Time is Required to Conquer the Past

Overwhelming Pain

Previous Chapter

The clock irritatingly ticked every second, robbing me of my recent, rare delight when resting in a hospital.

Tick.

Tock.

Tick.

Tock.

It felt like minutes. Maybe even days. Might as well be months. Then evolving into years. I sat there motionless on my bed, an arrogant, cacophonous buzzing sound growing larger in my ears. Agh- my head began aching even more than it usually would, as if a spider was constantly tickling my brain, developing silver webs inside. I stuck my tongue out at that exchange of circumstances, my condition worsening as I proceeded intentionally thinking those thoughts. A way to pass time, huh? I stared up at the ceiling, noticing the cerulean, puffy clouds. Such...... Etiquette and seldom met material. Unsuitable for a....... Grotesque and obtuse environment for pegasi, -Ponyville.
Puffy clouds.
Contumaciously, I zealously wanted to.... Disrupt the awkward tranquility surrounding me. The mellifluous, sweet, peaceful quiet. Many would consider such thoughts rather rancid, but.......... Something in my head was ushering me to do just that.... Something I couldn't explain. Nonplussed, I turned stridently towards the other side of my bed, shaking my head, and eagerly expecting to fall asleep and calm myself. A redolent smell caught my attention soon enough, making me the slightest bit dizzy.
I managed to comprehend a serious expression on my face upon realizing I wouldn't get any rest any time soon. A water drop fell down on my already dampened and straight hair, trickling down to my delicate, soft skin. Cold, my body began shivering, something that often wouldn't approach me whenever I experience anything of the sort. l As an immediate reaction my face lit up with concern, and my heartbeat's major speed increased.

He was wearing a tall, black, comely top hat. A black coat, his eyes glistening in the darkness as he swiveled around my motionless body. I still had that sharp, bloody knife tight in my grasp, despite the constant pain, as a way to defend myself as much as I could. A tear trickled down my face, dropping to my delicate, soft, crimson skin as he insanely, yet, with such rhapsody proceeded to laugh, as if he were on the verge of tears himself.

Hopeless. Admirable and successful confrontation consisted of the polar opposite. Hope.
A smirk managed to cross my face, compatible to the one of the vile murderer's.
He was pathetic. Not me.
My wings agitated as I realized they were still attached to my back, that stallion threatening and, surprisingly and fortunately perjuring they were going to be no more.
My passion. Flying.
My thoughts transformed into a haphazard of wilderness. I ceased smirking. He was going to take away my purpose. My feathered wings. He was going to take away my life. And I wouldn't be able to reclaim it ever again. Him. It was him.

What was this hospital anyways? There wasn't any nurse or doctor to check up on me? Well, then again, I wanted to be alone, and that wouldn't be a problem, but still. I wanted to go back to my cloud mansion or whatever. I glanced over at my severely injured hoof, preventing my self from screaming in agony again. My tears welled up with searing pain. It was day already, and the sun had risen up, illuminating the room with scorching yellow beams, piercing my eyes with light and pain even more. I wanted to get up and pull down the darn curtains, but I couldn't get up. My physical strength was wasted. I accidentally put my wounded hoof over my eye, and I let out a high-pitched scream as a few blood drops trickled down from my hoof into my eyes. I ceased my shriek afterwards to put my healthy hoof over my mouth, as I realized the commotion I had made. It was too late already.

"Great.... Just great......"- I soliloquized, sighing forcefully, and letting out a small chuckle.

I could hear a few mumbled voices from the outside corridor, causing me to shrink into my sheets. Somepony had heard me, after all. I cursed under my breath, inhaling and exhaling heavily.
The mumbled voices grew larger and larger, along with the diabolical heavy hoof stomping. Now they, whoever or whatever they were, were making even more commotion than I had done previously. As I quoted something from some famous pony into the back of my head, I decided to look on the bright side. Maybe they were going to finally announce that I could go back home and out of this hell.

The door creaked open, ajar, revealing a tall pegasus stallion with a yellow coat and an indigo cross as a cutie mark. An almost equally tall mare accompanied him, with a blue coat, a shade lighter than the cyan coat of my own. Complimenting her facial features, she had a long, flourishing white mane that swayed back and forth.
My vision was blurred as I glared arrogantly towards the supposed doctor and nurse. I blinked my magenta eyes several times, attempting to try to recognize the couple.
My eyes focused clearly upon the pair, now noticing that their mouths were open wide, as they stared into each other.

"What-"- I could make out a hoarse whisper, opposing of my usual ebullient, effervescent voice. At least it hadn't lost its rasp.
They repulsively glared at me, returning the favor. I grunted at their rude reaction, as the mare shook her head, staring at her colleague with a look of sympathy in her eyes, then towards me with a look of a serpentine's glare. I sighed, and mumbled some berserk thing under my breath, returning the 'favor'.

The superior doctor cleared his throat, progressing and staring at me strictly, as if he were having a staring contest with me.

"Miss Dash."- he conceitedly said, and I took note that I appealed to him as a mental patient.

"Yes?"- I suppressed my thoughts and succeeded to speak in a clearer and higher-pitched tone - a voice rivaling that of a gleeful child's excitement when receiving a super new advanced toy. The doctor sighed, and took out his clipboard and pen, preparing to declare his demands for answers.

"Now, tell me Miss Dash, what was that shriek all about?"- he inquired relevantly.

"Ah- I......"- I began sweating profusely, glancing towards the window for a quick second.
The doctor put his clipboard back into his leather bag.

"Ah, you know, it doesn't matter. I guess you can just sign these papers, - the doctor pulled out a few sheets,- So you can finally obtain your health requirements and prepare for your department."- he said, lending me the sheets of paper and pen.

A forced and irritating, painful beam managed to cross my face. I smiled at the doctor and the nurse, as I went over to a desk to sign the papers, ignoring my crimson, painful wounds.

"Miss Dash?"- the stallion called my name, and I turned to face him.

"Since you are an official, successful identity for our country, it's necessary that we know where you will be going next so we deport you."

"Oh, I'm just returning to my hometown, Ponyville. And wow, I guess I'm glad somepony finally knows about the Elements of Harmony.. Heh."- I said with an unfortunate and failed attempt at a smirk, my head throbbing in piercing pain, while wondering what he meant. We-we were in Ponyville already.

He unleashed his sharp blade, slashing it into the crimson chair, splinters flying in opposite directions.

The medical professionals exchanged intense looks of concern.

"Miss Dash............ Ponyville doesn't exist. Neither do the........ Ah, 'Elements of Harmony'."- the doctor stated calmly, dumping a large pile of information on top of my already unstable mind, as I dropped my pen in disbelief. I began sweating again, putting my hoof to my hot forehead. My heartbeat increased drastically and I was about to faint.

"Miss Dash. I see the coma has taken a big effect on your mental aspects."

My head hit the floor, and everything..... Blacked out.

"You are currently, still, a very important identity to our society, but most have forgotten you even existed. It's been a fairly long time, and your colleagues and friends still worry about you to this day."

"I promise I'll return, guys."- I turned to a group of ponies, as I entered the cloudy form of transport with my companion, about to begin my tour. Their faces were blurred, but I could notice they were all pegasi.

"I suggest we deport you to Cloudsdale ourselves, Miss Dash."

I stared at the blank walls of the hospital. They were all clouds.
' Las Pegasus Medical Institute'
No. This wasn't real. My friends were real. They weren't pigments of my mind. This was just a dream. Just pinch yourself. You'll see. This wasn't real. This wasn't real. This wasn't real.

"Like the outfits I made you, darlings?

No.

"Oh-umm... Sorry if I upset you.

No.

"Hello, I see you're new to Ponyville! Yay! I can be your first friend!"

Impossible.

"Diddly darn! Y'all alright, sugar cube? You're sweating as heavily as a worm during apple bucking season."

.......................................
I was.

"The spark...... The last element..... It all connects! The Elements of Harmony must consist of six elements! The one uniting all- Magic!"

The Magic of Friendship.
It wasn't real.
All of this wasn't real.

"Miss Dash.................?"
