Author's Note
This is my first story I wrote a long time ago, it probably shows. I just wanted to get this story out there to gain tips on writing and learn how to write better. With the show ending I really want to get better at writing and actually contribute something to this wonderful fandom I have been apart of for a long time. Any tips in the comments would be great so I could become a better author.
Opened Eyes
Inside the glom cage, twilight was useless, she couldn't do anything as she watched other ponies… the friends she once had, everyone being caged. She had failed and she knew that. Tempest Shadow, the pony who caused all of this walks over. Her Armour, which had once shone brightly, now and dulls from use.
“Look at all around you” Tempest would say “You're in a cage trapped… just admit it, friendship has failed you”
Twilight's head would hang, her mane covering her face. Maybe friendship had failed her? Was it her fault for what her friends had done? Ultimately she stays silent, her mind in great turmoil.
“So, Princess of friendship, what will you do now? Will you try to run? Or will you just give up forever? Once your magic is gone what will you do without the one thing that made you unique? I am oh so excited to see that outcome” She says mockingly
Finally, from her mouth she would speak, her mind slowly recovering.
“Why… would I run? It's useless, inside here I can't use magic, and even when I get out I couldn’t escape you.”
“If only your friends came to save you, but they have abandoned you, just say it, Princess, friendship has failed you” Once again the purple Unicorn had said it, but this time with more force in her voice.
“No tempest, my friends didn’t abandon me, they did not fail...I was the one who failed friendship, but even if the storm king takes my magic, we will not give up! Even without me, my friends will be able to defeat you like they always have with every other baddie!” Twilight's voice rose up in defiance. Her friends even without her are strong! Even when she fails they will win!
As Twilights voice rose up in defiance, suddenly, Tempests horn start to spark and then would suddenly let out a blast of energy at the cage Twilight was in at first it would seemingly absorb the magic but then it would suddenly release all that magic onto twilight even stronger than before. This would cause twilight to yell in pain and then she would collapse, breathing heavily. Tempest, in a sharp and dominate voice would exclaim “Oh Princess, you never learn. You are powerless here! Your friends cannot help you or will they try! Just give in Princess, it’s hopeless”
Twilight would still be on the ground, convulsing in pain from the great shock of the Magic surge from the cage. As she is still convulsing suddenly the door of the airship would open up, the light of the hopeful sun would envelop the room. From that, Twilight would begin to feel hope crawl back to her. She can do this, her friends will be able to save everyone! She can’t let this broken mare break her! The future may be unknown for this princess, but she knows her friends will be able to defeat them! Slowly the door would start to close once again, as more men of the storm King’s army would March onto the ship. As the door slowly closed, her hope would also slowly start to fade.
For a week this would go on, her rising up in defiance and then getting struck down like a bird with a broken wing trying to fly. After 4 days of this torture her will would be on the verge of shattering, but she couldn't give up, she just needs to be strong, her friends will be able to save everypony even without it! The only thing keeping her off the edge of snapping would be the hope of her Friends being able to save everypony even once her magic has been drained they can do it, they can do anything!
After a week of this torture, finally the door would open up one last time, instead of the beautiful and hopefully sunlight filling the room, a deep grey dust cloud would fill the ship; this dust causing Twilight to cough quite loudly from the dust filling her lungs. Slowly the dust cloud would corrode away, revealing the desolate land of which Canterlot once was. The cage she is in would be jerked forward and placed onto a cart. Two ponies would slowly walk over, their heads hung in sorrow, they would look up at Twilight and would stare, and then would slowly walk into the harnesses to pull the cart.
Buildings destroyed, ponies caged and being enslaved to the dirty work of the Storm King. As Twilight’s cage would pass by them, the ponies would stare at her, the last shards of hope fading from their eyes. Twilight would look down just so she doesn’t have to look at the stares anymore. They would slowly arrive to the Canterlot Castle, the castle of the Royal sister. Once they arrive to the castle, the two ponies pulling the cart would be sent off to a new area to work. From Behind the cage Twilight is in, a laughter can be heard. After the Laughter would fade suddenly a body would be thrown in front of Twilights cage. At first the body is unrecognizable, charred and blacken but feline-like in it’s head. She would stare down at the charred and mangled bodies of five ponies. The bodies would be decimated to the point where they were nearly unrecognizable, but one small feature Twilight was able to recognize instantly; their cutie marks. While most weren't easy to see, one of the cutie marks she was able to make out almost as quickly as she saw the bodies; a cloud with a rainbow colored.
“No….” She would mutter, her eyes checking every detail of these once we're bodies but there was no denying it; they were the bodies of the friends she betrayed. Her eyes would stare in disbelief; there is no way that they could be dead, how did it happen? How were they found out? Millions of questions jumble inside of her head which all would be suddenly abrupted by a creature that walks on two legs, finally in view.
“Oooh oops, didn’t mean to place those right there” His voice would come out in a tone that was the total opposite of his demour. As he would say this, he would walk over to the five charred bodies and would grab them using his three clawed hand. He would than with great force hurl them towards and over the balcony. “I do have to hand it to you Ms. ‘Princess of Friendship’. If it wasn’t you walking away and betraying your so called ‘Friends’, Tempest wouldn’t had found them and was able to take them out!”
No… it couldn’t be true, Twilight couldn’t have been the reason of her friends, there had to be another explanation for this! Desperately the purple unicorn would search and search for the answers that she was looking for, but there weren’t want to explain what was in front of her, it all made sense… that had to be her friends.
