be here."
"What are you talking about?"
"If they're adults now, then I can think of what's going on he..."
"Sweetie Belle," called out a familiar voice. The boys look and saw a changeling flying up to the older cute mark crusader member. The changeling had blue skin and red scales and wings.
"No way," Sandbar gasped. "Is that Ocellus?"
"Looks like it," Gallus commented. "We're definitely in the future."
"You think it was the watch?"
"Of definitely. Let's see." He opened the watch and thought for a moment. All of a sudden, a filly ran up and bumped into him.
"Oh, I'm sorry sir," she apologized. Gallus was about to pick the watch back when another filly, who was a unicorn ran up and took it. "Sis, come back here." The filly ran off as the griffon and colt looked at each other.
"Crud," the boys cried. They chased after the fillies, though they were a lot faster than they thought.
"Midnight, get back here. That's not yours."
"Finder keepers," the filly named Midnight replied. While she looked back at her sister and blew a raspberry, she didn't see the stallion pulling a cart in front of her. She crashed into the stallion, causing him to tip the cart over and spill of its cargo, which was several dresses.
The filly let go of her watch, which flew through the air. Gallus tried to catch it, but he missed and the watch hit the ground and broke. "NO!" he and Sandbar cried. The arms broke off, several gears were knocked out of place, and the face of it was cracked.
"Midnight, Nightlight," cried a mare who walked closer to them.
"Mom, Nightlight was chasing me," Midnight whined.
"But she stole their watch," Nightlight stated pointing to Sandbar and Gallus, who were desperately trying to put the watch back together.
The mare walked up to the griffon, who panicked for a minute but stayed calm. "What the second filly sayed was true," he said, shaking a little bit.
The mare looked towards Midnight who tried to give an innocent smile. "Young mare," she said, "Your father and I are going to have a long talk." She looked back to see Sandbar and Gallus were already gone. The mare just groaned grabbed her daughter's hoof and dragged her home.
Nightlight looked towards the stallion who was trying to uncover himself from the dresses that fell on him in the crash. "Sorry, mister," the filly apologized.
"It's okay," the stallion reassured. "Just get back to your mom." The filly nodded and raced off to catch up with her mother. The stallion final got out from under the dresses. He had pale green fur, a light cyan and opal mane, light sea-green eyes, and three sea turtles for a cutie mark. He looked at all the dresses that were dirty from lying on the ground. "Oh, Rarity isn't going to be happy."
As he started cleaning up the mess, the colt and griffon looked at him from behind a building. "Is that me?" Sandbar questioned.
"Sure looks like it," Gallus said. "We're definitely in the future." He looked at the broken watch in his claw. "We're going to be here for a while."
"Well, I don't think we should let anycreature know we're here."
"And we don't know anyone who fixes watches, let alone if they're still here. Until then, I think we should get comfy."
"We can't stay here forever. I mean, my future self is here, but won't we cause any time paradoxes?"
"I don't know, time travel is way too confusing. Look, I think there's a library around here somewhere. Hopefully with a book about watches and how to fix them."
"Seems like a stretch, but I don't see any other option. But, shouldn't we wear something to make sure that no one recognizes us?"
"With what?" Sandbar looked over to his older self and had a pretty risky idea. When the stallion wasn't looking, the colt ran up and snatched some clothes that were still lying on the ground. The younger Sandbar ran back to his hiding spot.
"How about these?" After sorting through what the colt picked up, Gallus had put on a vest and sun hat and some jeans, while Sandbar had gotten a hoodie and a cape to cover his cutie mark.
"What was the other you doing with all of this stuff? We don't normally wear clothes."
"I don't know, let's just get to the library." The two raced off hoping no one would see them. Though, their clothing made them stick out like a sore claw. In the sky, something pink and blue was flying around. Sandbar was curious, but he kept his focus and kept up with Gallus.
The pink and blue object flew towards the older Sandbar and landed next to him. He look and saw it was a familiar hippogriff wearing a Wonderbolts uniform. "Oh, hey, Silver," the stallion said.
The hippogriff removed her goggles. "Hey, Sandy," she replied. "What happen here?"
"Some kid ran into me. Most of the clothes are ruined, and some are even missing."
"Oh no. Could you tell me what went missing? I could help find them."
"Well, I think I'm missing, a sun hat, a vest, some jeans, a hoodie, and a cap."
"Alright, I'll keep an eye out. Wish me luck." The hippogriff placed her goggles back on and flew off as the stallion pulled his cart away.
Back to the younger one, the colt and griffon started to notice, it wasn't just ponies wandering around town. Some griffons were flying around, a couple of yaks and dragons were helping changelings move heavy supplies, and there was even a seapony swimming around in the fountain before a hippogriff, presumably its dad, lifting it out of the water.
"When did so many creatures show up here?" Gallus questioned.
"I think it started with the school," Sandbar whispered. He looked to see if they were starring at them, some were. "They're starring at us."
"Can you blame them? We look like we belong in a circus. I'm pretty sure this hat is for girls."
"Look, there's Princess Twilight's castle." The two started picking up the pace until they heard two voices.
"You don't think that Diamond Tiara isn't too young to help Filthy Rich with his business?" Ocellus asked as she came into view.
"She says she's doing fine," Sweetie Belle replied. Sandbar and Gallus stopped in their tracks. Before the girls could see them, Gallus picked up his friends hid themselves behind a cloud.
"This is never easy," Gallus groaned.
"Maybe we could sneak through a window," Sandbar suggest. The griffon picked his friend up and they then heard someone asking several questions.
"Did you see these clothes," the voice asked.
"Uh oh," Sandbar said. Gallus looked and saw a hippogriff searching around.
"Oh, give me a break," the griffon groaned.
"Hey, you!" the hippogriff cried pointing at the boys. Before they could try and get away, they were tackled to the ground by the Wonderbolt.
"What the...?" Ocellus cried as she heard them crashing to the ground. "Belle, you go inside, I'll be right back." The unicorn did so as the changing flew over to where she could see her friend. "Silverstream? What are you doing?"
"Ocellus," the hippogriff replied. "Sandbar said some clothes went missing and I thought these guys stole them."
The changeling removed the sun hat and hood from the "thieves" and she and her friends gasped. Gallus and Sandbar slowly stood and saw their cover was blown. "Hey... Girls," Sandbar said giving a sheepish smile.
"Wha... How...?" Ocellus was just speechless.
"I thought you were taking clothes back to Rarity's," Silverstream said. "Are you two younger?"
"It's a long story," Gallus said. He placed his claw in the vest's pocket and took out the broken pocket watch. "We're here thanks to this watch."
"You traveled through time?" Ocellus said.
"Sadly, yes. And some kid broke it and now we're stuck here."
The changeling looked around before turning into a bugbear. She quickly scooped up the boys. "We should probably get you inside." They flew into the castle where the griffon tried to get out her grip.
"So... How old are you?" Sandbar asked.
"Well," Silverstream said, "I would say... Eight years since we graduated from the school of friendship."
"You mean we're ten years in the future?"
"Seems like it," Gallus said. "Now, could you let me go? I don't think anycreature's going to see us in here."
"Right," Ocellus said. She let them go and returned to her normal form. "So, how could a watch make you travel through time?"
"That's what I want to know."
"I think the more important question is how do we fix the watch?" Sandbar said. "Ocellus, are there any books about watch repair or something?"
"I think so," Ocellus replied. She led them into the library and flew up to search one of the several shelves. "Let's see, W. Ah, here it is, "Watch Repair." She took the book and placed it on the table.
"Alright." Sandbar opened the book and Gallus placed the broken pocket watch and on the table and they tried to focus on the problem. However, the colt couldn't help but ask a few questions. "So... When did you become a Wonderbolt?"
"Oh," Silverstream said, "Well, it about two or... Three years ago."
"That's enough spoilers Silver," Ocellus said.
"I'm sorry," Sandbar sighed, "I was curious."
"Focus," Gallus said. He took the book from his friend, hoping to speed up the process. "We can handle it from here."
"If you say so," Ocellus said. The changeling and hippogriff walked out of the room and closed the door behind them.
"I kind of forgot how cute they were when they were younger," Silverstream said.
"Silver, I don't think we should let anycreature into the castle until this is over." The Wonderbolt nodded and once they were outside, she picked up the clothes that were still on the ground and flew away. Ocellus walked back towards the school.
Sandbar looked at the watch and noticed something. "Gallus, we're obviously going to need tools, right?" the colt asked.
The griffon smacked his head on the table in anger. "It's never easy," he grumbled.
"Should we tell the girls?"
"Not until we know what we need."
"Right." The kept quiet for a minute before Sandbar said something else. "It's pretty amazing how much things have changed. I kind of wonder if Yona and I are still together." Gallus cleared his throat as he pointed to the watch. "Right."
They read for what felt like hours. Sandbar read out the list of parts as Gallus checked to see if the watch still had the parts they needed. The problem was a couple of the gears, some of them were split in half. "Were these gears made of, glass?"
"It was underground for who knows how long. Look at how much rust they have. I'd be surprised if they didn't break when you turned the crown. We're going to need to buy some new ones."
"You know we can't go out there."
"Yeah. But maybe, I can."
"What are you talking about?"
At Rarity's Boutique, the older Sandbar had gotten back with the cart of clothes he picked up. A rather large yak was inside the building and saw him coming. She ran outside and to help the stallion, but she noticed his unhappy expression. "What wrong, Sandbar?" she asked.
"I had an accident downtown," the stallion replied. "All these clothes are ruined now."
"Yona don't care about clothes. Yona wants to know if Sandbar is alright."
"I'm fine, Yona." He placed a kiss on the yak's cheek and started unloading the dirty clothes.
"Hey, Sandy!" Silverstream called from above. The hippogriff landed next to the stallion and the yak with the clothes she was returning on her back. "These were pretty heavy."
"Oh, thanks, Silver."
"Why does Silverstream have clothes?" Yona asked.
"It was..." The hippogriff caught herself. "Some teenagers. I didn't get their names though."
"Really?" Sandbar asked, "You seem nervous." Silverstream's eyes darted from left and right.
"Gotta go." Before the two could say anything, the Wonderbolt took off.
"Hippogriff hiding something," Yona said.
"Yeah, but look at all these clothes that have to be cleaned," Sandbar stated.
"Silver shouldn't hide things. Not good things happen."
"Now that you mention it, I have been getting Deja Vu."
"Must have something to do with Silver?"
"Maybe, but..." Before Sandbar could say anything, the yak tossed him onto her back and gave chase. "Yona, slow down. We're not as young as we used to be." Yona wasn't listening, she was doing her best to keep up with her flying friend. Silverstream had gotten back to the castle and flew through the window to find her young friends arguing with each other.
"There's no way we can get your future self to do this," Gallus said.
"Look, two of our friends already saw us," Sandbar replied.
"Calm down," Silverstream begged. She landed beside the boys and used her wings to push them away from each other. "What are you arguing about?"
"Some of the watch's gears are broken," Gallus said, "And Sandbar said we should have his future self help us find the parts we need."
"Look, the timeline didn't implode on us," Sandbar said.
"What?" the griffon and hippogriff aked.
"Time travel stories are way too complicated." They suddenly heard a loud SMASH come from the hallway. "What was that?"
"Yona, put me down!" cried a stallion. There was some tumbling which sounded like someone hitting the floor. "Look, Silver's a Wonderbolt. Those things have tight schedules, like us."
"Yona just wants to help," cried the yak. They could hear them stomping towards the library.
"Oh no," Silverstream cried, "Hide!" The boys panicked as they tried finding a hiding spot.
"Okay, fine," the stallion said, "We'll check to see what the problem but then we're heading right back to the boutique. And I'm picking dinner tonight."
"Fine," the yak replied, sounding frustrated. The two entered the library to find a nervous hippogriff.
"Silver, Yona wants to know if you need any help with anything."
"No, I'm fine," she replied. The pony and yak looked at each other as they saw their friend's expression didn't really look like someone who would be fine. She looked more frantic.
"Are you hiding something?"
"What? No, of course not."
"Friend hiding secret?" Yona asked.
"No, nothing." Open the entrance of the library, Gallus and Sandbar were trying their hardest not to fall down.
"Why did we pick this of all places?" Gallus thought. He and the colt had beads of sweat forming on their faces waiting for the future Sandbar to leave.
"Welp, she's not in the mood to talk," said the older Sandbar. "Come on, Yona." Just when the two were about to leave, the young Sandbar heard a familiar voice, albeit more mature.
"Sandbar, where have you been?" asked a voice which sounded like it was getting closer.
"Smolder," Yona said, "Sandbar had accident.
"Wait, Smolder?" the young Sandbar questioned. Before the older versions of their friends could question who just said that, Sandbar lost his grip and fell to the floor. Silverstream covered her eyes as her friends looked back and gasped at the colt.
"What?" the older Sandbar questioned. "Is that... Me?"
"You are really bad at secrets," Gallus said as he landed in between the past and future versions of his friends.
"Gallus?" Smolder questioned. The dragon was definitely taller, almost a foot taller than Yona, who was also much bigger than her past self. "Wha... How... What the heck is going on?" Smolder asked.
"Time travel."
"It's all thanks to this watch," Sandbar said pointing to the said watch on the table. "Right now, it's broken, and we're stuck here."
"Okay, I'm not going to question things," Smolder said.
"Probably a good idea," Gallus said.
"What do past friends need?" Yona asked.
"Some gears," past Sandbar said. He showed his friends and himself the broken parts that needed to be replaced.
"I think I know a place where we can get these," future Sandbar said. "There's a stallion not too far away from the boutique. We can go there and get them."
"And them?" Silverstream asked pointing to the ones from the past.
"Leave them here," Smolder said. "It's nothing personal guys."
"We know," Gallus and past Sandbar replied.
"Friends be back as soon as we can," Yona said before she and future Sandbar left. Smolder was about to follow, but Gallus stopped her.
"Smolder," the griffon said, "I hate to ask this, but since you already saw us, I'm curious, what do you do?"
"You mean what I do for a living?" the dragon replied. "I just do a lot of odd jobs. I doing well."
"Smolder, come on," future Sandbar called, "We need to fix this."
"Be right back." She flew off as Silverstream was left alone with the boys.
"So... What do you want to do to past the time."
"I think you should keep watch outside," Sandbar said.
"Definitely a good idea," Gallus commented. The hippogriff nodded before she flew outside and circled around the castle.
"I think we should probably just read a book or two until the others and I get back." The griffon did what he said and just flew up to one of the bookshelves. He was surprised by the number of books that were there. Some of them looked pretty new. One was titled "The Story of Twilight Sparkle."
Gallus figured it probably just some history of the said princess. When he flew down to the table to read the story, he was right. From when Twilight first came to Ponyville, to her rise to the throne, the book explained it all. When Gallus got near to the end, he found a couple of pages listing the school of friendship he could see that some of his friends were in there, Sandbar, Yona, Silverstream.
However, he couldn't find himself in the book. He tried flipping through the page multiple times before he let a cry of frustration. "Gallus, what's wrong?" Sandbar asked, taken by surprise.
"This is what I was afraid of," Gallus stated. "Think about this, Ocellus works at the school, Silver's a Wonderbolt, Smolder's odd jobs help her have a stable income, and you and Yona are still together." The colt blushed a bit from hearing this. "Is any creature missing?" Sandbar thought for a moment before he realized what he meant. "Yeah, where's Gallus?"
"Look, maybe it's just..."
"Sandbar, this book shows pictures of our adventure. Look, here we are stopping Cozy Glow, then here we are helping with the Tree of Harmony. Then here we are helping Twilight and our professors, helping to stop Cozy and her friends and here we are. But look someone's missing."
"Okay, Gallus, calm down. Maybe... Maybe it's just an error." Sandbar gave a not so confident smile.
"Or maybe they forgot." The griffon sighed. "This is what I was afraid of."
"What do you mean?"
"After we graduate, we all go back to our homes. I'm sure Ocellus and Smolder will do well, considering their homes don't really have currency. Silver's related to Queen Novo, so she has some perks. The ponies and yaks have the best relationship out of all the creatures, so you and Yona have no trouble. Then, ...There's Griffonstone. It's pretty much a fail kingdom."
"Gallus, don't say that. You could just come to Ponyville and we can work things out."
"Then where am I?"
"You know we can't figure out more of the future."
"So, I'm just left with the fact I'm just forgotten in this world." Sandbar did his best to make his friend feel better as Silverstream heard everything they said. She thought for a moment before she flew off towards Canterlot.
A little while later, the older Sandbar, as well as Yona and Smolder, walked back to the castle. "The order's going to about two days late," the stallion said.
"I can wait," the dragon sighed. "Honestly, I'm still shocked by all of this."
"Friends been through a lot," Yona said, "But this is weirdest all."
"Agreed," both pony and dragon replied. When they got back to the library, they found that Ocellus was there with the younger Sandbar.
"Oh," the changeling gasped. "This..."
"We already know," Smolder stated which calmed her friend down.
"Yeah," the younger Sandbar said, "I kind of forgot to tell her because... Gallus is kind of upset right now."
"How come?" Yona asked.
"He thinks you guys forgot about him."
"Why would we do that?" older Sandbar asked.
"I tried telling him otherwise, but he just won't listen."
"There's no doubt that he'll listen to us," Smolder said. "Where is he?"
"The map room."
"You go ahead," Ocellus said. "I'll try and fix the watch." The creatures gave the changeling the parts for the watch, then left the room walked to find Gallus sulking next to the map of Equestria.
"Hey, buddy," the older Sandbar said. The griffon looked towards them before lying his head back on the floor.
"Gallus can't be sad forever," Yona said as she walked closer to the griffon.
"Then explain why every creature forgot about me."
"Name one reason we would do that," Smolder ordered.
"I'm not in the history book even though all of you are."
"Is that was this is about? You weren't in a book, so what?"
"My future self is nowhere to be seen. Since I came from Griffonstone, I don't have that good of a chance of having a good life."
"What are we talking about?" Silverstream asked as she poked her head into the room.
"Gallus is down in the dumps," younger Sandbar said.
"I think I can fix that," said a voice. Silverstream walked closer to the map as did an older blue griffon in the armor the guards would wear. The young versions of Gallus and Sandbar's jaws dropped.
"Is that... Me?" the young Gallus asked.
"The real deal," the older one said. "After helping protect Equestria several times, I thought it would be a good idea to become one of the castle guards. It's helpful having somecreature who knows what he's doing."
"See, you'll turn out fine," the young Sandbar said.
"Silverstream told me everything," the griffon guard explained. "You don't have to worry. If you wanted to know more, Smolder was the one who got me to sign up."
The dragoness chuckled. "Yeah," she said, "I joked about the guards being as useless as wet paper."
"They kind of are," the younger Gallus chuckled. "But what about that history book?"
"That's one of the first ones," the older Sandbar explained. "The first fifty had an error where they left you and/or Ocellus out of the picture. We had a joke or two about that."
"Friend no need to worry about anything," Yona said as she helped the young griffon up. "If griffon worries, future will never happen."
"What?" young Gallus questioned.
"If you keep thinking about the bad parts of the future, you'll never focus on the brighter side," the older Sandbar said placing his hoof on his young friend's shoulder.
"Kind of wish we could tell you more," Silverstream said, "But you know, time paradoxes."
"Right," the young Gallus said.
"Guys," Ocellus called, "I think I got the watch fixed." The creatures all walked back towards the room where Ocellus was and they found the walk was back in one piece.
"So, how does that thing work?" Silverstream asked.
"Last time I checked, I just turned the crown forward," young Gallus said. He picked it up as the young Sandbar stood beside him. Ocellus backed up towards the older creatures for safety. "If spinning it forward took us to the future, then turning it backward will take us back."
Young Sandbar looked towards the others. "Thanks for the help guys," he said.
"No problem," Ocellus said. "Just make sure you get back safe."
The young version of Sandbar and Gallus nodded at each other before the griffon turned the crown the opposite direction. The watch floated into the air and created a portal. The griffon and colt jumped through and the portal closed. "I forgot how cute you were," Silverstream said to Gallus.
"Good to know," the guard replied.
The two landed back into the past and the watch plopped onto the ground. "Okay, no creature can find this thing," Gallus said.
"Agreed," replied Sandbar. The quickly dug up dirt and placed watch down to cover it back up. Once they did that, they headed back to the school. The stars were lighting up the night sky. "You feeling better?"
"A little. It's going to be a little hard to keep down spoilers, but I think I can manage." Once the two got to the school, they snuck into their room without any creature noticing. They felt like they'd been up for hours. The minute they lied down in their beds they passed out.
Once the morning sun came up, the students got up one more time for the last day of school. Sandbar looked at Gallus before he nudged towards the girls. The griffon knew what he meant and he explained to the girls why he was acting annoyed yesterday.
Silverstream just laughed. "You really thought we would just forget you?" she asked.
"Not really," Gallus replied. "Still kind of hard to believe that our second year here is over."
"Yeah," Ocellus sighed. "But don't forget, we'll be back..."
"After the summer," Smolder interrupted. "We know."
"So, how are you going to spend your summer?" Sandbar asked.
"Yona don't know what to expect," Yona said.
"Me neither," Silverstream added. "I think I'll just wing it."
"That seems to be what we do best," Gallus said. "Weird stuff starts happening and we do our best to get through it." The group shared a laugh.
After breakfast, the students went to clean out their dorms. It was better than tiring lessons, but moving all of their stuff out of their dorms was hard work. Once all of that was done, the students were called to the mess hall for lunch. Once they got there, Starlight, Sunburst, Trixie, and the professors were all waiting for them. There was a long table filled with drinks and sweets. In the middle of the table of treats, was a large cake with "Have a Good Summer" written in violet frosting.
"I'm glad you all did well this year," Starlight said. "It's quite sad that you all have to good, but I'm sure we'll all see each other again."
"Three months to be precise," Pinkie stated. Several groans were heard from the students.
"Let's just have some of the treats that we've made just for you," Sunburst said. All the students start getting plates and cups to help themselves with dessert. There was too much to choose from, Silverstream's plate of sweets was almost as big as Yona.
One party and stomach or two later, Sandbar followed his friends to the train station. "So, none of you want to stick around?" the colt asked.
"Yona's parents want Yona to come home after school," Yona explained.
"And I've been wanting to see my brother again," Smolder added.
"Well, I don't want to keep you waiting," Sandbar said. "Gallus, what about you?"
"I think Gabby would let me stay with her," the griffon replied. "She seems to be the nicest of the griffons. Though, that's not a hard feat."
"Okay. I hope you all have a safe trip home." The group shared one last hug before Sandbar stood back so the coach's door could close. They waved goodbye until the train had left the platform. "Have a great Summer." With that, Sandbar walked off to head home.
