Forget Me Not
A Girl Meets A Girl
Load Full StoryNext ChapterAnother day at Canterlot High, Trixie was sitting in a class and looking at the clock once again, the arrows were moving agonizingly slow. This is the one trick she could not master, time.
The only thing that Trixie could do to not die of boredom is drawing in her sketchbook, which contained all her nerdiness, sketches of posters, magic tricks and etc. In other words, it is her diary of some sorts.
As the last class went on, the most boring of them all, Math, Trixie continued drawing in sketchbook neglecting the lesson, ignoring everything what the teacher said. When she drew, time went by pretty fast, to the point that she didn’t notice the clock turning 2:30 PM. A loud ring of a school bell struck and she started packing her pencils and sketchbook into a backpack. She quickly got up and went straight for the exit.
“Ooh, finally, time to go home” Trixie thought as she put her headphones and going to the exit.
She walked to the bus stop, and soon enough the bus arrived just in time. She quickly closed the distance and went inside. She took a seat and watched out the window, looking at the streets and houses that the bus passed by. Thinking about her school day, which was extremely boring, Trixie thought about what to do next. “What should I do now? Being home is a bit boring; my friends are working at the café, Fuchsia’s, and Lavender’s part-time job afterschool. Maybe I should draw something or practice some magic tricks? However, to be enclosed in four walls is aggravating.” Trixie thought, eyes wandering over the streets, not stopping on any particular sight.
Ten minutes into the bus ride and Trixie arrived at her bus stop. She walked out of the bus and looked around, instantly realizing that it wasn’t her bus stop. “Oh, jeez… Trixie, now you need to walk all the way on foot”
Therefore, she did, it wasn’t that big of a trip, just a few kilometers, nothing that Great and Powerful Trixie cannot overcome. She took out her phone and texted her mom: “Mom, Trixie will be with Fuchsia and Lavender so she’ll be a bit late”
“Ok, sweetie. Tell Trixie to not be late for dinner, and that mommy loves her” Trixie sighed at the message she received from her mother.
It was a pleasant walk down the street, after a couple of blocks Trixie met with a beautiful sight. Right there in the middle of the city was a nice city park, which she knew about, but never, had the chance to visit. It was full of various types of flowers, a few trees here and there, a couple of benches and a nice looking fountain.
“How nice, maybe Trixie could rest here and draw a few sketches while waiting for her friends.” Trixie thought with a smile, she looked around and found a nice place to draw; she walked to the bench by the tree and sat. Tapping on her phone, she wrote a quick text to Fuchsia and Lavender. “Hey, guys, Trixie’s at the Canterlot Green Park, she’ll be waiting for you here”
She pulled out her headphones and picked up her sketchbook, thinking about what to draw.
However, after some time, she couldn’t come up with anything to draw, but it didn’t matter because wind became stronger with each second, roughing her hair a bit and blowing leaves in her way. “Ugh, the wind is so strong Trixie can’t draw at all” Trixie thought, while closing the sketchbook and putting it aside, she just sat and looked at the park, enjoying the nice and quiet place. “It’s quite nice; Trixie should come here more often”
Suddenly she heard somebody approaching, it caught her attention and she looked behind. She saw a nice looking girl with slim figure; she had a long green hair down to the waist. Wearing a beige coat and dark blue jeans. The mysterious girl walked towards Trixie and sat at the wide bench with her. Trixie looked away; it seemed that she had no reaction at all. They were just sitting together, enjoying the city park as if they were friends. Just not very talkative.
They were sitting for quite some time, none of them saying a word to each other. Just sitting, nobody seemed to be ready for talking. Moreover, it was very uncomfortable, though nobody showed they true feelings. It was getting intense with each passing second.
“A-Awkward!” Trixie thought, screaming internally. “Huh? W-why? Who is she?” Although, on the outside Trixie seemed quite calm, but she was nervous. “Why isn’t she saying anything? This park is ridiculously big and there a lot of benches, yet she went out of her way to sit with me.” The wind didn’t calm down and got even stronger a bit. “I don’t know what she wants. Should I break the silence? Wait… why would I?”
In any case, Trixie didn’t have any clever lines to use on girls, well she had a few lines written in her sketchbook, but they weren’t that good. Trixie’s heart was beating fast and could as well jump out of her chest at any second. At least the wind helped her to cool down a bit. Otherwise, she would sweat profusely. She slowly picked up her sketchbook turned to the last page titled “Cool Lines for Wooing a Girl”.
Looking at the content of the page, she thought, “Oh there’s a good line. What a beautiful sunset.” However, then she realized “Nonononono, there’s no sunset, Trixie! It’s 4 P.M.!”
There was a raging battle inside Trixie’s heart and mind, “Besides, that cliché phrase wouldn’t fit the mood!”
The sky was clear this day and the sun shone quite brightly, wind slowed down and turned into a pleasant breeze. The couple bathed in a nice shade created by the tree, and the air smelled of tulips and roses.
“No, this situation… In this green park dyed in the bright sunrays, she meets a lone girl sitting on the bench shaded by the tree… What a fantastical situation!”
Although, Trixie was quite nervous, but she was excited too. “Maybe, she’s hoping for an unrealistically romantic “girl-meets-girl” encounter?” She overpowered her will and peeked at the girl with left eye. For just a split second.
The green haired girl was holding a right hand to her chin as if thinking. She looked nervous too, the blush didn’t help at all, eyes darting here and there, returning to Trixie once in a while. She was fidgeting in her seat, seemingly nervous.
“It sure seems so,” Trixie thought, feeling oddly calm, but then she realized “Which means she wants me to make the first step. Oh no… I can’t do that step! I’m only here because I have nothing to do, since both my friends are at their part-time jobs. There is nothing special about this situation. I’m just a normal girl drawing in her sketchbook to pass the time. Whatever.”
Trixie closed her sketchbook and put it inside her backpack. “Anyway, I shouldn’t betray her expectations. And she does looks beautiful” Turning on her willpower to maximum, Trixie closed her eyes and inhaled. “All right, here comes my Great and Powerful phrase!”
The wind blew in her face, leaves rustling making a pleasant noise to their ears; it really is a nice day.
“I-If I had my only wish come true… it would be… to be with you.” Trixie said not looking anywhere in particular, her face had no emotions, she was saying with no expression at all. “Oh, now I wanna die! What the hell was that?” If only they would see her internal battle. “This is beyond embarrassing! Why Trixie? WHY! L-Let’s see her reaction…” She turned her head and peeked at the green haired girl.
“She’s blushing even more and she looks happy! That is a good reaction right? I felt my mind boiling a bit, but I said it anyways. Now, let’s hear your comeback!” Trixie expectantly waited for the girl’s reply, a smile creeping out just a little.
The green haired girl stood up and walked to the field of flowers, Trixie was saddened by that, she thought that she really wooed that girl by that phrase and her good looks of course, but apparently. “She is not the significant one for Trixie, maybe she’s not into girls, what a pity, and she does look really nice.” Trixie returned to her sketchbook, turned the last page about clever lines and crossed one particular line several times.
To Trixie’s surprise, the girl returned with a dark violet flower in her hands. She slowly approached Trixie, her meek appearance making her even cuter.
“I was just showing this flower… how beautiful you are.” She reached to Trixie’s ear and tucked there a violet flower. Afterwards she sat beside Trixie on the bench, blushing profusely. She was sitting much closer than before.
“This girl is hot!” Trixie blushed too it was unbearable. They both looked away from each other, too embarrassed to say anything else. “Oh, I can’t do this anymore, this atmosphere! It’s too much!” That’s why Trixie already called her friends, maybe they would get the hint and come quicker. “My rescue squad. Come, warriors! Destroy this barrier for me!”
The vibration in Trixie’s hoodie pocket announced that Fuchsia and Lavender arrived. “They’re here! That was fast!”
They both heard a voice of a girl behind them; Trixie recognized it as Lavender’s voice. “You know, your love is like the sea, you can see the beginning but not the end.”
Both girls blushing turned around and looked at Lavender. Trixie was screaming internally “Why are you so witty, today of all days?!”
Lavender noticed that all the attention switched to her, she lifted her right hand to cover her face in embarrassment, blushing and sweating a little.
“Don’t blush. Just die.” Trixie thought, embarrassed by this whole situation they were in. Trixie looked at the green haired girl, who looked quite happy holding a hand to her chest probably to stop her furiously beating heart, the blush on her face was stronger than ever. “I can’t take this anymore. Just get me back to reality already! I’ll dispel this atmosphere and be on my way.” Trixie stood up “With a practical phrase, nothing special” The green haired girl looked up at Trixie and stood up too, waiting for something to happen.
Trixie turned to her and said “I-I… lost my phone number, can I borrow yours?” She tore a page from her sketchbook and gave it to the girl, her hand shaking while doing so. “What the hell am I saying?! I don’t even know her name! This escalated quickly”
The green haired girl shocked by this but nevertheless took the paper and wrote down a number without words, and then she returned it, while looking away. Trixie was about to take the paper when suddenly she heard another voice.
“Wait!”
They both turned their heads at the source of this voice. There beside Lavender stood a purple haired girl. “The other member of the rescue squad, Fuchsia!”
“Hey, this is bad! The potato chips at that convenience store are half-off! Let’s get going!” She was pointing sideways, probably a store she was talking about.
“Read the atmosphere, girl! It’s not the best time, Fuchsia!” Trixie was facepalming internally; this could not have gotten worse.
The green haired girl dropped the paper with her phone number in Trixie’s hands and quickly ran to Fuchsia, hitting her in the stomach. “Ah! Why me, sis?” Fuchsia was holding her stomach with both hands in pain.
“Sister?...” Trixie was surprised by this fact.
“…Well, I need to go. I will be waiting for your call, Trixie” Fuchsia’s sister looked to Trixie and waved with a smile. Trixie reciprocated the wave, blushing a bit.
“Is she my girlfriend now?” Trixie wondered, as she was watching the girl leaving the group.
“So, what was that all about?” Lavender asked.
“Ugh, my sister punched me in the stomach didn’t you see?” Fuchsia replied making an annoyed expression.
“Was that really your sister? You never told me you had a sister.” Trixie wondered while adding the phone number to her contacts. “What’s her name?”
“I thought you knew; you’ve seen her like a bunch of times. Her name is Wallflower,” Fuchsia said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“Wallflower, huh?” Trixie said “What a sweet name” she thought. “Well now I know her, and she is sort-of-kinda Trixie’s girlfriend, now.” She said to her friends.
“Really? That’s… cool I guess.” Fuchsia was not surprised “Anyways, let’s go buy some chips!”
“Yeah, they’re totally dating now, you should have seen them together, and the atmosphere was so lovey-dovey.” Lavender said smiling all the way, “Hey, Trixie, don’t forget to invite me to your wedding” She laughed aloud at how Trixie got red from the thought.
After this whole fiasco, the girls decided to go to Lavender’s house, because all of their music gear was there. They always liked hanging out after school, practicing as a band or just watching movies together. However, today was a music day, and they decided to practice whole day. Trixie got tired of singing and her voice was hoarse. Besides, it was getting quite late, nearing 6 P.M., so she was heading home.
Today was a quite a day and Trixie was really tired, her legs were heavy from all the walking. She decided to visit a convenience store, buy some snacks.
Walking in the shopping center, she looked at various stores, nothing catching her eye, though as she crossed the street she noticed one particular girl that she met earlier. It was Fuchsia’s sister, Wallflower! However, she was not alone, she was walking with some other girl and it was Fluttershy. “Maybe they’re friends?” Trixie thought, she tried not to stare but she couldn’t help herself, so she lingered there for a moment or two.
Unfortunately for Trixie, Wallflower caught her staring, Trixie immediately looked away and acted as if she didn’t see Wallflower, she continued walking down the road towards her home. “Hmm, for a split second there I think Wallflower looked startled” Trixie heard a loud gasp, she looked around and noticed that Wallflower was chasing after her, and the look she had on her face was quite angry.
“What?” Now it was Trixie’s turn to be startled, she didn’t know why but Wallflower was pissed and she didn’t want to know why. Trixie turned around and started running for her life, away from Wallflower.
Wallflower was running like a lunatic, gasping for breath. Trixie was sweating and looking behind her to check if she really was the object of Wallflower’s anger. “Aaaaah!” Trixie couldn’t help but scream, Wallflower was gaining speed and almost reached Trixie once.
“Why?! Why are you chasing me?!” Trixie was scared and she was confused, but Wallflower didn’t reply she was just running towards Trixie trying to catch her.
They were running and running, passing by every shop, adrenaline pumping their hearts. Trixie was quite a runner, she rivaled Rainbow Dash in this kind of competition, but when there’s someone chasing you, it kinda gets harder to run that way. Trixie got exhausted pretty quickly and so was Wallflower.
“What is going on?! I-I can’t take this any longer! Somebody help me!” Trixie’s mind was in disarray, her throat was burning, her stomach hurt and her legs were aching from such an extreme exercise.
Soon enough, they were out of fuel, and both of them have slowed down, almost jogging. Now they were passing the bridge, Trixie was actually almost home. Sweat was dripping from Trixie’s forehead and towards her eyes, she was gasping for breath forcing herself to walk. And so was Wallflower, completely exhausted but still trying to get Trixie.
Trixie was out of breath, she slowed down and crawled to the side of the bridge, leaning on the handrail of the bridge and heavily breathing trying to catch her breath.
Wallflower passed Trixie by moving a bit further, she slowed down when she realized that she passed her by. Heavily breathing and gasping for breath, she swallowed and approached Trixie. She turned her around and roughly grabbed her by the hoodie with both hands.
“Ah!” Trixie exclaimed when she saw Wallflower’s face, but she was powerless to do anything, so she succumbed to her faith.
Wallflower took a deep breath and yelled while shaking Trixie with both hands “She’s just a classmate! It’s not what you think!”
Trixie was dumbfounded, tears forming in her eyes, sweat dripping down her cheeks. “… What?”
There was a dead and awkward silence between them after this revelation. The silence was disturbed by Trixie’s laughing, her laugh was gradually rising, and Wallflower didn’t know how to react so she just waited for Trixie to calm down.
After calming down, Trixie said “O-okay… Ha ha, I’m… I’m gonna go home, Wallflowey. S-See you tomorrow” She managed a small wave and headed home while chuckling about Wallflower’s antics.
“O-oh, okay, goodbye, Trixie…” Wallflower waved at Trixie and headed in the opposite direction “… Wallflowey?”
…
It was around 7 P.M. by the time Trixie arrived home. She opened the door and was met with a pleasant scent of a tasty meal. Taking off her boots, she went to the guest room where her mother was sitting on the couch and drinking tea.
“Hello, Mom” Trixie said her voice was hoarse; she approached her mother and hugged her.
“Oh my, Trixie, sweetie what’s wrong with your voice?” Sunflower looked worried that Trixie got sick. Then she ended the hug and looked at her daughter. “Wait a minute, is that a flower tucked behind your ear?”
“Oh, geez, I totally forgot about it” Trixie panicked and her voice was hoarse when she tried to salvage this embarrassing situation “N-no it’s not”, she took the flower in her hand and hid it behind her, it was futile to deny that there in fact was a dark violet flower. She blushed too, just a little.
“Is my little angel dating some boy, huh?” Sunflower teased Trixie while smiling innocently
“No she’s not! Trixie is not dating any boy!” Trixie took her mother’s teacup and drank the hot beverage to calm her down.
“Ah, there’s that third speech you never use at home… Hmm” Sunflower wondered, while Trixie turned away trying to ignore her mom’s teasing. “Is that a girl then?”
Trixie choked on the tea she drank, she coughed spilling the hot drink on her hoodie. “*cough* M-mom! *more coughing*”
Sunflower went to the kitchen, returned with some tissues, and wiped wet stains on Trixie’s hoodie “So, is that a yes?” She continued teasing Trixie.
“Ugh, you’re just unbearable. A-anyways, Trixie is hungry. What’s for dinner?” Trixie asked, trying to change the subject but to be honest, she was actually hungry.
“There’s a freshly baked meat pie. I’ll brew some tea and you can tell me everything about your girlfriend,” Sunflower said picking up her teacup and going into the kitchen.
“Sure… I’d love to…” Trixie said with a tired expression “This teasing won’t end” Trixie went upstairs and picked up a thick book; she opened it in the middle and put the flower inside. Inspecting it closer she enjoyed its beauty for a while. The flower had a dark violet texture with bright purple highlights on the edges of its petals. Trixie didn’t know the name of this flower, but it was now her favorite one.
Closing the book she hugged it, “I will cherish this flower”
After that was done, she went downstairs to meet her doom of a conversation. This will be bad she thought. Trixie loved her mother dearly; she was caring, understanding and most certainly loving. Trixie always felt needed and loved, she was always happy when she was with her mother… But, Sunflower always found a way to tease Trixie, because she found her daughter to be extremely cute when teased.
They sat in silence as Trixie slowly ate her piece of pie and carefully drinking her tea, her throat still sore from all the choking and coughing.
“So…” Sunflower began speaking.
Trixie slammed the cup and started speaking everything in one go “Okay! Her name is Wallflower Blush, she is Fuchsia’s sister, she is really nice and yes she gave me that flower. Ha! Now you can’t tease me, I’ve beat you to it.” Trixie had a smug face claiming her victory
Sunflower wasn’t surprised by this outburst, she got up from the chair and went into the living room.
“Mom? Where are you going?...” Trixie was confused by each passing second as her mother left the kitchen.
But, soon enough the woman in question returned. However, not with empty hands, she carried a photo album. Sunflower quickly searched through the album and stopped at one particular page, “Oh, there you are”. She showed the page to Trixie and pointed to one picture where a small 9-year old Trixie was wearing a wizard hat and a cape, beside her stood a timid girl with short green hair and freckles; also, there was a bow of red ribbon in her hair. “Is that her?” Sunflower asked pointing at the girl with the red ribbon.
Trixie could only stare in silence, her mouth moving but not making any sound. “I-is that? W-where did you get that photo?”
“Oh, I remember the 3rd grade; you were performing your very own disappearing frog trick, your classmates were so excited that some of them wanted to take picture with you. Wallflower was one of them,” Sunflower recalled this moment beaming with happiness.
Trixie blushed at this revelation “I-I’ll take this photo”
“I’m so glad my little flower finally bloomed” Sunflower smiled
“Mom! Don’t say it like that, it’s embarrassing! Anyway, I’ll go to my room” Trixie took the photo and went upstairs. “T-thanks for the meal…”
…
She went to the bathroom and took a nice hot shower, after so much running today, she was quite sweaty. She sighed in pleasure as hot water rained down upon her body.
After half an hour of enjoying the shower, Trixie dried herself and changed her clothes. She took out her phone and selected Wallflower’s contact, instead of calling her; she decided to write a text message because of her hoarse voice. Even If she had a normal voice, she wouldn’t call her, she would be too nervous to say anything. Lying down in her bed, she wrote a quick message.
“Hiya, Wallflower, It’s me Trixie ^^”
While she was waiting for Wallflower’s reply she thought about her. It’s funny that she didn’t meet her earlier, they were going to the same school, what are the chances, huh? Yeah, they don’t share any classes, but Trixie would totally notice such a cute girl. She recalled their conversation about this with her friends.
“Well, you were too full of yourself to notice anybody” Fuchsia said.
“That’s true.” Lavender casually added smiling innocently.
“Wait, isn’t she like your sister? We hung out a lot of times at your place, I’ve never seen her there,” Trixie said, pointing a finger at Fuchsia
“Wallflower is kinda shy and she spends all the time at her garden, what are the odds, huh?” Fuchsia said with a thoughtful expression.
“It’s still weird that I didn’t meet her at some point” Trixie wondered.
Her phone beeped taking her attention; she looked at the phone and saw that she received a new message.
“Hello, Trixie c:” Trixie smiled and quickly replied with another text message.
“Hey, why haven’t we met before? We do go to the same school, and I’m your sister’s best friend.” Trixie decided to be straightforward about this subject.
“…I’ve known you since 3rd grade…” Wallflower replied with a terse message, Trixie felt a nagging feeling in her guts.
“I know that, but I kinda forgot about you… for a while… sorry. I’ve never seen you at the school, though” Trixie was quite self-centered and egotistic in her childhood, maybe more than now.
“It’s ok; I never really tried to talk to you, well, I-I was avoiding you…”
“Huh? Why did you avoid me?” Trixie replied, surprised by this fact.
“Well, you were always center of everyone’s attention, as if on stage, and I’m not fond of unnecessary attention. However, I do admire your beauty and your bright personality, it’s kinda cute. I couldn’t overcome my will to come and talk to you when everybody’s watching…” Wallflower’s reply was genuine, Trixie smiled at this revelation.
“She thinks I’m cute!” Trixie blushed at the thought as she quickly wrote down a reply “Do you wanna hang out sometimes?”
“Sure, I’d love to, we can meet at my garden, I always tend to it on Fridays”
Trixie smiled at Wallflower’s reply. Tomorrow is Friday Trixie thought, she does not partake in any club activities, so she is free tomorrow.
“It will be great! See you tomorrow then”
…
They chatted some more until the night. Wishing her newfound interest a good night, she started preparing for the sleep. However, before that, Trixie walked to her table and picked up her childhood photo of little Trixie and Wallflower. She opened her sketchbook and glued the picture on first page that she left empty, she wanted to draw something cool there but she never got the right idea, the picture was nice though.
After that it was done, Trixie brushed her teeth, changed to her pajamas with star print and tucked herself into bed.
She thought about her eventful day recalling her embarrassing but successful fiasco. Trixie blushed while thinking about Wallflower, her thoughts wandering to the dangerous zone. She turned in her bed and tightly hugged her pillow, desperately trying to fall asleep.
