Chapter 2: Whats With Everypony?

Scootaloo trotted down the path happily. Her friends were acting oddly but she assumed they were trying to be nice despite being jealous of her new pendant. Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle were walking very close to Scootaloo too, which didn't bother her much. She liked to be close to her friends. It was their tedious bickering she was getting annoyed with.

"Hey, Scootaloo, what do ya wanna do first once we get to the campsite?" asked Apple Bloom.

"She wants to relax in our luxury tent of course," replied Sweetie Belle.

Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle shoved one another a little trying to be the closest one to Scootaloo. Scootalooo looked at her friends with a raised eyebrow in confusion.

"Umm, I'm not sure?" responded Scootaloo after a few seconds.

Meanwhile, down the road about twelve feet from the fillies, their older sisters were having a similar conversation. Rainbow Dash was flying in the air only two or three feet above Applejack and Rarity. The two grounded Ponies were looking mostly at Rainbow Dash and were tripping repeatedly over a loose or jetting stone in on the path. Every time one of them tripped Rainbow Dash would roll her eyes at them.

"Rainbow Dash, ya wanna hit the water hole with me when we get there?" asked Applejack.

Applejack patted her chest raising a small cloud of dust from her coat. The dust flew into Rarity's face and she frantically fanned the dirt away from herself. Rarity tripped a few times trying to regain her position near Rainbow Dash afterward.

"Why would she do that? She's not filthy, she should come relax in my ultra-deluxe glamping tent. It's the proper way to pamper yourself in the woods," Rarity sneered.

"Ummm, I don't wanna do either of those things," replied Rainbow Dash, confused and a bit irritated. "I'm going to take a nice nap."

'I'd sleep with ya,' thought Applejack.

Applejack wasn't sure why but she was attracted to her Pegasus friend today. She had always hidden her sexual orientation from her friends, not lying about it but rather simply avoiding the topic altogether. She had always suspected that Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy had a thing in their filly years though, and she admittedly had fantasized about them together as fillies.

"I'll make you up a soft bed Rainbow Dash," said Rarity.

Rainbow Dash glanced at her friend with a furrowed brow. "Uh, that's ok. I'll just use a tree like normal," she said.

Applejack smirked at Rarity who huffed and walked further ahead to avoid looking at the farm Pony any longer.

Scootaloo watched and tried to listen to the older Ponies, noting the similarities in their behavior to that of Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom. Scootaloo wasn't sure why everypony was acting strange, but she felt she should talk to Rainbow Dash about it when she got the chance.

The group continued on in this manner until they reached their campsite. Both Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash had grown weary and irritated by their friend constant questions and suggestions, all of which seemed to be about one of them hanging out with a single friend which upset the other friends in kind.

The location they had chosen for this camping trip was inside a nice grove of aspen trees with a slow-moving river nearby and a hill a short distance that made for good hiking. The Ponies quickly set up their campsite, each Pony hurrying their own tents so they might have the chance to help Rainbow Dash or Scootaloo with theirs. When it was all set and done Rainbow Dash carried Scootaloo away from the others to a sturdy tree nearby.

"Have you noticed the others acting strangely?" asked Scootaloo.

"That's why I brought you up here. What the heck is going on?" replied Rainbow Dash.

Scootaloo lifted the pendant with her forehoof. "Think maybe they are jealous of these?" asked Scootaloo.

"I have no idea! But maybe we should take them off for now," answered Rainbow Dash with obvious frustration in her voice.

Scooatloo tried to remove the necklace but was unable to pull it above her chin. With a sudden fear swelling inside her Scootaloo tried to remove it several more times. She gave it one last attempt with all her strength and then looked at Rainbow Dash with scared eyes.

"It won't come off!" exclaimed Scootaloo.

"What?" replied Rainbow Dash.

Rainbow Dash tried to remove her necklace and was unable to do so as well. She paused and held the gem up to view. She couldn't feel any magic from the thing and could not figure out why she could not remove it. Scootaloo examined her gem as well simply because Rainbow Dash was. But as the two Pegasus Ponies stared into the deep red gems they became lost in a trance-like state.

"Rainbow Dash! Scootaloo!" called Applejack and Sweetie Belle.

Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo snapped out of their daze and looked at one another. They could see their friends looking for them on the edge of the camp. Scootaloo rubbed her head and looked at Rainbow Dash.

"What were we doing?" asked Scootaloo.

"I don't know," replied Rainbow Dash.

Scootaloo shrugged and Rainbow Dash responded in kind. Rainbow Dash picked up Scootaloo then the two of them headed back to their camp. When they landed they found their friends all eagerly waiting for them.

"I see them!" yelled Sweetie Belle.

"Scootaloo there you are," said Apple Bloom happily.

"Rainbow Dash you simply must come to see my tent," sang Rarity.

"No, help me start the campfire and we'll fire up some food," yelled Applejack.

Rainbow Dash set Scootaloo down and the two of them were immediately surrounded by the other four. Once again they poured out requests and ideas, bickering with each other over who got to hang out with the Pegasus Ponies first. Scootaloo and Rainbow Dash looked at each other blushing but upset; they both sighed and turned to address their friends. It seemed this was going to be a long night.
