A Mane 6 Hearts and Hooves Dayby Nocturnalis StoryhartChaptersThe Tea PartyThe Best Day Ever (Part 1)The Best Day Ever (Part 2)The Tea PartyAuthor's Note This is set a few months after Twilight's coronation The Tea Party So the Mane 6 were just having a tea party, just talking about everyday things. "So Twilight, how are your duties coming along?" Rarity asked "They are doing just fine. Recently the Diamond Dogs have been, uh, better. We're still working on that." Twilight replied. Applejack chuckled. "So what is happening with the rest of y'all?" "Wonder bolt training is awesome as usual" Rainbow dash cheered "Yeah! It seems that Ponyville is catching up on five years worth of parties. It has been so busy." Pinkie chimed in. "Business is booming right along." Rarity agreed. "My fashions are in high demand. What about you AJ?" ''Oh just the usual farm work. Plus mah brother and is new bride are settling in. How about you Flutters?" "The animal sanctuary is doing better than ever! Discord is even helping, and I am so, so, proud of him." Fluttershy absolutely beamed. "Speaking of Discord, How is he?" Twilight casually asked. "Oh, he is doing just wonderful. Like I said, he is help around the sanctuary, and doing regular Discord things. We still write to each other, and Tuesday tea is a must." Fluttershy answered. "You sound like you are having a lot of fun" Rarity pointed out. "Oh we are." Fluttershy replied "So, anything special happening between you two." Rarity asked suspiciously. "I don't quite understand?" Fluttershy replied curiously "What she is trying to ask is that are you and Discord actually having a more serious relationship than just friends? Personally I am quite curious myself" Pinkie Pie explained. Every pony nodded, and then looked at Fluttershy waiting for a response. Which they all kinda hoped would be that something indeed was happening between Fluttershy and Discord. Fluttershy blushed. "Uhh, well we are best friends is for sure, but anything else... we are both figuring things out." "Aww" the rest said. Some thought it was cute, while other were just a bit disappointed. They had hoped that she would have given the answer that they were together, but it wasn't. "So, um, what about you guys? Uh, Rarity? What's going on in your life?" Fluttershy asked trying to turn the direct focus off her. "Well, business is booming. Lots of orders coming and out for my fabulous fashions. Sweetie belle is trying out singing at open mic all over town. And, I personally am doing quite well, although a little stressed." "What about your love life?" Rainbow Dash asked? "You were bugging Fluttershy about it, so how about telling us what is going on in yours?" "Well, there is someone, but, does it really matter?" "Oh, Lets try the guessing game!" Pinkie chimed in. "So we each one guess on who Rarity is with. And in response Rarity can say if we are right, wrong, or on the right track of thought. Rainbow dash, since you brought this up, why don't you go first?" "I'm thinking some stallion she met in Canterlot, or on one of her business trips. Some pony we haven't met yet." Dash guessed. "Well, it was on a long road trip, that we bonded. He was quite the gentleman." Applejack giggled "Last time ah heard, you was with Spike in a happy and steady relationship" Rarity blushed as the other girls giggled. "Nothing of the sorts" Rarity said trying to get the others to stop giggling with her. "Is it Fancy Pants" Twilight asked? "TWILIGHT! Heavens no! Darling, he is a respected citizen I would be proud to call my father, not my boyfriend!" Rarity cried out. The others just burst out laughing. "Uh... Trenderhoof?" Pinkie tried through her giggles. "Or maybe Blue Blood" "Pinkie, that was a one week faze, not a life commitment." Rarity said dismissively. "And Blue Blood was a rude, arrogant toerag. Fluttershy, your turn. So who do you think I'm with? "Please get this right Flutters, I'm dying to know who miss fashionista is going steady with," Rainbow dash said. " Hmm." Fluttershy thought. She was trying to put the clues together. Road trip. It had to be someone the others knew, or Rainbow dash would have been on the right track of someone they had never met. Not Spike. Is a gentleman... " It's Capper isn't it? When we went on the long road trip to Klugetown to save Equestria." Fluttershy said. "Is that your final guess?" Pinkie drum rolled. ""Yes" Fluttershy replied. "Darling, you are correct." Rarity sighed with defeat. The others cheered. "Great Job Fluttershy!" Rainbow Dash cheered. "Now that is over, Rainbow dash, I believe it's your turn to tell us about your love life." Rarity said, passing the torch of direct attention to Rainbow Dash. The others now went quiet, and turned their whole and undivided attention unto Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash had not expected this, and was trying to think of a good lie. But she didn't want to do that, and she didn't want another guessing game of wrong turns, where others might laugh. So she decided on a version of the truth. "I am currently taking my time. Not any pony specific yet, but there are some possibilities. I'm in no big rush, and am currently hanging out with fellow Wonderbolts. She said kinda honestly. And eyeing the others, just daring them to laugh. ""Sounds like kinda honest to me. Maybe left out some finer details, but overall, sounds truthful." Applejack said after she had apparently studied Rainbow Dash's answer. "Well, you are the element of honesty, so if you say it's honest, it must be." Pinkie Pie reminded every pony. "And I'm sure she will be honest about her love life" Rainbow Dash said. "Uh..." AJ started "There is not really much of anything going on between me anyone. Ah tried a couple of dates with that Carmel character, and it just didn't last. Ah tried Flim or Flam, but in the end of both cases, Ah ended up paying for our date. So that stopped with them. Ah really don't date that much. If the right pony comes along, then that will be just fine. If not, Ah will still be fine." "You sound really contempt anywhere don't you?" Twilight asked. "Boy, I sure wish I had that confidence of 'everything will turn out just right' attitude." " Well, where are yuh at in the game of love" Applejack asked? "Well, like you, I also don't get very many dates. I even tried a dating service, but it turned up nothing." "Darling, I find that hard to believe that you of all ponies don't get very many dates. I mean, who wouldn't want to date an alicorn princess?"Rarity asked. "Well, maybe it is a case of being worshiped from afar." Rarity finished with a sigh. "Yeah. Maybe." Twilight also said with a sigh. "Twilight, I could help you find some pony" Pinkie chimed in. "I'm an expert on these kind of things" "Well, what about your love life Pinkie? You can't put that on hold for me." Twilight said "That might be true if I did have one. Even though I am a party pony, I don't date at all. I guess I never wanted to. Although, I did go on this one... or this other twice... But it is no big deal." "I'm curious now. Who were they with? Where did you go? Did you like them? What happened?" Rainbow Dash bombarded Pinkie with questions. "Uh, How about we play truth or dare?" Fluttershy asked. "Great idea!" Rainbow dash said, now having forgotten all about Pinkie Pie's love life for the moment. "Just a quick reminder on the rules really quickly" Twilight started. "So we first get in a circle, and the pony on the right of the pony that is being asked, has to ask truth or dare, and which ever one is chosen, they have to think of something to go along with it. If a truth is picked, the initiator ask the recipient a question, in where the recipient has to answer truthfully. If a dare is chosen, then the same rules for truth, except a dare is thought of, and the recipient has to carry it out. We each get 4 turns, and the initiator can get help from the other players if they can't think of something. Any questions?" "No. So let's get started. I'll go first." Rainbow dash said speedily. "Okay, so we are now in a circle. Applejack you are on the right, so you get to ask for Rainbow dash." "Okay. Rainbow dash truth or..." Applejack started "Dare!" Rainbow dash shouted. "Okay. Ah dare ya to a bake off with Pinkie pie." Applejack said. "And without any help, plus Ah get to choose what yah get to make. You have to make a ham dinner, with two sides, and a dessert. Yah have 3 hours to make it. On yah marks, get set... GO!" And they were off. Pinkie and Rainbow dash raced out to Sugar Cube corner to begin the bake off. The timer had begun. And all the rest could see were two clouds of dust where the contestants had stood only moments before " Wow AJ, that was actually a really good dare. I'm curious to see who will win." Twilight said "Well, Ah personally am betting 10 bits that Pinkie wins. Rainbow dash is only doing this to show off. She doesn't want to get her pride down." Applejack smirked. "Darling, very good dare and all, but we just lost two of our best contestants, and this game might get a little dull." Rarity said with much concern. "Don't ya get your mane in a frazzle, we can have just as good of a time here. So Rarity, yah get to ask me now." Applejack said with a slight chuckle. "Okay. Truth or Dare?" Rarity asked. "Truth" AJ chose. "Even though you aren't dating any pony right now, is there some one you want to, or have fantasized about before?" Now Applejack got into a bit of a blush, "Now Rarity maybe we could choose something else..." "Applejack, the rule clearly state that if truth is chosen you..." Twilight started to quote the rules. "Ah know, Ah know. The player has to answer the question honestly." Applejack said, finishing the quoting. "It's just that it is kinda of embarrassing. And I really don't want this to get out." "Applejack, we wouldn't make fun of you because of who you like." Fluttershy reassured her. "We are still your friends." "Plus dear, if we know, maybe we could help your fantasy date become a reality. After all, Hearts and Hooves day is only a few days away." Rarity added. Now Applejack was thinking. She was the element of honesty, but this was the one thing she could never be honest about. She lied about it even to her self. But then again her friends were here, and maybe they could actually help. And the two that might tease her were 5 miles away baking. She took a deep breath... "Ah..." She looked away from the others down to the floor. Applejack continued. "Ah have had a fantasy about what dating Spike would be like. And maybe a little more than just a date." She said in a low voice, while staring at the floor. "Oh AJ, that's so adorable!" Fluttershy said. "It's embarrassing!" Applejack said quite louder now looking at the others. But she was smiling and had a blush on her cheeks. "Uh, Applejack, when we were playing the guessing game, didn't you say you had heard that I was in a relationship with Spike?" "Yup. That is one of the reasons Ah never spoke up before. I thought he was going with you. If Ah had said anything, it would have gotten him all confused. And Ah didn't want to stress him, especially in that way. Another reason was Ah'm pretty sure that he still likes yah even if yah are going with someone else. Or maybe he has moved on. Ah hear maybe he might be going with Gabby the Griffin. But even if he isn't, Ah'm still worried that it would ruin any friendship we have got. Things might get awkward. And right now, Ah feel like a blithering idiot." Applejack said with a sigh. "Well, at least you sound like you have a general idea on what you want in life, and someone to focus on directly. Even if it isn't the way that you exactly want at this point. Yet." Twilight said. "What do yah mean by 'yet'?" Applejack asked "Well, maybe it is like a story." Twilight began. "In the story there is a beautiful princess, and a certain servant falls for her. She sees him just as a really good friend. And later, the princess falls for really nice man. He isn't exactly royalty, but he is still a gentleman. Now this is going on while the servant is trying to find ways for the Princess to like him back the same way he does her. But all the while, the servant boy has an old friend; a county girl who has been his best friend all his life. She secretly likes him, but doesn't say anything because she knows how he feels about the princess. Plus she doesn't feel that she could ever compare, or that maybe she isn't good enough. Through out the years, even though it is against her own heart, she helps her friend try to win the princess's heart. She bakes pies, sets up picnics, writes poems, so on and so forth. And all this time he doesn't she her as anything more than a really good friend. But times passes, and whether he is broken due to his love being with someone else, or he finally realizes that his true love is his best friend, they end up together. And they live happily ever after!" Twilight finished with a dreamy sigh. Her eyes lost into a daydream of the story she had just told. But after a few moments, she seem to have back to reality. "So, there you have it." She concluded, "Uh Twi, that is a wonderful story and all, but that is a little far fetched for me. Not to mention..." Applejack had started "Not to mention what?" another voice said as the door to the throne room opened. It was Spike. Applejack saw him, and accidentally dropped her tea spoon on the floor, and went bent over to pick it up. But it was kinda hard to do with your hooves. "How long have you been listening to us?" Twilight asked him. "Not very long. I was just bringing in some more refreshments, when I heard you telling a story. I guess I came in a little late though. I caught the part where this guy, who ever he is, has a best friend who helps him a lot, lost his true love, and he in turn realized that he actually loved his best friend instead. Then the big finish of course. Then, I came in..." He paused. "Uh, Applejack, what are you doing on the floor?" "Just looking for mah spoon Spike. Dropped it." She replied. "Oh, this one?" He said showing her one he had picked up only moments before. "Yeah. Where did yuh find it?" Applejack asked. " Oh, it was over here. Here you go." He said, and he gave her back the spoon. "Thanks very much Spike" Sher said with a kind smile. "Oh, it was nothing." He said with a dismissive wave. Her then turned to the others. "So, what are you guys up to?" "Telling stories." Fluttershy replied. Applejack knew she had fibbed a bit, but only to save her the embarrassment. That part could wait for Hearts and Hooves day. "Where is Rainbow Dash and Pinkie Pie?" he asked while looking at their empty thrones. "Well, we were playing truth or dare. But Applejack did a dare that lost us two of our players. And the very first one too. " Rarity kinda pouted, but she then continued on. "Anyway, we then decided to ask questions, and Twilight came up with the idea to tell stories. Hers, that you the ending of, was the first." "Well, what is going on in your lives? Beside Twilight. I live with her, so her day is basically mine. Applejack? How about you?" "Well, just usual farm work, plus helping Sugar Belle get settled in. It has only been a short while since her and Big Man got together. And they just returned from their honeymoon in Fillydalphia a couple of weeks ago. So, just helping get things back to normal. Apple bloom has been doing more crusading with her friends, plus helping Zecora out as well with potions." Applejack said in her normal 'I'm fine and everything is normal voice' when in reality her heart was beating like a war drum. He had asked her first about her life. Not even Rarity first. She kept a cool exterior, while her mind was doing cartwheels. "And you Rarity?" He asked in a normal voice. Applejack figured out that he might be over her, or he was hiding something like she was. Disguising it. "Business is booming, Sweetie Belle is doing open mics all over town, and I am currently dating Capper. You remember him? "Yeah. The cat in Klugetown. Got it. How about you Fluttershy? Discord finally softening up?" He asked with a sort of sly smile. "The animal sanctuary is doing just fine. Discord is helping out. And he is being his normal friendly self. Plus he is spreading out. Making new friends. Usually among the animals though. He seems to be getting better with them everyday. Even Angel Bunny and him seem to have made a truce. So, I am very proud. "Keep working at it Fluttershy. He'll break sooner or later. The big softie." "I heard that" A voice said that seemed to be coming from a pink cupcake on the refreshment platter Spike had brought. It floated over to Fluttershy, who grabbed the wrapping with both hooves. Then a flash of light. Discord appeared right next to Fluttershy. "Just to save questions, I got here when Spike did. I was trying out a new recipe at Sugar Cube Corner, when all the ingredients I needed just vanished with a pink blur. I guessed Pinkie, and due to what I've heard, I seem to have been right once again" Discord said, and with that, poofed a strawberry from the refreshment tray into his mouth. And another onto Fluttershy's cupcake. "Thanks Discord." Fluttershy said. Before taking a big bite out of the cupcake. "No problem my dear." Discord replied, momentarily stroking his paw through her hair before turning to the others. "So, Spike, even though you say your day is Twilight's, there has to be some variety. So what do you do different? Or are you really her clone? "Well, I did have some time to read a Power Pony comic book, take a nap, and get together some refreshments. I finished writing a letter to Gabby my new pen pal, and sorted my gems." He said. "And you? What else have you been up to beside the animal sanctuary?" He asked Discord. "I have been in my chaos realm for a time, plus I have been helping other ponies get ready for Hearts and Hooves day. Plus thinking of a few of my own gimmicks for the day. Twilight, anything interesting happening for you, or your family at least?" He asked. "Well, Hearts and Hooves day is going to be quite busy for Cadence. Princess of Love after all. Shining Armor will be babysitting Flurry Heart until the afternoon. Then she will be headed over to the Cakes place to play with Pound and Pumpkin while Cadence and Shining Armor will be going out on a date. And I really do not know what I will be doing that day. Except Cadence did set me up on a blind date. So I guess I'll have to wait and see what will happen" Twilight responded "Interesting." Discord said, as he bit into a apple and poofed a chair next to Fluttershy. "So what will the rest of you be doing for Hearts and Hooves day?" Twilight asked. "I will be selling some of my fashions during the morning for any last minute request. The afternoon is still uncertain, but I will be going out with Capper that night." Rarity said. "I will be doing an adoption charity drive for part of the day. 10:00 to 3:00. The animals are so very excited. Plus Discord is helping out too. The rest of the day is not entirely planned to all detail, but I am helping Discord get the feel of the Holiday." Fluttershy exclaimed. ''Ah really do not have any plans at his point in time. Maybe Ah'll just hang with one of you guys for a while." Applejack said putting her two cents worth in. And hoping that a certain somebody had gotten the message of her being free that day. "Well, like she said before, I will be helping Fluttershy with the animal adoption. I might see about match making, maybe a kissing booth. And spending the rest of the day with my best friend." Discord said. And with that, he put his arm around Fluttershy. She just smiled, and listened to the others. "I really do not have any plans either." Spike said. "May end up relaxing the whole day, or spend the majority of the day doing stuff around Ponyville." "Hmm." Rarity said as she seemed to be thinking intensely. And she was. She was had gotten the cryptic message Applejack had been trying to tell Spike unspoken. She was going to play match maker this day, and hoped that this worked. She spoke up a few moments later. "I just had a wonderful idea." "Yeah?" the others said. "Spike, Applejack" She said addressing them both, "You both seem to not be doing much on Hearts and Hooves day. So how about instead of just wandering around all day by yourselves, how about doing it with a friend at least? You can keep each other company. Two friends just spending the day together. What do you think?" She asked both of them. ""You know what Rarity, that might actually be a good idea." Applejack said in a convincing 'I'm surprised but that is a possible good idea' tone of voice. But really she was also hoping that this would work. Rarity must have gotten her message accidentally, but used that, and had spit out this seemingly random and innocent idea. When in reality it was a planned idea to match make. But she wasn't complaining. This was exactly what she needed to try and work things out with Spike. "I think it is a good idea as well. It beats spending the day alone." Spike said. In his head it did sound like a good idea. Just spending the day with a friend doing whatever. Yeah. Totally harmless. A buzzer than went off with a racket. And two blurs raced into the throne room. It was Rainbow Dash and Pinkie. Apparently, when the others had been yaking all this time, the three hours had come and gone. So the dare was complete. "So, yah have both completed your ham dinner, two sides, and dessert? No matter, put what yuh have on the table over there and we will taste test it all to see who won." Applejack said to the two contestants. The nodded, and did what they were told. Pinkie had made lasagna and a Cesar salad for her sides, with a chocolate cake for dessert. Rainbow Dash had made Mac and cheese, burritos, and rice krispies with a marshmallow caramel dipping sauce. Both hams were made. After the taste test, it was decided that Pinkie has the best ham, desert, and side. Although Rainbow Dash's burritos did beat out Pinkie's lasagna. And the dare was complete. Not to mention every pony was stuffed. Pinkie And Rainbow dash had each tried each others as well. So, dinner was no longer necessary. "So, what did we miss?" Rainbow dash asked? "Not much, to be honest." Applejack said. "After yah left, Rarity pointed out that truth or dare might be a little boring with out you guys, so we in turn started to talk. Twilight told us a story, Spike joined us, Discord popped in, and we have just been talking." "So, what did you guys talk about?" Pinkie asked. "Our plans for Hearts and Hooves day." Fluttershy responded. "Twilight is going on a blind date that Cadence set her up on. Applejack didn't have any plans, and neither did Spike, so they are now just going to hang around for the day. At least they won't be by themselves. Rarity is going on a date with Capper. And I'm doing an animal adoption for 10:00 to 3:00, with Discords help. And Discord is getting the feel of the Holiday. What about you two?" "Well, me and a friend from the Wonderbolts are just going to chill out for the day, kinda like Applejack and Spike. Then later, I have a big Wonderbolt show to do for Hearts and Hooves day." Rainbow dash replied. "And I am going to be even busier with parties more than usual." Pinkie Pie said "Well, Ah hope everything goes well. For every pony." Applejack said. Every pony agreed. "Wow, it is 9:00 already." Twilight pointed out. "I guess this means that we should be going home. Hearts and Hooves day is only a few days away. And we should all get out sleep." Fluttershy said. And every pony now was leaving. Each of them, each with their own thoughts. _______________(*O*)_______________ Discord teleported Fluttershy home. And she was thinking how lucky she was to have a friend like Discord. She could hardly wait to spend Hearts and Hooves day with him. And Discord was thinking the same thing. Plus of a plan that he was going to be into action in a few days. He had always wanted to do a certain something, and he knew this would be the perfect time to do so. Just a few more days, and things would fall into place. He just hoped that this wouldn't ruin what he had with Fluttershy at the moment. He might not go through with the entire plan just in case; even if it meant they stayed just friends forever... _______________(*O*)_______________ Spike took it upon himself to walk Applejack home. He was excited to see what you Hearts and Hooves day could offer. He didn't quite know how it would turn out, and he was kinda nervous, but that wasn't going to stop him from possibly having the best day ever. He did sort of like Applejack. Maybe not in that exact way, but he did like her, just a little. He was over Rarity, as they had both moved on to bigger and better things, for both of them. He didn't know the future exactly, but he was going to go with the flow, and see what would happen. As he did have a feeling that something, just something was around the corner. There was something about that story he had over heard Twilight tell the others that made him think twice for some odd reason... Applejack in the meanwhile didn't know what to think. She was personally thanking Rarity in her head for her supposed random idea. Maybe it was for the best that a couple of her close friends knew her little secret and fantasy, as they could help. This upcoming Hearts and Hooves day was a perfect example of that. She was a little nervous. Okay, really nervous. But she knew that she would embarrass herself sooner or later. She needed to get it out sooner or later. Probably sooner, as that would relieve her the stress of worrying if this could ever work. If it wasn't meant to be, she would heal up eventually. But if it was, well then she would be really thankful for those encouraging nudges from her friends. Anyway she would finally know what was to be, and was what not to be, in just a few days. _______________(*O*)_______________ Pinkie was headed home that night. She had decided to walk with Rainbow dash since there homes were in the same direction. They didn't really talk that much. But they were saying a lot in their minds; just to themselves of course. Pinkie was really looking forward to this Hearts and Hooves day. She had a secret date on she knew about, and who it was with, obviously. But no one else did. It isn't that she didn't trust any pony, it was just that they had both decided to keep their relationship a secret for now. They just didn't want it exactly public. And if even just a few ponies knew, it might get out really fast that the super-duper party planner had a boyfriend. And that might mean not very much privacy. It was already hard to see each other because she was so busy most of the time, so every moment was precious. But hey, it was going to have to get out eventually. It was just a point of delaying that certain point to a little bit of a later date. Then they could go out publicly. Once they were good and ready. Who knew that the super loud and confident member of the Mane 6 was actually in a way more shy when it came to her love life. Well, it was going to be a very interesting next couple of weeks. Rainbow dash on the other hand was thinking about earlier that day. She hadn't told the others exactly the whole truth. But she needed to keep maybe just one or two things private. Even the brave, confident, cool Rainbow dash couldn't have her whole life spread out for her fans. It was really hard to believe that she had a more exciting love life than Pinkie or Applejack. Or Twilight for that matter. But maybe it was just that they might be holding back things as well. The only other one who seemed to be doing much of anything, and had actually said something about it, was Rarity. So it had been sort of a surprise. But yet again, it seemed that maybe Pinkie wasn't that bad off. And Applejack was just content with her life right now. Maybe she try again once Big Mac's bride had settled in a bit more. And Fluttershy seemed to be trying to figure out Discord, and she personally knew that could take a life time. So maybe not a real big rush there either. And who knows. Maybe this blind date set up for Twilight would actually work out for her purple princess pal at last. Anyway she was going to enjoy the big day with her secret friend, and that was all she would do. _______________(*O*)_______________ Rarity had walked home, just got a few last supplies for anything she would need to make for Hearts and Hooves day. She was looking forward to her date that on Hearts and Hooves day. Maybe something special. She was also thinking on what she had done to hopefully help get Spike and Applejack together. She just hoped she had done the right thing. At least they would get to spend the day together. She just hoped for the best. For every pony. _______________(*O*)_______________ Twilight was finishing cleaning up the castle. She was glad to hear what was going on in her friends lives. She had found out a lot of things tonight she had never known. Like the fact that Rainbow dash made killer burritos. They had been delicious. Maybe it wasn't so surprising for Rarity to be going steady with someone. She did seem like the type of pony that would have an active love life. Fluttershy and Discord. Hmm. Maybe that was a little more obvious the previously realized. Applejack had a crush on Twilight's cute assistant She had never known this, and she wondered for how long it had been going on. Oh well, that answer could wait for a later date. But moving on from the thought of her little brother and the farm girl. Pinkie Pie also didn't do any dating. "Well, she does have all of Ponyville, and beyond, instead" she thought to herself. Personally, she was very nervous for this blind date that Cadence had set up for her. But all she could get out of her sister-in-law was that she had thought long and hard about this. Plus she had a distant memory that had helped her with this selection. Experience had told her not to expect to much, but she was excited, even if she didn't want to admit it. She would just go with the flow, and see what would happen. _______________(*O*)_______________ Each of the Mane six have started their life's of very nicely. But a few of them have secrets that they hide. What will happen? Read on to find out. The Best Day Ever (Part 1)So four days have passed, and Hearts and Hooves day is finally here. And all ponies and creatures are excited. A day to have fun with loved ones, a personal holiday. But this was especially true for the Mane 6. They all had big plans or not, but not all had gone into details of what the day would have in store for them. A few of them have kept a few secrets, as they don't know, or maybe do have a general idea on what would happen, if their secrets were revealed. So when we last left off, the Mane six had gone home from the tea party at Twilight's Castle, and were going about their day... _______________(*O*)_______________ Rarity was starting off her day finishing selling dresses, fabric, tuxedos, and anything else she normally would, to the last of the last minute Hearts and hooves day shoppers. While she was selling, if the customers had any questions on what to do for their Hearts and Hooves day plan, she would help to give advice when needed. She had been very busy that morning, as some of her friends had dropped in like regular customers as well. Rarity had a few backup personalized dresses/outfits in case her friends would need them. Applejack had come in first when the shop had opened around 7:00 am. She went to ask surprisingly for a dress. Nothing fancy of course, just a simple, but nice dress; with a little country air to it. Applejack had been kinds worried that Rarity wouldn't have anything exactly the way she wanted, but she almost face hoofed herself once she seen the dress that Rarity already had ready and waiting. Of course Rarity would have something that would suit her. She was after all the dressy/fashionable one of the Mane 6. The dress had a white chest, with upturned short sleeves. A green piece of fabric tied in a knot, with a red apple in front was around the neck, and it had the two fabric ends below the apple. The waist was an earthy brown with three sunflowers. One was big, taking up a whole spot, while the other two were above it, quite smaller. The train was a simple, but elegant blonde the same as the cowgirl's mane. Finished off with a sunflower to cover one ear. Applejack hugged her friend in thanks, and left with the certainty that she would never doubt her generous friend's ability to whip up the perfect dress ever again. Fluttershy had been in quite some rush when she came in a couple of hours later at 9:00 o clock that morning. She had needed a dress; the reason she hadn't specified. Rarity provided her a simple, but pretty dress. The collar was a dark forest with lime green leaves, fastened to the front of her neck with a small pink butterfly. The train of the dress had the same leaves, falling down on the edges. While the rest of the back was an ocean blue; the bottom having sparkles. Fluttershy thanked her, and left very speedily so she would be in time to start her animal adoption charity. Pinkie pie came in right after Fluttershy had left, about 10 minutes after. She needed a really fun, but nice dress for a small party. Rarity had one whipped and ready to go. It had yellow circles at the neckline, with a two color shade blue balloon in the middle. It had a pink chest, with a lighter pink and red poofy arms that ended both in a blue bow. A pink half sleeve came down from it. The waist was a darker pink, that connected the rest of the dress to a colorful balloon pattern. A white fluffy edging was there as well as a big pink bow at her tail. This was finished off with simple lace up blue shoes. She had also provided a small set of yellow balloon earrings. Pinkie had then given her friend a big hug, and then bounced out the door. Twilight came in a hour later. She too needed a dress for her blind date that night. Rarity had a couple of dresses for this. Twilight settled for one that had a gold chest bearing her cutie mark, and yellow ruffle sleeves. A pink back, that had three rows of differently colored beads. The first was white, the second gold, and the third was a deep red. The train was a pale yellow, the color of Fluttershy's coat. The yellow connected to a light pink which flowed into a few more shade of pink, and was then finished with a violet ruffled bottom. Four gold shoes with her cutie mark, adorned her hooves. Twilight was thankful to her friend, and left to go spread friendship/love with her partner in crime; namely the very pony who had set up the blind date in the first place, Cadence. Finally the tomboyish Rainbow Dash came in around 11:30. She need something to wear that was nice, just not girly. Something a little better than causal, but not like a dress. Defiantly not! She needed something that was absolutely for hanging out, flexible, and accidentally cute. Like an outfit you don't mean to be cute, but still is. And made her look 20% cooler. Rarity had once again pulled through. (Although she did mix and match a couple of things to make a suitable outfit) It was a half outfit. A slightly baggy black long sleeve front that the collar folded out and down over her neck with a blue vest over top. And a pair of black goggles with red lenses. So defiantly not a dress Not anywhere close. Athletic? Check. Flexible? Check. 20% cooler? Check. And finally, accidentally cute? Check and check. Yep. Everything checked out for the Wonderbolt. She thanked her fashionable friend, left out the door, and took to the skies. She about to close, as it was noon. When Discord popped in. He was taking a 10 minute break from helping Fluttershy, and needed an outfit that was just as dashing, good looking, and chaotic as he was, while also making since. She made him a tux that was a dark blue, with a yellow neck and tails, and a pink bow tie. It was simple, but pretty much everything he had requested. He poofed up a chest full of gems as a thank you and poofed himself gone. Now that all her friends had come in for their outfits, she closed her shop for the day, and she was getting ready for her date that night. Sweetie Belle wasn't home at the moment. She had gone to the amusement park for the day with her friends Applebloom and Scootaloo. They were joined with a few other ponies. The only other one that a Rarity knew out of the other three, was a dark brown colt with a tan and mud brown mane and tail. He was addicted to video games, and wore a funny little hat. Anyway, she had a few hours before she needed to stress over her date at 7:00 pm that night, so she might as well spend a couple of those hours sorting out the gems she had gotten from Discord. _______________(*O*)_______________ The super-duper party pony was super-duper busy on this day. She had so many parties to do this day. Sugar Cube Corner was running out of treats faster than they could be baked. She was over her head. Although this special day also had some restrictions. At 9:00 pm that night she would not be available for any more parties as she would be finishing with that special small party. Anyway, 9:00 pm was still a long time away. She had many other major parties to get to before then. First, was to cater to Filthy Rich's party for all his business friends. She had to set up all the decorations. There must have been ten thousand balloons, one thousand streamers, and almost a ton of confetti. And that was the easy stuff. Next was the food. Caviar, frog legs, lobster, truffles, veggie trays galore, expensive rich chocolate cake, and much much more. The entertainment was a set up of a Romeo and Juliet play, orchestra music, and a firework display. Yes this was a very busy party, but the pay was enough to keep Sugar Cube Corner open for another year. Second, was the homeless shelter and the orphanage. Not really as much work as the Filthy Rich's party, but it was still worth it. Here there was still balloons, streamers, and confetti; but also cupcakes, games, and pinatas galore. This had to be one of Pinkie Pie's favorite parties to do. She would act out stories for the fillies and colts, play games with them, do Hearts and Hooves day arts and crafts, and then let them have a pillow fight. And it was all free. No pay at all. It was all about spreading love, friendship, and charity. The royal sisters even came to help support this wonderful day. The rest of the day included anything from cooing couples, anniversaries, friends, and even school parties. But there as one last party she was to attend to. That small party; a party of two to be exact... _______________(*O*)_______________ Fluttershy was extremely busy. The animal adoption was going well. Puppies, kitties, song birds, mice, hamsters, bunnies, and a couple of other creatures like a couple of ferrets and a squirrel were all adopted to new families. Most were going to be a surprise for a significant other, family of some sort, friends, and crushes. There were also some who just adopted for themselves, as they could have someone to love. It had been quite a busy morning, and Discord had been a huge help. He had stayed with her the whole time. Except for the few minutes he had been gone around noon. She decided that even the great Lord or Chaos needed a break every now and then. Maybe she was even surprised that he had been so helpful, as he usually likes to spice things up with his chaos. Well, he had sort of grown a bit since she first met him, so she guessed that was actually proof of a breakthrough. She was very thankful to him, and was excited for later after the adoption was over. He had hinted at a big surprise to show how much he had come to know and embrace this wonderful day. She giggled to herself as she remembered that when he had first heard of Hearts and Hooves day, he had kinda been repulsed at the idea of lovey dovey name calling and kissie lips. But he had softened up a bit once he learned that, yes, while a holiday to celebrate love in the romantic way; it was also a day of friendship where you could have fun. She had explained to him that it could also be referred to by some as Friendship day. After that he had warmed up to the idea a bit. He even wanted to start participating in the activities. She believed that somewhere in these activities after he helped her, were going to include spying on Cadence matchmaking was one of them. He had at first also wanted to do something about a kissing booth perhaps. She had kindly talked him out of that idea for his first Hearts and Hooves day. She had said that he should probably wait next year so that by then he would've been more experienced with the holiday. And that is when a light bulb, yes a literal light bulb, appeared over his head. So apparently he had an idea that convinced him to change his mine. He said it was even better than the kissing booth, and that it was a surprise. The animal adoption had just gotten over, and lots of animals had found new homes. Discord helped to clean up, and teleported Fluttershy and the remaining animals back to her cottage. He said goodbye, and teleported away to get the surprise ready. Fluttershy was awfully excited. She could hardly wait... _______________(*O*)_______________ Rainbow Dash had been busy as well. She had to get ready for the Wonderbolt performance that night. Her adopted little sister Scootaloo had dropped in early in the morning. She was just delivering a card to her mentor. Apparently she had the other Cutie Mark Crusaders were headed to the Amusement park that day. Them and three colts. Scootaloo mentioned that the colts she was friends with was a grey pegasus with a black mane and tail. His Cutie Mark was that of a black thunder cloud. She didn't know the other two that her friends were bringing. Anyway, Scootaloo left, and Rainbow dash was getting ready to spend the day with a friend. They had a whole day planned out. And a couple of hours later, Rainbow dash was back in her house getting ready for the rest of the night. Her and her friend had had a lot of fun. They had had a day of competitions, and the loser had to buy dinner. There was who could perform the best tricks, the most agile, cloud sculpturing, flying basketball, an obstacle course, best autograph, and racing. Guess what? Rainbow Dash won. Obviously. She had won, and they were going to MacHoof's after the Wonderbolt performance that night. No it was not a date. Just a friendly hang out to justify winner and loser. Yes, just a hang out... _______________(*O*)_______________ Ah. Another Hearts and Hooves day. A day of love and friendship; and another day when Twilight was stressing out. She had just finished babysitting Flurry Heart. And this was before she had helped Cadence with her matchmaking and other love work this day. She had tried to get hints about this mystery date while she was with Cadence. All she could get out was that he worked in the Crystal Empire as a guard. And that was all she could get out of her sister-in-law. Now she was stressing. She was glad that her dress she had gotten out of the way that morning. But there was like another million things she had to do. How should she do her mane? Any makeup? What about her manner flashcards? All this for a date that was 5 hours away. She just had to make it to then... _______________(*O*)_______________ Applejack and Spike were having a pleasant day so far. Applejack wasn't stressed as much as she thought she would be. She told herself to just relax, and enjoy herself. And she was. Spike had come to fetch her around 8:00 am that morning. She had gotten home around 7:30 am after she had picked up her dress. She didn't know why she got it in the first place, but she had the feeling that she just should. Anyway, she checked in with Applebloom, and found she was headed to the Amusement park with her friends for the day. This included the other Cutie Mark Crusaders, plus another friend from each. Applebloom knew that Scootaloo was bringing an old rival/friend, Sweetie Belle was also bringing a old friend, and she was bringing a colt from her dance class. While that was going on with Applebloom, Applejack and Spike had gone to get breakfast at the local Cider Barrel. After that they had headed to the local carnival where they went on rides, played games, ate lunch, attended the petting zoo, took pictures in a photo booth which were 4 for a dollar, and just had fun. Applejack's favorite ride was the roller coaster, while Spike's was the Cranium Shaker. The games had included arcade games, laser tag, and booths. They had a contest to see who could get the best prize at ring toss. Applejack won. The petting zoo was really cute. Applejack had liked the baby goats the best, while Spike took to the baby chicks. The photos were a souvenir of the fun time they had both had at the carnival. Lastly, they had to pick out something for the other. They would meet back up in a couple of hours at Sweet Apple Acres to show what they had got for each other. Spike asked Applejack to meet him at a corner of Sweet Apple Acres for a surprise to celebrate the day. And hinted maybe to dress up just a little. What did Spike have in store for Applejack? Read on to find out... Author's Note So this chapter has two parts. Just wanted to break things up a bit. The Best Day Ever (Part 2)It was 8 pm, and Twilight was waiting for her blind date. She had studied, practiced, and reviewed everything she needed to know for a date. She had her dress on, and her crown. She had just brushed her hair and put on mascara. And that was it. She really, really, hoped that this night would work out. But what if he didn't like her, or was boring, maybe even a snob? Surely Cadence would choose better. Maybe someone like her friend Sunburst. Someone who liked to read and study and learn just as much as she did. Twilight didn't have time to worry anymore as she heard a knocking on the door. She looked at her reflection in the crystal wall near the door to do a final check that everything was alright. And she opened the door with a nervous smile. But her smile turned into a jaw-dropped expression. She knew this pony. Sort of. He chuckled, and reintroduced himself, although she already knew who it was. She had to hold herself back from giving him a big hug, because all the exact memories of them wasn't with him exactly. They were with his... opposite version self. "Hello Princess. It seems you might remember that I was the guard that you..." He started. "That I kept bumping into during my first visit as an alicorn to the Crystal Empire? Yeah, I do remember with detail." She said, her face now in a smirking smile. She had wanted to say from the school dance at Canterlot High, but she caught herself. She had to keep reminding herself that all, well most, of her memories were with the other him. He flushed a little bit. "Well, I guess that I never really apologized Princess." He stammered. It was really awkward to have her blind date, especially him, even if it was the pony him, call her by her royal title. "First, it's just Twilight. Second, it was my fault half the time because I wasn't looking at where I was going. Third, it might actually have been for the best, because we already met, sort of; and it gives us something to start of on." She replied. "Hmm. Twilight" He said, trying the name out in his tongue. " I like it. So, ready for some fun?" He asked. "Sure." Twilight answered. "Your name is Flash Sentry, if I can recall correctly?" She guessed as they took to the sky flying. "Yep. But usually just Flash. How did you know? Cadence tell you beforehand?" He said, leading in the direction of South East. "Well she did tell me your name after I accidentally bumped into you." Twilight replied. She knew his name of course, but she kept forgetting that this was a different Flash. And that all the memories of him, weren't him. She might ruin this chance if she wasn't careful. She needed to forget the memories of ''other'' him, and focus on the ones she did have of pony him. "And you actually remembered it?" He asked in a faint whisper. "Yes. Did you really expect me to not?" She said kind of bewildered. Was he surprised that she had remembered his name just because she was a princess? Did her being a princess make him feel that she was off limits? Did he even see her as a real pony outside of her royal title? This kinda hurt her feelings. Even if this was someone else, she didn't like to seem all high and mighty to any pony. "Well it is just that most ponies in general usually don't remember little details like that unless it means something to them I guess. I never thought that just any pony, especially one I just happened to randomly bump into a few times would remember my name so casually throw out there. So, I guess I am complimenting you on your memory." He explained. He had referred to her as most ponies in general. So maybe he saw her as a little more normal than she originally thought. "Well, I guess I can memorize facts easily, but I do have a harder times with ponies. I am quite sure I remembered you for more than us just bumping into each other on occasion. I just can't quite place it." She said, trying to keep the relief out of her voice. "Maybe it was my good looks, and dashing smile that implanted the memory so deep" Flash teased her. "Okay wise guy." Twilight chuckled. Although that did have something to do with it. With both versions, actually. "So, where are we heading to?" She asked. "We are going to that hill right below us."he replied. There was a picnic set up on a blanket on a hillside. It was away from the city, and was quiet. There was a beautiful view of the night sky. "Did you plan this all by yourself?" Twilight asked in astonishment as she stared at the food laid out. Some tuna fish sandwiches, chips, fruit, and a one layer chocolate cake. "Yep." "This is amazing." "I know." Flash semi-teased Twilight. She just smiled at him. They then proceeded to have there picnic, play a game, and just relax while talking together under the stars. Maybe he wasn't the Flash she remembered, but if he was anything like she knew, this could be that chance she was looking forward to. They had started off nicely, and now they just needed to build it up as they went. And Twilight wasn't going to give up what she had found that easily. ________________(*O*)_______________ Rarity was ready for her date with her colt friend. Well, he wasn't a colt, so maybe a cat friend. It was something that she had merely labeled boyfriend for the time being. She wore a dress of three white layers edged with gold with a forth that turned into a train at the back. A slim front with gold on top, and white on the bottom was present. Her mane hanged down in loose locks, while there was a pink rose behind her ear, and a little crown at the base of her horn. It was seven, and she heard a knocking upon her door. She opened the door, and Capper presented her with a bouquet of lilacs and red roses. Rarity quickly put them in a vase, and she was ready to go. Capper was wearing the cape and top hat he had received from Rarity when they first met. He also had a red carpet leading to a carriage in which they would ride to the Canterlot castle. They arrived withing the hour, as Capper got out of his side, and opened the door for Rarity. From there they proceeded to the castle ballroom where there was a grand party. Rarity and Capper spent the night dancing, getting refreshments, and going to the garden. There they talked about what was happening with each other. "So, you helped get Kludgetown into a manageable position, Hmm?" Rarity asked Capper as she sipped her punch. "Ah yes." He replied. "Well, it is more decent than it was when you last visited. Not to terribly fancy, but at least we know have some law and order around there. We now have places that help the wounded, sick, orphans, homeless, etc. So it is definitely better than before." He said. "I hear that your fashions are in demand, well more than usual anyway. No?" "Yes, you would be correct. My spring fashions are flying off the shelves." Rarity confirmed. "By the way, thank you for this lovely date tonight. It has been delightful indeed." "It was no trouble. I have quite thoroughly enjoyed it myself." Capper said with a finishing tone. Rarity got this message, and she instead leaned on him, and they just sat together, just enjoying all the peace and quiet that the Canterlot gardens had to offer. ________________(*O*)_______________ Pinkie pie was wearing an overcoat as she sneaked to an abandoned warehouse, where she waited for the signal. At 6:00 pm, a spout of chocolate milk spouted out of the chimney, and that was the cue. She headed to the back door, where she did 3 knocks, a tap, and a click. The door swung open, and she stepped inside. The pony who had let her in was wearing a black cape, and he motioned for her to hurry up. And she did. He opened up a trap door in the floor, then he slid down a pole. Pinkie Pie was right behind him. She didn't like to be so secret, but they needed privacy. And the only way they knew, was to keep it secret. This date had been prepared months ahead, until they could rehearse it in their sleep. They now we're approaching a long hallway that only had room for one pony in width. There was a singular door at the end. And as they reached it, the pony before Pinkie opened it, and went inside, and Pinkie followed. On the other side of the door was a little table for two, with a candle in the middle. And it was set for two. There was a record player in the corner, and room to dance later. It was the perfect meeting place for these two. Pinkie took off her overcoat revealing the dress underneath. Her date also took off his cape. It was Cheese Sandwich. He smiled at his date, and she smiled right back. They walked over to the table, and Cheese Sandwich pulled Pinkie's seat out for her. "Malady." He said. "Kind sir" She replied. And then they both just giggled. Pinkie settled in, while Cheese Sandwich brought out a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, along with brownies for desert. He then settled in as well. "So what has been happening with you since we were able to last meet up?" Pinkie asked her boyfriend. "Just the usual party or two. Or maybe 20 or 30." he responded with a light chuckle. "Not to mention the joke factory is back on track. It has never been better." "Well, I also have had the 20 or 30 parties. Or 2-300 hundred. Maybe topping around a thousand. Getting to the point, it has been totally hectic." Pinkie replied. " I have no idea why ponies are all of a sudden partying like there is no tomorrow. It is like 5 years worth of parties rolled into 6 months. And some of these parties have been for the craziest things. One was for someones turtle who had laid its eggs, and they all hatched successfully. Well, Gummy did kind of like that one. There was another one for someone who got their dentures. Someone else because there foal was potty trained. And there was even one for this guy who said his pig had transferred over to being a dog. I even have had some gay wedding receptions. So that has been sort of going around. Not in full support of it myself; but hey, ponies are going to do what ponies are going to do. So, no comment really." "I know that some of these parties are for the weirdest things, but I guess that the party boom is because ponies are celebrating everything they can find a reason for. And this is probably due to the fact that their is a new ruler of Equestria, and you guys saved the world once more. So they are partying because they are really celebrating all the good in the world brought on by you and your friends." Cheese Sandwich said. "I guess that makes since. But life is just so busy. Plus it's not just parties. You and I both have other things going on in our lives. You and the joke factory, and me with Sugar Cube Corner. It has just been so busy." Pinkie replied with an exasperated sigh. "Plus with all the busy outside world, we have to be so careful. Others aren't ready to know. I haven't told anybody, well, except Boneless." Cheese Sandwich pointed out. "I have not even told my friends about us. We can't afford it. Only Gummy knows." Pinkie Pie agreed. By this time, the two lovers had finished their dinner, and were ready to have some fun. That of course meant dancing to the record player. They had planned this for months, and they were going to enjoy themselves. As they headed to the dance space, Cheese Sandwich took Pinkie's hoof, and the pony pokie was just starting. ______________(*O*)______________ Rainbow dash had finished cleaning herself up in the Wonderbolt's locker room, and had changed briefly. She was ready to fly with her friend. he owned her dinner for her winning the competitions earlier that day. She had on what Rarity had thrown together earlier that morning. And was ready to go still. Where was that silly colt? She meant, why was he taking so long? He owed her dinner, and she was hungry. After about 10 more minutes of just waiting, he finally walked out. "Took you long enough." Rainbow dash said while rolling her eyes. "Sorry. Just had to take a shower. I didn't smell like an sore.. I mean okay loser should have been. I mean I already have to buy dinner. But I didn't think that also meant wallowing in the smell of defeat as well." He replied "Well I guess so. But seriously, Soarin, I'm hungry, and I was ready to go 15 minutes ago." Rainbow dash pointed out. I didn't know that we were racing to see who could get ready the fastest." Soarin replied yet again. "Speaking of getting ready, how exactly did you get ready so fast?" He asked curiously. "Well, I also took a shower. But I also just threw something together. Yet again, I can understand how I can throw together anything, and make it look good; While you need a little more time to look... decent." Rainbow dash semi-bragged, semi-teased. "Well, maybe. Just maybe, that might be the the case. Didn't say for sure, but just maybe." Soarin admitted. "Speaking of throwing things together, maybe you can pull it off. I mean, where did this, uh, fashion statement come from?" He asked in a teasing manner. But there was also a tone of awe in his voice as well. "This is just something I had I the back of my locker." Rainbow dash said truthfully. "I found it in the back as I was looking for something to go by, and here it is." She had indeed found this in the back of her locker, after she put it there that morning after having gone by Rarity's fashion boutique. So she had told Soarin the truth; just left out a few of the minor details. But he didn't to know that. Anyway, it didn't matter, it was time to go. "Well, it looks... 20% cooler. So are you ready to go get dinner?" Soarin asked. "I was ready 20 minutes ago. Lets fly!" And with that Rainbow dash took to the sky. Soarin wasn't far behind. And they were going to have a great time. ______________(*O*)______________ Fluttershy was very excited. Discord had been hinting at this surprise all day long. And she was very curious. She had the dress on that she had picked up earlier that day. She had also put her mane up in an elegant loose bun, adorned with a couple small white flowers. She heard a knock at the door. And with sweeping anticipation, she swung the door open. There in front of her was Discord in a tux, with a bouquet of pink daisies. She went to sniff them, and they smelled like lavender and cotton candy. A few moments later, a rainbow of butterflies came spurting out in a colorful wave. She was delighted. Discord held out his paw for her to take, and she did. He then proceeded to teleport them to A remote clearing in a forest. It was sort of dark, but the place held a wonder and certain mystery to it that made it impossible to be afraid of. Here you also had a view of the night sky like no other; the moon shone down peacefully, while the stars twinkled with laughter. It was the right temperature, with a cool breeze running through, and a babbling brook running and splashing over rocks in the distance. There were even fireflies flying in a lazy pattern of nothingness. It was the most beautiful place in the world. Discord had picked a grassy spot in the middle of the clearing in which he had tea, cucumber sandwiches, blueberry scones, and a bowl of cotton candy ready and waiting. It sort of reminded her of a more calming, and slightly romantic version of their Tuesday tea parties. He led her to the clearing. There was no picnic blanket, but the grass was still soft and comfy. They both settled down and relaxed as they began to eat. "This is amazing." Fluttershy said to Discord. "It is so calm and peaceful. And I love the view of the stars." "I'm glad you like it. It is almost as pretty as you are." Discord said with a sort of worried/nervous tone hidden in his voice. What was he worried about? Was she afraid that she didn't like it? Or was it something she had said or done? Maybe she had hurt his feelings someway, and she didn't know. She decided to try and figure it out as the night proceeded. "How did you think of all this?" She whispered with genuine curiosity. Discord seemed to get a little uncomfortable, and there was a sad note in his voice as he began to explain to her. "Well, I actually found this place one day when I needed to clear my head. I had just escaped from my stone prison, and I wanted to relax before I started to take over Equestria. I stayed here for a couple of days, taking in everything this place had to offer. It was so wonderful, and I wanted to enjoy it before I started in my conquest. Plus I wanted to have memories of something like this in case my takeover didn't work again." And with that, he looked down at his talons. "Is this what you thought about before you were set free again?" Fluttershy asked, in a surprising stepping-over-the-line sort of way, that she even surprised herself sort of. She worried for a couple of seconds that she had asked a question to far. But he just nodded. "It was a big go to for me when I was in there. I just had the memories of the looks, smells, hearing, sight, and the sensations of this place. Still, it was better than nothing. Previously, I had been young and foolish, and hadn't bothered to take time to appreciate the things around me at that point. So it was kind of a boring 1000 yrs. At least I was prepared for another 1000 years this time." He admitted. "But you didn't need it this time. Not for 1000 years anyway." Fluttershy said, as she stroked his blue pegasus wing with one of hers. "No. I didn't." He said now with a sort of sad smile that Fluttershy was able to see in the faint moonlight. "Well," Fluttershy started, now hovering in the air in front of Discord, using her hooves to cup his face. "that was then. This is now. And right now, it is just you and me, here, with each other. And that is all we need." Discord now had a million thoughts racing through his head. He had told her about his past, way more than he had ever expected to share with any pony. He had told her she was pretty in the beginning, and she hadn't run away, or laughed at him; she had not hated him in the slightest. He was here now, and she was too. She was still his friend, and that was all he needed. Maybe they could be in a place for more. But maybe that time wasn't this time. Or, perhaps, this was the time for everything. "Thanks. Want to stargaze?" He asked in a sort of half nervous, half hopeful voice. "Absolutely." Fluttershy said within the same heart beat. And with that, they did. Fluttershy could see why discord liked this place. The ground was even perfect, as it cradled her and Discord perfectly. "Do you like the night?" She asked "Yes. It holds mystery and wonder. The day can be so predictable, but with the night, everything seems to come alive. This is where I want to be. Just us, here, together." Discord said. Maybe he could be just a little more vulnerable tonight. Maybe, just maybe, this was the night that everything fell into place. That he could finally be more to Fluttershy than a friend. Just a little more. "Same." And with that she was going to lean into Discord, but something told her to do something that she would've thought crazy until tonight. She tapped his shoulder, and once he had turned his head to look at her, she flapped her wings to make eye contact. From there she proceeded to cup his face as she had previously done, leaned in, and kissed him. Those few seconds felt like an eternity. Discord was pretty much paralyzed. One moment he was staring into Fluttershy's eyes, and a few seconds later, his heart was doing cartwheels, and nothing else existed except him, and the pegasus right in front of him. After she had dislodged her lips from his, he opened his eyes, looked at her, then looked at the ground. but she took one of her hooves and put it under his chin, and then rose his head as so he would make eye contact with her. "I care about you so much. I couldn't put it words. I want to be so much more with you. You have filled my life like no one else. I can't see myself with anyone else. You are a part of me." Fluttershy spoke to him. These words. He had imagined it a hundred times, but he still wasn't prepared for this. But he had to try. "I do too. I have wanted this for so long, but I didn't know what to do. I am still sort of new to this, and was confused. But I think now, I can see a way. A way for both of us." Discord said. "Me too." Fluttershy replied. She smiled at him, and he smiled back. This was everything they had both imagined, and had finally come true. ______________(*O*)______________ Applejack was at the edge of Sweet Apple Acres, waiting for Spike. She had dressed up sort of, and was looking forward with curiosity. She had her dress on, and she was comfortable. The dress wasn't girly, bright, or anything other than country and Applejack. Applejack was feeling sort of nervous. She had spent almost the entire day with spike, and surely this would be no different. But it felt different, but she couldn't quite place her hoof on it. It felt has though even though the day had been mostly normal, it was going to change. Like tonight she would either make it, or break it. Tonight was the night that she would either be with Spike, or not at all. At least after tonight she could stop dreading on whether he would reject her, because the night for finding out, was tonight. She could now see Spike as he was approaching from the west direction. He had a picnic basked in one arm. Her heart gave a little flutter. Even though inside herself, she was a circus with to much energy, she kept a cool and calm exterior. Sher had mastered this emotion coverup over the years. She nodded her head in acknowledgement as Spike got ever closer. He waved with a smile on his face. Applejack felt her lips turn up in a smile as well. "Hey AJ. Ready to finish having some fun?" Spike asked. "Yup" Applejack replied. "So what'cha got there now?" She asked. "A picnic. Seems like a good way to close the day. Two friends just enjoying some food while every pony else is doing there own thing." Spike said in a voice oh so casual, that made Applejack feel as though she was deflating. It did no good to mope though. She reminded herself not to get her hopes up. Not yet anyway. Although, it still hurt inside as she heard him referring to them just as friends. But maybe he his just disguising the real reason because he is shy. Or is afraid of rejection. Kinda like me. Maybe this is like Twilight's story when he realizes that I've been here this whole time. Whispered an unavoidable part of Applejack's brain. She let this possible train of thought relief herself of her worries for now. This might be true, it may not be. But even if it was, she was going to enjoy this, and take the memories with her. If it was. She hoped against that possibility. "So, over here is good." Spike said pointing to under a tree right behind them. Applejack only nodded, and they walked over, and set up the picnic. There was apple cider, crescents, fried chicken, fruit, applesauce, mash potatoes, soup, and an apple pie. "Did ya make this yourself?" Applejack asked Spike with a hint of awe. "Sure did. Don't worry, it is a lot better than some of my previous cooking." Spike reassured her. They both chuckled at the memory of some of Spike's previous homemade cooking. With this starting them off, they both sat down on the red and white checkered blanket, and began to eat. They recalled stories of all the times, the good and the bad. After a couple of hours, they had finished eating ages ago, and the sun was starting to set. There was a silence as they both were lost in thought. Spike was thinking things like: how well this day had gone, and this was a wonderful idea or I'm sure lucky to have Applejack as a friend. He was straying back to the story he had heard Twilight telling her friends a few days prior. He had some funny thoughts about it, but couldn't quite place on how it might relate to his life. Applejack was thinking about how she had enjoyed the day, and this hadn't been as bad as she thought it might've been. She was making a mental note to thank Rarity soon for her coming up with this idea. She had thoroughly memorized this day backwards and forwards to lodge every single little detail, every word spoken. The sight, smells, sounds, tastes, sensations, and mood in her mind. She never wanted to forget this day. She didn't care if she forgot that the sun moved, or that she was orange, or anything else for that matter. She wanted to remember this till her dying breath. She also thought back to Twilight's story. But she also didn't want to wait twenty years in the future. She wanted to make things happen, and that is what made her decide to figure out a way, to get things moving. Either by future meetings, or the whole shebang. "How about we tell a story now?" She mentioned to Spike. "About what?" He asked. ""About whatever. Like we just make one up. Ah am curious to see what you can come up with." She replied. "Okay. Lets see now..." Spike began. "Okay. So Once Upon a Time, there was a maiden fair and sweet. She lived in the country, away from the outskirts of town. She loved to pick flowers, and to garden. She lived with her father, who was a sales pony, and was traveling all the time. At the same time, there was a lonely prince. His heart was cold and forbidden. But there was still some love left inside. Although, it was now buried deeper than before as his fiance had just left him for some tramp that she met on one of her many travels. Now, he wasn't sure what to do. He was to be crowned in 3 months, and he didn't have a bride. He searched for many days, but there was no one else. He was still searching his kingdom, with only a month to go. It began to rain, and he was in need of shelter. Now he spotted a lone cottage, and he headed towards it. In the meanwhile, the maiden heard a knocking at her door. She was alone as her father was on one of his many business trips. She opened the door, and a gust of cold wind and rain blew through the front door. And a traveler was standing there. She beckoned him inside, and shut the door. She went to a back room, and brought out some dry clothes. He thanked her, and she didn't recognize him as the prince. She bid him to stay the night, until the storm passed. Except the storm raged on for a couple of more days. During that time, they played games, talked, ate, and did all sorts of things together. When the storm had passed some 8 days after he had been stranded, he told her a password for if they should ever meet again. The password was: By and By, neither storm nor sea, shall stop our everlasting need of each other. And she should reply And we shall know each other, by the wings of angels. She agreed to this. And with that, he then bid her farewell, and went to continue his search. But as the next couple of weeks stretched on, he still could not find a suitable bride. So, a week before he was to be crowned king, he held a ball for all the girls in his kingdom, plus a few surrounding his. He thought for sure he would find someone. But Alas, on the night of the ball, he did not find one for a very long time. While this was going on, the maiden had also received her invitation, and had just barely made it. She still did not know that the prince was the one she had help to shelter from the storm. When she arrived, the prince saw her, and knew her immediately. He asked to dance, and she accepted. They danced throughout the night. And as it was nearing the end he began to speak. By and By, neither storm nor sea, shall stop our everlasting need of each other. She nearly gasped. She knew that. That is when she put two and two together and she then replied: And we shall know each other, by the wings of angels. And they both knew in that moment what was to be. The very next day, they were wed, and they lived Happily Ever After." And with that, Spike finished. "So, what did you think?" "Where in tarnation, did you learn to tell stories like that? It was Amazing." Applejack said. "Hey, when you live with the Princess of Books, you learn a thing or two." He said with a laugh. "I bet it was still your own." Applejack replied. "You know, many say that the truth may be found in the stories told. Even if ya think it up all on your own, it could still hold a bit of truth within it." She said. Spike was now thinking about what Applejack had said. He also remembered Twilight's story. And that is when he finally put two and two together himself. His friend liked him, but she didn't know how to say it. He had finally figured it out, and now he just needed to do something about it. Applejack was wondering if she really should say something, or if she would have a chance in the future. She chose not to, and settled for what she had gotten that day. "It's getting late. We should really be heading home." She finally said, breaking the silence. Spike only nodded, and then they cleaned up. Spike then proceeded to walk Applejack to her front door. When they were there, and she said goodnight, he just had to do something. He remembered he had some daffodils from earlier during the picnic. They were suppose to be a decoration, but he never got around to putting them out. Might as well put them to good use. He said something just as Applejack was going to go inside, and he handed her the flowers. "These were going to be a decoration, but I kinda forgot about them. Why don't you have them, sort as a memento of today?" He said. Applejack was a little surprised, but she loved the flowers. And a surprisingly streak of boldness came over her. "Thank ya Spike. I have a memento of tonight for you as well." "OH, you didn't need to..." Spike began. But he was temporarily distracted when Applejack leaned over, and gave him a kiss on the cheek. He was a million miles away, but he heard the faint sound of his friends voice as she said Goodnight. Once inside, Applejack did not know what to feel. But she was happy. She finally got up the guts to do what she had wanted to do for a long time. This really had been the best day ever. Author's Note I think out of all the dresses, Applejack was undoubtedly my favorite. I just loved the overall feel of it. Country, cute, simple elegant, and totally something I would wear. Not fancy and girlish, but something you can wear in a dusty farm. Something I would wear. This was a Valentine's day special, so I hope you enjoyed.
The Tea PartyAuthor's Note This is set a few months after Twilight's coronation The Tea Party So the Mane 6 were just having a tea party, just talking about everyday things.
