Lyra Heartstring goes on an expedition to find evidence of a long lost civilization of the mythical technocratic civilization known as Humanity.

What she finds is a far cry from what she imagined the fiercely intelligent titans of technology to be. Cruel and brutish with a barely functioning society, yet entirely dependent on creatures for their work and food. Even intimacy.

Her dream of discovering their civilization is achieved, yet many questions remain.
She must work to integrate herself seamlessly into their social hierarchy, in order to learn the truth of what happened in the past.
