Twilight frowned into her Neighditerranean salad. She’d really gone all out on making it the best that she could. The dressing and cheese had come all the way from Fleece, and she’d had the palace chef watching her the entire time to ensure that the dish was as true to its culinary roots as possible. It wasn’t often that she cooked for Rarity, but she’d wanted to do a special something for a special pony. Rarity, however, wasn’t there. Rarity was late for dinner. Again.
With a sigh, Twilight rose to her hooves and began walking. She may not have predicted her lover being absent once again, but she could at least predict where the unicorn would be. Her legs carried her down the familiar route, out of the dining hall, into the southern wing, and up the third flight of stairs to Rarity’s ‘creative space’. She’d never quite understood why Rarity had chosen such an out of the way place as her design studio, but then, there were plenty of things about fashion that she still didn’t understand, and Rarity had insisted that it was simply perfect for “the cultivation of fabulosity”.
Under normal circumstances, Twilight wouldn’t mind the odd stretch of losing Rarity to her work. Sometimes a new design simply ran away with her, and sometimes it served as an outlet for working through emotions in a way that talking simply couldn’t match. After nine years, she’d completely accepted that sometimes, Rarity simply needed to create in solitude. This time, though. . . this time something was different.
It wasn’t just how little time they’d had to themselves of late. That wasn’t unusual, especially given recent events. Between Rarity in the design stages for her upcoming autumn line, and Twilight’s recent work trying to promote harmony between the rams of the Fleecian city states, the lack of couple’s time had been expected. It was more that, even during the time that they’d set aside for each other, Rarity always seemed distant. Distracted. Twilight had noticed it perhaps two weeks ago, and although she was usually happy for Rarity to bring up issues in her own time, the distance between them had grown more than Twilight could tolerate. She just hoped that the upcoming conversation would be positive. She’d only seen Rarity angry a hoof-ful of times, but her cold, stone-faced scowl had always hurt far worse than any amount of screaming or broken furniture could.
Soon enough, Twilight came to the door of Rarity’s studio, its edges bordered by warm light. She could just barely make out the telltale mutterings of Rarity in the midst of a new sketch, though she couldn’t help but notice their subdued tone, even through the door. Frowning slightly, Twilight reached up and gave the door a trio of soft knocks.
“Come in,” answered a distracted voice, causing Twi’s frown to deepen a few degrees as she pushed the door open.
The familiar kaleidoscope of rolled fabric and well sorted gems greeted her as she entered, their presence turning one wall into a dazzling collage of color and texture. It was a stark contrast to the alabaster coat of the unicorn that sat huddled against the far wall, bent over her design table. She hadn’t so much as looked up, and while that wasn’t altogether unusual for the fashionista when the creative urge took over, Twi had rarely seen her looking so down-trodden. The elegant twirl of her mane and tail were in clear need some touching up, and she rarely ever looked so. . . tired. Fatigued, certainly, but the slump of her shoulders made her look almost defeated.
She murmured things under her breath, just audible over the chime of her magic as a quill occasionally made itself visible behind her. As Twilight got closer, she could make out, “. . . pleats, perhaps. . . no, no, too much contrast. . .”
Suppressing yet another sigh, Twilight instead cleared her throat. “Rarity?”
Rarity’s words stopped, but she didn’t look up. “Ah, hello darling.” It was a full ten seconds later that she added, “How are you? Is everything alright?”
After a moment of struggle, Twilight managed to keep the smile on her face. “I’m okay. Dinner’s ready.”
“Ah, lovely,” replied the unicorn, her eyes still glued to the paper in front of her. “I really do need to finish this ensemble, but I’ll certainly join you if I can. Does anything look especially good tonight?”
The wince was instant and overpowering, though she was at least able to keep the tears from spilling. Rarity had never been so dismissive. Distracted, certainly, but never dismissive. “The Neighditerranean salad looks good,” she murmured, willing her voice to be steady. “I’ll try to save some for you.”
“Mm, please do! That sounds simply scrumpti-” the sentence died unfinished as Rarity abruptly looked up, then to the side, her expression a mask of stricken focus which morphed quickly into panic. “Oh no. . .” She finally turned toward Twilight, guilt written across her entire face as she murmured, “Tonight was. . . I didn’t. . .”
The princess could only give her a rueful nod. “Yep.”
Rarity pushed herself away from her design desk, her cheeks burning with shame. “Twilight, I am so sorry! I can’t believe I let myself forget that you were cooking for us tonight!” She marched forward and nuzzled into the taller mare’s chest. “My friends deserve better than that, let alone my wife.” As she stepped back, her own eyes were sparkling with tears of their own. “Can you possibly forgive me, my darling?”
Twilight couldn’t quite hold in the snort. At least that was typical Rarity behavior. “Of course I forgive you.” She emphasized the point with a nuzzle of her own, and added a kiss on the cheek for good measure.
Her wife beamed back at her, eyes now full of apologetic gratitude. “Thank you, Twilight. Now let us be off.” She through a disdainful look back at her work desk before starting toward the door. “The autumn line can wait until next autumn, if it has to. For now, I can’t wait to try your salad!”
Twilight felt the brief smile beginning to fade. No. Now more than ever, she felt the need to get to the bottom of things.
“Actually, Rarity, maybe dinner could wait for a bit, too. I was hoping you and I could talk.”
The unicorn turned, much of her earlier concern resurfacing, but nodded. “Of course, darling.” Her horn lit, and a pair of plus sized cushions levitated from behind a row of ponyquins. She gestured for Twilight to take a seat before following suite and asking, “What about?”
Twilight frowned uncomfortably before gesturing with a hoof. “You. . .Us. . . How I feel like things have been between us lately.”
Rarity swallowed almost imperceptibly, but nodded her encouragement. “Of course,” she said again, “though could you be a bit more specific?”
Twilight bit her lip, sighed, and replied, “I feel like you haven’t been. . . well, you, lately. You feel distant, and I don’t understand why. I feel like there’s something between us that I don’t know about. I know we haven’t had much time to ourselves for awhile, but that happens plenty, and I’ve never felt this gap between us. For example,” she continued, seeing Rarity’s question coming before she voiced it, “just now, the way you said you wouldn’t make it to dinner. That hurt, and not just because I made it, or because we’d made a date, but because you just. . . didn’t seem to care that much. You usually at least look at me, maybe give me a nuzzle and an apology, and I know not everypony gets that, and I’m lucky that I do, but now I. . . I guess I’m used to that, and when it stops happening, I wonder why.”
Twilight paused, shaking her head as a bitter smile made its way onto her muzzle. “It sounds almost petty when I say it out loud, but it’s how I feel. Am I making a mountain out of a molehill, or is something different, and if there is, why?” Her eyes looked into Rarity’s, searching desperately, before she plaintively murmured, “Did I do something wrong?”
“No!” Rarity exclaimed, reaching a hoof forward to curl it around Twilight’s. That hard, cold anger that Twilight had so feared was on Rarity’s face, but not directed at her. “Absolutely not, Twilight. You’ve done nothing wrong, nothing at all.” She tightened her grip, and two hot tears of shame spilled from her eyes. “Something’s changed, but it’s been within me. I thought I’d been handling it well enough, but if I’ve led you to feel this way then I’ve been nothing short of neglectful. That’s not what you deserve.” She meaningfully tapped the ring at the base of her horn. “That’s not what I promised, and I’m so, so sorry that I let you feel as though you’d done something wrong.”
The unicorn rose and pressed herself into a fierce hug. “You’re perfect, Twilight. You’re as good a friend and as good a lover as a lady could ever wish for.”
Relief, warm and incandescent, coursed through Twilight at Rarity’s impassioned words, and she returned the hug forcefully, feeling her own cheeks grow wet as she held her lover and was held in turn.
For several moments, the two simply remained in each others embrace. It was a common end for their more serious conversations, an affirmation of being there that went deeper than any words could hope to.
Of course, Twilight hadn’t quite finished with words.
Pulling away, the princess placed a lingering kiss on her wife’s lips before asking, “So what’s changed, then?”
Rarity looked up at her before turning her eyes downward. “I’m not really sure when to begin.”
Twilight gently reached a hoof under Rarity’s chin and brought her gaze back up. “Wherever’s most comfortable, honey.”
The unicorn snorted. “If any of it were comfortable, I wouldn’t have kept it to myself for so long, darling. Still, you’re right. I suppose the best place to start, then, is with what we both know.”
Taking a deep breath, Rarity began. “I know we haven’t discussed it much, but over the last couple years, things have started to feel a bit. . . familiar, between the sheets. That’s nothing against you, dear,” she quickly added, giving Twilight a sassy smile. “You get lovelier every single year, and you even manage to find my growing wrinkles endearing. I couldn’t fault you there if I wanted to, and I don’t.” Her troubled expression returned. “It’s just that. . . we’ve tried so many things, and I sometimes wonder whether we tried too much too soon. It’s still fun,” she reassured, patting Twilight’s hoof. “It’s just. . . familiar.”
Twilight frowned as she nodded. Rarity wasn’t wrong. It was a conversation they’d had once or twice, and one for which Twilight tended to blame herself. She’d barely kissed another pony before getting involved with Rarity, and once the unicorn had introduced her to the wiles of the bedroom, her boundless curiosity had taken over. Theirs had been an. . . adventurous love life, and though both of them had found plenty of favorites along the way, there wasn’t much that interested them that they hadn’t already tried.
“Alright,” Twilight murmured, nodding for her to continue. “That’s fair. So what’s changed?”
Rarity inhaled deeply before heaving a sigh. “Last month, while I was visiting the , I happened to run into Coco Pommel. She insisted that, before I leave, I join her for a small expose that a few of the local boutiques were putting on. Naturally, I accepted. It was a charming enough affair, even if it lacked some of the gravitas of my usual engagements.”
“One of the ponies there was representing boutique with a more, shall we say, exotic bent. The pieces themselves were fine, and there was one that took inspiration from Neighponese Shibari that was actually quite lovely, but what intrigued me far more was the theme, which was centered around Nightmare Night. Trick or Treat. For each ensemble of lace and sheer silk, a counterpiece of straps and blinders which frankly pushed the boundaries of what most ponies would consider normal.”
A slight smile of remembrance graced the unicorn’s face as she went on. “I was lucky enough to speak with Lace Lock, the mare who designed the Trick or Treat line. She’s had a fascinating career, though I won’t derail this by going into it. I will say, however, that her thoughts that inspired the line were, well, inspiring. She spoke of how she loved both the element of chance and the dichotomy of trick and treat, but believed that the trick was something too often forgotten between lovers. In her view, while we so often seek out the treats we savor, a well executed trick could be just as rewarding, as it can help one come to know themselves, and thought that there was no better place to explore that than between lovers to give affirmation and comfort. I won’t pretend that I agreed with everything she said, but she certainly offered a unique perspective.”
Rarity’s grin disappeared as her eyes grew cloudy and troubled. “That night, while waiting for sleep to find me, I simply let my mind wander. As always, I thought of you, I thought of how wonderful it would be when I returned, I thought a bit about the cooling of our love life, and I thought about what Lace Lock had said.” She refocused on Twilight, raising an eyebrow. “You can probably guess what happened next. I had an epiphany. A voila moment. Her Trick or Treat philosophy was certainly something new. Why not bring it into our bedroom?”
The unicorn seemed to shrink as she sighed again. “It was inspiring, Twilight. Tremendously so. The more I thought about it, though. . . some of the things that came from that inspiration were things I didn’t want, or at least I didn’t think I wanted. Having reflected, now I see that they’re things I don’t, well. . . want to want. Seen from the fresh perspective that Miss Lace gave me, though. . . I do want them.”
She shook her head, her eyes now swimming with guilt. “I couldn’t bring myself to admit how I was feeling, and so. . . I did something we promised we wouldn’t do: I kept it all secret. I buried it all as deep as I could and threw myself into my next project. I’d hoped that perhaps I could release some of my ideas by channeling them into my work, but it hasn’t helped. If anything, I’ve only got more, and they’ve become so distracting that I didn’t even notice that a wedge was being driven between us.”
Rarity looked into her wife’s eyes, pained and leaking fresh tears. “I’m sorry, Twilight. I’m sorry for letting this get to me so much that I started to neglect you. I’m sorry that I wasn’t open with you from the beginning. I’m sorry that I broke our promise. I’m sorry, and I hope that you can forgive me.”
Twilight’s heart roiled. Certainly there was anger, disappointment, and even a slight sense of betrayal, along with sympathy and warmth for her lover’s plight. Above all, however, was confusion. “I don’t understand,” she murmured. “What was so terrible that you couldn’t talk to me about it? I mean,” her cheeks reddened, “I told you how I feel about my brother. Compared to that, can whatever it is you want really be that bad?”
Rarity looked away, shaking her head. “I don’t know, Twilight. I personally don’t think that lusting after a stallion as desirable as Shining Armor is bad, family or not, and the fact that you haven’t tried anything because of the potential consequences only elevates you.” She sighed. “You’re also, well. . . frankly, you’re far more honest than I am, especially with yourself. The image that I project isn’t fake, and it’s both important and enjoyable in my line of work, but, er. . . it does, at times, make it harder to accept normal wrinkles of life as I notice them.”
Twilight smiled at the compliment, scooting herself forward so that she could give the unicorn a nuzzle. “Thank you, Rarity. Knowing that you see me that way, and accept me so fully, feels wonderful. I think you forgot, though, that I accept you fully, too.” She moved in closer to hold the smaller mare. “I always have, all the way back to that night in the Everfree.” She giggled a bit as she added, “Plus, I did marry you. I’m pretty sure one of the rules is that we have to accept each other in our weider moments.”
She pulled away, still smiling gently, and said, “So, with that in mind, I’d really like to hear some of the things you’ve been wanting. I won’t force the issue, but I do think it would be better for both of us, and I admit I’m actually really curious. You’re not wrong about our sex life, and who knows? Maybe this will be just the thing to spice it up?”
Rarity gave an unconvinced shrug. “I suppose it might, and either way I owe you the truth.” She took a deep breath. “What I want is. . . risk. Chance. Not danger, er. . . well, real danger, but something close. I have many,” she blushed, “many ideas, even a few elaborate fantasies, but all of them come back to that coin flip. Trick, or Treat, where Trick may actually be something frightening.”
Twilight nodded, absolutely refusing to let the snort in her chest rise any further. Even if she couldn’t quite understand why this had gotten so far under Rarity’s skin, the fact that it had was enough. “Okay,” she reassured. “I’m with you so far. Can you give me any specific ideas?”
Rarity gulped. “Er, well, there’s one that’s really captured my imagination, or rather, one theme. A Trick involving. . . power. I know we’ve dabbled in power play before, but this. . . the power is real. The ability to enforce commands is real. Or, at the least, it appears to be.”
“Alright,” Twilight said, her eyebrows coming together. “Can you tell me more?”
“I could, but it would spoil the element of uncertainty, which is one of the things that draws me to these ideas the most.” The unicorn gave her a half-hearted grin. “Trick or Treat?”
Twilight hummed. “I guess I can live with that.” Her smile returned. “I don’t want this to be something that keeps haunting you, honey, so if you really want to try it, I’m willing to try it too.”
“Are you absolutely certain, Twilight?” Rarity replied, still looking uncertain. “The things I want. . . if you got Trick, it could be scary. Genuinely. As much as my ideas arouse me, and they do, I don’t want to fulfill them at the cost of doing you harm.”
Twilight’s smile grew. “I’m absolutely certain that I’m willing to try it. If it’s too much, at least we’ll know, and we won’t do it again. Who knows? I might get Treat, anyway.” She waggled her eyebrows playfully. “I’m sure you have lots of ideas for Treat too, don’t you?”
Rarity stared at her for a moment before breaking into a giggle. “Oh, such ideas, darling. And perhaps you’ll get to enjoy them.” Her grin became more serious as she moved in to hug her princess. “Thank you, Twilight. Thank you for trusting me, even now, and thank you for being so accepting, even with reason not to.” She gave the alicorn a peck on the neck. “I really did get the best Princess. Thank goodness Blueblood was such a buffoon.”
Twilight couldn’t help but laugh at that. “I don’t know about the best, but I’m definitely the luckiest.” She answered Rarity’s peck with a kiss on the forehead. “There is one thing I’m still curious about, and I hope it doesn’t spoil one of the surprises you wanted, but say you do get one of your Trick fantasies. How are you going to make that power feel real? No offense, but at this point I’m probably stronger than you in every way except for color coordination.”
Rarity’s laughed nervously, blushing down to her neck as she said, “Er, well, I’ve thought of that, and that’s actually one of the first things I needed to discuss with you.” Her horn lit, and one of her bottom desk drawers opened to reveal a book, which made its way over to the alicorn. As she read the cover, her eyebrows nearly climbed into her mane.
“Erotic Entrancement: How Hypnosis can Light Up your Sex Life.” She lowered the book, cocking her head incredulously. “Really?”
“I know, I know,” stammered Rarity, “it sounds absurd. However, Starlight said you made an excellent subject when she tried it on you, and if that’s the case, hypnosis might be the perfect way to bring a fantasy to life. Even if it doesn’t work, this is certainly something new, and there’s more in that book than making role playing more believable.” She put on her sweetest smile and added, “I promise that Pinkie Pie wouldn’t interrupt us.”
That managed to get a snort out of Twilight. “And exactly how would you do that?”
Rarity grinned faux slyly. “I have my ways.” Her smile mellowed as she added, “Hypnosis seemed like the easiest and safest way to make it happen, Twilight, but if you’re uncomfortable with it, we can figure out something else. Having said that, it’s not something that would happen overnight. There would probably need to be many sessions, and I wouldn’t dream of doing this at any pace but your own. In fact, with what I’m hoping to do, it might well take us until Nightmare Night to make it work.” She put a hoof to her chin briefly. “Hm. . . I actually rather adore that idea. . .”
“Sooo. . . we could ease into it?”
Rarity nodded. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Twilight fidgeted slightly. “I’m not against it, exactly. It just left a bad taste in my mouth after what happened last time.”
Rarity’s gentle grin melted into that expression that, even after nine years, made Twilight’s knees weak. “Judging by experience, going under for me will leave a much more pleasant taste in your mouth. . . and on your lips, and muzzle, and perhaps even your hooves and wings.”
Twilight’s own grin was a bit more flustered. “Er, maybe. . .”
Rarity giggled at her wife’s state and swooped in to steal a quick kiss. “How about this, Twilight. Unless there’s more you’d like to talk about, let’s go and enjoy that dinner you so kindly prepared for us. After that, if you’re willing, we can try out hypnosis, and if you enjoy it,” her eyes burned with sultry promises, “I’ll make you a very special dessert. Would that be alright, darling?”
A feeling of pleasant jitters began to make its way down the alicorn’s spine as she nodded. “I, um. . . I think I’d be okay with that.”
“Then let us go,” said Rarity, rising to her hooves and opening the door with a flash of her horn. “We’ve a delicious sounding salad awaiting us!” As her lover joined her, she added, “And Twilight?”
“Yes, Rarity?”
“Thank you.” She stepped over and pressed her side into the larger mare’s. “Thank you for bringing this to the surface. Thank you for being so patient, gentle, and accepting with me. Thank you for being you.” She beamed upward, looking as though a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. “I love you.”
“And I love you,” Twilight answered, extending a wing and draping it over the unicorn’s shoulder, “with all my heart and soul.”
Rarity nuzzled into the embrace, enjoying the closeness and warmth that followed a serious talk. It was a different kind of afterglow, but an afterglow nonetheless.
“Come, darling. Your salad shouldn’t wait any longer. Let’s eat!”

Twilight lay on her bed, feeling comfortably full. Dinner had been, in a word, perfect. She’d impressed both of them with her salad, and with the issue of Rarity’s uncertainties behind them, they’d talked through the entire affair. Rarity had prattled on about her newest line and the latest gossip in her friendly rivalry with Kerfuffle, and she prattled on about her latest journey to Fleece and the play she’d seen about the tragedy of Baachilles. It was as if the gap had never been there at all, and Twilight was still feeling warm and fuzzy. So warm and fuzzy, in fact, that the sight of Rarity looking at her expectantly, levitating a rather unique crystal by her side, didn’t make her as nervous as she thought she’d be. “You’re sure about this, Twilight? This is the best way, but if you have any second thoughts, I’ll find another.”
“I’m sure,” she encouraged, giving her wife a reassuring smile. “I trust you. Go ahead.”
Rarity nodded, taking a centering breath. “Alright. Go ahead and take a nice, deep breath in for me, Twilight,” she paused to let Twilight do so, “and look at this crystal.”
The jewel in her arcane grip drifted forward, coming to a halt just slightly above eye level. It was a curious thing, looking almost like some marriage of sea urchin and snowflake. She couldn’t tell if it’s blue color was due to Rarity’s magic or not, but as it began to spin, she had to admit, it certainly caught the light in fascinating ways.
“Just relax, Twilight. Let your eyes focus on the crystal as it spins. See how it glints. See how it catches the light. Breathe in nice and deep now, nice and deep. Hold it for just a moment to let yourself focus on the crystal, and then let it out, letting any tension in your body out with it. Just relaxing, and breathing, and focusing, Twilight. Focusing on the crystal, and my voice. You needn’t care about anything else. Not right now.”
Within only a few breaths, any remaining trepidation in Twilight had faded away. She was simply too warm and too relaxed to be worried, and the crystal was just. . . fascinating. She was sure it must have circled several times by that point, but each glint still surprised her with its position. It paired wonderfully with Rarity’s beautiful, soothingly sweet voice.
“And now, Twilight, I’d like you to focus on your hooves. Let yourself be aware of how your hooves feel. With this next breath in, you’ll find that a wonderful, heavy warmth begins seeping into your hooves, driving out any remaining tension before it.”
Twilight giggled sleepily as she inhaled. Her hooves almost tickled just before turning into cozily warm lead. It was a new sensation, but a very pleasant one.
“And now, as you breath it out, feel your entire body relax deeper as that last tension in your hooves is driven leaves on your breath.”
Twilight hummed, feeling herself sink pleasantly into the bed as she exhaled. She was sure she’d been worried at some point, but couldn’t remember why. It probably didn’t matter anyway, though. She felt too nice.
“And again, breathing in, feeling that warm weight rising up, up, until it’s reached your knees.”
Bit by bit, breath by breath, Rarity’s voice drove any and all tension out of Twilight’s body. Every muscle felt like a wonderfully sun-kissed stone. The only muscle’s still working were the ones around her lungs, her neck to keep her head tilted up, and her eyelids, trying desperately to stay open, lest she lose sight of the crystal. She couldn’t look away from the crystal. She. . . couldn’t.
“And now, Twilight, you feel yourself teetering on the edge. There’s only one place left for that pesky tension, and that’s your mind. As you breathe in, feel that heaviness rise into your head, leaving nothing but wonderful, comfortable warmth,-”
Profound relaxation flooded her, her eyes reduced to slits-
“-and now, as you breath out, feel yourself sinking into safe, welcoming nothingness-”
-and she was sinking, and floating, and falling all at once-
“-as you sleep .”
-and her eyes closed, and there was no more Twilight. Just blissful, warm darkness and the sound of Rarity’s voice.

Rarity looked at Twilight with a sense of surprise. Starlight hadn’t been kidding. She was incredibly susceptible to hypnosis, to the point that when Rarity had first noticed the signs of trance, she’d assumed it must just be her inexperience, because it had happened too fast. It was almost disappointing how easily she’d gone under.
I should probably do something about that. . . she noted mentally. Later. That was something that would require more forethought, and at the moment she had other things in mind. “Twilight, can you hear me?”
There was a brief pause before the alicorn nodded sluggishly.
Rarity shuddered, exhaling sharply from both a tingle up her spine and a warmth in her loins. This was really happening. She’d gotten Twilight into a trance, Twilight had agreed to give her fantasies a try, and she had nearly two months to make sure that they were absolutely perfect. The concept seemed so enormous that she wasn’t really sure what to do.
Unbidden, Twilight’s earlier words came to her. “A bad taste in my mouth,” she muttered, before smirking. She’d have to remedy that first experience. After all, she had more than enough time to make her fantasies happen, and she owed Twilight a reward for all the patience she’d given her.
“Very good, Twilight. Now, I’d like you to take a moment to focus on how you feel. Really allow yourself to absorb how you're feeling, now that you’ve been hypnotized. Would you please describe it to me, darling?”
Twilight hummed quietly. “Warm. . . relaxed. . . heavy and comfy. . . safe. . .”
“Good, Twilight. Enjoy those sensations. This is what being in a trance should feel like, and you’re doing wonderfully.”
Twilight smiled slightly, which Rarity encouraged by running a hoof down her neck. She supposed that she really ought to bring Twilight deeper, but the thrill of the situation spurred her onward. “As I speak, Twilight, you may find yourself growing aroused. Twilight shifted slightly, replying with a breathy, “Yes.”
Rarity answered her with a sultry hum. “Oh, my dear Twilight, we’ve so much to do.” She climbed onto the bed, lying against her wife’s side and beginning to plant kisses along her neck, just the way Twilight liked it. “We have whole new worlds to create and explore, new fantasies to craft and perfect, and all new pleasures to indulge in. For tonight, though, we’re going to focus on some very special words, words that will make you feel so, so good. Doesn’t that sound lovely, Twilight?”
The alicorn had begun to breath harder, and little tremors had begun running along her frame. “Y-Yes.”
“Good girl, Twilight.” Her kissed reached the base of her lover’s ear, where she gave a gentle nibble and earned a gasp for her efforts. “The first word we’re going to focus on tonight is-” she ran her tongue up the ear, taking a moment to savor the quiet moan that followed.

Twilight giggled madly as the group of foals before her turned around, only to be confronted by none other than Nightmare Moon.
“What’s this?!” she shouted, her fangs bared in a maniacal grin. “Look at you! So many delicious morsels, so little time!” She spread her wings and cackled wickedly as the colts and fillies shrieked, cantering past her in a panic, even as a few screams were broken by laughter.
The dark queen turned to watch them as they went, wings still swept wide, and shouted, “Run if you wish, but you’ll never escape me forever!”
Bringing a hoof to her mouth, Twilight attempted to stifle her laughter. “I don’t know, Nightmare Moon. I think all that candy you’ve been eating is slowing you down.”
“That truly never gets old for you, does it?” grumbled the dark queen, turning to reveal a deadpan that was nothing short of spectacular.
Twilight shook her head. “Nope.”
Moon smiled wryly before shrugging. “Fair enough. I suppose this never gets old for me.” A blinding light ensconced the imposing alicorn, fading after a few seconds to reveal ex-princess Luna. “Was that the last group?”
Twilight nodded. “Yes. Everypony should be gathered in the palace square. The Nightmare Night Ceremony is ready for you to conclude whenever you’re ready.”
“Whenever I’m ready, is it?” replied Luna, raising a playful eyebrow. “In that case, I believe I’ll carry on until it’s time to raise the sun.” Before Twilight could respond, she raised a hoof, smirking. “But of course, I wouldn’t wish to disrupt any plans that you and your wife may or may not have.”
Twilight’s eyes widened as her cheeks ignited crimson. “We, um. . . You know about that, huh?” She forced a grin through the embarrassment. “I’m guessing my dreams must have shown you some things. . .”
“One might say that,” she declared slyly. “Dear Rarity reached out to me some time back and requested that I prevent you from remembering any dreams that might be tied to her plans for this evening. She was quite dedicated to ensuring that the surprise remained a surprise.”
The lunar alicorn bit her lip playfully. “I admit that I may have enjoyed a few, but ultimately chose to respect your privacy as a couple, and so only have broad ideas of what you may be in store for. Either way,” she bowed slightly to the princess, “it would ill become me to keep either of you waiting. I’d best see to the ceremony’s end.”
Still flustered, Twilight returned the bow. “I-I suppose so. Er, happy Nightmare Night, Luna. As always, thank you for coming here and lending your particular brand of fun to the celebration!”
“And happy Nightmare Night to you, Twilight,” she responded, spreading her wings wide. “Thank you for allowing me to participate. It never ceases to be fun delighting and frightening others.” With that, she rose into the air and banked toward the castle courtyard. “Fare thee well, Princess Twilight! Enjoy your night! Sister and I will see you two weeks hence for our usual tea time!”
“Goodbye, Luna!” she shouted after her. “I’ll see you then!” She watched the former ruler disappear behind a turret before turning back toward the palace’s main door. Butterflies began to gather in her stomach as she lit her horn and pulled it open. It was beginning to sink in that, finally, after almost two months of wondering, she’d finally find out what Rarity had in store for her.
For the most part, she was excited that she’d finally learn the secret. She knew that, in the beginning, she could usually remember at least some details of what happened when Rarity had guided her into trance, but it hadn’t taken more than a couple weeks before even those vague impressions faded. She only knew for sure that, whenever she woke up, she felt wonderful, and more often than not, very wet and deeply satisfied.
There were, however, a few niggling slivers of doubt. Now that it loomed before her, Rarity’s warnings about what the Trick could entail seemed a lot more serious. Additionally, the gaps in her memory from each session, while expected, were also disconcerting, and more than once she’d wondered why she wasn’t more curious about her hypnotic escapades. She’d speculated a few times, but each time had found herself suddenly distracted, and hadn’t noticed that her mind had moved on until later. It was always possible that Rarity had given her a suggestion not to think about it, but such a command seemed excessive, even for the perfectionistic unicorn.
Her thoughts carried her into the castle and along the route to her chambers, each step sending another jitter of anticipation down her spine. In what felt like no time at all, she stood outside her chamber doors. She took a deep breath, hoping to calm both the tension in her legs and the heat in her nethers, and lit her horn, pushing the doors open.
“Wow.”
Twilight hadn’t expected much that didn’t come from her hypno-enhanced imagination, but her wife really had gone the extra mile to make the whole thing intimate. There were rose-petals everywhere, and the entire room basked in the warm light of dozens of candles. The scents of jasmine and sandalwood colored the air, along with a subtle, musty hint of old books.
For a moment, any worries Twilight felt were forgotten, replaced with warmth and gratitude for the mare who so loved her as to make the scene before her happen. If she’d worked so hard just to set the right mood, then surely she’d put even more effort into making her fantasies just as wonderful.
An especially dense layer of roses formed a path leading into the hallway. Twilight followed the trailer of fallen petals, beaming through the shivers that were beginning to tiptoe along her limbs, until she arrived in the bedroom.
Rarity lay waiting for her, stretched languidly across satin sheets. Her expression was one of some divine seductress, a mare who could tempt gods with her sensual charms and knew it. Twilight felt her heart melt and her loins burn as she stared into those eyes, and her anticipation skyrocketed as Rarity pat the bed beside her and purred, “What are you waiting for, Twilight? Join me.”
Twilight did as requested, taking in the room as she went. It had received similar treatment to the rest of her chambers, along with the addition of a few black ribbons and streamers overhead that both felt appropriate to the holiday and contrasted with the red. “Wow, Rarity,” she said as she climbed onto the bed and laid down beside her wife. “This all looks amazing.” She pressed down into a long kiss, which Rarity punctuated with a hoof on her cheek. “You didn’t have to do all this, though. I mean, won’t I mostly be living in a fantasy anyway?”
“Oh, it’s nothing,” replied the unicorn modestly. “The work for our fantasy was already done, and it’s hardly fair to you, since you don’t remember any of it. I wanted to make sure you knew that, although I was the one who wanted this, I care about you too.”
Twilight hummed in amusement before going in for another kiss. Rarity met her diagonally this time, placing a hoof on the alicorn’s jaw to encourage her forward. As the kiss deepened, Twilight felt a warm, familiar tongue against her lips, gently asking for entry. She granted it with a breathy moan.
Some meaningless measure of time passed before the two came up for air. “I never forgot you cared, Rarity,” panted the princess. “You’d never let something like that happen. Still, it’s always wonderful to see what you can do when you give it your all.” She kissed the base of her wife’s horn. “You really are amazing, honey.”
Rarity smiled graciously. “What can I say? I have a good reason to strive for amazing.” She raised a hoof as Twilight moved in for another kiss. “Before we go any further, darling, I’d like to share a more traditional treat with you.” Her horn lit, and a silver tray with two small ovals of what looked like chocolate made their way to the bed. She gave Twilight a rather smokey look as she lifted one of the candies to her lips, took it between her teeth, and raised an eyebrow in invitation.
Twilight needed no further asking, leaning down and pressing into the deepest kiss yet. The orb seemed to melt on contact, adding a bittersweet flavor and creamy accent to the pleasure of a passionate kiss. It was a moment of blissful decadence, of dancing tongues and the taste of rich chocolate blending with the more familiar flavor of her wife’s mouth.
Twilight was panting heavily by the time they separated, though Rarity seemed surprisingly composed. “Happy Nightmare Night, my love.”
The princess hummed happily as she nuzzled into the smaller mare, trying to make as much contact as physically possible. “Happy Nightmare Night.”
Rarity pressed in for a moment, favoring Twilight with a kiss on the shoulder before leaning away and twisting herself off of the bed. “Now,” she said, turning to face Twilight and looking toward the tray meaningfully. The alicorn looked down and noticed that, in the spot where the first chocolate had been, sat two small paper cards, each marked with the symbol of Nightmare Moon. “Are you ready, darling?” Her breath hitched on the last syllable. It seemed even her composure was starting to crack.
For all of her earlier trepidation, somehow Twilight did feel ready. She was still aflutter from the kisses and anticipation, but it almost felt as if she were about to exercised and had somehow stretched instantly. She nodded. “If you are.”
Rarity smiled a smile that Twilight wasn’t sure she’d ever really seen before. Certainly the unicorn could look wantonly hungry when she wanted to, but the grin gleaming on her wife’s face felt almost. . . predatory. “Then it’s time to cast the die, Twilight. Trick, or Treat?”
This was the moment. Two months of buildup, of missing memories and hypnotic suggestions had all led up to this. Twilight’s entire body tingled with nerves and arousal, and her hoof was trembling as she tentatively reached down and tapped card on her right.
Rarity panted as her horn glowed, lifting the card up toward her eyes. She stared at the paper for a brief moment before her grin went from predatory to something almost feral. She looked up at her wife as though sizing up a meal and flipped the card over, her voice and the ornate writing registering in Twilight’s mind at the same instant.
“Trick!”
All at once, the world around Twilight began to shift. Everything in sight seemed to expand or contort. Most of the candles went out, and those that didn’t suddenly blazed with a blindingly bright shade of blue. The greatest change by far, however, was Rarity herself.
The unicorn immediately began to grow, her limbs becoming limber and supple as she sprouted up taller than Twilight. Her mane billowed forth like a living thing, expanding and darkening as it began to flow in the still air. She shadows seemed to rise around her, weaving themselves across her coat like strands of umbral silk. By far the worst, though was her eyes. The warmth in them gave way to a cold that demanded obedience even as if promised untold pleasures, emanating from diamond edged, catlike pupils.
The Nightmare of Rarity’s past stared down at the shocked alicorn, her grin lazy and utterly confident. “Hello, Twilight,” she purred, her voice a sultry mockery of the original. “It’s been some time, hasn’t it?” She nodded to the alicorn’s royal finery, sat in its usual spot in the corner. “You’ve moved up in the world since the last time we spoke.” She let out a rich, musical chuckle. “That’s good. You’ll be that much more useful as the ruler of Equestria.”
Twilight’s horn blazed to life, and a dome of purple sprung up around the intruder. “What is this?!” she bellowed, springing to her hooves. “We drove you out! We helped Rarity beat you! How’d you come back?!”
The Nightmare openly laughed. “Come now, Twilight, surely a mare of your brilliance knows better than that. Our friends’ love helped Rarity grow stronger than her doubts, but those doubts didn’t simply disappear, and neither did I. All I needed was for her faith in herself to be shaken again, and the feelings inspired by this little “trick or treat” experiment did nicely.” She raised a hoof grandly. “It’s a whole new me, more powerful and beautiful than ever!”
Twilight’s horn crackled, and the entire room shook as she stomped down. “That’s enough! Let her go, now! ”
Rarity tsked. “Temper, temper, Twilight. You really should work on that aggression. You wouldn’t want it clouding your head.”
Twilight’s eyes went saucer wide and she began to shake her head as an undefinable fuzzy feeling invaded her mind. Her barrier flickered and faded away, and a sputtering horn was her only reward for trying to manifest another, at least until the mental buzz destroyed her focus again.
“You. . .” she stammered, unable to so much as form a coherent sentence, “what’s. . . did. . .”
Even the Nightmare’s sympathy was haughty as she stepped forward, still half grinning. “Sorry, darling, but I’d rather not fight you. Neither of us would be happy if you managed to injure this body, and I prefer not to break my toys.” She smirked. “Break them in, on the other hoof. . .”
“What’s. . . Rarity. . . where?!”
The lithe unicorn rolled her eyes. “Ugh. That halting speech simply won’t do,” she huffed before leaning down and pressing her horn against Twilight’s. There was a spark, and an odd heaviness settled into her head. “There,” she said with an approving smirk. “Now we can talk with clear heads.”
The buzzing faded, and Twilight immediately reached for her magic. Panic jolted down her spine when it proved to slippery to grasp and shape, but not surprise. Without her magic, she had no idea how she’d get out of this. “Let Rarity go!” she demanded. “Take me instead!”
The Nightmare actually seemed a bit taken aback by her offer. She looked away, her features tight, and cleared her throat a few times. When she turned back, her grin was a bit shaky. “That’s a very sweet offer, princess. It means a great deal to her. However, I’m afraid I’ll have to decline it on the grounds that you’re already mine.”
There was a dry click as Twilight swallowed, a terrible suspicion blooming in her mind. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Rarity raised an incredulous eyebrow. “I think you know the answer to that question, Twilight. You just don’t want to say it because it frightens you.
The princess shook her head rapidly. “But hypnosis doesn’t work like that!”
“Normally that’s true,” replied Nightmare matter of factly. “However, I’ve had nearly two months to mold you, darling. That’s hardly a normal amount of hypnosis.” Her eyes went to the ceiling and a mischievous hoof rose to her chin. “I may have also added a little of my own magic to the process.” She winked. “It just wouldn’t be me without that personal touch.”
Twilight began to hyperventilate. She couldn’t help it. She was potentially enslaved to a Nightmare that had possessed her wife. There had to be a solution, but she couldn’t see one. “I. . . we need. . . the Elements. . .but they won’t work on you!”
Rarity’s demeanor changed in an instant. Her expression cooled, and her horn lit, summoning a very familiar gem from somewhere. “Calm, Twilight,” she said, her voice low and soothing at the crystal began to sway before the alicorn’s eyes. “Calm, relaxed, peaceful. . .”
The reaction was automatic; Twilight’s body immediately sagged in relaxation. Her eyes glazed over as they locked on to the crystal, and though she fought it, she couldn’t stop a wave a calm from sweeping over her, gently pushing away her hysteria. Wide as the disconnect was between the situation and her new tranquility, she couldn’t deny that she felt better.
“I know this is a frightening situation, darling,” Rarity continued, bringing the crystal to a gently spinning stop, “but it doesn’t need to be. You can keep fighting me if you really want to, but you’ve already lost, and I promise, there’s such pleasure in store. . . if you surrender.”
A spark of defiance lit itself in the ether of Twilight’s relaxation. “No. . . You have Rarity. . . I’ll never surrender to you.”
The Nightmare chuckled under her breath. “Oh, silly Twilight, I’m helping Rarity. It benefits me, of course, but she never would have accepted her desires at all if I hadn’t pushed her. Thanks to me, she’s finally surrendered to what she truly wants.” She leaned in, her warm breath tickling Twilight’s ear before she planted a kiss just behind it, right in the spot that the alicorn loved the most. “Why not surrender with her?”
Twilight clenched her teeth, trying to push against the weight of the calm. “No. . . I won’t. Not to you.”
Rarity hummed in amusement. “Yes you will, darling. I was just hoping to make it easier, but,” she shrugged, “c’est la vie.” Her horn flickered, and the crystal zoomed off somewhere. “Now, if you’d be a good little ponyquin for me, we can get started.”
The alicorn’s eyes narrowed as an oddly comfortable numbness crept into her body. She attempted to shake her limbs out, only to find that the weren’t obeying her. Her earlier sense of panic returned quickly as she tried in vain to make her body move, the sole exception being her eyes and mouth. “What’s going on now?!”
Her captor giggled. “Oh, a little post-hypnotic suggestion I left you with. It’s just one of many, but this was one of Rarity’s favorites.” Her horn glimmered, and Twilight felt one of her wings stretching out, her muscles yielding easily to the magical touch. “She’s spent hours posing you, playing with your frozen body. She loves it. I do wish she’d let you remember it at least a few times, though,” she added as she began to walk around the frozen alicorn, seemingly admiring her. “You were always so wet by the time she was done.”
Twilight gasped as a sudden, powerful spike of pleasure lanced through her, making her entire body heat up in an instant.
“Of course, she’d end up rather wet herself by the time she was done. Toying with you like this drives her simply wild. Whenever she plays this particular game, messes follow. The floor gets wet, the pillows get wet, and oh, how the sheets get wet.”
The alicorn yelped at each use of the word, each rush of pleasure more powerful than the last. She wanted to hate what was happening. It was entirely, heinously wrong, and yet somehow it didn’t disturb her. Each surge of bliss seemed strangely familiar, and though it shouldn’t, that familiarity eased away what should have felt like a violation.
Her embarrassment as she felt a droplet of arousal began its way down her leg was still just as keen, though, especially when Nightmare’s nostrils flared and her grin widened. “See? Doesn’t that feel wonderful?” She tilted her head meaningfully. “What you’re feeling now is just a sample of the pleasure I can give you.” She walked out of sight, and soon after Twilight gasped as a hoof settled on her tingling mound. It was familiar in all the right ways. “Are you sure you don’t want to surrender?”
The word ‘surrender’ snapped Twilight back to her senses. What was she thinking? She couldn’t possibly be enjoying this. . . could she?
“No!” she shouted defiantly. “I won’t surrender anything to you!”
Nightmare chuckled richly from behind her, and Twilight whimpered as the hoof began to move in a slow, delicious circle. “Hmmm. . . I’m not convinced, Twilight. What’s more,” she began planting slow, sensual kisses along the alicorn’s rear, “I don’t think you’re convinced, either.”
Twilight bit back a moan as the hoof grazed her clit. She wasn’t sure if it was her inability to move or more hypnotic trickery at play, but she felt far more sensitive than usual. Her wife was no novice with her hooves, but she’d never made her knees weak with nothing but a little rub. She clenched her jaw. “Then you don’t know me.”
Nightmare snorted. “Of course I know you, darling. I know everything about you.” Magic chimed, and Twilight’s felt her body yield as her head was pushed down, her back arched, and her hind legs were pushed apart. “For example, I know this is the position you take when you fantasize about your brother.” Twilight’s cheeks burned red hot, but the unicorn continued. “I also know why, and I think it’s a pity.”
In spite of the situation, confusion managed to break through the chaotic tapestry of Twilight’s other emotions. “W-What? What does that-”
“Even in a fantasy, you don’t like to face him,” interrupted the unicorn, as she re-entered Twilight’s field of vision. “Even when it isn’t real, you can’t look at him, because that would make it too real, and you’re afraid of what you’d see.”
“What’s. . . What does that have to do with anything? Why even bring that up?!”
Rarity stooped down, bringing her face to Twilight’s level. She looked. . . troubled? “It’s just one more thing I think you should surrender to. Nothing’s wrong with a fantasy. You’re right, though. Forget I said it.”
Twilight blinked rapidly, her brow furrowing. Had Nightmare said something? She wasn’t sure. She screwed her eyes shut. This was no time to lose focus.
“Do you really have to leave me in this humiliating position?” she hissed.
Nightmare smirked as her eyes flickered upward. “And stop admiring those fabulous flanks of yours, darling? Or your perfectly presented, wonderfully wet marehood?” As Twilight groaned and shuddered, she let out a false sigh. “I suppose we could move on, if you really want to.”
Before Twilight could respond, she felt herself rise into the air and drift over to the bed, where she was gently placed on her back. The magic spread her wings and hind legs, tucked her forelegs to her chest, and, strangest of all, pulled a pillow under her head.
Rarity climbed up as well, looming over her, casting a shadow that seemed to sparkle. She lay sideways, letting her eyes rove over the alicorn’s frozen form. “So beautiful. . . so helpless. . .” she rolled to bring her face to Twilight’s, grinning lazily, “and all mine.”
She began kissing her way down Twilight’s body, starting with her cheek, then jaw, then down her neck. Every kiss left a pleasant, lingering burn, and Twilight found herself wishing she could squirm. The inability to move was maddening, and worse, she wasn’t completely sure she disliked it.
The feeling only intensified as Rarity continued her work, the feeling morphing into a ticklish tingle as she pressed her lips to the alicorn’s navel. Her body began to shiver again when the dark mare paused at her teats, lavishing each one with tingling kisses and gentle nips. Once again, she wanted to feel disgust, but the familiarity of the movements stopped it from happening.
Now quivering, Twilight waited helplessly as the unicorn’s full lips drifted over her lower ones. Rarity blew gently, earning a squeal, before murmuring. “My, my, Twilight. How wet you are.” She paused for the second, louder squeal, and said, “I bet somepony wants to cum, even though she hasn’t serviced me at all.” She was so close that Twilight could feel her hum. “I suppose I could indulge you. The moment the lips made contact, diamond glimmers sparkled across Twilight’s vision. The tension that had been slowly gathering through her body coiled all at once, and with the rest of her body frozen, it all went to one place.

The only thing that seemed solid was the unicorn’s dripping face smiling down at her. She giggled wantonly. “Somepony was certainly ready.” She rose to her hooves. “Seems we have that in common.” She turned, and Twilight’s eyes widened. Nightmare was soaked .
The dark mare looked back at her, grinning expectantly. “I gave you a taste of the pleasure in store for you. Now I think it’s time you tasted something else.”
Twilight’s eyes widened as her mouth went dry. Her nostrils flared, drinking in the scent of aroused mare. Right in front of her sat Nightmare’s pristine, glistening marehood, and she needed it.
The fact that she could move again was barely noted as she fumbled to get her hooves beneath her. The slight thrill of panic as she realized what she was doing was likewise swept aside. She was thirsty, and she was horny, and the pink peeking from within those midnight lips was just too enticing.
As she lurched forward, she suddenly found herself stopped by an aura of blue around her barrel. She struggled against it dumbly, stretching her neck forward and sticking out her tongue. She was so, so close to tasting it!
Rarity let out a sultry giggle. “Now, now, Twilight. I know you’re eager, but I never said you could have it just like that.”
Twilgiht whined, straining against the spell. “But I-”
“Lay back down, and I may reconsider. If you want to taste this pussy, it will have to be on my terms.”
The alicorn smacked her lips at the word, squirming in vain for another few seconds before groaning and throwing herself backwards.
Rarity turned, admiring the sight for a moment. “Good girl.” She stalked forward, stepping over Twilight with teasing confidence. “Now. . . how bad do you want it?”
Twilight flung her head back in frustration. “Please just let me eat you out! I need it!”
The unicorn’s smile grew strained, and she couldn’t hide the shudder that made her entire body shake. “V-Very well, darling. I’ll be generous.” Stepping forward with deliberate slowness, she moved until her sopping marehood was directly over Twilight’s head, and lowered it at an agonizing pace.
The sight of her prize within reach proved too much for Twilight. Without prompting, her hooves shot up, wrapping around the dark mare’s hips, and unceremoniously pulling those ebony petals directly onto her muzzle.
Sweet relief flooded Twilight’s body as she pushed her tongue out, driving it as deeply into the glistening snatch as it would go. She supposed the squeal from overhead was nice, too, but it paled compared to the satisfaction she felt as the musky- sweet flavor of passion filled her senses. It was like food after starving, or sleep after exhaustion. It just felt right.
The feeling only intensified as the Nightmare began to grind against her, letting her lap up even more of the flower’s divine nectar. Above her, she could hear the unicorn gasping for breath, trying to say something that must not have been important, because she couldn’t seem to get the words out. It grew higher and higher, and the grinding became erratic. Twilight opened wide, surprised that such a reward had come so fast, but too happy to care.
Nightmare Rarity cried out in ecstasy, her body seizing with pleasure as a rush of marecum met Twilight’s tongue. The alicorn licked greedily, determined to savor every last drop, which only seemed to encourage more. She felt the body above her spasm, and a hoof fell on her cheek with a desperate, “Stop-stop-stop-stop-stop!”
As quickly as it had come, Twilight’s strange thirst vanished, though the satisfaction it had brought lingered. She lay back, smiling contently at a marehood well serviced and a reward well earned.
The mare above her panted for a long moment, her face concealed by her undulating mass of mane. When eventually she brushed it aside, Twilight saw her satisfaction mirrored.
“Good girl, darling. Very good indeed.” She brushed a hoof along Twilight’s lips, which the alicorn began sucking with a hum. “You feel so wonderful right now, don’t you? Now you see what happens when you surrender.”
Twilight giggled dully, letting the hoof go with a final lick. “I. . .” she suddenly frowned, “surrender?”
Realization crashed against Twilight’s contentment like a runaway wagon. “What am I doing!” she shrieked, trying to squirm away from the Nightmare’s soaked groin. “What am I doing !” She managed to get her hooves under her, heedless of her captor’s protests, and began pulling herself loose. “Have to get the Elements! Has to be a way to-”
The gem dropped into her view, spinning slowing, glimmering in the dim light. “Calm, Twilight,” seemed to fill the whole world, and her panic drained away as surely as the tension in her muscles. “Calm.” A soothing, familiar hoof began to stroke her neck, which grew instantly heavy. “Now turn, and look into my eyes.”
Twilight’s body moved of its own accord. Those icy blue eyes stared into her, every bit as captivating as the crystal. Oddly, though, they seemed more concerned than anything. “Why are you still resisting, Twilight? As you can see, I already have you. You’re mine. Why keep fighting?”
“B-Because,” Twilight answered weakly, “I have to save Rarity from you. . . have to save Equestria from you.”
Nightmare gave her a pitying look. “Darling, you can’t even save yourself, much less Equestria. You can, however, still be with Rarity.”
Against the weight of trance, Twilight’s eyebrows managed to come together.
“Rarity surrendered to me already, Twilight. It’s why I’m here. Join her in surrender, and you can still be together.”
The alicorn shook her head sluggishly. “Can’t.”
Something glimmered behind the Nightmare’s eyes, and she grinned slightly. “Then I propose a deal, princess. I will release Rarity if you can resist surrendering with her. However,” she licked her lips, “I won’t hold back.”
Twilight did her best to glare. “Deal.”
The unicorn smirked. “Fabulous. Now,” her horn lit, and Twilight was flipped onto her back yet again. This time, however, she couldn’t help but notice that felt strangely comfortable. “Let’s finish this.”
She looked away, and for the first time Twilight noticed how drastically their surroundings had changed. The room had ceased to exist. All that remained was the bed, and an endless expanse of purple darkness and glinting gems. She blinked in surprise at the sight, and the Nightmare took advantage of her distraction by grabbing hold of her horn and pulling her muzzle directly into her marehood.
“Give in, Twilight. Give in to me. Accept you place, and surrender.”
Twilight squealed into the velvety flesh, trying to turn away, but Nightmare’s hold was solid. She looked up defiantly, only to feel her thoughts grow hazy as their eyes met. She closed them quickly, but the damage was done as the word “surrender” began quietly repeating in her head.
“Lick, Twilight,” she ordered smokily. “Take in my taste. Breathe in my scent. Bask in my warmth. It’s all you want.”
Twilight did as she was told. She couldn’t stop herself, and as her tongue slid against Rarity’s slick marehood, she wasn’t sure she should want to. It felt right. So right. So good .
The alicorn felt fear and excitement rise in her stomach as her hooves slipped downward on their own power and began to play with her mound.That felt right, too.
“Feel my power, Twilight. Feel it compel you. Feel it pleasure you. Only surrender will let you fully embrace it.”
Twilight shook like a leaf. Her entire body buzzed with blissful energy, and she felt dizzy as the scent of the Nightmare’s arousal filled her nostrils. Her own hooves had betrayed her, pulling her open and teasing at her clit, and every helpless lick sent a red hot bolt of ecstasy racing through her. Through it all, the voice in her head repeated its relentless mantra. “Surrender, surrender, surrender.”
Was this what it meant to surrender? The ecstasy, the feeling of belonging, of rightness ? If this was what Rarity had given in to, she couldn’t be blamed. With each passing second, Twilight felt her resistance fading, and with it, her certainty that she wanted to resist at all.
With the rest of her running on autopilot, Twilight’s eyes drifted upward, where she found Rarity’s waiting for them. The princess’ world fell away, narrowing to those two sapphire points, and a ragged, moaning voice panted, “You’re mine, Twilight. We both know it. Say it. Say you surrender, and pleasure like nothing you’ve ever known awaits.” The eyes grimaced, and Twilight felt her body beginning to seize with ecstatic tension. “Say it! I want to hear it!”
Some small, far away part of Twilight knew she could say no, but she didn’t want to. This was her place, and she knew it.
“I surrender.”
The world exploded into a kaleidoscopic comet burst of pure ecstasy. Twilight’s vision was filled with stars, and though she couldn’t hear, her body sang a symphony of bliss unbound. Lightning danced through every nerve, she was suffocating under the weight of her own pleasure, but she didn’t care. She didn’t want it to stop.
Slowly, very slowly, Twilight felt her senses returning. She was dazed, but she could feel something snuggled into her chest. It was panting weakly, whatever it was, and she was fairly certain it was telling her something, but she couldn’t quite understand. The only words that seemed to make sense were, “Come back to me.”
Her ears perked up, and she groaned, trying to focus on her hearing. The effort paid off for precisely one word.
“Sleep.”

Rarity doesn’t mess around when it comes to her couples recreation, does she? It’s gonna be a hell of a ten year anniversary. Of course, one has to wonder how Twilight’s gonna feel once she’s back to normal.

But the right Trick can turn even Nightmares sweet
Rarity cradled her entranced wife gently, rocking her as she would a sleepy foal. “Come back to me, Twilight,” she cooed, stroking the alicorn’s ethereal mane. It had been quite awhile since she could adequately play the role of big spoon and she made a mental note to bring it up with Twilight another time. For now, she needed to focus.
“Come back to me,” she said again, stroking and cradling. “Come back to reality. Let the fantasy fade into memory, and come back to me. Allow yourself to rise back into waking. Take as much time as you need. You have all the time in the world.”
After a minute or so, the alicorn began to stir. She screwed her eyes shut and stretched with a groan before blearily opening her eyes. She blinked owlishly, taking a moment to focus. “Rarity?” She blinked a second time when her eyes shot open and she scrambled to get her hooves. “Rarity?!”
“Twilight, Twilight,” Rarity piped, trying to calm her squirming mare down, “listen to me; it wasn’t real. None of that was real, except for the pleasure. I’m still me, and you’re still you. It was only a fantasy.”
It took a moment for Twilight to recognize the word. “Fantasy?” she panted.
“Fantasy,” affirmed the unicorn. Reluctantly, she moved away from Twilight, and lowered herself from the bed. “I understand that what just happened felt very real, Twilight, and if there’s anything you feel you need to do in order to feel safe, I won’t interfere.” She sat and looked away. “If I can reassure you in any way, please tell me.”
Twilight stared at her wife for a long moment before taking a deep breath and looking around the room. She grew more and more confused until she turned her gaze onto herself. “Why am I so small?” she asked. “The room hasn’t felt this big since my coronation.”
“I had you do that when the fantasy started,” Rarity explained neutrally. “I tried to minimize the spellwork you had to do to make it seem real, but some things simply couldn’t be done when you were twice my size.”
“Okay. . .” she murmured uncertainly. “What about the room shifting into a purple void?
“That was a bit of both,” Rarity stated, lighting her horn and floating a very large bundle of gem-studded midnight cloth from behind a dresser. “I hung it around the bed after a certain point, and the fantasy made it look far more arcane than it actually was.”
Twilight opened her mouth, but seemed to think better of it mid way and instead lit her horn. She spent the next few minutes casting spells, each scanning or diagramming the room in some way. Looking uncertain, the princess then turned her attention to Rarity, who simply gave her a nod.
Another five minutes passed of scanning, scrying, and examining the unicorn, which she took with uncharacteristic silence. Seemingly satisfied at last, Twilight sat hard. Rarity gave her a concerned look, but waited for her to speak first.
“So. . . that was all in my head?”
Rarity nodded. “Yes, Twilight. All in your head. All part of a fantasy.”
She looked at Rarity incredulously. “You did all that with hypnosis?”
The unicorn giggled and shook her head. “You did all that with hypnosis. All I did was help guide you.” She giggled again. “It’s a good thing I married you, Twilight. I’m not sure any other pony’s mind could have made it happen.”
“Huh.” Twilight nodded, looking troubled.
Rarity’s smile quickly faded. “How are you feeling, Twilight?”
The princess shook her head. “I’m not really sure. You were right, that was definitely scary, and far from what I was expecting, but. . . when it felt good, it felt incredible, and if I think about it, I can kind of see a few places where you broke character a bit when things were going too far. I guess. . . I don’t know.” She looked up at her wife. “I’ve just got to think about it.”
“Of course, darling.” Rarity moved at last, stepping over to hug her lover. “I completely understand. If I can help, please tell me how.”
Twilight returned the hug, and the warmth between them lifted her spirits somewhat, shielding her against the worst of her uncertainty. The two remained in each other’s embrace for several moments of comfortable silence.
Eventually, Rarity said, “I do have one idea for ending tonight on a more positive note, though you may not be interested now.”
Twilight hummed. “What’s that, honey?”
Rarity hesitated for a moment before saying, “I really did have two fantasies prepared, Twilight. You happened to get the Trick, which I tailored for myself; elaborate, grand, and gratifying to me. The Treat was tailored for you. No conspiracies or dangers, just a simple, warm experience meant to fulfill a fantasy of your own. I wasn’t planning on doing them both in one night, but having such a grand experience all for myself doesn’t sit right with me. You deserve at least as much.”
“Okay,” murmured Twilight, unconvinced but interested. “Can you tell me what kind of fantasy it fulfills?”
Rarity bit her lip. “I could, and if you really want me to, I will. It would, however, ruin the surprise, darling, and I promise it’s a much more pleasant surprise than anything in mine.”
Twilight looked on pensively for a moment before raising an eyebrow. “You promise it’s nothing like what just happened?”
Rarity smiled gently and nodded. “Cross my heart, hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye.”
Twilight’s eyebrows slowly reached for her mane. “Really?” She managed to keep a straight face for almost three seconds before a snort broke the facade, and both mares burst into laughter.
It was a while before Twilight had calmed down enough to chortle, “Weren’t we trying to keep Pinkie out of our hypnosis play?”
Rarity, who’d managed to rein herself in to a snicker, replied, “We were, which means I’d better be telling the truth, yes?”
The pair carried on for another moment before finally calming all the way down. Twilight let out a final, amused hum before nodding. “Thank you, Rarity. I think we both needed that.”
“You’re most welcome, darling. I think we did too.” She leaned over to quickly kiss her wife’s cheek. “Now, have you chosen? Would you like to have your treat, or would you rather we retired for the night. I’m happy either way, as long as you are too.”
“Well, I am curious. I can only imagine the kind of planning that must have gone into turning yourself into a Nightmare and making it all seem both real and surreal. I’d love to see what that same planning did just to make me feel good.”
Rarity smiled. “Very well, Twilight. First, however. . .” she lit her horn, and the second chocolate from the long forgotten tray floated between them.
Twilight stared at it. “Is this related to the fantasy?”
“Somewhat,” Rarity answered. “It certainly helps.”
“And you had two of them.” The princess grinned as she raised an eyebrow. “Were you planning on doing both fantasies the whole time?”
Her wife smiled mischievously. “Let us say I wanted to keep our options as open as I could.” She the alicorn a wink. “It’s also possible that I just wanted another of those marvelous kisses.” With that, she took the chocolate in her teeth and raised an eyebrow of her own.
Twilight lunged forward, pressing into the unicorn so hard that she was backed into the bed with a moan. Her lips captured the unprepared mares, and their mouths quickly became a rich, lightly sweet battleground. Though Rarity put up a good defense, her tongue ultimately conceded, allowing Twilight’s to delve and explore at its leisure. It lasted no more than thirty seconds, but both mares pulled away panting and freshly aroused.
“Well played, darling,” Rarity managed between breaths. “Well played indeed.” She inhaled deeply, trying to regain her composure. “Are you ready?”
Twilight nodded.
Rarity lifted the second card over and let it hang in front of her for a moment. Her smile widened slowly until it looked like the one she’d worn on their wedding day. “You’re the most wonderful pony I’ve ever known, Twilight Sparkle. I hope you enjoy your Treat.”
As the card flipped, the word echoed in Twilight’s head. A familiar sensation of falling overtook her, and Twilight felt her eyes roll back as she collapsed into sleep.

Or turn what we Fear most into wonderful Treats
Twilight looked out her window, beyond the balcony. Judging by the music, the celebration was still going strong. For her, though, she’d had enough. Her coronation had proven to be one of the most hectic, emotionally exhausting days of her life, and she still wasn’t positive whether she’d wake up to find that it hadn’t even been real.
As a firework streaked into the sky, she smiled. Even if this was a dream, it had been a good one, and she hoped she wouldn’t forget it when she woke.
She finally turned away, drawing the windows thick drapes shut with a spell and lifting her crown to its new resting place with another. Tired as she was, she wasn’t eager to try out the vastly oversized bed just yet. Besides, after all that had happened that day, she needed a quick shower at the least.
She was just steps from the bathroom when a knocking sounded against her bedroom door. The alicorn stopped in her tracks and sighed. She wasn’t ready to be at Equestria’s beck and call just yet. With any luck, it’d be one of her friends.
“Who is it?”
“It’s me, Twily. I didn’t catch you asleep, did I?”
Twilight blinked. She certainly hadn’t been expecting her brother to still be there, but she wasn’t about to complain. She’d barely gotten a chance to spend time with him or Cadence during the party, and no amount of fatigue would stop her from doing so now.
Her horn flickered, and the door opened to reveal Shining Armor in all his Prince-Consort splendor. Given, the skewed party hat did take some of the gravitas out of his look, but Twilight thought it was an overall improvement. “Shining!” she exclaimed, trotting over to give him a hug. “I’m so glad you stopped by! I felt terrible that I got to see you and Cadence so little.” She pulled away hopefully. “Is she here too?”
He smiled wanly. “Nah, she and Flurry Heart left right after Raven Inkwell stole you away. She wanted to talk too, but,” he shrugged, “you know how it is with Flurry.”
Twilight giggled. “Sure do.” She levitated a pair of cushions from her tea table and flopped onto one. “So, how are you two?”
“We’re awesome, Twi,” he declared, grinning his dorky, easy grin. “With all the work you’ve been doing to make good relations, the Crystal Empire’s never been better. It’s been a lot of work to keep up, but the tourism business just keeps growing. There’s even been talk of building a big casino theme park.” He deadpanned slightly. “Never gonna happen, but it’s cool that ponies are talking about it.” His expression became somewhat more serious. “All that said, I was actually hoping to talk about something specific, if that’s alright.”
She frowned, but nodded. “Of course. What?”
“You,” he said seriously. “How are you, Twilight? Without the royal-speak.”
Twilight opened her mouth, but it was a moment before her speech caught up with her. “I’m terrified, Shiny. I still don’t feel ready to lead Equestria. I don’t know if I’ll ever feel ready.” She set her jaw. “But I’m ready to try.”
Shining Armor slowly smiled, pride written all over his face. “Look at you. My little bookworm sister, ruling Equestria.” He rose to his hooves. “I know you’re probably tired of hearing this, but I want you to know that I believe in you. Not just because you’ve saved Equestria like a hundred times, not just because you’ve defeated all the worst villains we’ve had for the last thousand or so years, and not just because you’ve helped make the world the most harmonious place it’s been since forever, even though those are all pretty crazy and awesome. I believe in you because I know what an amazing pony you are.” He moved in, nuzzling her gently. “You’ve got this, sis, and if you ever need me, just call, and I’ll come running.”
Twilight pulled him into a hug, trying not to cry as warmth bubbled wonderfully in her chest. She felt so safe in his embrace, so loved and protected and warm, and she didn’t want it to end. It was in moments like this when, just for a second, she could pretend they were even closer, and that it was okay that she wanted to share herself with him the way she did.
“I, uh, I also wanted to talk about you being attracted to me.”
Twilight could feel the blood drain from her face, and could swear she heard a record scratching to a halt as she opened her eyes. She drew back quickly, her face a portrait of shock. A million questions and as many fears raced through her mind, though one towered above all the others, rising high on wings of shame. He knows. . . Oh, sun and stars, he knows. . .
She nearly missed it as he said, “Twilight?” She blinked uncertainly as a firm, unyielding hoof pressed gently against her cheek. “Twilight! ”
His face snapped back into focus at the shout. It was hard, but not angry so much as determined. “Twilight, listen to me,” he rapt out seriously. “You’re not a bad pony. Nopony thinks that you’re a bad pony, and don’t you dare let yourself believe that you’re a bad pony. Don’t you dare think that way. Do you understand?”
Twilight’s horror gave way to confusion. How could he. . . “What?”
Her brother let out an exasperated sigh and looked down. “I still don’t know if this was great timing for this, or the worst timing ever, but here we are.” He took a centering breath. “I know you’re attracted to me, Twilight. Cadence knows too, and neither of us are upset. Okay? Neither one of us.”
Twilight’s confusion remained, but shifted rather drastically. “You’re. . . You’re not?”
“No,” he assured, sounding relieved at a likely averted breakdown. “Not at all. Frankly, I’m sorry that I never saw it. Cadence had to point it out to me.”
“Cadence?” Twilight murmured, uncomprehending. “She’s not mad?”
“No, Twilight. Cadence isn’t mad. She’s the princess of love, remember? All types of love, and while even she would tell you this isn’t exactly normal as love goes, as long as it’s done the right way, she respects it.”
Still unable to fully wrap her brain around what was happening, Twilight mouthed silently for a moment before asking, “Right way?”
“No kids between family members, and no cheating,” he said succinctly. “As long as those things are taken care of, it doesn’t bother her.”
“But. . . But even then, you’re her husband! She’s your wife! How could she not care that I. . . feel that way about you?”
His expression became serious again, but the intensity of before was absent. “Cadence is the most important pony in the world to me, Twilight. She always will be, and she knows that.” He reached forward, wrapping a comforting hoof around her own. “Would you ever try to replace her as the most important pony in my life?”
“No!” she shouted, shaking her head violently. “No! I’d never want to come between you two! You’re perfect together! You have a foal together! I couldn’t live with myself if I messed that up for you two. I love you!”
His smile finally returned, warm and gentle and familiar. “And that right there, Twilight, is why we’re not upset. No matter how you feel, you’d never do anything if you thought it would break us apart.” He let go and swept his hoof out wide, inviting her to hug. “C’mere.”
As she pressed into him, she wept, but wasn’t fully sure why. One of her greatest, most secret shames had been laid bare, but. . . it didn’t hurt the way she thought it would. If anything, she felt better. It was almost as if a wound, buried deep and left to fester, had been opened up, and the pain was just the beginning of letting it heal.
She wasn’t sure how long she clung to him, enjoying his warmth, the comfort of his presence, but eventually the moment ended as he whispered, “Now, what would you do if you knew it wouldn’t mess anything up?”
Pressed against him, Twilight became suddenly aware of his scent. It was like the rest of him: warm, familiar, and most definitely masculent. Much as she tended to prefer mares (her Cadence fantasies nearly rivaled his own), she’d always had a proclivity for the smell stallions, and Shining’s personal aroma had always been her favorite.
“Uh. . .” she swallowed dryly. “What do you mean?”
He pulled away. His expression was one she’d never seen before. It almost looked sly, like his just-pulled-a-prank look, but more. . . alluring. “I mean, if you could do anything you wanted with me, right here, right now, what would it be?”
Twilight gaped like a fish out of water. “You. . . you’re not serious.”
“Oh, I’m a hundred percent serious,” he said plainly. “I wanted to come, but Cadence cinched it. She said, and I quote, “This is probably the scariest night of her entire life, Shining, and she needs somepony to comfort her, no matter what that means,” and she was right. As usual.” He suddenly gave her a faux nervous grin and added, “She also said she’d geld me if I was too harsh with you, so maybe let her know I was nice?”
Twilight stared at her brother for a long moment. “Let me get this straight. You and Cadence both know how I really feel about you, and in spite of that, Cadence told you to come here and comfort me, even if it meant. . . that?”
Shining sat and gave her a sidelong nod. “Pretty much.”
“Shiny,” she sighed, putting her head in her hooves. “I don’t want you to. . . do those kinds of things with me just because Cadence said you should, or because you feel like it would comfort me. That’s really, really-”
“Not why I’m offering,” he interrupted. “Cadence told me to be here for you, but I’m not doing it because she told me to. I’m doing it because she was right, and I’m not gonna let you face this crazy coronation thing alone. As for comforting you, that’s why I came. If you’d rather we just wrestled, or read comic books all night, great! We can do that. I only offered sex because I know you want it, and because I think we’d both enjoy it.”
Once again, Twilight felt her brain go into overload. She was a bit impressed that she hadn’t passed out yet. “Huh? But. . . Huh ?”
“You sure are repeating yourself a lot tonight,” he teased, earning a sputter of protest from the princess. “Look, Twilight, tonight’s about making you feel good. I’m gonna have fun no matter what we do. If you want a good rutting, awesome, let’s do it. If not, awesome, let’s grab some popcorn and bad sci-fi movies. What would make you the happiest?”
Twilight was flummoxed. This sort of thing just. . . didn’t happen. Her eyes began wandering down his body, lingering on the muscles that his jacket only accented, and she blushed.
A chuckle brought her gaze back to his. He was wearing a knowing smirk as he nodded. “Alright. Sounds good to me. This’ll be a lot of fun.” His horn lit, and the jacket began to work itself loose.
Twilight gulped as her brother’s toned body became visible, bit by bit. He’d always been athletic, and she’d always admired that, but never in a setting like this.
As his chest became visible, a terrible sense of inadequacy came over Twilight. He was a perfect specimen as stallions went, and Cadence was beyond perfect and into divine territory. Compared to that, she was outright unattractive.
Before she could bury herself in the thought, a hoof on her cheek interrupted her. “Hey,” he said bluntly, “I know that look, and you need to stop that kind of thinking right now. I’m not about to sit here and let you cut yourself down because you don’t think you’re pretty.”
“But I-”
“Stop it,” he said flatly, shaking his head. “Do I need to come out and say it, Twilight, cause I will. You’re hot. You’ve done a lot of growing up since you moved to Ponyville, and I’ve definitely noticed. Take if from me, being a hero keeps you in good shape no matter how much time you spend reading. . . or, uh, not reading. Plus, you’ve got the alicorn beauty and grace coming in. I know it’s still pretty subtle, but it’s there. Finally, you’re freakin’ adorable. If someone brings up something you’re interested in, look out! You turn into the most upbeat, enthusiastic mare in Equestria.” He gave her a grin. “You’re pretty much the perfect cute nerd, and if you were just some mare I’d met at the marketplace, I’d definitely have a thought or two about what was under your tail.”
After another round of praise and another cloud of warmth expanding in her chest, Twilight could only look at him in hope and gratitude. “Really?”
His smile grew. “I guarantee it.” Taking the initiative, he tossed his jacket aside and stepped forward, pressing his lips to the mare’s and getting a shocked squeak in return. He held the kiss until he felt her return it, then held it a bit longer before pulling away.
Twilight was panting like a dog in the badlands, still not sure how all this had happened, but her brother’s next words made it difficult to care. Nipping at her ear, he purred, “Do you wanna show me, sis? Do you wanna show me what’s under your tail?”
Twilight spun as quickly as she could. It was a struggle. She was shaking so badly that her limbs threatened to give out beneath her. Before her turn was even complete, she felt a warm droplet fall against the inside of her legs. She was already soaked, and her brother was about to see it.
With a final push, she finished turning around and, gulping loudly, flagged her tail.
He didn’t disappoint. “Damn, Twi. Look how wet you are. Guess this was the right call, huh?” He hummed in approval. “Spread it a little. Give me a show.”
Twilight’s knees nearly gave, and she could barely focus enough to use magic, but she still had the wherewithal to light her horn, pulling one of her nether lips slightly aside.
This time he didn’t hum. He growled. Twilight had never heard him make such a sound, but the resulting shivers nearly made her collapse yet again. “Fuck. . . you look tight as Tartarus, Twi.
