Amusement Park Of Abandonment
Author's Note
So here it is; a story several years in the making. I'm sorry for it being late on Halloween, but I thank you all, for those who were waiting, that had the patience for this. Thanks again to Scholarly-Cimmerian for proofreading this for me.
We have gotten it done, and I hope y'all enjoy my belated Halloween treat.
Happy Halloween everyone!
Amusement Park Of Abandonment
"Pinkie? Pinkie? Where are you?"
Sunset Shimmer ran through hallways at Canterlot High, trying to look for her bubbly friend. She called out around corners and corridors on her endless search. "Has anyone seen her? Teddy, have you seen her?"
"Can't say I have, sorry."
Sunset groaned and kept looking. Where could she have gone? She didn't receive texts saying she was sick, nor was there any phone calls or anything that would warrant concern. She saw her once in class, but then out of the blue it was like she suddenly vanished. Pinkie Pie certainly bounced around from time to time, but this wasn't that simple. But when she went around another corner, she heard sniffling noises. She recognized the voice anywhere, and when she turned her head she found the source. That whimpering shaking mess that was sitting on the floor in the poorly lit corridor of the school, the same one where she had confronted Princess Twilight years ago, was Pinkie Pie. Lips were quivering and her eyes were watering.
"Pinkie! Where have you been, we were worried about you! None of us saw you after Biology!"
Pinkie didn't look up. She kept whimpering, trying not to burst out crying.
"Pinkie, hey, what's wrong?" Sunset asked, putting her hands on her shoulders. "Did something bad happen?"
Just then, the rest of their friends came around the corner.
"Oh there you are! Pinkie where were you?" Rainbow asked.
It quickly dawned on them when they recognized the depressing state their friend was in.
"Darling, are you alright?"
"Did someone say something mean to you?"
The party animal sniffled. "R-Remember all that money I was saving up so I could buy you all tickets for Canterlot's Wonderland?"
Everyone nodded as Pinkie slowly handed her phone to Sunset Shimmer, showing exactly what she was looking at.
"Canterlot's Wonderland had a long run from its entry in 1973, up until its unfortunate close at the end of 2015. Reasons for park's closure have begun when teenagers started vandalizing the park, even leaving inappropriate images in graffiti on walls and rides. But as more amusement establishments began to form and the tickets stopped selling, Canterlot's Wonderland unfortunately had to close its doors..." Sunset read. "Ohhh... Pinkie, I'm so sorry."
Pinkie sniffled and her hair deflated from its poofy stature, now all lifeless and limp. Her lips quivered and she sniffled some more.
"Can I have a hug?"
"Oh, of course," Sunset said, pulling her friend in for an embracing hug. And in seconds, Pinkie went from softly whimpering into a wailing mess behind her head. Tears were flying off her face, and it only sounded worse. Sunset frowned as she held her friend close, rubbing her back all the while.
"It's okay... it's okay..." Sunset whispered.
"I just can't believe it shut down. All these years, I thought one day I could go back and try the rides that the bigger kids got to, but now I can't! It was my favorite paaaarrrrkkk!" Pinkie sobbed.
"So, there's no tragic accident that made it shut down, it just... was forgotten?" Rainbow asked.
"That's even woooooorse!" Pinkie cried.
"Debatable..." Rainbow muttered quietly.
The Rainbooms felt their heartstrings tugged. They couldn't bear to see Pinkie, or any of their friends this heartbroken. Sure, none of them were upset to the same lengths, but they had to do something to cheer her up.
"Darling I'm so sorry... is there anything we can do to help you?"
"I... I don't knowwwww!" Pinkie blubbered.
"Hey, I got an idea! What if we all go and visit the park? I know it's abandoned and all, but what if we snuck in so you can take a look. For old time's sake," Sunset suggested.
"Sunset, you do realize that's basically breaking and entering?" Twilight raised a brow.
Sunset sighed. "Yes, I know. But come on, Twilight. Urban explorers check out places like these all the time. We'll look for guards, and if we don't see any, we go. If there are, then we don't. We'll be in, and out. Fair enough?"
Twilight didn't like the sound of breaking into a park that'd been closed. But at the same time, she knew there would be no stopping Sunset from going there herself.
"Oh... alright."
"What do you say Pinkie? We go in so you can see the place one more time and finally get some closure," Sunset asked.
Pinkie wiped at her face. "Y-You'd do that for me?"
"Absolutely," Sunset smiled.
Like a light-switch had been flipped, Pinkie's demeanor suddenly flipped back to being happy and bubbly again.
"Squeeeeeeeeeee! I'd love to!" She swung Sunset around with the most joyous expression on her face, even making Sunset smile back.
"I thought you might," Sunset giggled. She looked back at her friends who were standing by. "Do any of you have any interest in doing a little urban exploring?"
The rest of the group exchanged looks, giving a few nods.
"Oh what the heck, I'm in," Applejack agreed.
"Count me in," Rainbow added.
"Me too," Rarity nodded.
"It sounds kind of scary... but I'll come," Fluttershy agreed as well.
"That just leaves you Twilight. What do you say?"
The recent addition to their school looked at them and sighed. She was outnumbered and outvoted in terms of wanting to go. And if there was security, they'd most likely be breaking all sorts of laws that would get them all arrested. She didn't want to graduate knowing she had a possible permanent criminal record. But she remembered what Shining Armor and Cadence had said time and time again; she had to learn to take risks. Maybe this not being what they had in mind, but still.
"Alright. I'll come with. But if there's any security or law enforcement monitoring the place, we need to leave at once."
"I'm sure it'll be fine," Sunset reassured. "Then let's do it; Saturday morning, we'll meet up and take Pinkie's minivan over to Canterlot's Wonderland."
On Saturday, Pinkie Pie had gotten herself dressed and ready to go in a jiffy. She took the Pie family minivan to pick up the girls one by one for their adventure. They discussed sometime after school on Friday on materials they would need for their journey. Backpacks held essentials like food and medical kits. Fluttershy volunteered to bring some cameras to get some photos (she mostly used them to take pictures of her animals to promote the animal shelter), which the girls happily obliged. Even Twilight brought a few extra pieces of equipment; cameras to mount on any shoulders or backpacks if they had any.
Finding a spot that wouldn't be hard to spot (and also staying out of sight of any possible security if they were to monitor the area), the group set off to the park. Their boots clopped on the stones and twigs as they made their hike through the path, bundled up in coats and bags. Fall season made things more chilly this time of year after all, not that it ever bothered the group
"So I understand wanting to take cameras in, but what exactly do you think we're going to see here? It's a park, isn't it?" Rainbow asked, only to get elbowed by Rarity.
"Rainbow Dash, honestly! We're doing this for Pinkie Pie, remember?" She whispered with gritted teeth.
"Urban explorations are cool! I've always wanted to do this but I could never find anyone to do it with... heh," Twilight awkwardly tittered. Applejack just yanked her close to give a side hug.
"Well you got friends who are here to do it with ya know. Just don't go wandering off too far, understand? I don't wanna lose ya, ya hear?"
"Of course," Twilight nodded.
"So remind me again, when did you go to this place?"
"Oh! My mom and dad took me and my sisters to this place on my 5th birthday! And ohhh the candy! There was so much candy here! Cookies, ice cream sundaes, sour and sweet gummies, pastries, doughnuts, popcorn..."
"How much you want to bet that's where her sweet tooth came from?" Applejack smirked, whispering to Rainbow Dash.
"--And that's where I found my sweet tooth!"
"You called it," Rainbow whispered back, silently fist bumping her friend.
Coming around the corner, the girls came across the main entrance to the park. Many of the buildings and structures were still standing, with a few areas torn apart. Foliage was sprouting back out of the cracks of the cement grounds, nature taking back the land that had been paved over. Roller coasters, the Ferris Wheel, various thrill rides all still remained stable, towering above the forests so that anyone could spot them from miles afar. Rust, dust and specks covered everything, making it uninhabitable for anyone if they went here.
Applejack whistled. "Wow. I gotta say, this is a lot bigger than I had expected it to be."
"This place got shut down?" Rainbow questioned. "This is a joke, right? This place looks great!"
"Yeah... it was," Pinkie wistfully smiled. "Welp; time to climb!"
Pinkie immediately threw herself up and slammed into the gate, clutching hard. Carefully she pulled herself up, and threw her legs over to the other side before letting go, slamming onto the ground.
"Ow."
Standing up, she dusted herself off, only to turn and find her friends had all made it to the other side with her. She was about to question how they made it there first, only to see the gaping hole in one of the fences that was big enough for them to walk through.
The center square of the park looked even worse upclose. They could see paint chips peeled off more of the structures, rides, even on the 'You-Are-Here' signs. Gathering around said sign, the girls studied it closely, even taking a few photos of the map so they could check later.
"Okay, so how shall we do this? Stay together, or split into two groups?"
"There's seven of us, isn't there? Three and four," Rainbow suggested.
"And stay in constant contact," Twilight added, giving everyone a separate radio com. "I know we have our phones, but it's hard to get some bars out here, better to be prepared."
"Then it's settled then. So, who goes with who?" Sunset asked.
"I'm taking Sunset!" Pinkie hollered before yanking her away in a cloud of smoke.
"... I guess the rest of us stay as one group then?" Twilight asked.
"Fine by me," Applejack shrugged.
Pinkie and Sunset walked along the left path of the park, looking around. The cold wind brushed past them, but neither one of them were bothered by the cold. Their eyes looked all around to observe the various attractions near them. Pinkie, despite her sadness earlier in the week, looked positively chipper. Even if everything she had seen was abandoned and decrepit, she was just happy to see them all again.
Along the rows they walked past were carnival games. Targets worn by time, with multiple dents and holes from thrown knives. Dart boards that once held balloons, no longer popped. Empty rows where ducks would be spinning around for fishing. Stands for various snacks of popcorn, candy, cotton candy, and whatever deep-fried food that would clog the arteries.
"This was always my favorite rows to walk down when I was a kid. After all the fun we'd have, we stop down here to get a last snack before we headed home; Maud always liked getting the rocky gummies," Pinkie reminisced as she gazed at some of the stands.
"I wish I went to stands like this back in Equestria," Sunset observed. "I forget how much fun the rest of my classmates had at the fair while I stayed and studied."
Passing by another stand, Pinkie's face lit up when she saw how bigger the stand was in comparison to the others. "Oooh, this one has more kitchen space!" Without hesitation, she leapt through the broken counter window like a diver to get inside.
Looking around, Pinkie brushed some of the dust on some of the counters, looking through the debris. Some old utensils, rusted from decades of usage. Old cups with questionable liquids still in them. Opening a drawer, Pinkie's eyes grabbed sight of a stack of papers buried inside. Pulling them out and wiping off some dust she saw a list of names with various dates.
"Ohhh... Sunset, check this out. I found some old employee listings! Man, lot of employees worked here; ooh, Principal Celestia worked here!" Pinkie chirped, looking at the listing.
"Wait what?" Sunset stuttered, still trying to process Pinkie's sudden dive through a window. Carefully she walked around the window and opened the door, following the source of Pinkie's call into the backroom. Sunset's eyes read the document, seeing the outdated print style and various names listed. "... huh. Well how about that."
The sound of old creaking hinges made them both nearly jump, turning their head directly to the side. Thankfully the source became clear when it was shown one of the cabinets was just open ajar, with no physical force to open it up.
"Just an old cupboard, Pinkie. Just an old cupboard," Sunset reassured, patting her shaking hand.
"Heh, heh heh, I-I thought so," Pinkie tittered.
Taking their leave, the two of them continued their walk through the carnival rows. More of the same as they passed; games and stands worn by the passage of time. Around the corner, there was a sign indicating many paths to go. One leading to some food stands, another to some restrooms, and two more that led to the gift shop, or to some of the park attractions.
Following one path, it led to two major attractions. The first one was a massive rollercoaster with many wooden platforms and walkways that went up to where you'd get on the ride. Second one was a small train system that had a single locomotive, several passenger cars, and even a brakevan in the back to complete the old style aesthetic. The vehicle was still parked at the station, and behind it was a turntable that had broke down, multiple sidings where a few old looking freight cars hung out, and a shed where the other two engines were resting. There was even a caboose sitting in the fourth spot.
"I used to ride on that train all the time!" Pinkie skipped over to the station, with Sunset dashing behind her. Opening the small kiosk, Pinkie dug around in some of the old boxes, finding a few tickets piling up.
"Think those are worth anything?"
"Oh I don't know. But I'm definitely holding onto these for scrapbooking!" Pinkie squeed, stashing them away in her backpack.
--
The two of them stopped at another venue, outside of another vendor shack where Pinkie immediately dug in to see if there was anything worthy of salvage to bring back. Sunset stopped in place when she heard a twig snap. Her eyes darted in all directions, trying to look for the source of whoever or whatever made that noise. While Pinkie was distracted with checking out an abandoned locker room, Sunset remained outside, making sure she came back out. Light was slowly turning to darkness, and thankfully she did have a flashlight on her. But the park started to turn from abandoned and dilapidated, to creepy and eerie.
Even though Pinkie was gone for a minute, to Sunset, it felt longer. Every sound, every sight, made her on edge the more and more she was alone. While she was no stranger to living on her own or moving about on her own, there was the safety of living in Canterlot that made her feel secure being alone. But out here in a park she had never been to?
Just keep it together Sunset it's fine. Don't know what Pinkie is taking so long to do, but just gotta keep it together for a few more.
Finally Pinkie came back, having added some more knick-knacks and collectibles to her backpack's inventory. Sighing with relief, the pony-girl followed Pinkie again to the next spot in the park to check out.
On their right was a simplistic carousel with multiple equines of various colors, including ones with sea themes, and even a few zebras included in the mix. Walking over, Pinkie looked at the sides of the wooden horses, trying to find the particular name she was hoping to find.
"Oh hey, Glory!" Pinkie pointed to a black horse with faded teal green and blue saddle painted all over.
"Huh. Pretty," Sunset admired. "I always wanted to try one of these."
"Isn't it a bit weird since well.. .you know...?" Pinkie rolled her hand with a knowing look.
"A little bit, sure. But let's not forget out here, I'm not a pony, so... yeah," Sunset wasn't sure how to finish that, so she just trailed off before looking at another attraction.
Locked in a massive rectangle with grass overflowing in the cracks of the ground, was a massive collection of damaged bumper cars. Some of the antennas were knocked down, with cracks in the lights, or the bumpers. Cushioning on the seats was also ripped and torn apart like critters had gone through them. Even some of the wheels were stolen, as shown by a few cars somehow laying on their sides or upside down.
"I always liked doing bumper cars, but I'm not a fan of the lack of cushioning some of them had. At least these guys thought about keeping concussions from happening," Sunset admired, walking around the attraction.
Another weird snapping sound drew both girls eye towards the noise. Around the corner, near a bustle of bushes and trees, there was some shaking, as if someone had ran past them. Worried sick, the two of them slowly stepped forward, hands clutching their own geodes if they had to get ready to defend themselves or scare someone away.
Hearts pounded like crazy as they drew closer, but Sunset and Pinkie did their best to put on brave faces. And when Sunset moved the branches aside--
Clickclickclickclick.
Looking down below, the girls sighed in relief. A cute little squirrel was just chattering on and off, gathering some food for a end of the day run. Leaving the little guy alone, they watched as the animal gathered some nuts and dashed off into the woods with a spring in his step, his fluffy tail bouncing with every jump.
With a short breath of relief, Pinkie and Sunset moved on to the next ride, finally getting close to being finished with their exploration.
Coming around a corner, they saw a small Ferris wheel, similar to ones found at traveling carnivals. It still seemed in solid enough condition, despite the passage of time. "Ohhh I remember this!" Pinkie squeed. "I remember Maud and I sat in this Ferris Wheel when we couldn't go on the big one!"
The party planner zipped over to it, sitting in one of the seats with no handles, just enjoying the soft moments of swaying back and forth. Sunset couldn't help herself but sit in the seat as well, even with how cramped it was for the two of them were.
"I can get back out if you want," Sunset offered.
"No, no, it's okay silly," Pinkie reassured with a cute grin.
For a brief moment, the two just looked forward, seeing a good portion of the park from where they sat. Despite the sadness of the park being closed down, it was still nice to see it again one last time, even if it wasn't in the best state. Sunset also thought back to the site Pinkie had looked up that showed the news of this forgotten place. Even if it was closed, there was no plans to bulldoze it and make something new. Maybe it would stay as a reminder of fond memories from long ago, or so Sunset had hoped.
Checking the watch, Sunset saw how late it was coming. Pinkie had the same idea, agreeing to come off the seat with her and follow her through the paths to go back to the car. Quickly Sunset texted the others to get them to follow suit, all the while Pinkie took one last look at the park around her, feeling a sense of satisfaction.
"Hey uh, Sunset?"
"What is it?" Sunset gave her undivided attention to the pink girl next to her.
"I... I wanted to say thank you. For all of this," Pinkie softly remarked, with a small smile showing relief. "I still wish I could have taken you guys to this when it was still around, but I appreciate you helping me see this place one last time."
Sunset could only smile back, giving Pinkie another well needed hug. She held her for much longer, with Pinkie sighing with content. One tear did come down, but not of sadness, but of happiness. Wiping it away, the two of them started to make their way back to the car, only to hear the sound of panic.
Behind them, they could see Rarity and Applejack running first, and above all odds, Fluttershy who was behind them, was the loudest.
"START THE CAR!!! START THE CAR!!!"
"What? What happened?"
"START THE FREAKING CAR!!!!!!!!!!"
Not wanting to question their friends, Sunset and Pinkie quickly got in and activated the vehicle. One by one, everyone ran back into the car, and Sunset drove as fast as possible.
"Okay, who is chasing us right now?" Sunset asked as she grind against the ground, moving far away from the park entrance.
"What if he's still there!?" Rarity freaked as she ducked.
"I wish I didn't suggest we go into that building! We should have left it alone!"
"What building?" Pinkie looked back.
"... you didn't see the building back there?"
"Oh no, that's the employee's office building, I never touched that one," Pinkie shrugged off. "Was that place abandoned too?"
"It was supposed to be!"
Half an hour of driving away from the park, the group made it back to Pinkie's house after a stressful trip back. No one spoke a word until they were completely assured they were safe in the sanctuary of Pinkie's home. Thankfully the mood was lifted with the assortment of chocolate chip cookies and milk to bring all around. Pinkie was still looking chipper as always, but she was still utterly confused as to what had happened while the rest of the girls were on their own.
"Okay, seriously, what happened in there?" Sunset asked again. "You all were dead silent since we got back here, mind telling me what went on with you girls?"
"Alright, alright, we'll talk," Rainbow sighed. "Okay, so, where do we even begin--"
"--I think I can handle this part. I did keep a full itinerary of notes since we started our search," Twilight offered with a sheepish grin.
Rainbow didn't argue or roll her eyes but instead rolled her hand as if to say 'go ahead', and leaned back in her chair to enjoy a cookie.
"Alright, so after Pinkie took you to go off on your own, we decided to do some looking around the park as well..."
The group of five had been wandering on the other side of the park, going through another line of small fast food stops in the shape of metal and wood shacks. Dust collected from passing years, with paper wearing out through time. All the while, walking past the stands and various games, they observed a few of them, intrigued by what they were like back in their heyday.
A table for soda toss, now vacant of any bottles. The remains of a dart board for innocent balloons, now left holding destroyed rubber. A dried up pool meant to hold water, void of rubber ducks to be fished.
"I may not be nostalgic for this place, but I'm starting to understand what Pinkie means. I remember a lot of my favorite places being shut down that I wanted to show you girls," Twilight looked around, taking another photo.
"Like what, exactly?" Applejack asked.
"I know there was a water park I loved going to as a kid before I moved here in Canterlot; it was outside the city, half an hour drive. It was a fun place, but they had to close due to financial problems, even though they were raking in a lot of customers," Twilight explained, rubbing her hand on a table, before coughing at the dust.
"I know the feeling," Fluttershy sympathized. "My favorite zoo had to be closed indefinitely, but not for money problems."
"What happened?"
"The animals weren't being properly taken care of," Fluttershy shivered. "It got bad that they all had to be moved to separate enclosures outside the zoo, or moved to a research facility for treatment."
"Yeesh. Honestly I say that's worse than not meeting ends meet," Rainbow replied.
Finally moving out, they found something in the park that stood out like a sore thumb. A big two-story structure, with the big doors and sign clearly intended to be the gift shop for the park. The outside had a simplistic red brick and cement wall, with broken glass on the doors, and some wood boarding up the few windows that were destroyed.
"... Okay, that's totally not creepy at all, how about we don't check it out?" Twilight suggested, wanting to turn right back around.
"Well hang on, what if there's some cool stuff leftover the owners didn't take? Maybe we can bring some fun stuff with us...?" Rainbow suggested. "And before you jump on me, this place is closed, and no longer in business, so why take a look?"
"Mmm..."
"I don't know, Rainbow. What if there's any security around? I don't know how to explain to my mom and dad if I got arrested..." Fluttershy worried.
Rainbow held back a groan. "Five minutes. We look for five minutes, and we get out. Fair enough?"
"... fine. But just to be clear, I'm not saying yes because I agree to your terms, I'm only going because I want to make sure you stay safe," Twilight sternly warned.
Rainbow didn't reply with a snarky remark, only giving her a sincere smile to say 'I understand'. Reluctantly, one by one, they made their way into the gift shop to take a closer look. The front doors were old and rickety, making the most audible of moans as they were gently pushed open to enter into the vicinity. The noise was enough to make all five of the girls cringe in fear as they made their way inside.
"Well, if there aren't any squatters that could hear us outside, they probably heard us now," Rarity whispered with annoyance.
Carefully they stepped inside, turning on flash lights one by one. It was much darker on the inside than it was outside, after all. The shelves once filled with plushies, now collected dust. The racks that once had fun magazines and coloring books, now stood empty with nothing to carry. Cash registers with no money. Ripped posters, broken glass, peeled wallpaper, the place was just as badly kept like the rest of the park.
A musty aroma was in the air, something that Fluttershy and Rarity tried to avoid as much as possible, as to not throw up violently in the middle of the room. On the walls, Rainbow shone a light to see a few more interesting photos, old employees that had long since moved on to other work, or to enjoy a different aspect of life, no longer working.
Applejack's eyes lingered to a few boxes, showing they were full of contents. Inside were a few plushies, some still intact but in need of washing. With a shrug, she put one away in her pack, considering offering to Rarity to do a cleanup job to gift to Apple Bloom one day.
Not a whole lot to look at in the main store, no thanks to most of it being cleared out of all merchandise and items. Curiosity led Canterlot's team captain to go to the door marked Employees Only, looking around the area. Inside there was just a hallway that led to a locker room, just as derelict as everything else. Tiles were coming undone, the walls were discolored from lack of washing and care, and the smell?
Even Rainbow was trying to hold back the disgust, even if it was just by lifting her shirt over her nose as best as possible. Looking around, she didn't see a whole lot, the lockers were all opened and void of any belongings left behind. To her left there was an area with tables and some leftover entertainment, clearly meant for the employees to decompress for a break or two.
But what shook the group was the next sound they heard, the sounds of footsteps above them. Small dust leaked through the ceiling, marking where the person above them was walking, making everyone's spine shiver.
"Okay... whatever you do... do not say anything," Twilight whispered. "Let's just slowly move out, we go out the door, and book it to the car as fast as possible. Pinkie just sent me a text."
"Okay," Rainbow agreed, slowly walking back with Twilight.
One by one, they slowly moved out of the locker room, while still trying to get their butts out as fast as possible. They made it to the middle of the room, but saw Fluttershy freeze in place. Everyone soon found out why.
Someone else was here in the park with them, directly facing one of the walls, showing some old wanted ads from long ago. No one could tell who the person was, shrouded in a dark cloak and hood to hide who they were. Staying dead silent, the girls tried to back away, only for Twilight's heel to clamp down on broken glass.
The figure didn't react, at least, not right away. Their head slowly turned, as if to give a side-eye glance.
"H-Hi, sorry, we didn't know anyone was here, w-we'll be leaving now," Twilight apologized quickly, now a little curious if this person was friendly or not.
It was still dark in that part of the store, to the point where no one could tell who they were when they pulled the hood down and turned around. A pair of glowing magenta eyes lingered in the dark, softly growling as it glared at the girls, not happy with them being there at all. The figure's growl grew louder and louder until it said one thing that was as clear as day to them.
"GEETTTTTTTTTTTTTT OUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!"
All five of the girls screamed at the top of their lungs, and ran as fast as possible, and didn't look back, not for a second.
"So none of you ever saw who that guy was?"
"It could have been a guy, girl, who cares, they were mad at us, they sounded like a banshee!" Applejack slammed her fist down. "But back to what I was tryin' to ask before we delved into that story... Pinkie, were you able to see all ya wanted?"
"Yeah, I was," Pinkie smiled with content. "I got to say goodbye, and, well... I won't forget it. I'm sad it's not going to open again, but I'm at least happy I was able to see it one more time for good."
"That's good to hear," Rarity cooed. "I'm happy for you, darling."
"... Okay, no, no, I still need to ask. Who WAS THAT GUY?" Rainbow still insisted.
But the fact of the matter was, none of them did. And when police would come around to the park to check, they didn't find any squatters living inside that abandoned shop once filled with merch. The squatter was there one day, and in the next he would vanish when people with more power than them would arrive. No one would ever know who they were.
And to tell you the truth... I don't think we ever will.
