Mlp Slither
The Meteor
Load Full StoryNext ChapterIt was a beautiful night in Ponyville. There were no clouds in the sky and no wind was blowing. Twilight Sparkle and her most trusted assistant, Spike, were going to watch a meteor shower from a hill near her castle. Spike have been feeling very lonely lately since Twilight had been very busy the last 2 weeks. She thought that watching the meteor shower with him would be the perfect way of making it up to him, and considering how happy he became, she believes she had succeeded.
"Thank you for this Twilight, I really needed this" Spike said with a smile on his face.
"You're welcome Spike, that's what friends are for after all. I'm so sorry for not being able to spend more time with you but these 2 weeks have been very hectic."
"It's okay, I understand. I just wish that your royal duties didn't take so much of your time and energy." Spike said, this time looking done at his feet.
"Believe me, so do I but we both knew that when I became a princess there would be times were I would have little to no free time. Unfortunately the last 2 weeks left me with just that, but let's not think about right now. Let's just relax and enjoy the evening."
With that being said both of them continued to watch the night sky, admiring the twinkling stars and the crescent moon, waiting for the meteor shower to begin.
Not long after the sky lit up with small lines of fire. Twilight couldn't help but smile when she saw Spike look up to the sky in absolute awe. She wanted to enjoy that moment as much as she could, if there is one thing that she has learned since she became a princess is that nopony has all the time in the world. Not even when you're immortal like Celestia.
"Ehh Twilight, is it just me or is that meteor getting closer?" Snapping back to reality, Twilight looked up and realized that Spike was right, one of the meteors was getting closer.
Before either of them could utter another word it crashed not too far from where they were. "Wow. Come on Twilight, we gotta check it out!" Spike said as he ran towards the crash site.
"Wait for me!" Twilight said a bit anxiously. She didn't want her first assistant to run off alone in the middle of the night.
When both of them arrived at the crater they were greeted by an unexpected sight. The meteor was a perfect sphere, red as a brick and had a wrinkle like pattern on its surface.
"Wow, it looks like a brain." Spike said.
"I have never seen any meteorite like this before! We have to take it back to the castle, imagine the things we can learn from it!" Twilight said excitingly, as her inner scientist took over while studying the strange rock.
Suddenly it cracks open, exposing a fleshy inside.
"Eww, what the hay is that!" Spike said.
"I-I don't know. But I think it's best if we take a step back from it." Twilight said nervously, suddenly no longer interested in studying the meteorite.
While they were talking a needle-like object popped out of the fleshy mass and pointed towards Spike.
"Ehh Twilight, what is it doing?" Spike said, his voice cracked with fear as the needle started to vibrate.
"Spike get away from it!" Twilight yelled as she ran towards him.
Barely after she finished that sentence the needle was shot out. Having no time to think or cast a spell, Twilight pushed Spike out of harm's way, only to be hit instead. The needle buried itself inside her flesh on a spot behind her right foreleg. She tried to use her magic to pull it out, but it disappeared into her body before she could.
Twilight could feel the needle crawl beneath her skin and muscles, the pain got so intense that she collapsed on the ground shaking. She could only shut her eyes and whimper in pain as the alien parasite continued to wriggle its way through her innards. When it found her spine it followed it up towards her skull and drilled through it effortlessly.
It pierced Twilight's brain and in that moment she saw her whole life flash before her eyes. Even the faintest of memories were brought up in vivid detail, her friends and family, every spell she knew, every place she had ever visited, every pony she had ever meet and every secret she knew. All of it was consumed by the parasite along with her very soul as it continued to absorb her brain.
Spike was completely paralyzed by fear. He watched his closest friend thrash around in agony with no idea what was happening or what he what he could do to help. Suddenly Twilight stooped moving and was perfectly still. Spike felt like a gaping hole was forming in his chest, wondering if he had just watched her die until he saw that she was still breathing.
“Twilight?” He asked as he slowly approached her, his voice barely above a whisper.
He saw the wound she got when she took that hit for him. A trail of blood had poured out of the small hole, but otherwise looked no worse than a nasty bug bite.
“Twilight?” He asked again as he gently touched her neck.
Instantly her eyes flew open, causing Spike to jump back. She got up on all 4 hooves before walking straight towards the library. Her eyes were wide but empty, her posture was rigid and her walking almost mechanical. Spike ran after her, calling her name over and over again but she didn’t seem to hear him. Suddenly Twilight turned around and Spike, being unable to stop himself, ran into her.
“Twilight! Are you okay!?” Spike asked her while trying to look into her eyes.
She looks like she was tired and dizzy, with her eyes being half closed and dull. She shook her head as if she was trying to wake up from a deep sleep. She looked down on to the worried dragons face and gave him a reassuring smile.
“I’m okay Spike.” She said in a calm and gentle voice. “I was just disoriented.”
Spike was unsure if he believed that. “What happened?” He asked with great concern “You were laying on the ground convulsing and looked like you were in a lot of pain.”
“I’m not sure.” She looked genuinely uncertain but still remained eerily calm. “Regardless I feel fine so I don’t think we have to worry much about it. Let’s get back to the castle and eat something. For some reason I’m really hungry.”
