//-------------------------------------------------------// Special Days -by Rainbowfan45- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// Picnics and Proposals //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note I've always kinda thought the other FlutterDash story I did should have a sequel. So, when presented with the perfect storyline, I nabbed the chance and here you go. Hope you enjoy. Also, special thanks to a group of awesome friends on Discord, without whom this tale probably would never have gotten written! Picnics and Proposals Rainbow was alot of things. Happy, excited, thrilled, shaking with anticipation...but oh Celestia, she was as nervous as could be. She was about to meet her sweetheart for a picnic...but this one was going to be more special than all the rest. First of all, Fluttershy knew nothing of a picnic...she had just been asked to meet in thier favourite meadow spot. Her gaze went over the items in the picnic basket. Some fruit, some cheese, a bottle of wine. Some cucumber sandwiches, which Fluttershy loved, and a certain little black box containing the specially ordered item needed for today's event. She rubbed a hoof through her mane, breathing deeply. "Ok, Rainbow Dash, you got this. You've prepared, you got your little speech memorised, just breathe! You're a Wonderbolt, for crying out loud, you can handle pressure!" These words did nothing to soothe her trembling nerves. She groaned. Well, it was time to do this. She placed the basket on her back and took a deep breath before walking out of her cloud home and flying to the meadow near Fluttershy's cottage. Of course the other was waiting for her. Rainbow couldn't help but smile as she landed softly near Fluttershy, the love and warmth in her sweetheart's eyes somehow managing to soothe her nerves where her self-calming speech had not. "Hey Flutters." She said, depositing the basket next to her. "H-hey Rainbow Dash." Fluttershy returned with a gentle smile. "What are we doing?" "Oh! Uh, I brought stuff to eat. A picnic, I mean...as a surprise. Surprise!" She motioned to the basket. Fluttershy giggled. "Aw, Rainbow, that's the best surprise!" She said happily, though she blushed a little. "Right? Um, here." Rainbow sat and opened the basket, lifting the plate of sandwhiches and offering it to Fluttershy, unable to hide the fact her hooves were trembling a little. Fluttershy didn't seem to notice. She accepted a sandwich. "So, um...what's all this for?" She asked, softly. "I mean, um, I-I'm not complaining, just...its the middle of the week and um, you had Wonderbolt practice..." "Yeah, well, you know," Rainbow said with a light cough. "They can live without my awesomeness for a day while I spend time with my marefriend, so...yeah." Fluttershy giggled and blushed simultaneously. She herself was feeling nervous, because she had a thought, and had acted on it with the help of thier friends, and she could only hope Rainbow loved it. "Are you ok, Dashie? You seem a little off..." "Wha? Me? Um...y-yeah? I mean, I'm good!" Meantime, niether noticed the light rustle if the nearby bushes as the friends that had helped out both mares stealthily hid to watch this scene unfold...and two of them face hoofing at Rainbow's stammering. "S-So." Rainbow held out the cheeses. "Um, try this!" "O-ok." Fluttershy accepted some and tasted it. "That's really good." "Sooo, you'd say, pretty grate?" Rainbow asked. Fluttershy blinked. "Was that a p-pun?" Rainbow blushed and coughed nervously, and Fluttershy giggled. "I guess, it is pretty grate..." "Its uh, cheddar than others!" Rainbow nodded. In the bushes, a lavendar head swung towards a pink one. "Pinkie Pie!" Twilight hissed. "You said you had the proposal covered!" "I did! I do! She does!" Pinkie whispered back. "She's just nervicited! She'll get it!" "But puns???" "Shhhhh! Watch!" Fluttershy shook her head slightly, amused by Rainbow's antics. "I-is this conversation going to end in a pun?" She asked, giggling a little. "Ummm...mayyyyybeee?" Rainbow said slowly. "Come on, Dashie, you got this, stick to the plan!" Pinkie hissed with a quiet giggle. "You are so silly sometimes, Dashie." "W-well, these are too gouda not to use! A-And you better brielieve it!!!" Rainbow said hastily...attempting to get her nervous brain back on track. Twilight facehoofed so hard it was a wonder it wasn't loud enough to be heard, and Rarity practically fainted at the pun usage, while Applejack rolled her eyes and muttered something unintelligible. Even Pinkie looked slightly taken aback by the final pun...which was definitely a bad one. Fluttershy, for her part, giggled a bit but gave Rainbow a slightly raised eyebrow look. Rainbow hastily sought to salvage this situation by changing the subject. Fast. "Ummm...Oh!!! We need something that goes great with cheese, right?!" "Like...?" Fluttershy asked softly, confused. Rainbow dug out the bottle she had packed. "Like, WINE!" "Wine?" Fluttershy looked slightly more confused and then giggled slightly. "Why-ne you'd bring that?" Rainbow snorted. "Ok...that was as bad as my last pun. I brought it to drink, duh! With the cheese! Well, I mean, not...drink the cheese, but, the wine. With it." "She's drownin' out there..." Applejack muttered. "An' its painin' me to watch." "Of all the worst possible things!" Rarity dramatically hissed...only to be shushed by Pinkie Pie pointing back to the two mares. Fluttershy blinked at Rainbow, and smiled a little. "Is there any better combination?" Her voice was soft. Any other pony would have seen that Fluttershy had basically just thrown out a life line, but Rainbow was so nervous at this point her brain refused to pick up on it. "Ummm...nope! ANYWAY!" She dug out two glasses from the basket. "Here we go!" Fluttershy giggled a bit. "Oh! Right...because we don't plan to drink it straight from the...right." Rainbow poured wine in both glasses and gave one to Fluttershy, her hooves visibly shaking. Fluttershy did notice this time, but said nothing, instead accepting the glass. "This is v-very random." She offered. Rainbow coughed a little, steeling her rapidly crumbling nerves. "Well...I'm random...though not as random as Pinkie Pie, but never mind...ANYWAY! Um, I'd like to propose a toast! And um...to you too..." "Yes!" Pinkie hissed, excitedly wiggling in the bushes. "You did it, Dashie!" Fluttershy had frozen in place, staring at Rainbow as she blushed furiously. "Wait...w-what...?" Rainbow inhaled deeply. "Lemme just...repeat that better. Fluttershy...w-will you marry me?" "That was better." Twilight mumbled as the group in the bushes waited for the response. Fluttershy dropped her glass in surprise, luckily onto the grass, and instantly started to cry a little. "Dashie, I...I..." Rainbow blinked, and looked more nervous. "Oh...oh Celestia...Flutters, d-don't cry, I didn't mean to make you cry..." She set her glass aside and pulled Fluttershy into a hug, hoping to help comfort her. "Yes, Rainbow Dash." The shy pegasus spoke softly against Rainbow's chest. Rainbow blinked. "Y-yes??? Wait, like, yes, yes??? YES! Oh Fluttershy!" She proceeded to hug the other mare tightly. Their audience just smiled. "I suppose that ending makes up for the hideous pun usage..."Rarity muttered. The group continued to watch, unable to help the grins at thier friends' exchange...bad puns aside. Rainbow, so relieved and happy, had entirely forgotten the item in the basket. She let go of Fluttershy and leaped into the air, doing a series of excited loops and spins before landing with a happy shout. Fluttershy, now looking both happy and nervous, approached. "H-hey Dashie? I have one more thing to say...b-but first, what's that?" She pointed a hoof. Rainbow spun to see, and Fluttershy, gulping down her nervousness, quickly produced a little black box and knelt, opening said box to display a ruby ring...a darker shade of the red in Rainbow's mane. "Where? I don't see anything." Rainbow peered, alert. "Oh um...must have been a s-shadow." Fluttershy said. "Uh, but, y-you know...Rainbow Dash, I had the s-same idea." Rainbow turned back around and her eyes went wide at the sight in front of her. "I...wha...huh...but...whaa??" She sputtered, speechless. Fluttershy somehow found the courage to talk without stammering as she giggled a little at her marefriend's dumbfounded expression. "I think I know the answer, because you asked me first, but...I can't just waste a ring, so..." She smiled up at Rainbow. "Will you marry me?" "Awwww!" Pinkie squirmed with starry eyes, grinning at the adorable scene. Rainbow stood slightly slack jawed for a moment, before shaking herself out of her stupor. "H-Heck yes!" She exclaimed, before seizing Fluttershy in a big hug. Fluttershy eeped and then giggled. "Question is, where to put this?" Rainbow said, grinning. "Oh! We could just have Twilight size it so I can wear it on my hoof...er, well, leg. Sort of." Fluttershy giggled. "Or we could have ring necklaces." "That works!" Rainbow said, grinning wider. "Dashieeee, the riiiiiiiing!" Pinkie hissed from the bushes...though of course Rainbow wouldn't hear. "She did get the ring, did she not?" Rarity asked quietly, arching an eyebrow. "Sweet Celestia, if she forgot such an important detail...I shall faint!" "Don't worry, Rarity, she got it!" Pinkie whispered back. At that moment, Rainbow suddenly recalled her own box in the basket. "Oh! Hey, uh, y'know, Flutters, I got my own thing, for you, so..." "Oh?" Fluttershy eyed her curiously. "Yeah!" Rainbow dove to grab the box, and turned, hiding it. "It's um, its special...just for you...cause well, you're special, so..." "Tarnation, Rainbow Dash!" Applejack muttered, facehoofing."Stop stammerin' an' just give it to her!" Rainbow held out the box, opening it, to display a silver ring set with three small green stones in the shape of butterflies. Fluttershy's eyes went incredibly wide. "Oh!" She exclaimed. "Oh, Rainbow Dash, its so...beautiful!" "I mean..." Rainbow said slowly. "Only the most beautiful ring for the most beautiful mare..." Fluttershy blushed deeply and eeped softly, but there was a smile on her lips at the statement, and Rainbow smiled back at her, eyes shining. "Sweet Celestia." Rarity breathed, eyes wide. "Who knew that Rainbow Dash could be so positively...romantic??" "She wasn't...until I got ahold of her." Twilight mumbled. "It took multiple books and hours of practice sessions before she could say anything romantic with stammering herself silly." Pinkie giggled while the other two shook their heads and smirked, imagining poor Twilight trying to teach Rainbow how to be romantic. They looked back at their friends. "So um...w-when...I mean, h-how...um, where...?" Fluttershy managed, thinking of the future wedding. "Ummmm...this weekend?" Rainbow offered slowly. "I mean uh...Saturday?" "Oh my goodness." Fluttershy's eyes were once more wide. "Too soon?" Rainbow asked, worriedly. "No no! But, um, that leaves us just two whole days to get r-ready...oh dear.." "We'll get the others to help." Rainbow grinned. "It'll be ok, Fluttershy. We can do it." Fluttershy smiled and hugged her tightly in response. Rainbow eased to sit in the grass, with Fluttershy wrapped in a hug. The group in the bushes awwwww'd at the sight, then quietly slipped away to leave them to themselves...and get ready to offer the soon to be asked for wedding planning assistance. Rainbow and Fluttershy, for thier part, just sat in the meadow grass with the gentle breeze blowing around them, happy to just be in other's company. //-------------------------------------------------------// Wedding Prep is Fun //-------------------------------------------------------// Author's Note This chapter has been written two years after the first xD Because being scatterbrained and suffering writers' block, then real life on top of that, I had forgotten I even still had this story. :facehoof: https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/facehoof.png Anyways, enjoy! Wedding Prep is Fun A flurry of activity had occured following the almost disasterous proposal- er, punposal, as Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash had come to refer to it. Rarity was put in charge of the wedding outfits, of course, and threw herself into making them the best and most fabulous in all of Equestria. Twilight was in charge of finding the perfect reception location, sending out invites to the list of ponies, and other creatures, that the excited couple provided her with, and just generally overseeing things getting done. Pinkie Pie did not even need to be told she was in charge of the catering, or the decorating. She had flat out announced before even being asked that she already the entire menu planned and the decorations decided on. Nopony questioned her or argued, leaving her free to do as she pleased. Applejack had been tasked with hauling things to and fro in her apple cart, helping with any necessary building or heavy lifting, and providing cider for the reception. She was also in charge of keeping Rainbow Dash from any untimely demise in the process, as the speedster's focus during flying or training was quite often broken by thoughts of her upcoming wedding...resulting in her having crashed into a tree once already. Fluttershy was over the moon. She was so happy and excited, but unlike her adorable mare friend she was able to force herself to focus better. She spent time teaching a song to her lovely birds for them to perform at the ceremony, and she also was completely clearing her cottage and redecorating, with Rarity's assistance. It had been decided that Rainbow Dash would be moving into the cottage, as it would be much better and easier for Fluttershy to still have constant contact with any creatures that needed it. In spite of all the chaos of prepping a wedding in two days, the two did manage to slip off a few times, and spent time in each other's company. One of these times was just after yet another trip to the boutique for yet another round of measuring and fitting by Rarity, because the perfectionistic fashionista was determined there should be absolutely no flaws in these designs. So after suffering patiently through it, on Fluttershy's part, and very much impatiently on Rainbow Dash's part, the two pegasi left the boutique and escaped to a quiet hill overlooking the town. They settled down in the lush green grass, under the shade of a towering oak tree, and breathed a collective sigh of relief. "Who knew wedding planning was so...so...intensive?" Fluttershy leaned against Rainbow, smiling as the other mare wrapped her wing around her, drawing her close to her side and kissing her head. "Well, we could elope." Rainbow pointed out, her tone playful. "Then all we need is me and you and somepony to marry us." "Oh dear. What would our friends think?" Fluttershy giggled, knowing full well Rainbow was teasing. "Well, let's see. Egghead would go into full Twilight Panic Mode level 10, Rarity would faint dead away, Applejack would determine to kick my flank, and Pinkie Pie would hunt us down and do...whatever she would do to us for taking away her right to plan the wedding party. I'm guessing tickle torture would be unavoidable." Rainbow Dash shuddered, thinking of the last time she had suffered that horrible fate. It was not something she cared to live through again. Who knew Pinkie Pie could be so...well, it was best not to get into that thought. No sir. Next to her, Fluttershy giggled loudly at her reaction. "The Princesses might have us put in a dungeon." She offered. "Or maybe banished and then locked in a dungeon in a place that they banish us to." "Aw shucks." Rainbow nuzzled her tenderly. "I will happily be banished and put in a dungeon as long as I'm with you." Fluttershy eeped softly as a light blush spread across her adorable face. She nuzzled Rainbow back and gave a happy sigh. Then she giggled. "With all the fates that would await us, maybe we better not elope." "Oh pony feathers." Rainbow huffed in mock disappointment. "Where is your sense of adventure? Being locked in a dungeon could be fun, you know. Because then we're together forever and always." "But we will be anyway." Fluttershy smiled at her. "We're going to be together forever and always no matter what." "Heck yeah." Rainbow grinned, and gave her a quick and gentle kiss. "Question. How do your animals feel about this?" Fluttershy laughed. "Rainbow Dash, we've been dating for ages and they knew that. As long as I'm happy, they're happy. Although Angel did want me to warn you that if you hurt me he was going to stab you with a carrot." Rainbow laughed at the image of the white bunny trying to impale her with a carrot. "Tell him not to worry. I would never hurt you." She hugged her tightly, nuzzling her neck. They sat in silence for awhile, gazing out across the hills and over the town, just enjoying each other's company, Fluttershy resting her head against Rainbow's chest and smiling softly at the steady and calming beat of her heart. "You know what we forgot?" Rainbow asked suddenly. "What?" "The honeymoon." Fluttershy sat up straight, eyes wide. "Oh dear! We did." Rainbow grinned at her, her magenta eyes sparkling. "And where would my wonderful, amazing, and absolutely beautiful bride to be like to go?" Despite the blush on her face, Fluttershy smiled and thought for a moment. "Is Las Pegasus ok? I would like to see some more of the sights there." "If Las Pegasus is what you want, then Las Pegasus is where we'll go." Fluttershy stared at her for a second, and then leaned closer and kissed her. Rainbow wrapped her up in her wings and returned it, softly sighing. "WHEEEEEEEEEE! THERE YOU TWO ARE!!" Their tender moment shattered by the familiar shrill voice, Rainbow and Fluttershy quickly broke apart. "Pinkie Pie!" Rainbow huffed in slight annoyance. Pinkie Pie just bounced in place, grinning wildly. "We have so much to do still! You two have to write your vows! Come on Dashie, I'm helping helping you with yours right now and Fluttershy's later!!" "Can it not wait just a little long- AAAA!!!" The last startled shriek as Rainbow was unceremoniously snatched by their hyperactive friend and flung on her back, where she bounced up and down as Pinkie Pie trotted away. "No time to waste silly filly! We gotta get those vows written!" "Bye Rainbow Dash!" Fluttershy called, giggling. "Byyyeeee Fluttershyyyy!" Rainbow yelled back, the bouncing causing her words to come out in jolts. "I love you!" Fluttershy barely got her response out before the two vanished in the distance. https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiesmile.png************************************* https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/pinkiesmile.png "Ok Dashie! One more time!" "Pinkie, are you sure these vows are gonna be fine?" "Oh stop worrying, Dashie! I pinkie promise Fluttershy will loooooooooveeee this!!! Now, let's go over it again! The officiator will look at you to say your vows and you will look in Fluttershy's eyes, reeeeeaalllllyyyyyy deeply like this-" Rainbow yelped as Pinkie was suddenly right in front of her, muzzle pressed against hers as her blues eyes stared intensely into her own. "-And then you'll sayyyyyyyy...?" Rainbow blinked. It was hard to focus on her vows with Pinkie Pie literally right in her face. The party pony had absolutely no respect for personal space in the slightest! Inhaling deeply, Rainbow forced herself to pull her slightly scrambled thoughts together. "Uh...I'll say uh...Fluttershy? I have been called many things in my life. Like awesome and cool, loyal, brash, daring, but in this moment I am so proud to be called your mare and uh..." She stopped, hesitating, forgetting what was next. Sensing her conundrum, Pinkie Pie drew back a little, grinning, and offered her a prompt. "Annnnnd I can't promise...?" "Can I start over?" Pinkie giggled. "I have an idea!" She bounded from the room, returning in minutes with a somewhat disheveled Twilight. "Pinkie, I have too many thing to do for you to drag me off on some escapade!" The youngest princess protested. "Now let go so I can- oh. Hello Rainbow." "I dragged you here so Dashie can practice her vows in a more realistic setting!" Pinkie said cheerfully. "You stand here, Twilight!" She shoved Twilight to the center of the room, then dragged Rainbow Dash over to stand facing her, before planting herself at the pegasus's side. "Ok! Now Twilight, you be the officiator, and I'll play Fluttershy so Dashie can practice!!" Twilight and Rainbow blinked. "Ok?" Twilight inhaled. "Dearly beloved ponies..." "Nononono!" Pinkie bounced in place. "Just skip to the vow part!" Twilight's eye twitched at being told NOT to follow the speech strictly as it was written, but she inhaled and tried again. "Rainbow Dash? Pink...er, Fluttershy? You two have written your own vows?" "Yes." "Yeppers!!" ". . . Pinkie Pie. Fluttershy doesn't say yeppers." "Ooh yeah, you're right!!" Pinkie inhaled and tried again, in the best impression she could possibly come up with, which wasn't exactly that good. "I mean, um...y-yes?" Twilight had to resist facehoofing. "Alright then. Who says their vows first?" Rainbow gulped audibly. "I-I guess I will." She slightly turned towards Pinkie Pie, who planted her muzzle up against hers and stared intensely into her eyes. Twilight was amused, and had to swallow a laugh. "Fluttershy." Rainbow inhaled. "I have been called many things in my life. Like cool, and awesome, brave, bold, daring, brash...but right now I can honestly say that I am proudest to be called your mare, and to call you mine." Her confidence had built considerably and she was able to remember the rest of the vows she'd written. "I can't promise you that it will be all roses and sunshine from here, because there will be some thorns along the way, but I do promise to love you with all my heart forever, and to take care of you and be here for you to lean on. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye." Twilight's eye twitched again at the use of the Pinkie Promise, but it was the most sacred promise a pony could make, so she decided it could just be left alone. Pinkie Pie grinned widely. "Yay! You did it, Dashie! You remembered all of it!" Rainbow inhaled and looked worriedly at Twilight. "You think she'll like it?" "I know she'll love it." Twilight assured her. Rainbow grinned in relief. Pinkie suddenly let out a major gasp. "Oh my gosh! Fluttershy's vows!" And with that, she bounced her way out of the window and vanished. https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightsmile.png**************************** https://static.fimfiction.net/images/emoticons/twilightsmile.png Fluttershy was busy attending her animals when a pink blur burst out of a cardboard carton with a loud squeal. "EEEEP!!" Fluttershy yelped, falling over backwards. "Oh! Pinkie Pie, you scared me." "Sorry! I'm here to work on your vows!! Dashie's are done, now we gotta do yours!" Pinkie leapt from her box and landed next to Fluttershy, who picked herself up off the ground and rubbed a hoof along her leg nervously. "Do-do you have an idea, because I, um, don't." She admitted timidly. "It needs to be as awesome as Rainbow Dash is." Pinkie grinned mischievously. "Do you remember her proposal?" "Oh of course! It was lovely, puns and all." Fluttershy smiled. "Weeeeelllllll...how would you like to do the same kind of thing for your vows to her?" Pinkie was now grinning from ear to ear. "You mean puns?? Oh...oh my. Um, well, I-I could try. Rainbow Dash might like that." "Oh she will. Because I have an idea for a theme for it. She used cheese as her theme. Why don't you use a creature? Liiiiiikeeee how about cats?" Fluttershy blinked, suddenly imagining all the cat puns one could use, and giggled. "Let's go in the cottage and you can tell me your idea." Pinkie giggled as she followed Fluttershy inside. Ohhh yes, Rainbow Dash was going to get pun vows, and it was going to be epic! She paused outside the door briefly and then- "HEY! YOU! WRITER!" What, me? "YES YOU. NO WRITING HER PUN VOWS DOWN. I WANT IT TO BE A SURPRISE!!" Oh. But I was.... "NO. WRITING. IT. DOWN. WAIT TIL THE WEDDING CHAPTER!!" Ok, ok. Sheesh. -and then with a laugh she went inside and slammed the door for the top secret pun vow planning session. //-------------------------------------------------------// Wedding Bells Ring //-------------------------------------------------------// Wedding Bells Ring "It's here! It's here! It's here!" Pinkie Pie bounced up and down in massive excitement, not doing much except get in the way as the wedding guests got themselves situated into their seats and awaited the actual ceremony. Rainbow was nervously alternating between pacing and trotting in place, sweat breaking out on her forehead. "Ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh! What if I forget my vows?! What if I mess up the kiss?! What if I faint?!!" "Darling, please!" Rarity huffed, attempting to make last minute adjustments to the nerve wracked mare's suit. "You will do fabulously, I'm sure of it. Don't fret so!" "Yeah! Don't even think about how you could mess up and everypony might laugh, and Fluttershy might get terrified and might think she should never have agreed to marry you, and she might run out, you might pass out cold on the floor and-" "PINKIE PIE!" Rarity all but shrieked, seeing the increase of nervous sweat on Rainbow. "What?" Pinkie tilted her head. "Not helping!" "Ooh! Sorry!!! I'll go quadruple check the food!" Pinkie bounced away and Rarity rolled her eyes in exasperation as she carefully adjust the white rose tucked into the buttonhole of Rainbow's suit jacket. "I'm so nervous, Rarity! What if-" "No!" Rarity planted her hoof on Rainbow's mouth, effectively silencing her. "Darling, you are Rainbow Dash! Elite Wonderbolt! Protector of Equestria! Element of Harmony! The bravest, boldest, most daring pony ever! You can do this!" Rainbow blinked, a grin forming with each statement, and at the conclusion she stomped her hoof in determination. "Yeah! I got this! No sweat!" Rarity slightly smirked as she levitated a towel over and mopped the sweat off Rainbow's face, making her statement true. "I believe in you, darling!" "Whooeeee, Rainbow Dash, ya sure do look mighty fine!" Applejack announced. "Why, Fluttershy is gonna be plumb fallin' in love with ya even harder, ya look so dandy!" "Thanks! I think." Rainbow inhaled. "Gosh darn it, why is it taking so long!! Maybe I better go see what's up." "Whoa now, simmer down Sally." Applejack dragged her back. "Why, it's plumb bad luck to see the bride before the weddin'! They'll be along." Rainbow trotted in place anxiously until Twilight stepped forward and signaled to Fluttershy's birds, who started chirping and whistling their time in perfect harmony. Rainbow stopped trotting, eyes glue on the doors of the town hall. They slowly swung open to reveal none other than Fluttershy, dressed in the stunning white dress Rarity had designed, with pastel colored butterflies and flowers carefully embroidered into it. At the front of the aisle, Rainbow stood slack jawed, completed in awe of the sight of her gorgeous bride slowly coming towards her. Next to her, in the best mare position, Applejack reached over and closed her mouth for her, smirking. Rainbow shook her head hard to clear it, and smiled widely as Fluttershy reached her and took her place next to her in from of the mayor, who had been chosen as officiator. Twilight and Rarity stood near Fluttershy as bridesmares, and Pinkie bounced excitedly next to Applejack, having also been picked as best mare by Rainbow. The birds finished their song, and the guests all sat, waiting with eager anticipation. Mayor Mare cleared her throat loudly. "Ladies and gentlecolts, and foals, we are gathered here today to join these two in holy maretrimony. If anypony has any reason this should not happen, please speak up or just be quiet." "No one is arguin', get on with it!!" Yelled an ecstatic Scootaloo. Mayor Mare snorted. "Rainbow Dash? Fluttershy? I believe you two wrote your own vows?" "Yes." Rainbow nodded. "Um...y-yes." Fluttershy timidly put in. "Very well. Would you please exchange your vows?" They looked at each other. "I...guess I'll go first?" Rainbow offered, inhaling. "Fluttershy." She paused. Fluttershy waited. They all did. Rainbow turned slightly pale as she realized her entire vow speech had left her brain. Next to her, realizing the problem, Pinkie hissed loudly, "I've been called!" Rainbow jolted. "Fluttershy! I've been called many things in my life. Awesome, cool, daring, brave, brash...but right now I can honestly say I am proud to be called your mare, and prouder still to call you mine. I can't promise things will be all sunshine and roses from here on out, because I know we'll have thorns too, but I can promise that I will love you with all my heart forever, and that I will support you and help you and be somepony you can lean on and count on. Cross my heart and hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye!" Fluttershy was blushing intensely, but her eyes never left Rainbow's, and she kept smiling. When she realized Rainbow was done, she drew a deep breath, and then blinked, eyes widening as she realized she'd completely forgotten her own vows. Pinkie danced up and down, wiggled her snout, and made a loud meowing noise. Applejack facehoofed, while Twilight and Rarity stared at Pinkie Pie, one in shock, the other in complete mortification. The brief distraction allowed Fluttershy to somewhat recall the words as she looked in Rainbow's eyes once more. "I love you with all my heart, Rainbow Dash. And I'm not even kitten." Rainbow's eyebrows rose in a mix of astonishment and mirth. "Was that a pun?" "Maybe." Fluttershy giggled. "I don't know what our future holds, but I know with you it's going to be a purrfect adventure and I can't wait to see what tails we will tell." She became serious. "I promise to always love you, forever, and to be somepony you can trust and count on with anything and everything. Always. Pinkie promise." Rarity had nearly fainted at the first pun, and everypony else was collectively groaning and simultaneously snickering as Fluttershy finished her vows. Mayor Mare cleared her throat to calm things down. "Do you have the rings?" Applejack gave Rainbow Fluttershy's ring, and Twilight gave Fluttershy Rainbow's ring. Each ring had been place on a gold chain. The couple looked at each other. "Rainbow, please put the ring on Fluttershy and repeat after me...I Rainbow, take you Fluttershy, to be my lawful wife." Rainbow placed the ring necklace on her beloved, smiling as she repeated the phrase. "Fluttershy." Fluttershy put the ring she held on Rainbow and said the words, smiling as tears of joy welled up in her eyes. Rarity was sniffling uncontrollably, dabbing at her eyes with a hoofkerchief. Mayor Mare grinned. "By the power vested in me by the Rulers of Equestria, I now pronounce you mare and wife. Rainbow Dash, you may now kiss-" Rainbow didn't even wait. She grabbed her bride and kissed her enthusiastically, while everypony laughed and cheered. When they broke apart, they turned around and walked the aisle together, leading the way out of the town hall. *************************************** Pinkie had outdone herself with the reception. There were plenty of delicious main courses and a ton of desserts. The wedding cake was four tiers tall, with a small statue of Rainbow and Fluttershy on the top of it. It was appropriately decorated in blue and yellow, with a mix of candy flowers and rainbows carefully placed around its sides. Following the actual meal, Pinkie Pie practically screamed into a megaphone, "ITS TIME TO CUT THE CAKE!! DASHIE AND FLUTTERSHY, GET UO HERE!!" The newlyweds joined her at the table, accepted the knife, and together they cut the cake. As everypony cheered them on, they each took a piece of it and leaned in to feed it to each other. With an impish grin, Rainbow deliberately missed and planted the cake on her wife's face. Fluttershy blinked. "Rainbow!" She scolded, though smiling. "Whaaaaaat?" Rainbow said innocently. Fluttershy simply retaliated by grabbing more cake and mashing it onto Rainbow's head. "Wha-!" Rainbow spluttered. She flung a chunk of cake at Fluttershy, who tried to dodge, only to get hit in the stomach with it. "Rainbow Dash! You can't cover me in cake!" Rainbow smirked, captured her in a hug, and whispered something in her ear. Fluttershy turned impossibly red and squeaked. Laughing, Rainbow tugged her along to rejoin the others and they were suddenly buried under a pile of wedding gifts. Once their friends dug them out, the couple faced the group. "Thanks for all this, and for coming to the wedding." Rainbow said. "But now if you'll excuse us, we have a honeymoon to get to! Hey Egghead!! Can you just take the gifts to your place and we'll get them when we get back?" "Of course." Twilight responded. "Also your carriage awaits outside." "What?" The two walked outside to find a chariot with two out of uniform royal guards. "We have been tasked to take you wherever you wish." One of them explained. Rainbow and Fluttershy climbed in. "Las Pegasus, please." Fluttershy requested, and the guards took flight. Rainbow wrapped her wife in a hug and nuzzled her. "I am so happy to share my life with you." "Me too." "I love you, Fluttershy." "I love you too, Rainbow Dash." Snuggled together in the seat, they gazed out into the distance as they were transported through the sky and into a brand new life together.
