A Glimmer of Sparkly Glowing Hope
A Cozy Light
Load Full StoryNext ChapterA Pegasus filly no older than ten years was walking through the streets of Canterlot. She looked extremely Malnourished and was just looking for some food. Her coat was a pink color. Her mane was a dark teal with light teal stripes. As she walked, she saw a bakery. The owner seemed to be away from the counter, and there was food on display right behind it.
The filly licked her lips and checked her surroundings before going inside. As she approached the counter, she heard hoofsteps coming from the kitchen.
She thought about leaving then and there, but thought back to her only friend.
"Cozy, I'm so hungry." She remembered.
She took at deep breath and grabbed the basket of baked goods with her teeth and flew out of the store.
"Hey, get back here!" came a shout from the owner.
She flew as fast as she could through the city towards the hideout she and her only friend were staying in. She made sure she didn't drop any of the goods.
"THIEF!" came a shout as the owner managed to catch up to her as he took her in his magic.
"NO! LET ME GO!" The filly screamed, squirming about, making sure she held tightly onto the food.
"You stole from my store! You think you can just get away with that?!?!" The Baker screamed angrily.
"I NEED TO FEED HER!" She screamed before chomping on his ear, causing him to scream and get distracted by the pain.
The filly took that chance to fly away as fast as she could. She double backed a few times until she finally reached the hideout.
It was small little camp area hidden away between a bunch of tall buildings. It wasn't much, but it was cozy for the two fillies that made this their home.
"C-cozy? I-is that you?" came the trembling voice.
"Twilight! I'm here! I brought food!" She said, trotting towards the voice of her friend.
Twilight stepped out from deeper in the hideout, revealing her gaunt form. She was around the same age as Cozy was. Though she was in much worse condition than the Pegasus was.
"Here, eat up." Cozy said, dropping the basket in front of her only friend.
"What about you? You need to eat too," Twilight said, weakly levitating some of the food to her.
"No, you are far worse than me. Please just eat, Twi." Cozy said, pushing the food back to her.
"Cozy, please, I..." Twilight's plea was interrupted by a cough. "I don't know how much longer I can last. You need to eat so that if I..."
Before she could continue any further, there was a sudden slap from her friend, though as weak as they both were, it more startled her than actually hurt her.
"Eat. Now!" Cozy said sternly. "And don't you EVER fucking imply something like that again! You are the only good thing in my life and I'll be damned if I'm gonna lose you!" She said as she hugged her best and only friend.
"I'm sorry, Cozy," Twilight apologized as she started eating.
"THERE YOU ARE!!" came a shout from the entrance.
"Oh no. Twilight hide!" Cozy said in worry.
"I'm not leaving you," Twilight said, determination on her face.
The stallion from the bakery approached the pair.
"Twilight, please hide!" Cozy begged.
"Cozy, you don't have a horn. I do."
"I- WAAAAAAAAHHH!" She screamed as she was pulled back by the stallion's magic.
"Take my food will you! I'll show you what we do to thieves where I'm from!" He holds her tightly in his magic as he pulls out a knife.
"COZY!" Twilight shouted as she rushed forward, horn already sparking.
"I'M SORRY! I JUST WANTED TO FEED MY FRIEND! LOOK AT HER! SHE'S PRACTICALLY STARVING TO DEATH!" The filly cried.
He casually swatted Twilight aside, setting his knife against one of Cozy's hooves, "Any last words as a quadruped rat?!"
"TWILIGHT! I'M SORRY I COULDN'T KEEP MY PROMISE TO YOU! IT LOOKS LIKE I'M GONNA LEAVE YOU AFTER ALL! JUST RUUUUN!!!" The filly begged.
"NO!" Twilight screamed, shutting her eyes as she instinctively shot off a powerful beam of magic at the stallion.
The next thing the pair knew, the stallion's head was simply gone. His body fell to the ground with a heavy Thump.
"I...I'm alive?" Cozy Glow said as she opened her eyes.
Twilight glomped her pegasus friend in relief.
"Oh thank Celestia!"
"Twilight! I'm so sorry! Are you okay?" Cozy asked as she softly hugged her friend back.
"I'm fine. Are you okay?" Twilight asked.
"Yeah...thanks to you! You amazing filly! You saved me!" Cozy said with a happy smile.
"What can I say? Nopony hurts my friend... speaking of which..."
Suddenly the distinct smell of burnt pony hit their nostrils.
"I REALLY can't believe I'm about to say this...but...I'm REALLY fucking hungry. Please tell me there's still some bread left."
Twilight levitated the last of the food over to her, unable to take her eyes off of the dead body.
"I did that?" She muttered in awe.
"Yes, you did. That horn of yours is really something! I bet you're talent will be magic!" Cozy praised as she gratefully took the bread.
It was then the pair of fillies suddenly realized that the bakery was now unguarded.
"Twilight, we can go get as much bread and cookies and all of that as we can carry!" Cozy pointed out.
"Forget that! We can just move into the bakery!" Twilight realized.
"We CAN do that...but we need to find a reason to keep other ponies out....how good are you at making stuff with magic? Are you up to it?"
Twilight tried to create something with her magic. She wasn't sure what it was, she just knew she wanted it to be something that would help them. The pair suddenly felt themselves being smothered in a hug by a giant bear that looked like it was made of nightmares.
"Twilight, I meant like a damn sign!" Cozy squeaked.
"Sorry!" Twilight apologized as she tried to use her magic to make the bear reform into a sign.
The bear turned into a sign that said: Bakery closed until further notice.
"Much better," Twilight sighed in relief.
"Twilight...if this is going to work...we need to get rid of the evidence." Cozy sighed as she and her friend looked at the headless body.
"I think I've got enough in me for another blast, but I don't know how much I'll have left..." Twilight admitted, already preparing another one.
"After this, We'll have a whole fucking bakery to replenish your magic with!" Cozy pointed out happily.
Twilight nodded, concentrating on her spell. After several seconds, she shot the magic at the body. When blast dissipates, there's hardly even a single bone left.
"There... we... go..." Twilight said, before she collapsed from exhaustion.
"Twilight! Oh fuck! I-It's okay! I'll carry you!" Cozy said as she draped her over her back and began trotting as best as she could towards the direction of the bakery.
"Thanks..." Twilight said as she fainted on her friend's back.
It was a short trek to the bakery, which the stallion had thankfully left unlocked. Cozy placed the sign on the door before locking it after she had entered. She went to the back of the bakery to find a small cot. She placed Twilight on it and pulled a blanket over her.
"We're finally fucking safe. For now at least." Cozy sighed.
"Food... please," Twilight said, slightly coming to.
"Oh...good. You're awake. Yeah, I'll get you something to eat. Anything you want in specific?" Cozy asked her friend as she rubbed her side.
"Something... sugary." The Unicorn filly mumbled.
"Cookies coming right up! Here you go!" Cozy said as she grabbed a couple cookies from the shelf next to her.
Twilight took the cookies in her hooves and started eating.
"Now after you finish eating. Sleep! I'm fucking serious this time! Get some damn rest!" Cozy said sternly.
"What are you, my mother?" Twilight joked, feeling her energy slightly restored from some of the cookies.
Cozy gave her a playful rage face, sucking in her lip to make it even funnier. Twilight laughed hard enough that she ended up sending herself into another coughing fit.
"Oh! Fucking shit! Sorry!" Cozy squeaked as she soothingly rubbed her hooves along her friend's body.
Twilight's coughing subsided after several seconds.
"It's fine, don't worry."
"Okay, good." Cozy sighed in relief.
There was a bit of blood dripping from Twilight lip, but it was nothing new to the pair.
"I'll go to sleep on one condition," Twilight said as she lifted the blanket. "You sleep with me."
Cozy snorted at that and climbed into the cot with her friend. "Okay, princess."
"Hmmm... princess... I like the sound of that..."
"Shut up." Cozy said playfully as she snuggled into her only friend.
The two fillies fell asleep, cuddling into each other's warmth.
An hour or two later, the two started to wake up. The sun was starting to set, sunlight streaking through the windows.
"Hey, Cozy," Twilight said as she looked out the window.
"Hi, Twilight." Cozy said as she sat up and yawned.
"Look outside."
Cozy turned her head to look outside the window. The night sky was even more beautiful than usual.
"I've always loved the night. Day is cool and all, but the stars are so pretty." Cozy sighed as she stared at the twinkling stars.
"Maybe someday we'll get to meet the mare in the moon," Twilight sighed wistfully.
"I hope so. She's probably so cool." Cozy said as she laid her head on Twilight's chest.
"Cozy there, Cozy?" Twilight joked.
"Eeeyup." Cozy said.
She took in her surroundings and noticed that they were upstairs in an actual bed instead of the cot in the storage room. "You moved us, didn't you."
"Huh... I guess I did... must have done it in my sleep..."
The pair suddenly smelled something burning from downstairs. They rushed down to investigate what the smell was coming from. Apparently the Baker had left something in the oven, probably just before chasing after Cozy. Black smoke was seeping past the oven door.
"FUCKING SHIT!" Cozy screamed as she went inside and turned off the oven.
"Hopefully no one noticed," Twilight said.
"Can you use magic to get rid of this damn smoke?" Cozy asked as she opened the oven and pulled out what looked like a charred cake.
Twilight nodded before casting a spell.
"I don't think anypony noticed, because the fire alarm didn't go off. Thankfully. Heh. Weird sentence." Cozy said as she threw the cake out.
If they'd investigated the alarms, they would've found that they were literally just plastic shells with little lights on them.
"That was lucky, though," Twilight said, relieved.
"Now that we're officially awake and not going back to sleep, anything you wanna do?" Cozy asked her friend as she pulled out a cookie and ate it.
"Not particularly," Twilight said with a shrug as she ate a cookie too.
Two starving orphans in a bakery filled with sweets. Whatever will they do to pass the time? The narrator asked himself.
"Let's just eat!" Twilight said after a few seconds of thinking.
"Okay!" Cozy chirped happily.
A few hours later the fillies were hunched over the toilet bowl as they puked their guts out.
"That was -hrrrk- A fucking mistake." Cozy groaned as she puked.
"Ooof.... agreed..." Twilight puked next to her.
Luckily, this taught the fillies their lesson, or they would have killed themselves before the story had even begun.
But at least the toilet bowl was nice and cool.
"So... now what?" Twilight asked after several seconds.
Cozy hugged her friend and rubbed her back. "Anything we want I guess."
Author's Note
I'm going to go all out with this one! I will make this a great story!
I hope everypony likes this story! I'm going to put my all into this one! I haven't gotten to Cozy Glow's introduction episode, but apparently, my headcanon of her is basically how she acts in the show. This is obviously AU as hell, with Cozy being the same age as Twilight. They're both ten.
