It’s been a few years, and now Twilight Sparkle ruled Equestria with Spike by her side. Although Twilight had to leave Friendship Castle, she knew it was necessary. It was amazing how she stayed in Ponyville to learn about the magic of friendship and now she had to return to Canterlot to start ruling. She can’t help but notice that her friends were old now. And that bothered her because when her friends are no longer with her, Twilight didn’t know if she could rule Equestria without her friends. She knew she should accept that, but Twilight was bothered by this business of being immortal. Because she knew that when her friends are no longer here, Twilight knew that her friends were still alive. But the future worried her. Would she be able to rule Equestria without her friends?
Suddenly a sound of doors opening caught her attention. Twilight looked where the sound came from and saw it was Gallus. He wore golden royal guard armor, “Princess, you have a visitor. Would you like me to call her to enter the throne room?”
Twilight was surprised. Who would be the pony who would visit her? Was it her student Luster Dawn? Well, just calling the guest to know, “let her in”
Gallus bowed before leaving the throne room to call the guest. Twilight still wondered who the guest was. She heard footsteps and to her surprise, it wasn’t her student, but it was…
“Princess Luna?” asked Twilight Sparkle, now confused.
Luna was smiling at her, “hi, love”
Twilight got up from the throne and went to Luna to hug her, “How long, Luna. How is your retirement with Celestia?”
Luna smiled as Twilight hugged her. She hugged back, “It’s fine, love. Celestia feels freer than before when she and I take a vacation for a day”
Twilight, still smiling, came out of the hug and said, “How about you? How it feels?”
“I’m fine, love,” replied Luna. “Would you like to go out with me for a date?”
Twilight looked uncertain. She scratched her knee as she looked sideways and bit her lip, “I don’t know, Luna. I may end up having things to do today”
Luna’s smile fell, “Are you busy now, love?”
Twilight looked at Luna now, “well, I’m not busy right now. But maybe later I’ll be busy later”
“Twilight, if you’re not busy right now, I see no reason why you won’t accept it”, said Luna with a smile.
Twilight thought before answering. She looked to the side, “but what if I have something important for me to do while I’m gone. I don’t want to disappoint my subjects”
“Twilight, when my sister and I ruled Equestria, we always had time to have fun”, said Luna, putting a shell on Twilight.
Twilight looked at Luna, “Really, Luna?”
Luna, still smiling, said, “yes, love”
Twilight still seemed uncertain about that, “I don’t know yet, Luna”
“Come on, love. Trust me”, said Luna, still smiling.
Twilight let out a sigh of defeat before looking at Luna, “ok. I think I can hang out with you a little,” Twilight glanced back ,“ Spike”
“Yes, Twilight?” asked Spike.
“If a document comes to me that I have to sign, could you sign it for me while I’m gone?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“Sure, Twilight”, replied Spike.
Twilight nodded and started walking. Luna follow Twilight, “so where are we going?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“I was planning on eating at a Canterlot restaurant and then going to the park to spend time together”, replied Luna.
Twilight smiled at that, “I’m sure this date will be great”
Luna kissed Twilight’s cheek, “I think so too, love”, Twilight blushed when Luna kissed her cheek. Luna smiled as she saw Twilight blush. Making your Marefriend blush was very easy.
When they arrived at the restaurant, Twilight and Luna waited to be met.
“How are things with you ruling Equestria?” asked Luna, now curious.
“They’re good. No threats are coming”, replied Twilight Sparkle, with a smile.
A skin-colored unicorn with brown mane went to the two. She held a notepad and a quill. The mare bowed to see Twilight Sparkle, “p-princess Twilight! Luna! what would you two like to eat?”
Twilight and Luna got a menu to choose from. Twilight stared for a moment before looking at the waitress, “I’d like a daffodil sandwich with daisies, please”
The unicorn raised an eyebrow, “Just the sandwich?”
“Yes. Just the sandwich”, confirmed Twilight Sparkle.
The mare noted, before looking at Luna, who was still looking at the menu, “What about you, Luna? What would you like to eat or drink?”
Luna stared at the menu for a moment before looking at the waitress, “I’d like daffodil sandwich with daisies too”
The waitress took note of Luna’s order before leaving to warn the boss. Luna glanced at Twilight, “Do you feel reassured now that you have no more villains to beat?”
“Yes. But the future worries me, Luna”, said Twilight Sparkle.
Luna raised an eyebrow, “Why does the future worry you, love? There’s no villain in Equestria anymore”
“I know, Luna. But what if Cozy Gloom, Lord Tirek and Chrysalis cease to be a Discord-like statue that ceased to be a statue in the thousandth year?” asked Twilight Sparkle worriedly as she glanced sideways.
“Love, they will not stop being stones. You can trust me”, said Luna.
Twilight Sparkle looked at Luna. She was about to speak, but the waitress brought them both sandwiches. Twilight Sparkle looked at her sandwich before looking at Luna and realizing that her Marefriend was already eating. Twilight Sparkle took the sandwich with her magic and began to eat.
When they both finished eating, Twilight and Luna paid before they headed toward the park. Twilight Sparkle was still worried about the future of Equestria. Would the three enemies stop being stones in the next thousandth year? And when your friends no longer have here? How would she stop them without her friends?
“Love, are you alright?” asked Luna, noticing Twilight’s worried look.
Twilight Sparkle looked at Luna, “I’m just nervous”
“Nervous about what?” Wanted to know Luna. They sat down.
“I’m nervous about the future of Equestria”, answered Twilight Sparkle.
“Twilight, I already said they’re now statues. There is no way they can break free”, said Luna.
“But what if they break free in the thousandth year like Discord?” asked Twilight Sparkle. Luna was silent. She hadn’t thought of that.
“And if they come back in the thousandth year, how will I stop them, Luna? The elements of harmony are already broken and my friends and student will have died by then”, said Twilight Sparkle.
Luna couldn’t deny that what Twilight said was true. If the trio really stopped being a statue next thousandth year, she knew Twilight would have to deal with it on her own. And now? What would she say to Twilight? She began to think about this situation that Twilight was going through.
As Luna thought, Twilight looked down sadly with her ears down. Twilight knew she was worrying for nothing. But she couldn’t stop thinking about it.
“Twilight”
Twilight looked at her Marefriend. Twilight figured that Luna would tell her the answer, so she was quiet to listen.
“I understand your concern, love. You think the spell isn’t permanent, right?” Twilight Sparkle nodded in response.
“Love. Me and my sister know that the petrification spell is permanent”, said Luna with a smile.
Twilight seemed safer with that. But there was still something that bothered her. Luna noted the concern in Twilight, “love? Are you alright?”
Twilight stopped looking sideways and looked at Luna, “I’m worried about the future, Luna”
Luna looked confused, “about Chrysalis, Cozy Gloom and Tirek breaking free of their stone prisons? Love, I already said: There is no way for them to break free, even if thousands of years go by”
“I already know that, Luna. I am already calmer with this. But there’s something else that worries me”, said Twilight Sparkle, now looking down.
“But what worries you the most, love?” asked Luna.
“That I can’t rule Equestria without my friends”, replied Twilight Sparkle, still looking down.
Luna made an O with her mouth. She had always known that this subject of immortality bothered Twilight, especially now that her love was ruling Equestria. Luna began to think of a solution so that Twilight wouldn’t feel lonely and depressed when her friends were gone. Until, Luna had an idea that could help Twilight. She looked at Twilight, “love”
Twilight stopped looking at the floor and looked at Luna. She imagined that Luna would answer her question, “yes?”
“I have an idea how to solve this problem of yours”, said Luna with a smile.
Twilight’s ears brightened, “Really? How? What’s your idea?”
“You could make new friends as soon as your friends die”, suggested Luna.
Twilight seemed a little stunned by this answer, but soon recovered and looked down at the floor and her ears lowered, “It won’t be the same, Luna”
Luna hugged Twilight like a wing as she smiled, “Twilight, I’m sure you’ll find new friends who will like you just like your friends now”
Twilight still seemed uncertain about that, “I don’t know, Luna…”
“Twilight, I understand what you’re going through”, said Luna with a smile.
Twilight looked at Luna, “Really, Luna?”
Luna nodded as she smiled, “Yes, love. Before I was banished to the moon, I had friends. And when I turned Nightmare Moon, they tried to help me. But I didn’t hear them. And not listening to them, resulted in me being banished to the moon”
Twilight was worried, “did you hurt them?”
“No, love. Despite everything I’ve been through, I never had the courage to hurt my first friends,” replied Luna, before she started to cry. “If I hadn’t turned into Nightmare Moon, I’m sure I would have spent a lot of time with them and I wouldn’t have felt guilty, especially since now that they die, I…”
“Luna, please. Stop crying”, asked Twilight Sparkle, already sad about the story. She never imagined that Luna had friends in the past. In the books that she read, it said nothing about it.
Luna wiped her tears with a hoof, she smiled at Twilight, “sorry, love. But is that you reminded me of me in the past”
Twilight managed to smile, “so? Will you make new friends when your friends now die?” asked Luna.
Twilight started to think. After hearing this story, she can realize that Luna felt the same way that Twilight will feel when her friends die: Sadness.
“Yes, Luna. I will”, answered Twilight Sparkle, determined. Luna smiled at the answer before kissing Twilight Sparkle.
When the kiss ended, Luna and Twilight blushed. Luna looked at Twilight, “Twilight”
Twilight looked at Luna, “yes?”
“Is it okay if I sleep with you in your castle room?”asked Luna with a smile.
Twilight smiled back, “Luna, you know you’re always welcome in the castle”

Before you come ask me, I'll answer: No. Twilight's friends didn't die. What she meant about her friends not being with her anymore meant that her friends weren't ruling along side with her.
