What A Night
What A Night
Load Full StoryThe loud noise of the alarm clock rang loudly in the Princess of Friendship’s room, she groaned as she flailed her hoof around to snooze the clock, but every time she did she would have missed the clock by several inches. Louder and louder the alarm clock sounded before she couldn’t take it anymore before she used her magic to shut up the clock. She retracted back under the covers as she tried to get extra sleep, though Twilight found it difficult due to the insane headache she was getting. The Princess groaned as she clutched the side of her head, the throbbing pain the game from her head was indescribable but she couldn’t even think of words to describe it and that was Twilight’s favorite thing to do, that and reading, taking notes, making friends, sorting books, and-- Wait… why did she even do last night? She remembers celebrating something… A birthday? Who’s birthday? Maybe it was a party she went to, and if so what was the party about? The second she began to think she immediately got a headache again that made her clench the bed sheets under her.
“Don’t think about Twilight… let it go… Just a day that’s probably best to be forgotten. Yet again what if somepony saw. What if the Princesses find out? What if--” Twilight squeaked as she felt a pair of hooves wrapped around her waist and pulled her close to somepony behind her, she could feel the chest full on her back and the light snoring of a stallion behind her. “Sweet Celestia… I did not do what I did…” Twilight looked behind and to her surprise, a zebra laid behind her. Asleep, a small smile on his face as he held Twilight close. Twilight didn’t know how to feel, she hadn’t done “that” since she--
“Good morning…” The Zebra spoke spooking Twilight as she turned to look back at the zebra, his brown eyes, and his black colored mane just looked at the princess with a small smirk. “I hoped you enjoyed yourself last night.”
“W-what happened last night?” Twilight asked, seeming a bit nervous to ask, afraid that the answer she may get she wouldn’t like.
The Zebra threw up his eyebrows in surprise as he let go of the princess.
“You and your friends were celebrating at the Three Leaf Clover, I’m not too sure what exactly but you seven seemed to have been trying to have a wonderful time. I mean seriously your Canterlot ancient friend was buying drinks left and right. One thing leads to another you took interest in me and I did the same with you. I’m sure you can piece together what happened next.” The Zebra explained.
“I… I… I…” Twilight was speechless, had she gone over the edge like that, just got drunk like it was nothing and then brought some random stallion home back to the castle? “I’m so sorry if I mean any confusion Mr…?”
“Kaber. My name is Kaber.” The Zebra said.
“Mr. Kaber I do want to apologize for… last night, that isn’t who I am and I hope I didn’t make you do things that you weren’t comfortable with. I’m sure what I did and what I said, I didn’t mean for you to take into heart.”
Kaber shut his eyes as he let out a sigh of relief, he laid down on the bed and reopened his eyes and smirked. “It’s fine. You didn’t do anything that made me uncomfortable, quite the polar opposite.” Kaber joked as he winked at Twilight. “Jokes aside, you were fine, we both were. As for what happened last night I’m sure we can both try to forget about it.” Kaber turned to look at Twilight with a smile.
Twilight smiled back as she nodded in agreement. “Thank you for understanding. Though I do have a question…”
Kaber had his full attention, Twilight leaned in and whispered the question into the zebra’s ear. “Oh… that? No, no, no… you’re fine I made sure of that.” He said, that question gave the Princess a bit more comfort to her morning so far, they laid there for a moment before Kaber spoke. “We should probably get dressed, I’m sure a princess like yourself has many things to attend to.”
Kaber began to move out of the bed but Twilight stopped him, he looked back as she let out a sigh. “Um… you don’t mind if you stayed a little…?” Twilight asked nervously, she didn’t make eye contact with the zebra as she was embarrassed, of course, only speaking a few times wondering how he would react.
To her surprise, he… laughed. Twilight felt heartbroken for a moment before Kaber got back into bed with her. “You read my mind.” He said as he nuzzled her lightly. “It’s not every day you meet a princess, especially one who’s well known across the land,” Kaber said.
Twilight chuckled as she rested her head on Kaber’s chest, that warming feeling from before brought a little shiver but she liked it, she couldn’t help but close her eyes and hold him close. “Nothing can ruin this moment…” She muttered.
“Twilight you awake?” Spike asked as he knocked on the door and opened the door just a little.
Twilight immediately went red as she slammed Kaber under the covers and stood up. “S-Spike! What are you doing, I thought you were with Ember.” Twilight said as her face was filled with embarrassment.
Spike poked his head inside and saw Twilight in her bed, her body covered by the blankets, though he quickly noticed the lump under the blankets. “Who’s that?” He asked.
Twilight quickly panicked as she looked at the lump before backing at Spike, “Spike! Don’t you have something to do with Starlight or maybe help Rarity?” Twilight asked, trying to divert the question.
But Spike wasn’t fooled; she easily saw what Twilight was doing, what she was hiding under the blankets, he smirked before nodding to play along with Twilight’s game. “Yes Twilight actually, thank you for reminding me,” Spike said. “Well, I should get to it, oh, and don’t forget that Princess Cadence and Shining Armor are coming over with Flurry for that get together you’ve planned last week.” Spike mentions before quickly closing the door and walking off with a chuckle, leaving Twilight in more of a panic.
Twilight was just left speechless as she completely forgot and with Kaber here how would she be able to explain him to Cadence and Shining? “Uh… Twilight, can I come up now, it’s getting kind of hard to breathe under here. But I don’t mind the view where I’m at~.” Kaber said with a chuckle.
Twilight moved the blankets off Kaber letting the zebra get some air as he smirked at Twilight, though Twilight didn’t share the same emotions as him. “Don’t fret now Twi, I’ll leave so you can get ready for your big day with your relatives,” Kaber said. “I don’t mind at all.”
Twilight looked at Kaber. “You don’t?! Are you sure?! I don’t want to just kick you out like that, I mean, I--”
Kaber brought a hoof to Twilight’s lips as he nods, “I’m sure Twilight, I won’t take any offense, I promise.” Kaber said he moved his hoof away and planted a kiss on her lips.
He moved back and got out of bed to get his clothes on, he reached into his pocket and gave Twilight a piece of paper. “My address, come see me sometime or when you’re done with your family. Don’t matter, I’m not busy.” Kaber gave a smile, Twilight gave one back as he went towards the door to leave.
He opened the door inwards only to have Starlight and Spike come tumbling as it seems that they were eavesdropping on the conversation between the two. The unicorn and the dragon stood up before trying to act casual. “Twilight! Hey, good morning. Oh, who’s this stallion, a zebra? Here? Oh my, sir, I don’t think you’re supposed to be here with her highness’ private quarters.” Starlight said, trying to act as if she didn’t know what was going on.
“You can cut the act… I know you two were hearing our conversation, not a word to the mares, understood?” Twilight asked, her tone unpleasant.
“Relax Twilight, we won’t tell anyone,” Spike said.
“Good,” Twilight said in relief.
“Because the others already know.”
“WHAT!?” Twilight felt faint as she fell backward onto the bed throwing the pillows over her face and groaning from disbelief.
“Twilight it’s fine, it’s normal. There’s no need to be upset about it.” Starlight said, trying to comfort the alicorn. “I know ponies don’t expect that from you but it will show ponies that you’re just like them, you got needs and you got them fulfilled.”
“Your friend here is right,” Kaber cut in. “If I may Twilight I know what you’re going through, to have people comment on what you do, how you act, how you respond to things from ponies that don’t expect it from you. Best to just say, ‘Yeah, I did that’. I know it’s embarrassing, trust me I’ve been where you are now. It’s gonna be okay.” Kaber said.
Twilight removed the pillow and looked at the others before she smiled. “Y-you’re…” She said as she stood up. “Thank you guys, that helps a lot. But can you do me a favor at least?”
“Sure Twi, what’s that?” Spike asked.
“Get. Out.” Twilight hissed as she pulled the blankets over her.
The trio left the room, Kaber leaving last as he closes the door behind them before turning to Starlight and Spike. They didn’t say any words but Kaber just gave them a nod before going the hallway to the front doors to leave. Spike looked at Starlight. “How do you think Cadence and Shining Armor will react when they find out?” Spike asked.
“Oh, they’re gonna be a surprise as us, come on, let’s get ready for when they show.” Starlight said as she led Spike away from Twilight’s room.
Meanwhile, Twilight just looked at the piece of paper that Kaber gave to her, she stared, reading the address over and over again in her head before she put the paper in a nearby dresser and smirked. “Maybe… Maybe I can give him…” She said as she went to get dressed for her guest...
Author's Note
