Twilight Sparkle organized the venue of the date. The meeting place would be on her castle balcony. She put pillows, cookies, two cups of tea, a teapot, her telescope, and some astronomy books. She checked more than once to see if everything was perfect. She wanted this last date to be perfect. Because after all, this would be the last time she and Luna would ever see each other. Just thinking about it made her cry. Not in cry of sadness. But cry of happiness. No. She wasn’t happy that Luna would walk away from her. She was happy that the moments she and Luna spent together all year were beautiful. From she was a unicorn to where she was now: An Alicorn. As she helped Luna on Nightmare Night, Twilight realized that she enjoyed spending time with Luna that night, and Luna couldn’t deny that she also enjoyed spending time with Twilight on Nightmare Night. That same night they declared their love. And from there, they started dating.
Suddenly Twilight heard a flapping sound. She looked at the place where the sound came from and smiled, “Luna!” exclaimed Twilight Sparkle cheerfully, before rushing to hug her.
Luna smiled as she was hugged by Twilight. She hugged Twilight back with a hoof, “Twilight, I’m glad to see you again”
Twilight Sparkle came out of the hug while smiling, “Me too. I have planned several things for us to do”
“Like what?” asked Luna.
“Watching the night sky, reading astronomy books, spending time holding each other”, Twilight Sparkle hugged herself as she said the last four words. Luna smiled at the scene. Despite her, she was still smiling when Twilight spoke.
“Can’t think of anything better, right?” asked Luna, with a smile.
Twilight Sparkle blushed at those words, “hey! They were the only things I could think of to have on our last date! And I also thought these were the things you like”
Luna, still smiling, said, “You’re right, love. All I like are here: Night, books and you”
Twilight Sparkle blushed even more with the last word. Luna laughed at the reaction before saying, “Well, shall we start our dating?”
Twilight Sparkle stopped blushing, but smiled, “yes. Let’s start”
Twilight Sparkle picked up a purple pillow and sat down. Twilight Sparkle closed her eyes as she smiled. Then she opened her eyes and watched Luna pick up a dark blue pillow, place it near Twilight, sit next to Twilight and hug her with one wing. Twilight Sparkle smiled at the loving gesture. They watched the night sky. Today the moon was full and had plenty of stars in the sky. Twilight Sparkle liked it when there were plenty of stars in the sky. It reminded her of the moments she and Luna had spent together. The moon resembled Luna’s Twilight and the stars remembered her. Honestly, they were meant to be together. Twilight Sparkle began to cry.
Luna looked at Twilight and saw her crying, “Twilight, is everything okay?”
Twilight Sparkle still crying, wiped her tears with her hoof before answering, “Yes, Luna. I’m just crying with joy”
Luna was curious, “weeping with joy for what?”
Twilight Sparkle didn’t notice, but there was a tear in her eye, “from the moments we spent together. Can you believe it’s been eight years since we started dating? It seems like yesterday”
Luna smiled, “Yeah, love. Looks like it was yesterday”
“When we started dating, I was a unicorn. Although I like spending time with my friends, I enjoyed spending time at the Golden Oka’s Tree Library. Just thinking that she was destroyed by Lord Tirek made me cry before. But when my friends put the root of my old library just to cheer me up… It makes me cry for joy… ” Twilight Sparkle started to cry again.
Luna, noticing this, wiped the tears from Twilight with a hoof. Twilight Sparkle smiled and looked at Luna, “thank you, Luna”
Luna smiled, “You’re welcome, love”
Twilight Sparkle leaned back as she remembered the moments, “as I was saying, just thinking they did it just to make me feel better. It makes me feel grateful to be their friend”
“They will always be there for you when you need it, love”, said Luna with a smile, looking at Twilight Sparkle.
“Yes, Luna. But there is something that concerns me. And it’s about and my immortality”, said Twilight Sparkle.
Luna stopped smiling.
“And when they get old, Luna? And when they die, Luna? I don’t know if I can rule by myself”, said Twilight Sparkle, now about to cry.
“But Twilight, you aren’t yet ruling Equestria. Your friends are still young”, said Luna, trying to cheer up Twilight Sparkle.
Twilight Sparkle continued to stare at the floor, “I know. But just thinking that someday… They’ll be old and I won’t… It makes me want to never become Alicorn”
Luna felt sad for Twilight Sparkle. She was about to comfort her, but Twilight Sparkle spoke earlier, “… But if it was to happen or that was my destiny… I will accept. If it was already planned for me to be an Alicorn and an Equestria ruler, then I will accept. Because I know you and Celestia have been ruling Equestria for over a thousand years and you both deserve a break”
Luna was surprised by the talk of Twilight. She never imagined that Twilight would accept her and her sister retiring. She thought Twilight would be sad or depressed about it. But it seems that Twilight accepted. And that made her happy, because Twilight Sparkle has evolved a lot since then.
“Where are you going after I become the ruler of Equestria?” asked Twilight Sparkle, now looking at Luna.
Luna looked at Twilight Sparkle confusedly. She was so glazed in her thoughts that she didn’t even hear Twilight’s question, “huh?”
“Where are you going after I become the ruler of Equestria?” Twilight Sparkle repeated the question.
“I don’t know yet, love. Maybe my sister and I travel all over Equestria. Just like when Celestia and I had a vacation”, replied Luna, now looking up at the night sky.
Twilight Sparkle looked a little unsure, “Do you promise to write to me?”
Luna looked at Twilight Sparkle, “I promise love. I’ll write every day”, Luna kissed Twilight Sparkle’s forehead. Twilight Sparkle smiled before she and Luna looked up at the night sky. Because Twilight and Luna knew: This would be the last time she and Luna would be together.
