Love Works In Mysterious Waysby HurgusburgusChaptersChapter 1Chapter 2Chapter 3Chapter 4Chapter 1Twilight ran as fast as she could, crying as she did so. She wove through the dark hallways, noticed only by a couple of the castle guards, but she was past them before they could ask what was wrong. As she came around another corner, she ran into a pony. “Oof! What’re you doing- Oh! Twilight? What’s wrong?” Luna picked herself up from the ground, walking over to Twilight. “You’re crying! Tell me what’s happened?” “It’s kind of a long story.” “Trust me, I will try to help you however I can.” So Twilight retold her tale of her feeling towards Celestia, how she had presented her thesis, and eventually, Celestia’s rejection. “She denounced me as her student for a year.” She wiped a tear from her eye. “I cannot believe she would simply cast you aside like that! She must be either oblivious or stupid to lose someone like you!” Twilight chuckled weakly at that. “Are you coming on to me, Princess?” “Heavens, no! You need to take a break from all of this. Go to Ponyville; try to forget about all of this business. I do believe I’ll be having a strong word or two with my sister.” She hugged the distressed unicorn. “Thanks, Princess. It felt good to talk to you.” “Likewise, Twilight. Until we meet again, I bid you goodbye.” Next morning Ponyville library Rarity snorted angrily “That’s simply horrible! Most unbecoming of a Princess! How can she do that to our poor Twilight?” Rainbow Dash was trying to get herself free from Applejack’s clutches. “Come on, AJ, let me go! I’ll show her what happens when somepony messes with our friends!” “Whoa there, sugarcube! What we need to do now is calm down and approach this situation rationally!” Pinkie Pie was sitting in a corner, the usually jovial pony wasn’t even saying anything. Spike just sat in his chair, rubbing his face sullenly, trying to think of what he could to cheer Twilight up. Fluttershy was trying to coax her friend out of her bedroom, but to no avail. She trotted down the stairs, and shook her head. “She’s not answering. I don’t think we can do anything other than wait for her to show up. Spike, will you tell us when she leaves her room?” “You can count on me. I owe her that much, at least.” “Well, then. Ah believe we should go. See ya ‘til t’morrow, Spike.” “I guess I’ll be going as well.” “See you next time, Spike.” “I hope Twilight gets better.” “Goodbye.” One by one, the ponies left the library, until Spike was alone. He sighed, picking up a newspaper, Luna’s words still fresh in his memory. “Boy, do I hope you pull through this, Twilight. Your friends are worried sick about you.” Two weeks later Canterlot castle Celestia trotted across the pavement, revelling in the warmth. Flowers were in full bloom, everypony was happy and content with their lives, and everything was perfect. As she walked across the freshly cut lawn, she noticed a very familiar unicorn slowly walking towards the castle. “Twilight! Nice to see-“ “Hi.” Celestia paused uncertainly, inspecting Twilight closer. She didn’t look too good. Her mane was ruffled and unkempt, her eyes were bleary and red, and there were dark lines seemingly etched under her eyes. “So… What brings you here this-“ “Need to return a couple of books to the archives.” “…Well, good luck with th-“ “Thanks.” Without so much as a second glance towards the alicorn princess, Twilight resumed her walk, disappearing inside the castle moments later. Celestia shook her head, trying to forget the whole ordeal. Unbeknownst to her, Luna was observing her, getting angrier by the minute. Later that evening Celestia’s chambers Celestia was sorting through the small pile of papers in front of her. Though she’d taken care of most of the paperwork during the day, some of it still remained unfinished. She was nearly finished when the door to her room burst open and a very angry Luna strode in, heading right for her. Celestia stood up, surprised. “Luna! What’s happening? Is something wrong?” Without a word, the younger alicorn slapped Celestia across her face as hard as she could. “Oh, I’d say there is something wrong indeed, dear sister.” She all but spat the last words, her voice dripping with contempt. All Celestia could do was stare at her dazedly. “The only pony that has ever truly loved you is drowning in her sorrow, and all because of your cowardice, your unwillingness to face the truth!” She huffed furiously. “B-but I was doing it for her own-“ “Good? Oh, don’t even try that. All you only did was rending her heart apart with your stupidity. I cannot dictate how you will act, but I will tell you this: When she told me of how you rejected her, I searched her feelings. Her words are true and from her heart, not a hint of lie to them. She loves you not because of fame, power or recognition, but because she wants to be with you. I may not be Cadence, but I know what I’m speaking of. So you better pull your head from your ass, you pathetic bucking excuse for a Princess!” She jabbed Celestia in the chest as the dazed alabaster alicorn fell back on her haunches, clutching her stinging cheek. “So! What will you do, then?” “…H-how could I have been so blind?” Without a further word, Celestia sprang up, leaping out of her balcony, heading towards Ponyville as fast as her wings would carry her, tears flowing from her eyes. Spike was about to go to sleep, when he heard frantic knocking at the library’s door. Muttering quietly, he made his way over to the door and opened it. “Spike! Where’s Twilight?” “Huh. I wondered when you would show up. Come on in.” Celestia walked in, glancing around, seeking Twilight. “So, where is she?” “Not here. She left an hour ago. Didn’t tell where she went, though.” “Oh, damn it all! I have to find her!” She turned to leave. “Before you leave, let me tell you something. I know next to nothing about love, but, from what Luna told us, Twilight really loves you. When she sleeps, she's crying the whole time, muttering your name. What you did to her was low. You were the last pony I expected to do that.” He shut the door and Celestia wasted no time to visit her friends in a desperate try to find Twilight, but her efforts bore no fruit. She could feel the barely concealed contempt Twilight’s friends felt for her. Celestia flew back to the castle, unable to find Twilight in the end. Wearily, she walked through the hallways, passing Twilight’s old room out of old habit. She had almost reached the corner when a revelation struck her. The room’s doors were open. Tripping over her own legs, she ran inside the room, finally finding Twilight and she sighed in relief. “Twilight, I have something to say.” “Do you, really? Want to see if you can break me again?” “No! Twilight, I’ve been an utter foal this whole time! Please, give me another chance to make this right.” She lay down on the floor, looking at Twilight pleadingly. The mare in question sighed, turning around and facing Celestia. “What you did to me really hurt, Princess. You might’ve as well just torn my heart out, trampled on it and light it on fire for your own personal amusement.” “Twilight, please, give me one chance, that is all I ask. I promise I will never leave you.” “I... I will give you a chance, but you must do something first.” Celestia nearly squealed with joy. “Anything, Twilight! Anything you wish!” “Heh. You have to say that you love me.” “I… I love you, Twilight Sparkle.” “I’m not buying tha-“she’s interrupted as Celestia kisses her, but she does not pull back. Instead, she loops her forelegs around the alicorn’s neck, pulling herself closer, savouring the sweet scent of Celestia’s pristine coat, the minty taste of Celestia’s tongue as it explores her mouth. As Celestia breaks the kiss, she can see joy in Twilight’s eyes. “More than my sun, more than my life, more than anything in this world, I love you, Twilight.” Twilight chuckled quietly. “I guess I can believe that.” “Twilight, I just want to say that I’m sorry. About everything.” Twilight nuzzled against her neck for a moment lovingly. “I forgive you, Princess.” “Twilight, please call me Celestia. You of all ponies should have that right.” She draped her wing across Twilight, delighted at the sensation of warmth at her side. “Alright, I will.” She pulled herself clear of Celestia, making her worry what she had done wrong, but she giggled when Twilight climbed in her bed, beckoning Celestia to follow her, a seductive look on her face. She mustered a look as sultry as she could as Twilight rolled on her back, waiting for her lover. As Celestia rested beside her, Twilight heard a quiet whisper. “Never shall I leave you, light of my life.” She felt Celestia’s wings, so strong yet so gentle, wrapped around her, bringing her to Celestia’s side. She curls up in a ball, as the wings cover them both, sealing the worries of world away from them, and it’s just the two of them, their souls and minds finally at peace. Chapter 2Celestia woke up, stretching her legs out and yawning. Realising she wasn’t alone; she looked around, smiling half-heartedly when she saw Twilight curled up at her side. They’d need to have a talk as soon as she woke up. Just then, the lavender unicorn woke up. Speak of the Discord. Twilight uncurled, yawning heartily. She looked at Celestia, smiling warmly. “Good morning, Celestia.” She sat up, nuzzling the alicorn’s muzzle, a gesture that was returned. “Good morning, Twilight. Did you sleep well?” “I’ve never slept as well before. Well, what shall we do now that we’re together?” Celestia fidgeted uneasily at that. “Look, Twilight, I haven’t been exactly honest with you.” The unicorn’s ears dropped. “What?” “Just hear me out, please. While I do not fully return the affection you hold for me, I’ll admit I am… curious. Interested. You are the only pony that has managed to get my interest. Surely we can at least try to work on our relationship.” “You mean I should study love?” Twilight muttered confusedly, making Celestia chuckle. “Oh, Twilight. Love cannot be studied. It is far too mercurial and fickle for that. It can warm you on the coldest of nights and burn you remorselessly. It can place you on top of the world and then push you, making you plummet to your death. It can bring unbound joy to you and make you feel like there is nothing worth to live for. It is a mighty force, both benign and malignant.” “Then… what will we do?” Celestia hmm’d thoughtfully for a few moments. “Well… I guess we could go on a vacation. To my summer house.” “You have a summer house?” Twilight asked, before cringing embarrassedly. Of course Celestia had a summer house. She was the princess, after all. “Indeed I do. True, I do not use it often, but it is always kept tidy and ready for me should need arise. There, we could get to know each other better.” “But I already know everything about you, pr-Celestia!” “Oh? Do you know what is my favourite food, then?” Twilight smiled sheepishly at that. “You make a good point. But who’ll keep Equestria running while we’re away?” “Luna, of course.” “Of course, silly me. How could I forget? Well, should I pack anything?” “I don’t think so, but if there’s anything that you might need, take it with you. I just need to inform Luna. You should do the same and tell your friends you’ll be gone for a while.” “Will do, Celestia!” Twilight nodded, reaching up and kissing Celestia. The white alicorn froze for a moment, before returning the kiss, holding it for a few moments. Twilight pulled away, smiling widely. “Well, I best get going!” “I’ll pick you up at the library, then, Twilight.” The unicorn nodded, leaping out of the bed, trotting away to the bathroom to freshen herself up, leaving Celestia alone. The alicorn in question smacked her lips twice. She’d liked that kiss, she really had. Well, it would seem we’re off to a good start already. “Are you sure about this, Twilight?” “Yes, Spike. I’m not sure how long we’ll be away, but I’ll make sure to write to you, so there’s no need to get worried.” Applejack frowned, still not assured. “But what if she tries t’pull a fast one on ya, Twi?” “Well, she did say she’s not fully in love with me, but she’s willing to give it a try. That has to count for something.” Rarity shrugged noncommittally. “Well, it’s your choice, Twilight. I just hope it doesn’t bring any more heartache for you. Know that we’ll be here for you, no matter what.” Twilight smiled, securing her saddlebags around her waist. “Don’t worry. I’m sure this’ll go fine.” She hugged her friends and then turned to Spike. “While I’m away, you’re in charge of library. Take care of Owlowiscious and Peewee.” The baby dragon in question puffed out his chest proudly. “You can count on me, Twilight!” Somepony knocked on the door politely and Pinkie Pie trotted-no, bounced over to the door, opening it, gasping in surprise. “Princess!” Celestia smiled, looking at the surprised earth pony. “Good day to you, Pinkie Pie.” Her eyes wandered over to Twilight and she smiled. “Are you ready to leave, Twilight? I have requisitioned a chariot that will take us to the summer house.” “I’ve packed, Celestia. Some ink, quills and parchment and a book or two.” “Then we can go immediately.” She nodded in turn to each of Twilight’s friends, then left, Twilight following her. “Bye, girls! Take care!” “You too, Twilight!” Rainbow responded, waving at her. “Well, now that that’s over with, let us get on with our vacation, Twilight.” Celestia opened the door to the waiting carriage, gesturing for Twilight to get in. She did so and Celestia followed, shutting the door behind her as the pegasi stallions dragging the carriage took off, carrying the two mares to their destination. Celestia had been in many awkward situations, but this topped them all. She couldn’t really think of what to say to Twilight, so the two of them just sat silently. After a while, though, Celestia heard a soft ‘thud’ and saw that Twilight had fallen asleep. She chuckled softly, covering the gently snoring unicorn with a wing, curling up around her. It would be a rather long trip, since her secondary residence was further down south, where it always was warm and balmy. Twilight was woken up by a soft rumble. Confusedly, she looked around, seeing only white. Where- oh. Right. The low noise was Celestia’s breath as the white alicorn snored quietly. Twilight sighed wistfully, snuggling up closer to her, dozing off again. “Twilight…” “Grghmhhmmh.” “Twilight. Wake up.” “Ayeeeeeehhaa…” “I have a book for you, Twilight.” “Gesundheit!” The bookish mare shot up and Celestia chuckled. “Oh, Twilight. Did you sleep well?” She stepped out of the carriage, flexing her wings for a few moments, motioning for Twilight to follow. The unicorn grumbled for a moment, grabbing her saddlebags and jumping out. She yawned as her tired eyes glanced around. Her jaw remained hanging open as she caught sight of the resplendent building the carriage was parked next to. Carved from white marble, Celestia’s summer house was a grand, spotless villa. Celestia turned to Twilight, chuckling at the unicorn’s stunned expression. “It’s quite breathtaking, I know. I would’ve settled with something less attention-demanding, but the architects wouldn’t hear of it. They claimed that I needed a summer house befitting a princess.” She walked over to the gate, opening it, beckoning to the still-speechless Twilight. “Shall we?” The sounds of eight hooves clattering against marble were the only thing to be heard aside from Twilight’s excited ramblings. The two mares walked down the echoing hallway. Well, Celestia walked. Twilight pranced about giddily. “I take it you like this residence, Twilight.” “It’s simply marvellous, princess!” “There is no need for formality, Twilight. I’m not going to take offense simply because you treat me as an equal. Please, call me Celestia.” “It’s not going to be easy to get rid of that habit, is it?” “I would think not. You all seem to treat me like an unstable maniac who’d lash out for the slightest mistakes.” Celestia smiled a bit sadly and Twilight blushed, unable to think of anything to say. “Oh, I know that they treat me like a fragile glass statue. But I just wish to be understood. I’m a pony just like you, Twilight. I have my own needs and weaknesses.” She looked away, hiding the tears gathering in her eyes. Then, she felt Twilight’s warm form rub against her shoulder. It felt… reassuring. “Oh, Twilight… You adorable little bundle of compassion and love, you.” Celestia muttered, thankful Twilight was here with her and she wrapped a wing around the lavender mare. “Don’t be sad, Celestia. Or I’ll get sad, too.” Celestia smiled impishly. “Oh, no, a sad Twilight Sparkle. Anything but that. Well, then. Let me show you around my house, Twilight.” She led the unicorn deeper inside. “This is the living room.” Celestia waved her hoof around, gesturing vaguely. Twilight let her eyes wander over the spacious room. A big, elaborate fireplace was in the middle of the room, with a stack of neatly-sawn firewood nearby. Several sofas and tables occupied the rest of free space. A couple of bookshelves were arrayed against a wall, stacked with books. The big windows let in a lot of light. But to Twilight, the bookshelves were what mattered. Tuning Celestia out, she trotted up to them, getting ready to soak up their knowledge. “Twilight? We have other things to do than sit perusing over books.” “Oh, right. Sorry, pr-Celestia.” Twilight gave a sheepish grin. “Don’t worry, Twilight. I know how much you enjoy books. Come on, then. Would you like something to drink or eat, perhaps?” “Sure! I feel a bit hungry, to be honest. How long was the trip, actually?” “Roughly five hours.” They trotted down the corridor, with Twilight casting a last determined glance at the bookshelves. Tonight… You. “Oh no, you don’t, Twilight. You just sit down and wait. You are my guest here, after all and that’s that.” Celestia announced with a sort of finality to her voice, turning back to the cooker in front of her, returning her attention to the pancakes sizzling on the pan. “I didn’t even know you could cook, Celestia.” “All the more reason for us to have some time alone, right, Twilight?” Celestia chuckled softly, piling the hot pancakes on a plate and pulling a couple of jars of jam from a cupboard, setting the whole ensemble in front of the expectant unicorn. “Dig in, my dear.” “B-but I need a plate. And a fork.” “What for?” Celestia announced humorously, snatching one of the steaming foodstuffs, smearing some blackcurrant jam on it, rolling it up and taking a bite. Twilight stared at her in surprise. The regal, sophisticated princess was stuffing her face with pancakes, a blissful expression on her face. “Aaeowr. Nmmh. Ehrn, that’sh tashty.” Celestia muttered, her voice somewhat muffled by the pancake in her mouth. Twilight couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight. Celestia scarfed down another two pancakes before looking at Twilight. “Go on, they’re very tasty.” Twilight noticed that there was some jam stuck to Celestia’s muzzle and she snickered despite herself. “What? Is there something stuck on my face?” “N-no, Celestia.” Twilight giggled, before grabbing a pancake. Obviously, Celestia didn’t buy that. She squinted, seeing the small speck of jam on her nose. Twilight watched, pancakes temporarily forgotten, as Celestia’s long, flexible tongue slithered out of her mouth, trying to snag the stubborn speck. “Lhaaaahhl…” Celestia muttered, frustrated, tongue lolling from her mouth. Twilight blushed, trying to look away, but her eyes were fixated on the glistening muscle as it flicked back and forth, sliding across Celestia’s muzzle. Celestia let loose a small burp, chuckling. “I could make some more if you’d like, Twilight.” “No, I’m full. But those pancakes were very tasty.” “I’m glad you think so, Twilight. It’s nice to know I’m still a decent cook. Well, if your hunger has been sated, let us continue with our tour. There is still much to see.” Chapter 3Twilight sat in front of the crackling fireplace, a book in front of her. True to her earlier wow, she’d returned to have some reading time. Celestia had joined her, too, and they’d spent hours sifting through the volumes in the bookshelves. “If I read a moment longer, my eyes are going to fall out, Twilight. It’s time to go to bed.” Celestia stood up, yawning. “But-“ “You can read more tomorrow, though I have something else planned for us to do. I expect we’ll spend most of the day outdoors.” Celestia didn’t let up, putting some steel in her voice. The purple unicorn grumbled disappointedly, placing a bookmark in the tome she was reading, and then followed Celestia through the dimly-lit hallways. “Welcome to my bedchambers, Twilight. Here we shall slumber until morning comes.” Celestia announced dramatically, earning a chuckle from the smaller mare at her side. As Celestia removed her regalia, setting it down on the desk, climbing in the bed, Twilight cringed slightly. It was surreally strange how naked Celestia looked without her gold and jewels. The alicorn turned around, looking at Twilight expectantly. “Well, then? Get in, Twilight. I don’t bite. Much.” She grinned. “B-but it’s your bed, pr-Celestia.” “So? There is enough room for both of us.” “Don’t worry, Celestia. I’ll just sleep on the floor.” Before the amused princess could say anything, Twilight had curled up on the carpet. A moment later, the stubborn unicorn heard the bed creak and she looked disbelievingly as Celestia joined her on the floor. “What’re you doing, Celestia?” “If you’re going to sleep on the floor, then so will I.” “No! It’s your bed, not mine! I’m perfectly fine where I am.” “Twilight, I am not letting you sleep on the floor.” All joviality disappeared from Celestia’s voice and a frown appeared on her face. “We shall share my bed tonight.” “No! I’m staying where I am!” Twilight shouted back, anger distorting her features. “Fine! Then so am I!” Celestia responded, snorting hatefully. “Fine!” The two mares glared at each other balefully, before breaking out in quiet giggles. After a while, Celestia smiled happily, moving over to nuzzle Twilight. “Oh, Twilight. It has been too long since I’ve had a good reason to laugh. But seriously, you can sleep with me. I won’t take offense. After all, is this not the whole point of this vacation?” Before Twilight could protest, she had picked the recalcitrant unicorn up, depositing her in the bed, joining her a moment later, smothering her in feathers as she brought Twilight close to her. “Do not make me pull rank on you, Twilight. You may be the Element of Magic, but I still am the co-ruler of Equestria.” The purple unicorn sighed defeatedly. “I suppose there’s no changing your mind?” “No. We’ll sleep together and that’s that.” Celestia curled up around Twilight, yawning, soon drifting off to sleep. Of course, Twilight tried to liberate herself, but gave up after a couple of moments, on the account that Celestia was very warm and soft. She liked warm and soft. After a moment, she too, fell asleep, snuggled up to the sleeping alicorn. Celestia pondered silently, looking at the purple unicorn at her side. Twilight still slumbered, muttering quietly on the occasion. The sight brought a smile to the alicorn’s face, yet her heart was torn with indecision. Dare I fully open myself up to her? I would not want to burden her with my troubles. I should, however, at least try. I owe her that much, don’t I? Climbing slowly out of the bed, she shook out her mane, heading for the shower. It’d do her some good to freshen herself up. Woken by the sound of singing, Twilight sat up, stretching her legs, letting out a heart-wrenchingly adorable squeal of a yawn, the sort that would have even the most jaded and bitter pony bellow for insulin. As she shook off her tiredness, she became more aware of her surroundings. She was alone in Celestia’s bed. There was singing coming from shower. Intrigued, she quietly walked over to the half-open door and was immediately treated to a sight she never forgot. Celestia was there, water flowing all over her body as the blissfully oblivious alicorn washed her royal self. Oh Faust why are you watching Twilight stop stop stop stop watching sweet mother of mercy I can’t stop watching no no no no no Twilight you turn around and leave her alone this instant Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Twilight screamed internally, frozen in place, drinking in the sight of the alabaster seductress, her eyes wandering all over the alicorn’s toned, shapely, curvaceous, wet, glistening- NO NO NO NO NO NO BAD THOUGHTS GO AWAY Twilight shook her head fiercely, trying to back away. She did a terrible job of it. Tripping over her own hooves, she landed face-first inside the bathroom and Celestia whirled around, startled. When all she saw was a dazed Twilight, she blushed. To realize that the purple unicorn had been spying upon her was strangely flattering, if a tad odd. “Well… good morning, Twilight. I trust you slept well.” Celestia broke the uncomfortable silence. “That’s it?” “I’m sorry?” “You… you’re not going to punish me for spying on you?” “Why would I? I admit you’ve caught me off-guard, but I’m not angry at you, Twilight.” “Really?” “You’re the first pony in many years to look directly at me without fearing to be locked in a dungeon. It’s like they expect their eyes to melt should they look at me too long.” Twilight looked at her, puzzled, and she continued. “Well, now that you have taken a look at me, what do you think?” Twilight blushed at Celestia’s forward manner, and muttered quietly. “I’m sorry, I didn’t quite catch that.” “…you’re sexy.” “Still not hearing anything.” Celestia announced, smiling impishly. “I… You’re sexy.” Twilight was blushing fiercely, refusing to meet Celestia’s eyes. “You’ve been true with me, so I’ll be true with you as well. You’re not that hard on eyes yourself, Twilight.” Twilight let out a breath she didn’t even know she’d been holding. “Well, that’s, uhh… nice to know, Celestia. I’ll just wait until you’re finished, then.” She backed away sheepishly. “You’re welcome to join me, Twilight. I wouldn’t mind. At all.” She winked at the speechless unicorn slyly. “Um… thanks, but no thanks, Celestia. It’s okay. Seriously.” Quickly, she backed out of the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her. Celestia chuckled. Twilight was always so easy to goad. Aaand now I feel bad. Why do I antagonize Twilight when that’s not what we’re here to do? Answerless and annoyed with herself, Celestia resumed her shower. Twilight looked at Celestia a tad nervously as she approached. “I’m sorry, Twilight. It was immature of me, what I said back in the bathroom. I should make it up to you. Name your request and I shall fulfil it.” At that, Twilight relaxed, giving a thoughtful ‘hmmm’. “Kiss me.” That threw Celestia for a loop. “Well played, Twilight.” The alicorn chuckled, leaning closer to the purple unicorn and giving her a peck on the cheek. “You too, Celestia.” “Well, now that that’s over, shall we proceed? I have something special planned for us today.” “Really? What is it?” “A secret, my dear.” Celestia replied mystically, motioning for the unicorn to follow her. “A picnic?” “Why, yes. The weather is especially nice today, Twilight. Why not spend the day somewhere nice, quiet and secluded?” Celestia reached out with her magic, grabbing the hefty basket. Twilight found no words to counter the alicorn’s argument and followed her outside, wincing a bit in the bright sunlight. Celestia unfolded the large sheet, laying it down on the ground. Then, she opened the basket, levitating a wide assortment of food and snacks out, setting them down on the ground and they set to systematically decimating the foodstuffs. “So, how about we talk, Twilight? Aside from your friendship reports, I know little of what goes on in your life. I don’t mean to pry, of course.” “Well, it’s not really that interesting. My library’s experiencing a boom of sorts in popularity. Rarity’s always busy with orders from Canterlot. I’ve recently had saved up some surplus bits and gave them to the Sweet Apple Acres.” “Really, now?” “Yeah. They always have a debt or another to pay off, but the Apples are stubborn and proud and aren’t willing to accept charity. So I had to do it anonymously. I left the bag with bits on their doorstep, knocked on the door, and teleported away before they knew I was there.” “They are lucky to have a friend like you.” “They have been good friends to me as well, Celestia. And to think I once wanted to spend the rest of my life studying.” Celestia chuckled, sipping from her glass of juice. “You have come a long way since those days, Twilight.” “I guess. I still have much to l-“ Twilight’s face fell as she remembered Celestia’s stern words. “…Twilight Sparkle, effective immediately, for one year’s time, you are no longer my student...” “I forgot. I’m no longer your student, am I?” Celestia’s joviality faded away, too, and she moved, wrapping Twilight up in a wing hug. “It was inconsiderate of me, Twilight. Can you forgive me? I did not pause to take a grander view of the situation, acting purely on my own feelings.” “I… I wanted to shout. Scream, break things, just to… spite you, I guess. I was angry. Furious. I was livid with hate. Hate directed at… you, Celestia. Looking back, I can’t believe I was acting like that.” “I told you, Twilight. Love is not to be trifled with. It will make you do and think things you’d never do normally. It can twist the minds and feelings of even the fairest of beings.” “Yeah, true… Please, Celestia… Don’t be angry with me. I want to be with you.” Twilight was on the verge of tears, her voice trembling. “Shhhh… Do not worry, Twilight.” Celestia whispered, hugging the distraught unicorn. How did this day go this bad? She’d intended for the two of them to spend this time happily. “Come, now, Twilight. I know what’ll cheer you up.” “What do you have in mind?” “Simply sit still.” Celestia pulled away for a moment, and then rubbed her horn against Twilight’s. The purple unicorn gasped as knowledge flowed in her mind. She could feel Celestia’s presence inside her mind – vast, powerful, and wise beyond years. After a moment, the alicorn pulled back, smiling. “You now know the spell.” “Yeah.” “You may perform it now.” “B-but what if I do something wrong?” Celestia lifted Twilight’s head up with her hoof, smiling warmly at the nervous unicorn. “I know you can do it, Twilight. Trust me.” That seemed to work and Twilight took a few deep breaths to calm herself. Her horn lit suddenly with her trademark purple glow as she screwed her face up in concentration. A brilliant white shimmer emerged from her back, slowly, painstakingly taking the shape of wings. Twilight exhaled, exhausted by the magical drain, nearly collapsing. “Twilight? Are you fine?” “Uhhh… I think so. Did it work?” “See for yourself.” Celestia responded, smiling fondly. Twilight craned her head, gasping in surprise as she saw her magic-wrought wings. “I did it! I actually did it!” “Indeed. Now…” Celestia stood up, opening her wings, an inviting smile on her face. “Will you fly with me, Twilight?” How could she say no? Chapter 4Twilight was in heaven, so to speak. Spending time with Celestia always was interesting. The alicorn always had something new planned for every day they spent at the summer house. The days passed quickly and soon, it was almost two weeks since they had embarked on their vacation. Twilight’s fondness for Celestia had grown exponentially and vice versa. Still, Celestia was torn by indecision as to whether she should tell Twilight the truth As fate would have it, the decision was made for her, by rain, of all things. It was a beautiful, sunny evening as Twilight soared through the sky at Celestia’s side. The alicorn had patiently taught her the finer points of flying and Twilight had been a diligent student. So, they had been both enjoying themselves when the rainstorm struck without warning. Celestia gasped in surprise, while Twilight almost fell out of the sky in surprise, soaked by sleeting torrents of rain. “By Faust! Where’d those clouds come from?” She howled exasperatedly, trying to stay aloft. Celestia had to agree with her. This was certainly odd for this time of the year. “Quickly, Twilight! Fly as fast as you can! Follow me!” Without a moment’s pause, Celestia banked around, flapping her wings with renewed vigour, Twilight following suit. Quite a few blood-chilling minutes later, they made a rather undignified landing in the courtyard, their hooves gouging up shallow trenches in the soil as they nearly fell over in their haste. Regaining their bearings, they galloped over to the door, stumbling inside and slamming the door, leaving the rather fierce weather outside. Both could only pant in shock. After a while, though, Celestia let out a titter of amusement. “I should have seen that coming. How could I forget it? The weatherponies certainly are diligent at their work.” “Huh?” There was a large puddle of rainwater slowly spreading across the tiles. “Nothing. We, uh, should get ourselves a towel.” “Yeah…” Twilight shook her head for a moment, spraying water. As she stood up, her eyes danced across Celestia’s soggy form. Her usually wavy mane was waterlogged, too, clinging to her body like so much wet towels. And boy, did she look alluring. Something… changed, for lack of a better word. Slowly, she walked over to the silently chuckling alicorn and raised a hoof to touch Celestia’s cheek. Her mirth faded away and she gazed upon the purple unicorn in front of her. By Faust, how blind had she been these few last years? Twilight had certainly grown into a beautiful young mare. Without much thought, she lowered her head, meeting Twilight halfway. As their lips met, Twilight let out a small moan, her whole body trembling slightly. She stood up on her hindlegs, balancing herself by wrapping her forelegs around Celestia’s neck, pulling herself closer to the alicorn. It was all she could to not dissolve into a puddle. Metaphorically speaking. Celestia’s long tongue curved and rolled through her mouth – slow, careful, yet insistent and she moaned into the kiss. Celestia unfurled her wings, wrapping them around the smaller pony. After some time, Twilight halted their long-winded makeout session, looking fearfully at Celestia. A strand of drool bridged the gap between their lips. “I-I’m sorr-“ She was interrupted as Celestia lunged forward, knocking her on her back, her breath urgent and heavy. “There is nothing you need to be sorry for, Twilight.” Celestia’s muzzle brushed across the unicorn’s chest, causing her to gasp. Her lips ran rampant across the sensitive skin, placing the occasional bite, never failing to elicit a gasp from Twilight. “O-o-ohh, Celestia…” She moaned, submitting herself to the alicorn’s caress. That was all the encouragement Celestia needed and she started to slowly make her way downwards… Oh, she was so close. So close. If Twilight didn’t say anything soon, there would be no stopping her. Thousands of years’ worth of pent-up sexual frustration were boiling over and she needed to find a release. “C-Celestia!” “Shhh, Twilight. Let me take care of you.” She muttered huskily in response. Those words did little to reassure Twilight. Suddenly, she was scared – scared of the white alicorn looming over her, lustful, trembling, intent on conquering her. “Princess!” She called out again, more insistently this time. “Please, call me Celestia…” Her muzzle brushed across Twilight’s marehood and the smaller mare yelped, scrabbling away. Celestia crawled after her and pure fear flooded Twilight. “Stop!” She cried out, on the verge of tears. “T-Twilight… please, do not deny this to me.” “I can’t do this! I’m not r-ready for this!” With some difficulty, Celestia reined herself in. “I… I understand. I was too forward.” Several awkward moments later, she continued. “Good night, Twilight. I’ll be getting some sleep. Flying in a rainstorm is exhausting.” Before the purple unicorn could say anything, she left at a brisk trot. Celestia closed the door behind her, immediately falling against the wall, her body awash with a storm of emotions – lust, desire and arousal. A low, shuddering moan left her as she brushed against the wall. Slightly clumsily, she made her way over to her bed, plopping down in it, biting back a gasp. There was only one way to ease the itch, so to speak. Slowly, she started to rub at her marehood, feeling the rush of warmth to her loins and a moan escaped her. She had definitely been ignoring her own needs, hadn’t she? Her rhythm increased, her hoof already soaked with love juices. As she kept going, her imagination got out of control and soon, it wasn’t her hoof that was pleasuring her. It was, instead, Twilight, her small muzzle brushing insistently against her slit, her small, flexible tongue thrashing about her proverbial flower. “Aaagh! T-Twilight! Don’t s-stop!” She cried out, her hips bucking as she got closer and closer to her climax… As she wallowed in a puddle of her own making, she came to reflect on her current situation. She was a princess. Such base desires and lusts should be below her. She had to ignore her own needs and wants for the betterment of Equestria and her ponies. But she now knew one thing with certainty. She loved Twilight. She loved every inch of her bookish, adorable self. Yet that revelation alone presented more complications… Next morning was quiet between the two mares. They ate their breakfast in silence, avoiding looking at each other. As Twilight hastily finished her breakfast and prepared to head off to do some reading, Celestia called out to her. “Twilight? Can we talk, please? About yesterday?” “I… I guess.” Ill at ease, Twilight turned to face Celestia. “First off, I want to say that I’m terribly sorry about my behaviour. I shouldn’t have tried to force myself upon you. It was, well… idiotic of me. And, I suppose we’ve spent enough time here. We should head back next morning.” Twilight sighed defeatedly. “So… you still don’t love me?” As much as it pained Celestia to do so, she nodded. “Yes. But do not think I don’t care about you. These days I have spent with you have been rather educating for me. You shall always be a welcome guest at my castle. Now, what say you we spend this final day indoors? I have some interesting books I think you’d enjoy reading.” Twilight smiled sadly, encouraged by Celestia’s words. “That sounds nice, Celestia.” Next evening Luna cantered up to Celestia as the chariot pulled away. “Tia! It’s good to have you back! Interesting as it was to have complete control over Equestria, I am eager to know how you fared with Twilight Sparkle! Tell me everything! Did you confess to her? Did-“ She fell silent as Celestia went for the tried-and-tested method of sticking a hoof in Luna’s mouth. “No. I do not hold any affection towards her. Luckily, she seems to understand and that’s all I could ask for.” Luna took a step backwards, a disappointed groan leaving her. “Oh, for Mother’s sake! Tia, she loves you! Do you love her?” When Celestia said nothing, she became angry. “Answer me!” “YES! I love Twilight! I would give anything to be with her!” “Then why aren’t you making sweet, passionate love to her?” “Because I’m a princess. The royal court would eat her alive with words alone! Remember the cellist, Octavia? She was an expert musician, but an earth pony. It took her years to get to where she was, but the nobles ensured that she did not last. Now, she is living in Ponyville, barely making a living. I would not want to place such misery upon Twilight. And if I know him, Discord already has been eavesdropping upon us, even though he is imprisoned in stone. I would be constantly worrying for Twilight’s well-being. She deserves better than that.” Luna slapped her. “You bucking foal of a princess, Tia! I will take care of Discord! And, if any of the nobles have a problem with Twilight being your special somepony, they can take it up with me! Now, go and talk to Twilight!” “But-“ “SO HELP ME, TIA, I WILL DRAG YOUR LAZY FLANK TO PONYVILLE MYSELF IF I HAVE TO.” “What do you mean, ‘taking care of Discord’? Only a-“ She gasped as she understood what her sister had in mind. “No. I cannot allow you to do that.” “The way I see it, sister, it’s the only way. Discord’s able to break out again. He has done so earlier and he will do so again, given the slightest chance. I know what to do. Tell me – do you not yearn for Twilight? Do you want to love her and be with her?” “I… I do. I really do.” She whispered defeatedly. “Then off you go, Tia.” Luna grinned, hugging the distraught princess before taking off in search of something that had been held in utmost secrecy for many millennia. Twilight sighed as she dropped her saddlebags on the table, brightening some as Spike arrived from upstairs. “Twilight!” He leapt, hugging her. “Hey, Spike. How’d you get along without me?” “Well, it was a bit lonely, but others dropped by occasionally. How about you?” “Well, all things considered. It didn’t work out for me with Celestia, but at least we’re still friends which is all I could ask for.” She yawned before continuing. “I should get some sleep. You sure you’ve got everything under control?” “Affirmative!” “I can always count on you, eh, Spike?” Luna wandered through the gardens, seeking out the one statue. It did not take long. The strap around her shoulders seemed unnaturally tight. Why hello there, Princess Luna. It has been some time since we last talked. “Quiet, Discord. I assume you know why I am here.” Why, yes. It is quite a great thing, love. Just imagine! Princess Celestia, the grand, immortal diarch of Equestria, in love with her student! My, it would make for a distraction most wonderful! I would be able to break free and wreak delightful chaos! She heard a peal of maniacal laughter in the back of her mind. “You’ll do nothing of the sort, Discord.” Luna growled, fiddling with her belt, unsheathing the dagger she had sought out. No… Impossible! It was destroyed millennia ago! “Well, you’re wrong about that.” Luna, no! Please, anything but this! I’ll do anything you want! I-I’ll leave Celestia alone! “And how long will you keep that promise, hmm? I cannot trust you. Nopony can.” Wait! J-just hear me out! “…go on.” I know you still resent Celestia for what she did. You agree that it was the right thing, but still… you cannot help but question her motives. Set me free. I can help you exact revenge most satisfying on her. “You really think I am that stupid? While I do question my sister’s actions, I also know she had exhausted all other options. You just earned your death.” No! Please! Luna! The princess of night shook her head, grasping the dagger with her magic and swung back. Discord’s screaming echoed in her head, desperate and pleading. The small weapon slid smoothly in the stone surface and buried itself in the statue up to its hilt. Slowly, the statue turned to dust, along with its pedestal. Luna staggered, almost falling over. The dagger was ridiculously offensive even to think of. But it was the only thing capable of permanently killing a god. She should probably inform Celestia of this, too. The alicorn in question was currently slowing down, heading for the library. Only a single window was lit. If what Twilight told her was true, Spike had developed a taste for books recently and often stayed up late to read. Quietly, she landed on the small balcony and her horn flashed briefly as she opened the window, crawling quietly inside. It is done, sister. Discord is dead. Thank you, Luna. I cannot express my gratitude enough. Her regalia clattered as she quietly placed it on a nearby table. “Huh? Who’s there?” Celestia froze as the purple unicorn shuffled around in her bed. “It’s me, Twilight. Celestia.” Before the librarian could say anything, she had clambered in her bed, kissing the smaller mare fervently. After a while, she pulled back, reminded that breathing’s a thing. “B-but I thought that you didn’t-“ “It was a necessary lie. Please, let me explain.” Suspicious, Twilight nodded and Celestia retold everything she’d told Luna and what Luna had taken upon herself to carry out. “I hope you won’t mind if I take the fact that Discord is dead with a grain of salt, Celestia.” “Luna used the Witherer, a weapon that is the sole legacy of a darker age. It can kill anything its blade touches. And Discord is not irreplaceable. A new avatar of the chaotic powers will emerge in the future, one that we may reason with. So, there is nothing to worry about. Luna has seen to it.” “So… We can be together?” Celestia smiled, nuzzling Twilight. “Yes. That we can. I love you, Twilight.” “R-really?” “I do.” Celestia leaned closer to Twilight, kissing her again and she yelped in surprise as Twilight tackled her, pulling her down. “Oh, Celestia! You have no idea how much I’ve waited for this!” Twilight muttered, letting Celestia roll her on her back. “Are you sure, Twilight? I would not want to force you into anything you don’t want to do.” “It’s okay. Just be gentle, would you?” Twilight let loose an explosive sigh, crawling closer to Celestia, curling up against the white alicorn. “Wow.” “I really needed that, Twilight.” Her messy, multi-coloured mane was sprawled all across the bed. “That said, where do we go from now, Twilight? What will the public think?” “Pah. Who cares what they think? All that matters is that I am with you.” “Twilight? I would not usually ask this of you but… Hearts and Hooves day is coming soon and… would you be my special somepony?” “Did you even have to ask? Of course I will!” Celestia smiled, but began to mentally scold herself for her own weakness. Be my special somepony? Really, Celestia? Then again, asking if she would consider marrying you would be a tad scary. But I should cross that bridge when we get to it. She chuckled inwardly before wrapping Twilight in a hug, drifting off to sleep.
Chapter 1Twilight ran as fast as she could, crying as she did so.
There is still much to see.”
Chapter 3Twilight sat in front of the crackling fireplace, a book in front of her.
