"Luna?" She asked, looking around the room. "Maybe she's in the kitchen?"

Ruby smiled and closed her eyes. "Good night, mom..."

As she rested, images of Luna with all those stallions entered her mind. She then saw Luna turn her back and walk away from her. Leaving her. Abandoning her. Eyes clenching, Ruby began to shake as she tried to ignore those thoughts. As her fists clenched, she opened her eyes to find that she was atop the mare, her hands on her throat. Luna was gasping for air and staring up at her, wide-eyed.

"You said you'd never leave me," Ruby growled, her eyes going red. She then grabbed the mare's jaw, then tearing it off with a wet crunch. As the alicorn screamed and cried, trying to desperately stop the bleeding with her hands, Ruby leaned in close. "Try telling me your fucking lies now, mother," she hissed, before shoving the severed jaw into the alicorn's left eye. After the mare screamed some more, she slowly faded away, as did the house.

Ruby was now left alone in the vast emptiness that was her home. Breathing heavily, her eyes returned to normal.

"I can't pretend anymore..." she said to herself. "It just won't work..." Slowly standing up, she looked around at the world around her. "I can't deny who I am. My purpose is nightmares. To spread fear into others and feed off their horror..." Looking down at herself, she closed her eyes. "I must change and adapt to be what I am..."

Tilting her head back, her form began to change into that of a blood red batpony with red eyes and bat wings. When she opened her eyes, she eyed her wings before folding them up against her back. Feeling her bat ears, she smiled. "And, Ruby is not very fitting for a mare in my line of work..." Whipping around, she saw a manifestation of Nightmare Moon, who was just standing there. "Nightmare Moon," Ruby cooed, walking up to her. "My mother... And me... The mare of nightmares... How fitting," she said with a smirk. "Night... mare..." MAking the image of Nightmare Moon fade away, she sighed. "Nightmare..."

With a wave of her hand, many different windows into other ponies' dreams appeared all around her. With all the power she now had, she could infiltrate other dreams. Just not the dreams of her creator. Looking around at all the dreams, she chuckled.

"Get ready, everypony..." she growled. "Nightmare is here..."
