Idiosyncrasy is Magic: Neigh Town
A Sweet Pen Time
Previous ChapterAcross a cobblestoned path and far away from the town hall square, Penny trotted peacefully. Around the blue unicorn mare, there were unique buildings with medieval and modern style put together and plenty of space occupied by lawns and a few trees.
The personal secretary of Neigh Town's mayor was on an important mission: to find a group of female Pegasi known as The Squad Trio and give them details about a reunion they must assist during today's afternoon at Mayor Smith's office.
"Seeing the sky is clear and the weather forecast tells today's going to be sunlit, they probably are in their favorite idling spot." Penny mused as she looked up at the vast blue sky. "Because I already went to Miss Wolff and Miss Summers' house and I didn't found them in there, which means I have to go to Miss Winter-White's cloud house in the outskirts." With that on mind, she stood over the village's entrance to take course on the path leading to Neigh Mount, located to the northwest.
"Hi, Penny!"
Blinking and turning around, she saw one of her fellow citizens approaching to her: A unicorn mare with orange fur, bubbly neon blue hair, purple eyes and cutie mark of a red gelatin.
"Hello, Miss Sweet." The polite secretary pony greeted to the owner of the local dessert shop.
"Come on… you can just call me Jelly. You don't have to be so formal around me all the time." The orange unicorn rolled her eyes, simpering a little.
"Alright… Jelly." Penny shrugged.
"So… Where are you going?" Jelly asked curiously, tilting her head.
"Mayor Smith requires The Squad Trio to come to an important meeting scheduled for this afternoon." The secretary replied matter-of-factly.
"I see." Jelly blinked. "To Grace's place, uh?" The answer she received from her fellow unicorn was a simple nod. Then, she expressed in mild annoyance. "Sometimes, I wonder why that snooty Pegasus had to live around a rocky territory." Frowning and shaking her head in disapproval, she added. "It's really unfair for non-flying, amazing ponies like you to have to go all the loooong way to her house just to look for her when somepony needs her."
Penny's ears perked up when they sensed a compliment in Jelly's last sentence. She hoped her neighbor didn't see a little blush forming on her cheeks. "Maybe Miss Winter-White set her home in Neigh Mount for privacy reasons and nature appreciation."
"I guess you're right… but still." Jelly agreed, snorting. However, she internally smirked. "And don't think I haven't notice your blush, oh my little Penny. You are very bad at hiding that adorable blush from me… also, that blue hue didn't help you at all." She couldn't help but giggling.
The secretary unicorn raised a quizzical eyebrow. "What do you find so humorous?"
"Sorry… I just remembered a silly joke in my mind." The orange mare lied. She mentally cringed as she did something really bad at a good pony like Penny. But she had good reasons to do so… more or less.
"Alright…" Penny just blinked. Then, she furrowed her brow. "Excuse me, but I have to go now."
Groaning, the carrot-colored mare mumbled. "I know…" But suddenly, an imaginary on-light bulb popped out above her head, indicating the pony just got a bright idea. "Hey, Penny! Can I go with you?" She asked with a broad grin.
Frowning in concern, the blue unicorn asked. "What about your shop? Don't you have to run it?"
Scoffing at those questions, Jelly said with a smirk. "Not at all! It's day-off for me." She then added. "Besides, Alexis decided to take care of it for me while I'm going for a stroll."
"Look, Jelly…" Penny said calmly. "You can just saunter on your own. I'm so busy right now and it wouldn't be good for you to waste your free time on me." She hoped it convinced her fellow unicorn to let her alone…
… But it didn't.
Jelly used the power of puppy eyes on the secretary mare. "Let me go with you, Penny. Say yes, pretty Pleeeease?" She begged in a foal-like way.
It was quite effective.
Sighing on defeat, Penny conceded and murmured. "Fine, fine. You win." She couldn't help but finding the pleading look of her orange neighbor so cute. Shaking that thought out, she uttered firmly. "Let's go."
"Lead the way, my friend~" Jelly did a flourish with her hoof, gesturing at the dirty path ahead.
The blue unicorn just rolled her maroon eyes and gave a little chuckle as she trotted to her destination. Her unicorn companion followed suit next to her.
Verdant hills and dispersed bunches of trees and shrubs surrounded the unicorn duo silently trekking on the grassless road. Neigh Mount could be seen on the horizon.
The carrot-colored mare was feeling a little bored to stay quiet for the entire hike after she and her pal left the village. Her brain was coming up with something to start a conversation. "I guess I could try…" Jelly coughed a little to get Penny's attention.
*Ahem!*
The blue just looked sideways and cocked an eyebrow, still remaining quiet while trotting forward.
"The mighty color of atmosphere dowses us in fresh life." The orange unicorn crooned softly. "Picturesque our land of birth remains." Closing her purple eyes and puffing proudly her chest, she uttered in a gallant tone. "May Lady Jelly Sweet honor Everlot folks, all and sundry, with her lyrical prowess for another date?"
Giggling genuinely, Penny said with a smile. "What are you doing, Jelly? Trying to impress me with poetry?"
"It's pretty obvious." Jelly bragged with a smirk. "I just came up with a silly jumble of fancy words to make you speak."
Collecting herself, the secretary mare admitted. "I have to say what you just intoned in prose was so amusing for my ears."
"You're welcome." Jelly beamed. Internally, she proclaimed her victory upon hearing Penny's compliment, happily closing her eyes. "AHA! I knew Penny loves reading stuff like that." Her brain then threw her a reminder. "I will thank Ximena for lending me that dictionary."
"Jelly, look! We're almost there." Penny announced, bringing Jelly back to reality. "Just one mile more after descending this hill." She then trotted carefully down a very sloped area.
"Huh…?" The orange unicorn hadn't paid any attention to where she was going while deep on her happy thoughts. She quickly opened up her eyes, but it was too late. She gave a big misstep on the slanted road. "WHOAH!" She cried in alarm as her body stumbled, plummeted and rolled along.
The secretary mare heard her fellow unicorn yelp and look sideways. "Jelly! What's happe-" She didn't finish the question as she felt a collision from behind, sending her to roll uncontrollably along the inclined area.
A colorful pile of pony limbs and hairs speedily bowled and bounced down the hill which the unicorn duo was just moments ago before that little incident occurred. Sounds of ouches and thuds broke the serenity of the landscape.
Their rolling came to a stop once the mares got to a flat meadow, the dirty road a little far away.
Jelly was lying on her back and being pinned down by the now sprawled blue secretary mare. Both ponies got their hairs disheveled and Penny's glasses surprisingly remained on her face and without any scratch… though slightly slanted. They had shocked and flushed faces while gaping at each other's eyes.
Recoiling quickly her head, the cornflower blue unicorn was the first to break the awkward silence, her agitated maroon eyes still fixed on Jelly's anxious purple ones. "Jelly… I… Huh… are you alright…?!" She stammered, worry and shame on her voice. "I feel so strange in this position over Miss Sw… I mean… Jelly. But I do like it…" A mental gasp sounded in her confounded mind. "What did I just think?!"
"Uh… Well… Yes… ehm… I'm… really okay…" The carrot-colored unicorn spluttered and nodded tensely, a nervous grin on her face. "I would rather say much better~" A naughty thought came but she shook it away quickly as she continued. "And… I'm so sorry for… ehm… making us fall…" She let out a sheepish squee, flattening her ears to her head's side.
"It's alright…" Penny said with a strained smile. Though deep down, she found Jelly very attractive when embarrassed. Coughing forcefully and looking sideways, she hastily suggested. "Maybe we should get up now."
"What are you waiting for, you stupid little foal? Tell her now!" An assertive thought manifested on Jelly's brain. "This is your big chance to make her yours. Just do it!"
"WAIT!" came the squeaky shout from Jelly's mouth. She firmly but softy wrapped her forelegs around Penny's waist, making the other unicorn unable to move away.
The secretary's cheeks reddened more intensely than before as she felt Jelly's hooves around her body. "Why is she holding me back?!" Her confused mind exclaimed. "J-Je-elly…?" She gawked.
Jelly simply blurted out. "I have been infatuated for you since I met you!"
"Huh? Wait! What?" Penny got a speechless expression on her face at this revelation, her baffled brain trying to analyze every word of Jelly's confession. "Jelly Sweet has a crush on me! I don't know how to react to this! I respect same-sex relationships… but I never have expected another mare to be in love with me." Meanwhile, her stomach was being invaded by fluttering butterflies and her heartbeat rate raced like if she was running in a marathon. "But… W-Why?"
"Well, this is it. No turning back now…" Getting more courage to talk, Jelly continued. "You may see me as your typical, next-door acquaintance…" Her blush intensified. "… but I want to know you better… to go out with you…"
The blue unicorn felt so flattered by somepony being interested on her in a romantic way. It did explain why Jelly wanted to impress her with a poem earlier. "…Still… why me…?" She knitted her brow in confusion. "I'm just a reserved office assistant… There are more sociable ponies than me who you could be better with." She muttered. "My lifestyle could be so boring for you…"
"Boring?" Jelly blinked with an incredulous look on her face. "WHAT?!" She almost yelled at her crush, her mouth agape. "Don't you dare to say me such nonsense!" Using her forelegs once again, she dragged Penny's head closer to hers, their snouts bumping each other.
"Whoah!" Penny exclaimed in surprise as her face got inches too close to Jelly's. Her breathing speeded up and her heart pulsated franticly as her cheeks felt hot huffs coming out from Jelly's nostrils.
The carrot-colored mare purred with half-lidded purple eyes. "Okay, my dear Penelope. Let me show you how wrong you are~" And without further ado, she gave a smacker to her timid crush on the lips.
The secretary unicorn squeaked in Jelly's mouth. "Oh my Everlot! Jelly Sweet is kissing me! I never have been kissed like that in my entire life! What should I do now?!" She thought desperately until instinct took over her body and made its move, throwing her worries and shame at the nothingness.
Penny opened wide her muzzle and returned the gesture to her mate, moaning of excitement. Closing her eyes, she put her forelegs behind Jelly's head to pull the orange mare closer and deepen the kiss.
Jelly rolled over so that she now was on top, never breaking the making-out moment she was having with her beautiful mare. She then prodded her tongue inside her first lover's mouth and began to toy with her partner's oral muscle.
The blue mare let out a soft moan as her tongue was touched by Jelly's more eager one. Penny made her flavor-sensitive organ sensually caress the invader one, which in return pull it into an erotic dance.
Feeling fervor in her spirit, Jelly pushed her muzzle into Penny's mouth to get her tongue as deeper as it could. She felt her lover's hooves on the back of her head, pressing her closer. Their first kiss now was turning into a very passionate one as the two unicorns wildly intertwined their warm tongues into an amatory duel for dominance and swapped each other's saliva. Their moans or pleasure, heated puffs and wet smooching sounds were like a lovely melody for the besotted twosome.
However, their amorous embrace wouldn't last for too long as their lungs started to demand oxygen.
Begrudgingly, Jelly and Penny pulled apart and half-opened their eyes, their tongues lolling up and with a strand of mixed saliva connecting them from their tips. The mares panted in synchrony while catching their breath.
"Oh my…" Penny sighed in awe. "That was…"
"Incredible." Jelly finished with a blissful smirk, licking her lips to savor Penny's saliva mixed with hers a little more. She then turned over on her side so that she could cuddle and nuzzle her new marefriend. "And to be our first time, you are a very good kisser, Pens."
The secretary unicorn swallowed the spittle pooled around and below her tongue, blushing and grinning timidly as it went through her throat. She can't help but finding her love-given nickname silly and cute. "You also are great kisser, Sweetie."
Giggling, Jelly playfully rolled her eyes. "Okay… we both are. Agreed?"
"Indeed." Penny replied with a smile as she rubbed her head on her lover's neck, being extra careful with her horn to avoid accidental pokes.
*Whoosh!* *THUD!*
Both unicorn ponies neighed in alarm and quickly got back on their hooves as something… or someone hit the ground hard around them. Their eyes widened in unison as they saw a familiar equine individual having suffered from a bad crash-landing case.
In the meadow laid face down a cyan female Pegasus with curly blond hair and cutie mark of three honeycomb cells. She staid sprawled and her neon pink eyes rolled in a dizzy manner, her wings spread out to her sides.
"Oh no, Sunny!" Jelly gasped. She and her mate made haste side by side towards their stunned fellow citizen.
Concerned, Penny asked. "Miss Summers, are you alright?"
The Pegasus pony in question comically shook her head to get rid of her dizziness. She then looked up and slurred. "Piney… is ta yuu?"
"Thanks to Everlot you are alright…" Penny sighed of relief… though slightly with some resignation. She then corrected the blonde mare. "And it's Penny, but close enough, I guess…" She thought with a mental face-hoof. "I have to get used to her medical condition. It makes her not remember my name right…"
"What happened this time? Did you crash with something in the sky?" Jelly asked, cocking an eyebrow.
Sunny flapped her wings to propel herself off the grassy ground and hover in place, her hooves idly dangling. "Heya, girls. I accidentally fell from a cloud…" She gave a silly squee.
"Don't tell me you forgot how to fly in that very moment…" Jelly blinked incredulously.
"I guess it happened…" The Pegasus mare shrugged. Then, she scratched her head with a hoof. "You know, because my… uh… shop-terminal… ehm… memoir gloss…?"
"It's short-term memory loss." The secretary mare intervened.
"Yeah, that." Sunny nodded with a smile.
Penny and Jelly look at each other with little frowns on their faces and then turned to look back at Sunny.
"And do you remember what were you doing in a cloud before falling?" Penny asked curiously.
Sunny tapped a foreleg under her chin, deep in thought. "Last time, I saw my handsome Prince Russet…" She suddenly got a goofy smile, stopping herself in mid-sentence. Fluttering her wings like a hummingbird, she slowly descended to the ground and landed on her belly, with her forelegs supporting her head below the chin. She let out a dreamy sigh and cooed. "Oh, my heroic Russet~"
Jelly groaned and rolled her eyes, thinking. "Typical Sunny… her crazy daydreaming about him…" She paused, knitting her brow. "Hold on…"
"Penny, didn't you have something to talk with The Squad Trio about…?" The carrot-colored unicorn tilted her head.
The sharp sound of glass shattering reverberated inside Penny's mind as she realized she was supposed to do something in the first place. Her horrified face went pale and her maroon eyes shrank like peas. "OH MY EVERLOT!! I COMPLETELY FORGOT ABOUT THE MEETING MESSAGE FOR THE SQUAD TRIO!! I PROMISED MAYOR SMITH I WOULD INFORM THEM ABOUT THE REUNION!!" She sharply turned around in every direction to look for the dirty road until she fixed her frantic eyes on it. "EUREKA! THERE IS THE MAIN ROAD!" She grinned painfully, her eyes narrowed. "I MUST HURRY TO NEIGH MOUNT BEFORE I GET TARDY!!"
Startled by her lover's outburst, Jelly slapped at Penny's cheek and exclaimed exasperatedly. "Calm down, Penny! We have Sunny right here!" She sharply pointed out a hoof at the still daydreaming pony. Frowning, she thought. "I feel so horrible for hitting my mare like this, but I needed to stop her madness… I will make up to her, I promise myself."
Snapping out of her frantic tantrum, the secretary mare rubbed her sore cheek and dumbly gaped at Jelly. Then she looked sideways, scratching the ground timidly with her hoof and blushing in utter shame. Coughing, she murmured. "Hehe… yes… Sorry… I did deserve that…"
"Awww… she looks so adorable when embarrassed." Softening her expression, Jelly giggled. "It's okay." She gave a peck on the same cheek where a few seconds ago she had smacked her marefriend. "Better?" She smiled as her blue unicorn relaxed with a happy sigh. She then continued. "Now go ahead and give Sunny the message."
The unicorn duo noticed the blonde Pegasus was still fantasizing about a recent denizen of Neigh Town she fell in love with.
"But first I have to bring her back to reality in the only way that works." Penny sighed. Approaching towards the absentminded Pegasus mare, her horn began to glow with dark blue magic aura. "Forgive me for what I'm about to do, Miss Summers. But I need to talk to you right now."
A blue alarm clock appeared in the thin air. Penny telekinetically moved it very close to Sunny's ear and activated the bell on the top.
*Riiiiiiing!*
"HUAH!" The Pegasus mare flinched and swatted the clock with her hoof, the device bursting into magic poof. She had got back on her hooves. Narrowing her eyes at the responsible to ruin her reverie, she sneered. "This again, Piney?!"
"Sorry, but I have something very important to tell you. So please: Listen and focus." Penny stated seriously. She didn't bother to try to correct Sunny's misname… it always failed. Her horn sparkled again and a scroll materialized in a blue magic dust puff. Trying to make it easy for Sunny to understand, the unicorn said. "Deliver this message to your friends Grace and Sally. It's urgent." She was about to give the piece of rolled-up paper to the blonde pony as said mare raised a hoof like a stop signal.
"Wait! I need to prepare myself first." The Pegasus mare declared.
"I knew she was going to do that…" Penny thought with a sigh.
Out of nowhere, Sunny pulled out behind her back a mailbag and mail-mare's cap and put both items on. "Sunny Summers at your service!" The cyan mare saluted, making a ridiculous scrunch for some reason. "I'll deliver your message to my friends in no time!" She then snatched the scroll from Penny's hoof, put it inside the mailbag and dashed off in a blink.
Penny looked up at the direction where Sunny flied. "Albeit her forgetfulness and daydream tendencies, Miss Summers can be trusted as our mail-mare." Without anything else to do, she said. "Alright, Sweetie. Time to go back to Neigh Town. Mayor Smith must be worried about me taking so much time than usual to be back at his office." Turning around, she raised a quizzical eyebrow as she saw Jelly muffling a giggle.
"Pens, do you really think to go back to work looking like that?" Jelly stifled a laugh with a hoof. "You should see yourself in a mirror."
The secretary pony blinked until it clicked on her. "Oh... Hehe… You have a point… We are still untidy after that rolling down the hill. I had forgotten about that…" She snickered.
"Let's go to my place. We could get a nice bathtub and good grooming together." Jelly offered with a wink. "After all, I have to make up to you for slapping you in the face…" She whispered with a blush.
"Alright. It sounds splendid." Penny beamed, blushing deeply. She then frowned a little. "Though, I will have to explain Mayor Smith about my delay."
"Don't worry about it, my love. I will be there for you." The orange unicorn flashed a reassuring smile. "You don't have to do that alone. You have me now."
Penny felt tears of happiness to glass over her maroon eyes. "She has been so caring about me today. She also filled the emptiness in my heart that I had for a very long time." Remembering Jelly's confession, she felt a warm grin come to her muzzle. "Hey Sweetie. I'm thinking we can stargaze and have a picnic in this very spot tomorrow at sundown. How does it sound to you?"
"Oh my Everlot!" Jelly gasped happily, her purple eyes twinkling with pure glee. "I would love going out with you on our official first date!" She hugged and snuggled her marefriend.
"Yes. Just you and me together." Penny sighed with a smile.
Penny and Jelly nuzzled each other's snouts and trotted side by side towards the dirty road and back to their village, their tails intertwined.
