Soarin opened his eyes with a sigh and looked at his alarm clock. With a groan, he hit the button and got up to get ready.
6:00am
Soarin sighed as he stared at the road while he drove to work.
6:15am
Soarin sighed as he dropped down at his desk. Misty Fly entered the doorway to his office and rested against the door frame. "How ya doing?" She asked.
The stallion looked up at her. "Coco's taken and we can't do anything about it. What do you think?"
Misty nodded and looked out at the other officers. "Yeah, we're all at a loss. But, we'll figure it out. Especially if the Daemon sisters help out."
"You trust them now?"
"I have no choice. Enemy of my enemy, right?"
"I guess... I'll go check on them later, then."
Misty nodded. "For now, just... take it easy, okay?"
Soarin nodded. "You, too, Chief."
Misty gave him a smile before she left.
6:30am
Vinegar stood on the sidewalk across from the police station, looking out at all the wreckage. There were currently tow trucks hard at work removing all the cars. She let out a sigh and began walking down the sidewalk towards a nearby café. She approached the window and ordered a coffee. Once she paid for her drink she turned around and almost bumped into someone.
“Apologies,” the white mare said as Vinegar stopped. The white mare was wearing a red crop top and a short red skirt.
The dark yellow mare eyed the stranger as she made her own order. “You’re Cherry Bomb, aren’t you?”
The white mare froze, before she slowly looked over at Vinegar. “What makes you say that?”
“I’m just getting a bad vibe from you.”
The white mare looked at the café window just as the mare inside have her a coffee. She paid and then turned to Vinegar. “And do you plan on going to the police with this information?”
“You’d probably just, like… kill Coco if I did, so…”
Cherry smirked and took a sip of her coffee. “Let’s walk.” She then started to head down the sidewalk away from the police station.
Vinegar casually followed as she took a sip of her own coffee. “So, you’re the one everyone’s freakin’ out about?”
“I know how to push the right buttons. So, what makes you think I’ll just let you go now that you’ve seen my face?”
“Because…” Vinegar sighed. “It totally wouldn’t, like… benefit you in the slightest.”
“Elaborate.”
“You already have Coco, which seems to be enough to keep the police and the Daemon sisters at bay. You don’t need me for, like, a hostage, or anything. And killing me will get you nowhere. Plus, that would be a lot of extra work that you probably don’t need right now.”
Cherry slowly took a sip of her coffee while she listened. “Makes sense. And what do you gain from your silence?”
“I’m no fighter. I’d prefer to stay out of it.”
“Then, what are you doing wandering about? Just getting some exercise? Or just out for a stroll?”
Vinegar took a sip of her coffee. “Something tells me you already know. But just because I’m out on recon doesn’t mean I’m, like… a fighter, or whatever. Honestly, you’d probably kick my ass.”
Cherry watched her down the rest of her coffee and toss the cup in a nearby trash can. “Hmm… You’re an interesting one. Maybe, after I take over this city, I’ll make you my pet.”
“You’d wait that long?”
Cherry chuckled and put her right arm around the yellow mare. “You say you’re not a fighter. How about a messenger?”
“Messenger?”
Cherry nodded. “Go back to the police station and tell the Chief that lightning tastes great… and the sun is fun to play with.”
Vinegar raised an eyebrow. “Okay…”
Cherry leaned in and kissed the top of her head. “Now, off you go.” Cherry then looked both ways before she crossed the street.
Vinegar watched her leave before she looked back at the police station.
7:00am
Misty was standing in the main room of the police station when her radio crackled to life. “Um,ma’am?” Vapor began. ”We have a Vinegar here. She says she has a message for you. From Cherry Bomb.”
Misty went wide-eyed and held the talk button. “Send her in immediately.”
Soarin left his office when he heard his Chief. “What’s going on?”
Misty eyed him before Vapor Trail led Vinegar into the room. Soarin and Misty immediately recognized her and rushed over. “What’s the message?” The Chief asked.
Vinegar shrugged. “Lightning tastes good and the sun is fun to play with.”
Misty stared at her before she looked at Soarin. “Lightning Streak and Sun Chaser?”
“Those cops?” Vinegar asked.
Misty eyed her before looking at Soarin again. “Lightning’s dead but Sun may still be alive.”
“That’s what it sounds like to me,” Soarin agreed.
Misty returned her attention to Vinegar. “What else did she say? What does she look like?”
“We didn’t talk about much,” Vinegar explained. “I just… figured out who she was and agreed to be her messenger. I was trying to do some recon for the Daemons, but…”
“And what does she look like?”
“White mare with a ponytail?” Vinegar shrugged. “Nothing too out of the ordinary. I mean, she was wearing, like… a pretty sexy red crop top.”
Misty sighed and rubbed her forehead. "Alright. I appreciate the update. If we have any more questions..."
"I have my phone. I'm sure you can find my number."
"Probably. You may go."
Vinegar gave the peace sign and left. Misty then looked at Soarin. "Think she's part of her gang?"
The stallion shook his head. "No. She seems loyal to Shrill and Trill. Despite her... uncaring attitude."
Outside, Vinegar thought about what she heard about Sun Chaser. "Fun to play with," she repeated, remembering what Cherry told her. She suddenly had an idea, but it would have to wait for later.
10:00pm
Vinegar left her apartment building and headed back to the café where she met Cherry. Currently, she wore a red-and-black-striped tube top with a short black skirt. She then proceeded to head to where she saw the white mare leave. Nothing seemed to stick out to her as being out of place so she kept walking. She crossed her arms and looked around, hoping to see something that caught her attention.
“Come on, Cherry,” she muttered. “Fuck you at?”
“Right here,” came a voice that made Vinegar jump and spin around. “Hey.”
“Hey,” the yellow mare replied. “Trying to give me a heart attack?”
“Apologies,” Cherry cooed. “Now, mind telling me why you’re looking for me?”
“I wanted to make a proposal.”
“Oh,” Cherry chuckled. “Well… I do.”
“What? No, not that kind of proposal. Not… exactly.”
“Go on.”
Vinegar sighed before she continued. “I know you have a cop. Sun Chaser. And from what you said, it sounds like you’re using her for fun.”
Cherry shrugged. “My boys are. But my mares are more into me.”
“So, I propose… me… in exchange for Sun Chaser.”
Cherry crossed her arms and eyed the mare up and down. “That’s some offer you’re making.”
“Obviously, I wouldn’t be able to stay with you. Not without getting Shrill and Trill even more frantic. But I don’t live with them, and can keep my window open.”
Cherry chuckled. “Well… That is something. In order for this to be fair you’d need to be… well worth it.”
Immediately, Vinegar stepped up to her and kissed her deeply. Cherry smiled and kissed back, both placing their hands on the other’s hips. Cherry then pulled the yellow mare into a nearby alley and held her against the wall. When the kiss ended, Vinegar grabbed her own tube top and pulled it down to expose her tiny A-cups.
Cherry chuckled and pressed her palms against the small breasts. “Still haven’t convinced me as to why I should trade in a cop… for you.”
“Who would you rather control?” Vinegar asked. “The police? Or the Daemons?”
“I already have Coco.”
“Coco is just an intern. I’m family.”
Cherry smirked and slowly moved her hands to the wall on either side of the mare’s head so she could lean in closer. “Is that so? Do explain.”
“Four years ago, they found me in an orphanage in Baltimare.”
“Orphanage, really? And what happened to mommy and daddy?”
“K… Killed by some… thug who wanted their money. I guess they couldn’t finish the job and do me in, too.”
“Wow. So, you had to watch your parents get shot?” Vinegar replied with a single nod. “Well, now…” Cherry then gripped Vinegar’s tube top and pulled it down over her breasts. “I agree to your deal. But on the condition that we have sex at my place.”
Vinegar nodded. “Fine with me.”
Cherry put an arm around her and pulled her close. “I must point out that, should you say anything about what you see… I’ll have Coco and your new parents killed in front of you. Then I’ll let you live with the knowledge of how you failed them.”
Vinegar’s eyes went wide as her hands clenched into fists, her breathing also increasing in frequency. Cherry noticed and smirked. “Still have a deal?”
Vinegar exhaled deeply and nodded. “Yes.”
