Clear crystal skies, the clam humming of insects and the general feel of peace has always been this forest’s strong points despite its dangers. However the most astonishing about the Everfree is its origin as unlike other forests the Everfree was born out of a castle of the same name. Castle Everfree was once the seat of the royal sisters and equestria as a whole, with its unique diamond shaped layout, exotic fabrics in the old banners and old armour of the royal guard in neat rows in the many hallways of the castle. But even with such marvels the castle was left alone because of the dark memories left in its final days a thousand years ago. Though there were many exceptions as of recently tonight is no different. Through the night sky flew two familiar beings, the eternal princess Celestia and Twilight, the latter whom has a couple of saddle bags on her person. The two flew in relative silence with only the gust of wind and the nosies from the wood below being the dominant sounds in the area. It wasn’t long before the two finally arrived at the castle and landed in the old throne room of the ancient structure. Moving to a spot behind the thrones Celestia used her magic to activate a hidden door built into the wall, once fully opened she gestured with a wing for Twilight to follow her into a secret tunnel that by all accounts was far older then the castle itself. As they moved deeper and deeper into the tunnel the rocks around them gave way to refined stone and metal as well as carvings in said walls of the tunnel showing pictures of worlds and people’s of different sizes, colours, rules and so on and so on. Twilight knows to an extent what these carvings mean and just focused on following Celestia through the tunnel. After a while the two came upon a large steel door engraved with runes and crystals alike. Walking to said door Celestia used her magic once again to ignite the magic artefacts on its frame before stepping back to let the door open. Once opened the two would come into a sphere shaped room with several mirrors on raised pillars near the walls of the room and a runed circle in the middle of the raised sections of the room. The circle had four sharp points in four directions like a compus and each point had a crystal in each one, it also had one large pointed crystal in the center with its tip pointing skyward. “So this is it?” Twilight asked as she observed the room taking in its amazingly old and unique architecture different from the castle above. “It is indeed Twilight” Celestia said as she trotted towards the large crystal in the center and used her magic to interface with it. Almost immediately various coloured veins leading to many of the mirrors come to life and the glass on one such mirror turns into a familiar portal of swirling colours. Walking towards the mirror with Twilight in tow Celestia made sure the portal was working properly before turning back to Twilight. “Now Twilight I probably know the answer already but are you sure you want to do this?” The princess of the sun asked. Taking a breath the princess of friendship replied with determination “Even if the chances of me returning are slim I’d rather take the risk and strive to become stronger to protect those I care about then to let all I stood for be destroyed because of my self-doubt. Plus I’m sure even if equestria was in danger again I have faith in my friends to keep our home safe if or when I return.” Celestia looked on for a moment before nodding and stepping aside leaving the portal clear for Twilight to enter but before she could do so Celestia said “Then until we meet again my favourite student, stay safe.” “Old habits I guess, we probably won’t we see each other again at least not person anyway.” Twilight thought before she embraced her mother figure and then hopped into the portal leaving the Solar princess on her own. Turning away from the portal as it closed Celestia sighed as the magic from the large crystal faded. “Even if it was made by the most capable beings of Aurora a machine can only last for so many ages. ” She thought as she went back to the throne room before making her way to the castle entrance. Looking back at her old home one more time Celestia took a breath before extending her wings and then she took flight back to her new home for the last thousand years. “Please stay safe Twilight.” Celestia thought as she flew through out the night of her sister back to Canterlot. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE LEFT!?” A certain rainbow maned Pegasus shouted to a certain princess of the moon. As Celestia and Twilight went to the old castle Luna was asked to inform the other element bearers of Twilight’s “issue” so to speak and needless to say they were a bit mad (except for Pinkie and Fluttershy) and not just from being awake in the middle of the night in their own new castle but as to WHY Twilight was supposedly “leaving” them the maddest being Rainbow dash because of how sudden it was. Sighing a bit Luna explained ”I mean Rainbow that Twilight is taking a pilgrimage of sorts to help with a certain problem since you all gained this castle.” “W-What do you mean princess?” Fluttershy asked in her usual shy tone. Turning to the bearer of kindness Luna continued to explain “Ever since you all defeated Tirek Twilight has since been plagued by nightmares of that event and every time it happens it always ends with Tirek wining because Twilight was not strong enough. Though I did try to ease her pain it was clear to both me and my sister that this was apart of being an Alicorn as at some point in their lives Alicorns would have dreams that could not be cured by magic in any mental capacity and usually would involve their lack of capabilities , so with a bit of effort the old alicorns created the same mirror portals like the one to dear sunset’s world but unlike that one these can be set to different worlds that the old alicorns had encountered in the past, and the one common trait these mirrors have is that every world they are connected to would have something unique to help the Alicorn find their ‘true strength’ which is the absolute confidence in their own abilities.” “So Twilight’s going somewhere that will help with her mental health in a way is that whach ya saying?” Asked the bearer of honesty. “Yes dear Applejack that is correct though it is not without its dangers.” Luna warned. “Let me guess there’s no grantee that any of those portals are working well enough to send Twilight back is that right?” Rainbow asked anger clear in her voice because of the potential dangers her friend could be in and could do nothing to help her. Turning to the Pegasus Luna replied “Sadly you are correct young dash but fortunately tia thought ahead to give Twilight a massage book like the one young Sunset has so she will be in contact with us but as to how often will depend on the world in question.” The mane six all sat there in the throne room absorbing all the information in until Fluttershy spoke again “W-Why would she risk herself like th-that? Smiling Luna once more explained “Because she did not want to let all of you down in the event equestria comes under threat again and she also said she trusts all of you to look our home in her stead.” “THEN WE WON’T LET HER DOWN RIGHT MARES!?” Pinkie shouted hoping to lift everypony’s spirts up as she always do. “Pinkie’s right darlings Twilight has full faith in our abilities and I for one do not want to let her down.” Rarity said. As the girls all conversed with each other about the subject Luna sensed a presence in her mind. “She’s through sister I’ll see you back at Canterlot” The voice of Celestia spoke in her mind. Nodding to herself Luna garbed the Element bearers attention before saying “Well then everypony I must be off I still have night court after all and tia should be back soon, until then say safe and make young Twilight proud.” “WE WILL!” They yelled whilst Luna made her way outside before spreading her own wings and taking flight back to Canterlot. “I’m sure you will my little ponies.” The moon princess thought as she flew home under her night sky. The first thing Twilight noticed when her senses came back to her was that her body was in that familiar human shape judging by how she felt where her limbs are and second that she was in a crowd judging by the amount of voices she’s overhearing. “Well this might make things difficult, I’d rather not answer questions to people when I don’t know where I am.” Twilight thought as see got up into a siting position helped by someone from the crowd given the sensations on her arms. “Hey! You okay?” A voice said in front of her as she finally opened her eyes. Kneeling in front of her was a man in his late thirties and has black skin and red eyes, his attire included a white collared shirt underneath a heavy blue jacket with two white stripes on his left arm and a piece of armour on his chest with the words “POLICE” coloured in red on it. He also has a walkie-talkie attached to the front left of his jacket as well as some utility pouches strapped to each leg and a belt running along his waist with utility pouches on each side, finally he had a black cap with the same words as his chest plate but white instead of red. “Y-Yes.” Was all Twilight could say at the moment as she was still dazed by the travel through the portal. The man nodded and then pulling his left arm across himself forming a L shape a hologram appeared in front of him surprising and intriguing Twilight. As he looked at the hologram Twilight took the opportunity to examine her surroundings. She was in some sort of hallway leading to a large lobby on her right whilst the left was obscured by the large crowd, she was leaning against a wall with some sort of hologram like on the Police officer and the floor was made of wood. Other then that Twilight couldn’t see much from her position due to the crowd and the officer in front of her. “Hey! Marcel you alright?” A slightly rough voice said from where the crowd was as another man in similar attire to the first came out of the group of people, the only difference was that instead of black skin and red eyes this officer had white skin and green eyes. Turning to the newcomer the one now known as Marcel said “Yeah I’m fine Tyler just found someone who-wait a second. “ Crouching next to his partner Tyler asked “What is it buddy?” It was then that Twilight noticed that the hologram was flashing in some areas and some words formed in front of it, althrough it was spelled backwards for Twilight given her angle she was able to make out what it says. [NO CORRUPTION] “Somehow I doubt that’s a good sign.” Twilight thought as Marcel said. “SHE HAS NO REDMATTER CORRUPTION!” Ignoring the confusion on Twilight’s face Tyler said “What do you mean ‘She has no red-matter corruption’?” Turning to his partner Marcel explained “While I was doing my portal in the lobby I saw signs of gate opening but when it DID open she fell out unconscious, at first I thought she’d just escaped but then i realised how often people that get kidnapped into the astral plane and how most of them end up unconscious after said kidnapping and now that I’m looking at her vitals I can see that she has absolutely no traces of Redmatter on her despite just being kidnapped in the astral plane by Chimeras period.” THAT made some people in the crowd gasp with shock or surprise whilst others had questionable looks that require answers, some even voicing these questions out loud. “No Red matter?” “How’s that possible?” “Is it some sort of glitch?” “What does this mean?” “Is she not human?” “Why’d the gate close on its own?” These were just a few but they told Twilight one thing. “I’m gonna have to explain things sooner then I’d like...weather I like it or not.” She thought. Before she could contemplate things further Marcel said “Ma’am we’re gonna have to take you into questioning will that be alright?” With a nod the officer helped Twilight to her feet and then lead her to the lobby. The main lobby or “Entrance hall” as it is officially called was quite large as expected from the only mall on humanities last refuge, large holographic billboards, car displays and other such attractions would make one think that this is the entirety of the mall whereas in actuality it is but one part of the massive complex. As Twilight and her escort came through the hall the pony turned human couldn’t help but awe at the sheer scale of the building she was in, implying that unlike the humans of CHS these humans are much more technologically advanced. “I have a feeling architecture isn’t all that they developed.” Twilight thought as she eyed the strange devices that the officers had on the side of their waists. It wasn’t anything special just some rectangular shaped hand griped....thing that had a blue line going across it and had a more black-blocky bottom area. As Twilight continued to ponder the use of such a device she failed to notice Marcel holding his right hand to his ear as he and his partner came to a stop in the middle of the hall. Before she overtook them Twilight came to a stop in between the two police officers and from there she could hear something coming from Marcel’s ear. [-Repeat! All officers in Zone 32 are to stand by on red alert status! We have reports of several suspects making their way through the Zone with stolen aegis equipment including Anti-Chimera weapon prototypes! All available officers are to apprehend them on sight!] “This is Marcel with Tyler at Ark mall Roger!” “W-What’s going on?” Twilight asked dreading the answer. Turning to her Marcel explained “ We’ve just got a call from dispatch saying to be on alert for any dangerous suspects that may come-“ BANG! BANG! BANG! Turning to the source of the gunshots the trio saw five heavy clothed people at the entrance with what looks to be the leader holding a heavy looking revolver in his hand pointed straight up. As everyone scattered for cover Twilight and co included the leader who wore a black and orange great coat with a black shirt underneath and had blackened glasses and a lower face mask, yelled in a demanding tone. “All right listen up! We don’t want any trouble with you nor do we want hurt you so here’s how this is gonna go, you WILL let us pass, you WILL not interfere with us and you WILL praise lady Anderson for her generosity today! I’m I CLEAR!?” “Oh you’re CLEAR alright!” Shouted Tyler as he and Marcel jumped out over their cover and (to Twilight’s amazement) took out their rectangular devices which transformed into pistols of some sort whilst taking some sort of battle-stance. “CLEAR for arresting!” Shouted Marcel finishing his partner’s sentence. At that Twilight couldn’t help but chuckle at that last part but not sure why. Turning to two of his subordinates the leader said “ Brother Adams, sister Miki head towards the RV point and get the truck ready we’ll handle these poor souls.” “You DO realise we can hear you right!?” Tyler said as he and Marcel inched closer and widening the distance between each other each step they take. “Yes brother Michael!” Both Adams and Miki replied seemingly ignoring the two cops as they sprinted out of the entrance hall. “So it’s a three v two situation huh?” Marcel commented as the two remaining members took an aggressive stance whilst ‘Michael’ simply stood there with his hands behind his back “I like those odds”. “(Sighs) so which do-“ Tyler started before a ”YET!” was heard as Marcel seemingly flung himself at the leader as his weapon transformed again into a heavy-looking great-sword. However before said great sword made contact with its target it clashed with another equally impressive weapon. “(Gasps) That’s!-“ Marcel said before he was flung back into Tyler and together they went over where twilight was and landed on one of the cars at the end of the hall. Michael said nothing as he sheathed a similar looking great sword before turning to his henchmen. “Let’s finish this and catch up with the others” he said. Before the three could close in for the kill however. “STOP!” Twilight yelled as she stood in front of the assailants with her arms spread wide. Taken aback by this sudden action only for but a moment Michal said “You would defend those would not accept the truth?” At that Twilight replied “Is hurting them worth this truth of yours!?” “Hurting them will only prolong their suffering we intend to finish this permanently!” Michal shouted surprising Twilight. As Michal and his two henchmen close in Twilight crept back towards the downed officers, arms still spread wide and her steps slightly in sync with her assailants. Soon however her back hit the car and was thus trapped with Michal’s henchmen spreading to Twilight’s left and right to ensure zero chance of escape. Facing him square in the glasses Twilight said to Michal “Permanently!? You mean KILL!? Is this lady Anderson worth killing for!?” At that both the henchmen and Michal tightened their stances and Twilight began to slightly regret her choice of words as Michal yelled “YOU-LADY ANDERSON HAS GIVEN MANKIND THE CHANCE OF SURVIVAL AND YOU SAY OUR ACTIONS ARE NOT WORTH IT!!??” Taking a step forward Michal began to continue his rant not caring about the groans behind Twilight. “WHAT HAS THE UNION DONE TO SACURE MAN’S FUTURE?! BUILD AN ISLAND FOR THOSE WORTH MORE THEN OTHERS!? ISOLATE INNOCENTS ON SAID ISLAND!? OR KILL THE VERY ONE WHO OFFERS SALVATION!!?” “What have I gotten myself into? An island? Isolated people? Salvation!? From what!?” Twilight thought as Michal took out his sword just a few feet away from Twilight. “IF YOU DO NOT SHARE MAN’S NEED TO SURVIVE THEN I SHOULD JUST-“ Before Michal could finish cries of agony are heard from his left and right. Looking to his sides Michal is shocked to see Tyler and Marcel standing over his henchmen with their weapons pointed towards him. “You know it’s very rude to yell at young women right?” Marcel said with a smirk as he and Tyler readied themselves. “Ma’am please get to safety will hold him off” Tyler said stepping behind Michal to avoid a repeat of last time. Not wanting to be asked twice Twilight made a dash for safety as she left those brave men to fight the criminal. “Be safe” She prayed to them as she ran through a unfamiliar building in a unfamiliar world. I won’t spoil anything (at least here) but this DOES take place after the game so I’d recommend playing the game to familiarise yourself with the game’s story and setting.
