The Truth of Twilight
"Good morning Twilight." Said the purple dragon. Slowly walking down the stairs of the hollowed out tree, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
"Ohh, I didn't expect to see you up this early Spike." Replied the lavender unicorn. sitting at her desk off to the side of the library intently studying a few books.
" Hey, I was wondering if we were doing anything today Twilight?"
" Umm, here let me check my schedule, but I don't think so." Twilight pulls out her agenda. "No we don't have anything to do today... Why do you ask?" She says not looking up from her studies.
"Well I was wondering if I could go gather some flowers for Rarity in the field near the everfree forest?" He says, slightly blushing under his purple scales.
"Go ahead. But when are you going to be back?" She asks, slightly looking up from her studies
"I should be back in an hour."
As spike left Twilight thought to herself 'I guess I could go visit my friends, I know. I'll go see if Applejack needs any help on Sweet Apple Acres.' As she left the left Twilight felt the hot air pound on her coat, as she started the long walk to sweet apple acres.
When Twilight arrived at Sweet Apple Acres the orange mare with a long blonde mane and tail notices her and calls out "Hey Sugarcube what can I do for you."
" Hi AppleJack. Spikes left to gather flowers for rarity near the everfree forest so I was wondering if i could help out here while he's gone for a while."
"Well okay. I guess you help me pick the apples from the trees. But considering you cant applebuck, you can just use your magic.
After about an hour of work in the the cool shade of the orchard Twilight finished up transporting the apples to the farm said that she better go check on Rarity and see if she got the flowers.
"Okay sugar cube see ya later." And with that AJ went back to work as Twilight left the orchard. Immediately wishing she was back under the orchard as the heat hit her again. And she started h
eading back to town to see Rarity. In the back of her head Twilight thought I wonder what is going to become of Spike and Rarity considering her crush on the royal stallion prince Fancy Pants.
Upon arriving at Rarity house Twilight did she the white unicorn with a purple mane outside. She thought that she was probably just inside working on her latest fashion creation or just admiring the flowers Spike delivered.
She knocked on the door and saw that it was open a crack. Twilight opened the door and called " Rarity are you home?... It's Twilight."
The white mare popped her head around the corner and answered her with a mild Canterlot accent " Oh, why hello darling. how are you doing today?"
"Oh, I'm fine" I said with a smile on my face to see my friend again. " I just came to see how you liked the flowers Spike gave you."
Rarity now put her entire body around the corner, showing a look of confusion instead of a smile as she said " What flowers are you talking about dear?"
Now Twilight was confused as her brain ran scenarios as to why she gave an unpredicted response. "Umm...Didn't Spike come over about half and hour ago with flowers from the field."
"No. I haven't seen Spike since yesterday."
Twilight was now getting worried. "Maybe he went back to the library... Sorry I've got to go. See you later." And with that she started trotting back to the hollowed out tree she calls home. When she arrived she called out his name. When no one answered she went to his room to see if he was sleeping. He wan't in the library. She thought that maybe he was still in the field. She started a fast trot to the field he said he was going to.
When she arrived and found no Spike she started a panic attack." Oh, Celestia. what if she finds out that I have lost Spike." She said to herself. The panic attack wasn't helping as her brain couldn't think of where he was. After she calmed down a bit she noticed some tracks. Baby dragon tracks by the look of it heading into the forest. She then thought that he went into the forest but then found herself with just more questions. Questions liken why would he go into the forest? Spike is smart enough to know not to go into the everfree forest. He must have had a reason to go into the forest. But what was the reason? The reason soons dawns on her that he must have ventured in the forest looking for more flowers.
After lots of thought she decided to follow the baby dragon tracks into the forest. After about 10 minutes of following the tracks she realizes that she can't find them anymore. She is now lost and because she can't accept the fact that she is lost she cries searching frantically for the trail. When she accepts that fact she is lost she just decides to go forward. After about 10 to 20 minutes of walking she stumbles upon some mysterious ruins. With a tear stained faces she soons finds herself to be more content now that she has something to distract her brain from the fact that she is lost.
After sitting there trying to figure out what these ruins are she decides to draw equations in the dirt. But when she uses her magic to fetch a stick her magic must have caused a reaction with the mysterious ruins. Before Twilight realizes what has happened an eerie glow engulfs her and blinds her with a very bright flash of white light, and drowns out all outside sound if there even was any with a high pitched noise seeming to emanate from the ruins.
When Twilight could finally see see realized that she saw a poorly furnished room with a high ceiling and was not on the ground but rather floating about 10 feet above it. With a look of confusion she sees a fillie not more than a month and a half old.
"Whoa, what just happened. Hey look at that fillie. Strange. It has the same shade shade of purple as me. And the same hair. She looks exactly like me, but with the cutie ark of course. Wait... No it can't be... She can't possibly be... Me?" But upon closer examination she confirms it but does not trust her brain with the facts it has given her.
Twilights confused look on her face now turned into something much more than just confused. After the initial shock of seeing her fillie self she also noticed that the parents she sees here are not the parents she remembers.Instead of the blue and white parents she remembers she sees the mare is purple with a white mane and tail and the colt is black with a purple mane and tail. Twilight decides to follow her fillie self around when she goes outside she sees that she is in a very quite poor part of equestria.
Then to her great confusion they suddenly jump to a scene with a small cake with a candle 1 on it. Twilight goes to blow it out and takes her nearly 4 tries until she succeeds. When she realizes that she was jumping from moment to moment.
As her family was clearly struggling to keep her healthy because of the poor and under-developed part of Equestria that they live in. When on a stormy night her parents tell the fillie to pack up her things and get in there carriage. Twilight obeyed her parents and packed her little suitcase. When they get on the road the fillie asked where they are going and the parents didn't respond with some tears running down the colts face and running freely down the mares cheeks as well.
Through the dense rain the fillie could now make out the bright lights of what can only be Canterlot. "Mommy, Why are we going to Canterlot?" She said with a confused face
"don't worry honey, everything is going to be alright." The mare cooed gently to her daughter. The raindrops were the only thing distracting her from what her mother meant by that.
The Truth of Twilight
As they pulled up to a large blue building with lots of windows. At the age she couldn't possibly hope to even read. But the floating Twilight could read very well and with tears suddenly starting to form trickles down her cheeks as she suddenly knows why she doesn't remember these parents. With a new pain in her heart as she read the sign that said "Canterlot Adoption Center". She now thought to herself "I was Adopted."
While the fillie didn't know what the sign with the big words meant she was still confused about the reason they were there. As her parents finished up talking to to the adoption center staff at the desk some more ponies were waiting for a nod from the mare at the desk.When the mare did give the nod the other ponies started to approach the fillie her mother interrupted them asking if she could have just a minute with her little baby. With a teary face her mother knelt on her forehooves in front of her little fillie.
"Twilight, I know this may be a little hard for you to understand but your father and I just can't take of you in the we are in." Her mother gently said to her with tears running freely down her cheeks. " I want you to know that we love you very much no mater what you think of us right now. These ponies are going to be taking caring of you until they can a better family to take care of you." And with that the mare kissed the fillie on the forehead. the colt bent down on his forehooves and did the same."I love you so much Twilight."
"But I don't want you to leave!"
"I know but it can't be any other way."
And with that they both started to leave. The other ponies advanced once again and had to hold her down while her parents where leaving the building. As soon as they left and she saw the carriage drive away Twilight had new-found power that gave her magic she didn't know she possessed within her. While a blinding light Twilight used that new-found magic and as a purple haze engulfed the ponies holding her down and threw them back against the wall. At that moment she bolted for the door and ran outside trying to find the carriage but to no avail.
Not wanting to accept the fate she keeps searching and searching for the carriage but finally gives up after 15 minutes and galloping and with a stream of tears she finds refuge under a large tree. In between sobs she just manages to say "I...I want my..my mommy!"
Somehow she manages to close her eyes and sleeps with the tortuously happy and blissful memories of her and her parents. sometime during the night the Adoption Center staff find Twilight and bring her back to the center without stirring her.
When Twilight wakes up she finds herself in a room she doesn't remember going to last night. It has colorful pictures on the wall and 2 beds with brightly colored sheets. It has green walls with one large window between the 2 beds. And the other bed appears to have a bulge in it. Suddenly the bulge moved and to Twilights surprise was another fillie about her age. She had a light red coat and a pink mane and tail and was a ground pony. Twilight looks around for a clock and one hanging on the nearly the door. It said that it was only 6:00 Am. She looked outside and saw that it was still a little dark out so she went back to sleep on her nice and fluffy bed. When she woke up again she saw that it was now 9:00 Am and the other fillie was just starting to wake up too. When the other pony saw Twilight she gasped and said "Oh, hi there. I'm sweet-tooth."
" Hi Sweet-Tooth, I'm Twilight Night."
" Cool name. When did you get here?"
"I'm not sure. I don't remember coming here on my own. So it must have been when I was sleeping." Twilight answered with a thoughtful look on her face as she tried to remember.
" Oh, I came her about 2 months ago."
Twilights stomach rumbled. "So, uhh, What do you have for breakfast here."
"We usually just have cereal. Except on Sundays when we have brunch. Miss. Trundy always makes brunch herself and she sure is a good cook."
"Oh, So where do we go to have breakfast around here Sweet-Tooth?"
"We eat down at the mess hall. Come with me and I'll show you where it is."
When they walk out the door she notices that there are in the middle of a medium sized hallway with lots of door which must lead to more rooms. They had to go down 2 flights of stairs to get to the the first floor near the receptionist and go through a door on the opposite side of the the entrance to the building.
Inside she saw a large room with 5 rows of tables off to one side was a counter with lots of cereal and a fridge nearby with lots of milk. On another side there was a kitchen.
"Wow, I've never been offered this much food before. It's just so much. Not that I'm complaining." Twilight said with a look of awe on her face as she stared at the massive amount of food at her disposal.
Near the kitchen sat 1 adult unicorn. Sweet-Tooth pointed out that the Unicorn with the baby blue coat and a lime green mane and tail was miss. Trundy. Miss. Trundy sat there eating a bowl of cereal by herself. Sweet-Tooth let Twilight to the the counter and pored herself a bowl of cereal and milk while i did the same.
"Ohh, Twilight your up" Called miss. Trundy. " I hope you will enjoy your stay as much as possible." She said with a smile on her face.
In about an hour the entire room filled up and other fillies also about her age at 4 years old.
About 2 months passed when a unicorn couple walks into the center and told the receptionist that they would like to adopt a fillie. The receptionist showed her a list of all the ponies along with a picture. As soon as they saw Twilights picture they immediately wanted to see her. Miss. Trundy went up to get Twilight. She knocked on the door and told Twilight that there is a couple who wanted to see her. When Twilight saw the couple she introduced herself to the colt and mare. " Hi I'm Twilight." She said with a smile on her face. The mare had a white coat and a white and purple striped mane and tail. The colt had a dark blue coat and a darker mane and tail.
" Twilight" The mare said " We would very much like to adopt you and have you join our family.
Twilight now with a huge smile on her face " YES, I would love to join you." She said very excitedly in the thought of having these people as her parents.
The couple filled out the papers while Twilight went to go get her stuff. When she entered her room She saw Sweet-Tooth and was suddenly sad. " Um, hey Sweet-Tooth umm well I have to leave. There is a very nice couple downstairs that wants to adopt me. So I came up to get my stuff and..well I came up to say good-bye since I might not see you again."
"Oh, well.. I'm happy for you Twilight... I'm really am happy you."
After she gathered for things she headed back downstairs. She saw the smiling faces of the parents and said her final good-byes to Miss. Trundy. And headed out the door. She saw that they had a very nice carriage and when she went inside she saw another colt. This one was much younger though. "Hi I'm Twilight"
"Hi Twilight, I'm Shining Armour your new big brother." Twilight liked him instantly.
When her new parents got in the car they took me home. It turns out that this family lives in a wealthy part of Canterlot. Twilight Really did like this family, they got her a great foal-sitter named Cadence and because of her outstanding ability with magic they even enrolled her into Princess Celestias school for gifted unicorns. And after an minor setback that included turning her parents into plants, Princess Celestia offered Twilight to be her personal student.
Another Bright flash of white light and Twilight was back in the real world surrounded by the mysterious ruins again. After wondering why she doesn't remember any of this something finally clicks in her head as she realizes that she was far to young to even hope to remember these events as she doesn't remember anything before the age of 6 and she was just 4 when she was in the Adoption Center.
She suddenly hears something. It sounds like many pony walking in her direction but she wasn't sure until it walked out right in front of her. Or more accurately they walked out into the clearing. It was a search party. Spike appeared first, then the rest of the party followed shortly after. "SPIKE, oh my gosh I've been so worried about you." She said before galloping up to give him a fierce hug.
" thank god your safe, Twilight. We didn't know where you were. You were gone for 2 days!" Spike said. Very relieved that his friend was safe.
Twilight on the other hand was very confused. " WHAT! I was gone for two days!" Twilight couldn't believe it. "I thought I was only gone for a short time. 3 hours or so.
She then looked to the rest of the party. In it she saw: Applejack, Big Mac, Pinky Pie, Rainbow Dash, surprisingly Rarity (the reason Rarity came in the forest were it was all muddy found Twilight dumbfounded.) And about 10 other pony.
" Ya we've been looking for you since yesterday when you didn't come home."
" But I was looking for you Spike when i found that you didn't go to Raritys and I didn't find you at the house."
"Oh, ya I forgot to tell you that Applebloom, Sweetiebell, and Scootaloo saw me and asked me if I wanted to play Hind and go seek with them."
"ohh, now that makes sense. when I went to the field looking for you. I saw your tracks heading into the forest. you must of been hiding there. I am still mad at you for not telling me though."
Spike now with blushed cheeks, avoided Twilight's eyes when he said" Oh ya Sorry about that."
Twilight sighed and told him that at least she wasn't hurt.
