Twitch and Viper both closed their eyes, about to fa asleep. soon they hear the faint sound of singing that caused them to open their eyes.

"I see trees of green," sang the sad voice. "red roses, too."

Twitch and Viper got up and walked through the room, trying to find the source f the singing.

"I see them blue..."

Twitch and Viper arrived at the other end of the room and saw Mint laying down, eyes all watery.

"...before me and you." he sang sadly.

Twitch noticed that Viper looked a little upset. Could she actually feel sorry for the foal?

"And I think to myself..." Mint cried, his voice cracking as he began to sob. "What a w..." He stopped singing and just cried.

Viper slowly trotted over to him and knelt down.

"What a wonderful world." she sang, placing a hoof on Mint's head.

Mint looked up at her, tears falling from his eyes. He then quickly hugged the mare, latching on. Viper rubbed a hoof through his mane.

"I see skies of blue and clouds of white." she continued singing gently.

Twitch began to slowly approach them.

"The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night."

Mint's sobs began to fade.

"And I think to myself... What a wonderful world."

Mint closed his eyes as he started to sleep. Twitch knelt down next to Viper as the foal fell asleep.

"Why the change of heart?" he asked.

Viper looked at him, not with an angry expression but, rather, a sad one.

"Because... the same thing happened to me."

Twitch let out a small gasp. "What?"

Viper let out a sigh.

"When I was little, my family started to get killed one by one. Soon, it was just me and my little brother." She paused as she felt tears fill her eyes. She began to sob a bit. "He died in my arms." Twitch let out another gasp. "That's when I decided to go it alone. I couldn't bare to lose anypony else."

"So you reject friendship because you're afraid you'll lose your friend?"

Viper nodded. "Yes. And when I lost my family, I was devastated. I can't imagine what Mint's going through. No pony his age should have to go through that. Ever."

Twitch hesitated before hugging her. Now it was her turn for a small gasp.

"Viper, I'm sorry. But you don't have to be alone anymore." He pulled away and looked Viper in the eyes. "I'll never leave you. I promise. I'll always be here for you."

Viper hesitated, sobbing a bit, before leaning into Twitch, resting her head on is shoulder.

"I'm sorry, too." she cried. "I'm sorry for treating you like shit this whole time. You're the greatest friend I could ever hope for."

"Maybe even... more?" asked Twitch.

Viper pulled away and looked at him. "What?"

"Nothing." he said with a sigh. "It's just... There's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while now. Something I know you probably would've shot me for."

"What is it?" asked Viper.

Twitch took a deep breath. "I think you're... really pretty."

Viper hesitated. "Y... You're attracted to me?"

Twitch nodded. "Yeah. Sorry. I just can't help it. I think you're one of the hottest--"

Viper leaned in and kissed him on the lips. This caught Twitch by surprise
