Secrets 1,002 years ago ~☽~ The Castle Cried out this night from the tension of the Furious storm Raging outside, The bricks shift from the constant Barrage of the Rain and the wind that Reap through the slumbering halls. The wooden panels beneath a cloaked pony's hooves cry out in agony with every step the pony made, as she made her way down the dark and slightly damp corridors. Logically she knew that the wet floors were due to the stormwater that seeped through the cracks of the castle, to dampen these floors. It is most likely water, however, the keyword was 'Logically' and her logic had been her problem for the past few weeks. In her mind, her own Delusions warred with her own perception of Reality, and she did what she always did in the past couple of weeks, she gave in to her own fears and slipped down the rabbit hole... It should be around one to two hours past midnight, this meant the castle halls were deserted, all the ponies had retreated into the chambers of their own rooms, whether here in the castle, the barracks, or the homes of the Nobles, and commoners that surrounded castle Everfree, but to her the castle was all but abandoned. She was almost certain that she was being watched, though she had no clue who or what lurked in the shadows. She was currently in the castles main halls making her way towards the southern tower. She crept silently, passing the castle's private dining room, with her goal being her private studies. 'BOOM' The Flash of lightning lit up the castle, as it struck the light poured through the hall's stained glass windows, causing the mare to jump in fear before Stumbling back into the opposite wall and falling on to her side. In the commotion, the mare failed to notice the black tome that fell from under her cloak and hit the ground with a loud thud as it slightly bounced. The sound of the book echoed throughout the halls, though the sound was lost to the mare as it was drowned out by the ear deafening roar of thunder. The tome, to the disgust of anypony who would look upon it, it was bound by black leather and was badly damaged with large gashes ripped out from the book's cover. The book was also badly stained with dried blood, if noticed, this would have brought at least some twisted comfort to the mare, due to the fact that she knew for sure that this book was indeed stained. By the third flash from the storm, the mare was Curled up in a desperate attempt to shrink in size as if to hide from... Something, though she herself did not know what. She took advantage of the lightning as the light faded once more. Looking around she first peered into the Dining room from the doorway. And waited for the next strike... As the rolling thunder finally surpassed, the halls grew unnaturally silent. As the moment ticked slowly by, she could feel her back hooves go numb as the chilly air crept through her cloak, cutting deep into her bones. 'BOOM' Striking once more the flash of the white light filled the dining room, edging the shadows of the room's furniture into her sight. Spooked, the mare jumped into a trot down the hall towards her destination, as she did she felt the chill from earlier seep deeper into her body. Her heart was racing, and before she even noticed, she was in a full gallop. What should have been a short walk, seemed to turn into a long gallop for the mare, as if the halls stretched and expanded just to taunt her, but soon enough she had made it. She flinched preparing for the soon to come pain as she smashed head first into a closed door ahead of her. The door burst open in a rain of wood Splinters dumping the offending pony onto the maroon carpeted floor, in front of a large oak desk. It only took the mare a few moments to snap out of her daze and scramble to her hooves, She faced the door giving it a hard buck, the damaged door slammed shut, causing the tower to creak under the impact. She slid into a fighting stance as she stared at the door for what felt to her like an eternity, her glaring eyes challenged the door to open by a will other than her own. She waited a few moments before releasing the breath she did not realize she was holding into a sigh of relief. She slumped onto the floor, using the damaged door as a headrest. "I finally made it", she spoke up for the first time since she exited her personal chambers, the Relief was palpable in her tone", With any luck, this can be done and no one will ever know of their existence". She jerked her head back allowing the cloak to finally fall off, lighting her horn with a light blue Aura she lifted the cloak off the floor and hung it up on the coat rack next to her. Getting up the mare moved towards the desk while using her magic to pull two books and a quill from the pockets under the cloak, before unceremoniously dropping them on to the desk in front of her. For a moment she just stared at the books, her eyes lit with horror. "No", she whispered to her self, "ONE IS MISSING!" she cried out, using her magic to throw everything but the two books off the table, using her magic the mare turned to her cloak and ripped it to shreds in an attempt to find the missing book, but to no avail. She paced around the room throwing book after book off her studies' private bookshelf and throwing open any closed wooden cabinet under the window in a desperate attempt to locate where the book would have gone. The castle tower shifted and creaked once more in the winds of the storm, the wooden roofing of the Mare's studies creaking as the castle walls shift in the powerful wind, and by doing so freezing the panicking mare in her place. ' I don't have time to find it, I'll have to search for it later.' she sighed in defeat be for opening the two remaining books, her magic swirled around her before taking the form of two Quills and beginning to write upon the first page of both books ~ I have done something that I shall soon regret, for I had made many choices out of envy of my older sister, I shall not go into Details of my mistakes for it is best left forgotten, however, I shall take every step needed to prevent anypony else from make the same mistakes. This warning is for anypony who finds any one of these books, these journals hold secrets best left forgotten. If this unnatural obsession over these books did not stop me, I would see them burned to prevent anyone from making the same mistakes that I have. I must hide them before I fall to Cthobre's madness. Do not look for any other book, my research must be left incomplete and the passage must stay sealed! Using her magic to dry the ink, she slammed the books shut allowing the magic Quills to dispell. She looked up to the darkness of the stormy night sky outside the window, she stretched out her midnight blue wings and with a flash of light blue magic the Mare and one of the books were gone Present Day ~✶~ The sun had set on what could be counted as the most beautiful summer day in ponyville, and as it passed the horizon, all that remained of it was the bright twilight glow of the purplish-red tinted clouds that cover the far horizon. The coming clouds, however, did not dampen one lavender Unicorn Mare's mood, who had become determined to Stargaze this night with her five friends and her Number One Assistant, ' to Tartarus to any cloud that would dare block out this night's sky', the mare Thought to herself upon seeing the clouds, while climbing up the grassy hill just outside ponyville. While weather in Equestria is mostly predictable due to the local weather teams, working both day and even some nights to ensure the balance of clear weather for the ponies of their communities, and the rain needed to keep their beautiful lands lush and green. It is this predictability that allows ponies to predict the weather, and able to find out when and where a storm is scheduled to start and end. There is one town that is the exception to this rule, the ever-growing town of ponyville. This is because of the wild and feared Everfree forest where the clouds form by themselves, creating storms that nobody could ever predict, in the town of ponyville the weather teams most of the time do the opposite to any other city, where weather teams would work hard to create storms, in ponyville weather teams work hard to keep storms at bay. The seven friends made there way just north of the town, to the Green rolling hills where their picnic may begin. In her purple Aura, Twilight Sparkle held a candle and a book Titled 'A guide to Astral phenomenons', while sitting on her back her Number one assistant held their picnic basket of food and wearing his very own cape, that was originally intended to be their picnic blanket. They continued towards their normal stargazing location, with the rest of their friends followed behind, deep into their own discussions, as they rounded the top of the hill. "So Twilight, darling you haven't said anything about your plans for next week's summer sun celebration, how do you feel about joining us in Canterlot?" Rarity asked attempting to draw her fellow unicorn into their conversation, in turn, Twilight shook her head and offered a pacifying smile. "While it would be great to visit home once more and enjoy the summer sun festival, I am afraid that Mondays are my advanced magic lessons with The Princess, regardless of holidays or not." "Whoa what?!" rainbow dash Cried out, flying up into twilights face and grabbing at her muzzle with her hooves, "you know we always hang out after the Summer Sun celebration, it's our Friendiversary, how can you just miss out on that!" Twilight gave her a glare of annoyance before pulling her face free from the blue pegasus. "I'm sorry Dash, my studies come first," she said while using her magic to unravel the picnic blanket from the baby dragon and setting it down, much to his dismay, "besides, my attendance record to my weekly classes is the only reason the Princess allows me to stay in ponyville". "I doubt that she would care if you miss one day for your friends", dash retorted before plopping down onto the Picnic Blanket. "Rainbow, one does not skip out on one of the Rulers of Equestria!", Rarity Scoffed, shooting a Glare towards the Rash Pegasus. Only to be cut off by Applejack sitting between them. "Now no fighting you two, ah reckon that that is why we are having a picnic today, Right Twi?" Applejack asked glancing towards the Lavender mare, as the mare in question placed the Candle and book that she had been levitating in her Aura in front of their picnic Blanket. "That's what I was thinking Applejack," she said in response, while lighting the candle with a flicker of her magic and placing it behind the book, "I'll be leaving Spike in charge of the Library and be departing for the weekend tomorrow morning, we will be practicing magic all weekend". "I for one can't wait for you to leave and come back, I'm going to throw the best Welcome home to ponyville surprise party, and you're all invited!" pinkie cheered while hopping down next to Applejack. Fluttershy shook her head, "umm pinkie? I don't think its a surprise party if you tell the pony the party is for, I-I think, I mean you're the party expert, I guess..." Fluttershy trailed off before laying on her stomach next to Rainbow Dash, trying her best to shrink in size, then hiding under her mane upon noticing everyponies attention was on her. The conversation died shortly after as they turned their attention to a murmuring Twilight, the lavender mare was glancing around, shifting her attention between the sky and the book at her hooves. "Remind me again why you brought that?" Rainbow Dash asked breaking the lull over the conversation. "Hmm? Oh Right, hehe..." Twilight looked back at her friends with a sheepish smile, "you see, tonight there is suppose to be a large comet called the 'Pegacorn Comet' passing by Equess. The comet comes roughly every thousand years, when it passes it is Visible in the sky for an entire week, during that time there are almost constant meteor showers, from what Luna told me the display should be visible not too long after Sunset". Pinkies Eyes widened at the news, "oh my gosh, do you know what this calls for?" "A party?" Twilight asked with a roll of her eyes, causing the rest of her friends to laugh. As the laughter died down Twilight finally laid down, splaying her legs out across the blanket, as she turned her attention up to the stars. Soon the expected white streaks became more visible as the twilight sun broke for dusk. She watched as the Streaks of lights flashed across the sky, however, 10 minutes into her relaxation the comet finally came into sight, bathing the night sky in a white hue. At the sight of the comet, her eyes began to feel heavy and a haze Quickly fell over her mind, numbing her senses. She did not fight it as her vision pulsed between clear and fuzzy, causing the stars to come in and out of focus as it did. She could not help but giggle at the sensations of a chill and warmth that suddenly engulfed her body in a comforting mix. To her, it felt as if the world was spinning beneath her, and in her drunken state she could only stare up at the stars. "...Twilight..." a familiar voice echoed, but she could not guess who as the voice was drowned out to the back of the mare's mind. As she stared at the sky, to her the stars themselves appeared to have moved closer to her. "Twilight?..." funny its almost like I could just', she thought while raising her hoof into the air, as she did she imagined herself poking one of the stars, only to gasp when a shockwave engulfed the stars above sending them rippling through the void. 'SMACK' "TWILIGHT, SNAP OUT OF IT!" She cringed from the stinging pain across her muzzle, causing the fog over her mind to Dissipate. Her eyes shot open once more finding a purple dragon standing over her, looking very worried. Sitting up twilight raised her hoof to cover the source of the pain, as she scowled down at the baby dragon. "Spike, did you just slap me?" she asked coldly causing the dragon to take a step back. "Sorry twilight you were acting weird and weren't responding and i..." Twilight sighed "it's alright spike", she said, glancing around expecting to find the rest of her friends. they were alone, upon noticing their absence she gave the dragon a confused look. "They all went home about an hour ago, I-I was trying to get your attention but you were just laying there, I was worried", Sighing she looked back towards ponyville "I guess I was a bit tired from the walkout here... or something" she said while rubbing her muzzle with her hoof, "I suppose we should head back then", with a Flash of her Aura the Picnic blanket folded on its self and teleported into spikes hands, before the baby dragon was lifted onto the unicorn's back. "Comfortable?" she asked, with a nod twilight lit her horn and in a flash of light they were gone from the hillside The door to the golden oak library swung open, making way for a sleepy dragon and his caretaker. Upon his entrance spike tossed their picnic supplies to the floor next to the door before mumbling something about taking care of it in the morning, then lifelessly waddled up the stairs to their shared living quarters. All of this, however, was almost completely lost to the mare who just gave him a nod of acknowledgment as he left, she then started to pace in circles around the library, her mind was on something other than a sleepy dragon, ever since she was snapped out of her daydream, she had been thinking of the hallucination, trying to make sense of it. 'it does not make any sense, one moment I was watching the stars and then the next...' her eyes widened, "THE COMET!" she exclaimed in excitement, making her way towards her bookshelves. 'Perhapse there is some magic effect the comet has on unicorns', she thought while going through the Astronomy section, searching for anything useful about the Pegacorn Comet, however, she only found what she had already known, from what metals make up the comet, to how often it passes the planet, all of which was as common knowledge as Equess being the Center of the universe. She made her way through Psychology and even magic theory and astronomy in an attempt to find any mention of the pegacorn Comet. Thankfully she finally gave up before even considering going through the pseudoscience of astrology. Pulling herself from her studies, she decided to make her way up to the bedroom. Once she opened the door and entered, she could not help but silently giggle at the sight of the snoring baby dragon whos green fire lit up the room with every breath he took from his snoring as he slept Making her way to her bed she used her magic to pull back the covers and Floped into it like dead weight, she just stared at the leafy roof to the bedroom in the silence of the dark night, which was only interrupted by the dim green light and small puffs of flame that occasionally lit up the room. Like a phantom watching over her, she could still remember the sensations she felt laying under the Comet, like an alcoholic going through withdrawal, the sensations danced over her mind, begging for her to find a way to feel it once more. Almost subconsciously her eyes drifted towards the window and the night sky beyond it, still bright from the comet's light as it made its way across the sky. 'I'm not going to sleep tonight am I?' she groaned to her self, glancing back to her number one assistant, who was still snoring. her gaze then slowly drifted over to her writing desk by the balcony door. she let out a Sigh, she fell on to her hooves once more, before making her way to the writing desk, she picked up a Quill and pulled out a fresh page of parchment and started writing a new letter... Dear Princess Celestia Dear Princess Luna Due to the time of which this letter arrives and along the lines of the letter subject, I am writing to you in concerns to the Pegacorn comet. I have noticed a phenomenon while stargazing that I believe to be related to the comet, and I had been trying to figure out the cause of it, I had tried to find any references through any book that may have mention of the Pegacorn Comet, subjects such as Astronomy, Psychology, and Magic theory I was wondering if you know of any book in the Canterlot Archives or even better if you know anything about the Comets effect upon the mind such as hallucinations, fatigue, dizziness... etcetera. I myself cannot seem to stop thinking of the Phenomenon, so I find my self writing to you for help. If you know anything on the matter I'll be in Canterlot tomorrow, Spike is currently sleeping and I do not wish to worry him with a letter tonight. Your friend, Twilight Sparkle Reading over the parchment for the third time, she nodded in approval before rolling it up in her magic and levitated it over to Spike, she always felt a little guilty taking advantage of Spikes snoring in such ways, however, when it comes to late night letters she did not want the baby dragon to see, she must admit to herself his snoring comes in handy. On the next Puff of flame from the sleeping dragon, the letter burst into smoke as it was consumed by green flames before spiraling out the crack of the Balcony Door. ~ ~ ~ ~ Golden oak library in ponyville ~✶~ The Sun, to most its a symbol for new beginnings, it marks the beginning of a new day, it is warmth, and brightness. To Twilight? It is the most unholy part of the morning sky. The blasphemous rays struck the lavender unicorn's face. Letting out a moan of Defiance she clamped her eyes shut, using her hooves she pulled the pillow out from under her head and wrapped it over her eyes, letting out a sigh she started to nod off once more. Then the ungodly ringing started, jumping slightly she let out a loud grunt before grabbing her pillow once more, whacking the Infernal machine on the nightstand with the makeshift weapon, the alarm clock soared across the room before smashing against her personal bookcase. Dropping the pillow, Twilight rolled over and cracked open her eyes, "I, HATE, MORNINGS...", she groggily huffed to herself. rolling out of bed she failed to notice the sheets still wrapped around her until it was too late. With a loud thump, she found herself chin first on the hard wooden floor, "Oof". glaring back at the sheets she groaned once more before kicking her back hooves to free herself. once she was freed she let out a yawn and stood up, she stood on the tips of her hooves and stretched her legs, which made a satisfying pop sound and the most wonderful feeling anypony could ever feel, if she was honest with herself it was the only thing worth getting up in the morning for. yawning once more she made her way into the bathroom and brushed her teeth, and took a sip of water to rid herself of the odd taste that dared to take refuge in her mouth as she slept. after swallowing the water and dared to look at herself in the mirror. If she was Rarity, then the mare looking back at her would have been a lethal sight, if asked she wouldn't be able to decide if it was because of the messy hair, the matted fur, or the bags under her eyes. Cupping her hooves under the sink she turned on the water with her magic then splashed herself in the face to wake her self up “SWEET CELESTIA!”, she yelped as the freshly drawn water trailed down her chest, making its way down her front legs, the coldness alone causing her goosebumps and uncontrollable shivering. with newfound energy, it did not take her long to attack her mane and coat with a swarm of magically levitated brushes Exiting her bathroom, she made her way to the balcony doors, opening them she stepped outside. being the Personal student to Princess Celestia meant you tend to pick up on many of her habits, the most satisfying of which was her morning tea time. so, therefore, she was not surprised to see her tea-set on her balcony waiting to be used, however, what did surprise her was the checklist in front of her tea set. picking it up she read it over. Saturdays To-Do List Make a To-Do List of things to do when waking up tomorrow morning, ✔ Place in front of Tea set to not forget about what needs to be done, ✔ Verify that Today is Saturday and that you're in a hurry to catch the Canter-mount Express Twilight blinked staring down at it as if it was incomprehensible gibberish, then it dawned on her, "IM GOING TO BE TARDY", she cried out before charging back inside with checklist foaling in-toe, galloping to the bathroom, Twilight's magic spread into the room before her toothbrush and shampoos joined her checklist. She running around the room in circles. she finally decided that her closet was her next stop, with a flash of her horn her suitcase on the top shelf and the levitated items vanished and reappeared on her bed, with the levitated items place neatly inside. Pack toothbrush and extra shampoo, ✔ making her way over to the bookshelf she pulled out a journal before running over to her writing desk, levitating out 5 pieces of parchment and at least 20 quills. they too were teleported into the suitcase Pack your homework/research journal and extra quills and parchment, ✔ Zipping up the suitcase, she lit her horn once more. This time she was going to doing something she had never done before, as all of her friends could tell you she loved the teleportation spell, however, while it is an easy spell the mathematics that goes into the spell runes making up the simple spell are more complicated. The spell runes of the Teleport spell takes the space around you or an object and a targeted location and temporarily stitches them together, then the object just needs to Peirce the fabric of space to drop into the receiving end. The amount of magic needed depends on the weight of the item, plus Radius of the area the object is in, times the Distance Traveled Squared. If the distance is out of sight you would need to imagine the space you want to end up in, which requires a rune that heavily drains on the spellcasters magic. in this case, the product of our equation is Cubed instead of squared. Smiling she could not help but think about a special crystal she made last Monday to hold an amount of magic to power a teleportation runic Circle she had edged into the front door in her Canterlot tower, when connecting her teleportation spell to that space it should take half as much magic from the caster, as the two spells will meet halfway. 'let's hope this works' she thought while casting the spell, and in a flash of light, the suitcase was gone. she stared at the bed for a few moments after it vanished half expecting it to reappear due to the strings holding the rift together collapsing because of a lack of magic, causing the suitcase to be slingshot back into the room as the rift rebuilt on its self. she, however, sighed in relief when it did not reappear. "ok, two more things on the checklist', she said turning around to read them off wakeup the Grumpy Dragon and head down to the train, remind sed Grumpy dragon on the way to the train of his chores around the library, looking up to the baby dragon in his basket, she frowned to see he was still asleep, "Spike its time to wake up!" she called, receiving nothing in response, she ripped the blanket off of him, "SPIKE! WE ARE GOING TO BE LATE!" she yelled finally startling the baby dragon awake. his eyes snapped open he jerked his body up into a sitting position, "GAAAAH!" he yelled, before slowly turning his head towards twilight. As he did, she swore she heard the sound of screechy hinges, coming from the now staring baby dragon, his eyes were bloodshot and he had even worse bags under his eyes then she did not too long ago, which made his face slightly unreadable. "REALLY TWILIGHT!? COULD YOU NOT LET ME SLEEP IN FOR ONE CELESTIA DAMNED DAY?" he Boomed, instinctually causing twilight to jump back onto her back hooves, so she may use her front to protect herself from any potential projectiles. getting over the surprise loudness of the baby dragon's outburst, she lowered back down onto all four legs while giving him a look of disapproval "Spike!, you know not to yell in a library, now~ UMPF!" She was interrupted by a rogue pillow from spikes basket, "seriously? do you not hear yourself during your morning freakouts?! I bet even rainbow dash on the other side of Ponyville knows that 'you're going to be tardy' " "I am not that loud in the mornings!" Spike just raised an eyebrow at that. "seriously? no one in town even sets their alarm clocks in the morning anymore", he stated as if it was a fact, "I bet you are the only one who even buys them these days", he accused pointing a claw at the smashed alarm clock laying on the floor. twilight just shook off the argument. "what is up with you this morning?" she asked, "honestly I almost never see you this grumpy". spike just grumbled while walking out of the room. twilight followed as he made his way into the kitchen, "what was that?" "Pinkie pie decided it was a good idea to visit us earlier this morning, to give you a goodbye gift", he responded rolling his eyes, while starting a batch of coffee, for breakfast Twilight simply grabbed and bit into an apple. "so", twilight swallowed, "what was so important about the gift, that It could not wait until morning". once finished, he took a sip of the dark liquid, "a surprise letter, she wanted me to sneak it into your suitcase, seriously that mare can get on your nerves". "ugh, what did she do now?" shaking his head spike could not help but chuckle thinking of pinkies antics. "she arrived knocking on the balcony door at Eleven-fifty, I told her to come back in the morning and use the front door, I went back to bed only to be awakened again at midnight." 15 minutes Later... "Well Spike I better get going," Twilight said after breakfast levitating a sponge to spike, as he washed his own dishes, "remember you are not allowed to go to Rarity's house until you finish cleaning up the living quarters and putting away the returned library books." twilight said walking towards the kitchen door "ye ye yeah..." spike said brushing off her reminder. "oh," she exclaimed while stopping in the doorway, "and please don't forget~" "Twilight!" spike shouted interrupting the lavender unicorn, "you're going to be late." her eyes widened slightly at those words "right gotta go sorry," she said quickly walking out of the library's front door, soon followed by a slam Raising of the sun in Canterlot Castle ~✹~ The light of the rising sun struck down upon an Alabaster mare as she sat at her balcony table, the table that hosted many of her tea breaks. Celestia could not help but gaze down at the small town on the horizon. Her weekend morning tea had always been on her Schedule, but her normal weekly schedule ends here. Staring down at the town of ponyville, she could almost see the smoke from the train 'the Canter-mount Express' as it carried her most faithful student ever closer, for three whole days of Study. Since Twilight had moved to ponyville their Lessons had changed, and while they are seen as Student and teacher by the public, perhaps even Twilight believes that as well, In truth, their adventures together into Advanced magic had evolved from Student and teacher to fellow peers working together to expand their knowledge of magic. Though she had noticed it, she had always feared to share the knowledge to anypony that Twilight had met her own understanding of magic. The truth was if Twilight and her own Reserves of magic were the same, then in magic talent, they would be at the very least evenly matched. of course, this is to an extent, there are many more schools of magic far too dangerous for anypony to learn, magic that is now considered both forbidden and even forgotten to all but her and her sister, it is one of many perks of being an Immortal Goddess who lived through such trying times, when those ancient magics ran rampant through the ancient lands of Equestria. she had thought of cutting Twilight loose from her mentorship and allowing her to go forth and become one of the best mages out there. however, whenever she got close to doing so, it weighed on her heart as if she was abandoning a cute puppy that she loved onto the roadside. The very thought that if she did indeed break such bond with her student made her fear that she would never see her again, and It was always enough to keep her mouth shut. So while she sat there watching the small Plooms of the smoke of the Canter-mount Express as it brought her student ever closer to Canterlot for there weekly 'lessons', the princess of the sun was at a loss of what to teach her faithful student that weekend. For the last 2 years, she had been scraping the bottom of the barrel of her knowledge for something she could teach her. Using her magic Celestia brought her tea up for one of many sips, before placing it back down. With a Sigh of satisfaction, her gaze turned from the train up to the morning sky, her gaze fell upon the Comet as its light flickered across the morning Sky, like a sleepy star about to go to sleep for the day. At the sight of the comet, she could feel the warmth of the sun as it radiated within her, the Heat caressing her Fur and mane as if the Sun itself was giving her a caring hug. The sky seemed to Brighten in her eyes, as her mane and tail turned from its ethereal form to a dancing golden flame "Perhaps I could take advantage of the comet for a lesson," she mused to herself. Sighing she turned away from the Comet, allowing the sensations to slip away, before turning her attention back to the plumes of smoke that marked her student's current location. "Indeed, Dear sister, I believe that would be a topic she would be most interested in", came a new, yet well-known voice. Celestia slightly turned her head to shoot a Glance back to the balcony doors, to see her sister, as she manifested out from the shadows cast by the castle walls, within her magical grasp a scroll floated as she made her way over to sit on the other side of the tea table. "Praytell Lulu, how would you know that?" Celestia asked, furrowing her Brows in slight confusion before her attention fell upon the scroll in her sister's magic, or rather the scroll's broken wax seal, bearing Twilight's cutie mark. Smirking Slightly Luna tilted her muzzle up in pride, and allowed a grin to spread across her face as she levitated the letter over to her. "Twilight Decided to write to me about my Night sky, tis step one to taking thy student for mine self". Taking the letter in her own Magic, Celestia could not help but roll her eyes at the mischievous glint in her sister's eyes, "you know sister, perhaps that is not a bad idea." Luna's eyes widened in surprise as she snapped her muzzle back down to stare at Celestia, "Truly, you would hand over your student that easily?" Celestia could not help but chuckle, "believe it or not, dear sister, you would be doing me a favor, I truly am out of ideas of what to teach her." Luna just looked at her with a deadpan stare, "if that was the case why is she still your student, from what I hear a student in her mid-twenties still under your Mentorship is something never happened before? I had always assumed that she was just a slow learner." At that moment Celestia could not help but find the stonework of the Balcony Fascinating, not that it was any different from the rest of the castle, only that that the sudden Fascination felt much more comfortable than meeting her sisters Judging eyes. she was already regretting saying anything, but she knew she had to say something to defend her self. "I... I-I well, umm..." she stammered in a failed response. Luna sighed, "Tis not a problem if you enjoy her company. If thy wish to court her then do so already". "What!" Celestia Jerked up in response, Blushing Slightly at the thought, "Its nothing like that, it's just to her, i am her teacher, she is my 'faithful student'. but to me, she is my friend", Celestia said, before allowing her gaze to drop to the scroll in her magic, "it's funny how similar ponies treat their rulers compared to gods, Saddle Arabia, Prance, even the Neightherlands, its the same treatment. prince, princess, king, or queen, to our subjects we are priceless objects upon a pedestal in an art gallery, always watching the piece of perfection, and treading carefully to make sure they don't knock it over otherwise they will pay the price. after a thousand years, a life full of that can be quite lonely, especially when you look outside and see one of the friendliest kingdoms to ever exist. she treats me the same way though she goes further than most ponies, did you know she preys to me such as the ponies did 900 years ago? well the only difference is I don't think she actually knows what it means to be an alicorn such as they." Luna could not help but shudder, most likely at the memories of the constant Prayers made in her name from those days. "yes, I could see why that annoys you." "she is my friend, I just don't think she sees me the same way," she said allowing her ears folded back, as she turned her gaze to her hooves as her true thoughts caught in her throat as if speaking them would make them come true. unfortunately for her, Luna Picked up on what she was saying, "you fear that if you allow her to graduate she will move on with her life, leaving you in her past", a tear Escaped the Alabaster mare's face as she nodded, it was the only thing she could do to admit her fears. Letting out a sigh Luna Draped her wing over her sister. "Sister, I feel that your fears are ungrounded, however, I feel this conversation should be put off for later, and I would indeed be happy to teach dear twilight in your stead, but it would need to wait," she said nuzzling her sister's neck in an attempt to calm the Solar goddess Letting out a sigh Celestia turned her attention back to her teacup, the steam that was once coming from the brown liquid moments ago in stand absent, picking it up in her magic she took another sip, and to her dismay the comforting warmth in the back of her throat that she loved so much was nowhere to be found. letting out a grunt in frustration she place the cup back down, "then why have you come, sister, I know you do not fancy tea". "do I need a reason to speak with my beloved sister?" she asked in mock offense, Withdrawing her wing back to her side, and giving her older sister an accusing stare. Celestia smirked and rolled her eyes, "oh please Lulu, you would normally Expel anypony out of the castle who disturbs you before noon, and yet you are up to experience my sunrise during my morning tea time" she said taking another sip of her tea, letting the now lukewarm tea touch her lips, pausing her sip halfway she glared down at the offending cup before angerly throwing it from the balcony, before stamping her hoof in frustration. glancing back at the Midnight blue alicorn by her side, her sister looked back at her with concern and worry on her face at her antics. "Truly sister? I know you to treat criminals with more mercy than you do with cold tea." "probably because they don't stall me from drinking it while it's still hot" she retorted under her breath "Regardless, I have come to talk to you about that letter, I assure you that it is important," Luna said, motioning her head over to the scroll still in Celestia's magical grasp. rolling it open, Celestia's eyes scanned the Content of the parchment, eyes wide she did not seem to notice her jaw had slowly dropped open as she read, "But how would she be affected, she is only a Unicorn?" "That is what I'm here to discuss with you, Tia I am Concerned with the implications of her being affected by the Comet's Presents" Celestia shook her head, "well, in all honesty, I had always known twilight to be more in tune to magic than any other pony I've ever met, perhaps she had become sensitive enough to feel the power of the Comet" Luna could not help but slam her head down onto the tea table, "TIA!" she screeched "please take this seriously, you know as well as I do only three entities in this universe could sense the divine power placed within that comet, two of which are right here on this balcony, and the third is trapped away with little hope to be freed!" sighing she looked back up at her older sister, "do you honestly believe that? she is a mortal, she, not even a pegacorn let alone an alicorn." Once the sun was high enough in the sky, Celestia stood and stretched the kinks out of her shoulders before making her way to the balcony door, with luna's gaze firmly locked on her, "have you noticed her cutie mark yet? it's a six-pointed star surrounded by five smaller stars, do you know what else I find interesting about it? her special talent is magic." she said stopping at the door, " regardless if she is mortal or not, the more I think about it, it does make sense for her to have some connection to the divine power of the cosmos," she said before making her way into her room "no... Tia wait!" Luna called, chasing after her sister's retreating form as they made their way into the castle halls. they made their way down the stairs and out of the Private wing of the castle, and into the public halls. as they walked passed guards they stiffened into a Salute while castle guests and servants alike scrambled out of their way to prostrate themselves before their rulers on either side of them. while Celestia acknowledged them with a slight nod of the head, Luna was too distracted to even notice their Presence, "are you saying that there is a possibility for her to have the power to control the stars?" she asked, begging her to say no with the tone of her question. Celestia stopped before the main hall leading to the throne room, looking up in thought "well, I would say the only way to find out is to test her, perhaps we should try and reforge~" "nononononono no, NO!" Luna shouted cutting off her sister before she could finish giving voice to her thoughts, and moving herself in front of the alabaster mare, "there is no way I am allowing anypony to touch her stars, you may not know this Tia, but the Scepter of the stars is not safe, creating it was a mistake." "your right lulu, I do not know what you went through to gain control of the stars, nor do I know what led you to become Nightmare moon, all I know is we lost our younger sister," Celestia said allowing her head to droop to look pleadingly towards her, "but twilight might be the key to freeing her, we can finally have our family back." Luna just stared at her for a moment before making her way past her, "Fine, send her to her death on some test" she relented coldly, "but you cannot stop me from doing all I can in controlling the amount of damage this will cause, now I'm going back to sleep" "thank you, Lulu, that's all I asked for," she said, continuing towards the throne room, "please have faith in her, after all, she had already brought you back to me." to her dismay, she could not hear her sister's half-spoken rebuttal. ~ ~ ~ ~ The Arrival of Lady Twilight Sparkle ~✶~ "Canterlot City, Last stop! thank you all for riding the Canter-Mount express, please exit to your left and have a nice day!" the Train Conductor called out, escorting the group of ponies out of the train when Twilight finally stepped out of the crowd and off the platform onto the cobblestone road, she could not help but let out a deep breath, "I'm home", she whispered to herself as she watched the locals walk the streets of the capital, the very city she grew up in. Living in Ponyville has always been interesting and fun due to the unique culture of the town, a culture that leads to stuff such as a stampede of bunnies, Disasters, or town-sized musical numbers about Smiling. The nights are always better in Ponyville due to the lack of city lights which had always gotten in the way of her stargazing, also the lack of noise that came from the nightlife Culture that comes hand in hand in large cities do make it easier to read in the park before bed, however, despite all of that, Canterlot had always been and always will be home, after all her family had lived here in the Family manner for generations. Even if she discounted her obligations to the Armor Noble house, this city had stayed her home because of the many memories the lavender unicorn had of living here, from going to donut joes with her big and little brother, the book forts she had constructed to holdfast and vanquish the evil cadence and lay waste to her Magazine empire, playing Ogres and Oubliettes with shiny and his nerdy friends Poindexter and 8-bit, monster hunting through the castle maze and royal Gardens with her big brother, but most importantly this place was home because of The Princess, her mentor who had taught her everything she knew today from magic, the Sciences, history, and due to heritage noble etiquette, something in which to her confusion the princess always enthusiastically insisted that she should learn only from her and use all the time. in truth, Canterlot will always be home because this is where Princess Celestia lives, and if she was honest to herself Celestia was always like a second mother to her. "Lady Twilight", a voice pierced her reverie, allowing her to notice a white stallion guard standing before her. upon noticing that he had gotten her attention, he continued speaking after giving her a slight bow as accustomed to nobility, one of many formalities that she had forgotten since moving to Ponyville, "we are here as ordered by her royal highness of the sun, to escort you to the castle via chariot," he said, holding out his hoof. Grabbing hold, she allowed him to guide her to the chariot parked just behind him, a motion that felt awkward to her due to being in Ponyville for three years where no one knows nor care of her noble title, a title which she had intentionally kept a secret from the town and her friends, especially the Canterlot obsessed Rarity, and Applejack the honest and hardworking farmer. once the Guards had latched themselves to the Chariot, they started towards the castle on the other end of the city. Twilight was finally able to relax for the rest of the ride, as long as she did not notice the faces of the gawking tourists, who were clearly wondering who she was to earn the privilege of riding through the city in such a way. By the time they reach the castle, it was nearly noon. Once they had reached the front gates, the guards led Twilight straight to the throne room. "thank you for the escort kind gentlecolts," she said giving them a soft nod who gave a slight bow of the head in response "of course my lady," one of them said before they made their leave. Turning around twilight took a deep breath to calm herself while staring up at the gold plated doors in front of her, 'ok its finally over', she thought, nodding to the door guards, who lit their horns in response, opening the doors to reveal the sun princess sitting upon the room's only throne. Twilight could not help but smile as she made her way in, with every step she had to force down her temptation to pounce on the alabaster mare on the throne and drown her self in nuzzles, after all, she was not a foal anymore. Instead, she bowed before her and waited for her to order otherwise. Unbeknownst to Twilight, her lack of affection had left a stabbing pain in the Diarch's heart something well hidden behind Celestia's court mask "Rise, my faithful student, I hope you had a pleasant ride?" "o-oh umm, o-of course your royal highness," she responded hesitantly while failing to hide the awkwardness left behind by her usual treatment here in Canterlot The Princess smiled and let out a small chuckle in an attempt to break the formalities, "I see, so you're still uncomfortable with the formalities?" she asked, allowing the irony of this situation to enter her tone. Taking the hint Twilight subconsciously lowered her head slightly into a submissive position, before answering, "yes Princess, I'm still trying to get over it." Celestia Frowned before standing up to walk towards Twilight, who couldn't help but notice by her walk, that she was slightly annoyed. This cause the unicorn to tremble and lower herself slightly with each step. Unknowingly causing the Diarch to become more annoyed. By the Time Celestia Stopped in front of her, Twilight had slipped into a deep bow. With her hoof, Celestia pulled up Twilight's chin before wrapping her in her hooves and wings in a tight embrace, as if it was the last time they would ever see each other again. "I'm glad you arrived in Canterlot so soon," Celestia said in a soft and melancholy tone. "I u-Um well y-your welcome, um P-Princess," the now Flustered Twilight said in response. breaking the hug Celestia held her student at an arms-length way and smiled, making sure they made eye contact. "Now", Celestia started, letting go of her student and stepping back, "I bet you have some bags to unpack for the weekend?" "Yes, I had teleported them to my room before I left, I'm still learning how to teleport heavier objects long distances, without accidentally placing them in a wall or something" "Well, I should leave you to it then, remember our lessons start before sunrise. I have something special planned," Celestia said then giving her student a Mischievous smile, "then I thought I would surprise you with a test." "T-T-Test?" Twilight Stammered, stiffening up at the very words that left her own lips. "Well... I suppose its more of a big research project with a test at the end, but no need to worry, I'll explain everything when we get to it, I do believe you will enjoy it." Twilight Practically Vibrated at the words research project, allowing a smile to spread across her face "YES YES YES!" she cried out in excitement prancing up and wrapping her arms around the Solar Princess. "I GOTTA UNPACK, I'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW PRINCESS!" she practically shouted breaking the hug then pranced out of the throne room 30 minutes later... "STUPID STUPID STUPID!" Twilight berated herself after throwing herself onto the bed, she could not stop remembering how she left the princess in the throne room, 'I lost control of myself restraint and threw myself onto the princess, then pranced out like a little filly who just got her cutie mark', she thought while groaning ,'why is it I always lose control of my self around her, my father would kill me if he ever saw that'. sighing Twilight sat up before levitating the bags over from the front door, where she teleported them this morning. she dropped them on the bed with a thump. unzipping it she used her magic to levitate out her toothbrush, toothpaste, her quills, pages of parchment, and then her usual magic research journals that she had been writing since moving to Ponyville, journals that contained her very own Discoveries in the Arcane Arts. "The princess will want to look over this", she stared down at the worn book and smiled before placing it on the bed. then she noticed it, a pink letter placed as a bookmark in the middle of the journal, she took the letter out and read the note written on the front pinkie pie woke me at 4 AM to sneak this letter into your bags, I hope it's worth you dealing with me when you Inevitably wake me up in three hours ~Spike rolling her eyes Twilight opened the letter and pulled out a picture, staring at it she could see that it was of the following night, she was laying on her back surrounded by spike and all of her friends, as they watched the meteor shower in amazement. 'who in Tartarus took this picture' she thought to herself before remembering it was given to spike by Pinkie Pie Receiving the letter itself is actually quite expected, every week, when she went to Canterlot her friends give her a picture of an event that happened that week, it had become a tradition not long after moving to Ponyville, it was their way of saying regardless of where you go, we will always be with you, and it always made her tear up slightly knowing that she had such great friends, turning over the picture she read the message on the back. We all feel sorry that you won't be able to make it to the summer solstice party happening before the summer sun celebration, and I wish you luck on your Research Project ~Pinkie Pie shaking her head, Twilight opened the drawer to her nightstand and place the picture inside with the others from the following weeks. Letting out a sigh, she laid back on her bed and closed her eyes, "thank you, girls, for everything". Later that Evening ~☽~ as the day turned to night and the lights of the castle slowly went out nopony seemed to notice the cloaked pony who slipped out of the castle gardens, and into the streets of Canterlot, taking flight luna soared past the noble districts and landed among Canterlot's poor District. weaving through the ally ways she came across a rundown storefront that would have stood out in any other part of the royal city. though worn down, the sign outside the shop read 'The Drunken Huntsmen'. It was a tavern she had come to many times, and while a lot of times it was for the pleasure of a wine glass, today like most of her visits was for business. entering luna could not help but notice the lack of customers within the tavern, as she walked her eyes scanned the room for any possible eavesdroppers, thankfully the few ponies in the bar were out of the way. letting out a sigh of relief she approached the bar counter and smiled when noticing the dark grey stallion behind the counter, currently cleaning the dust from that night's glasses. "Thieves Can't, just the pony we wished to see," Luna said pulling back her hood slightly so he may see her face. turning around his eyes lit up. "ah, if it isn't my favorite customer, to what do I owe the honor of your visit this night, princess", she could not help but scowl at that. "doest thee not notice by thy cloak that we may not wish for thy subjects to know we were here?" "well, I assumed by the cloak that you wanted ponies to notice you", he smiled "after all only a pony begging for ponies to notice them wears stuff like that to conceal themselves, if I may be honest you most likely did the opposite of what you intended by wearing it." Luna frowned at that, "please spare us, our guards are trained to look for stealthy criminals in such wears and have caught many ponies in such~", she paused upon noticing that his smile deepened as he tried to hold back his amusement, "do tell what do you find so funny." "Well, you are a Monarch, the creator of laws and the Judge and jury of those who break them, yet here the real criminals are, and not in your castle's dungeons. If I was indeed a criminal, and I'm not saying I am, I would think I would know the best way to commit a crime would be in the crowd where you may blend in." Luna rolled her eyes, "please, we already know much of thy Business and the crimes thou commits, if it was not for your useful contacts in the criminal underworld you would already be in chains," at that Thieves Cant looked back at her in mock offense. "I have no clue of what you're talking about, I am just a pony with many friends, each with unique and very employable talents for those who are interested," "right, your an upstanding citizen," she Deadpanned before grinning, "and because of that I think I would know better than you the Behaviors of criminals, after all, they come before me every day for trial". "ah but that's the thing isn't it, a real criminal you can count on to get a job done never gets caught, most of the ponies that you sentence are simple amateurs that follow the stereotypes, that we all know and look out for, a mugger in a dark alleyway hungry for some poor stallions bits? too predictable, try pickpocketing saddlebags in a Touristrap where there is very little security, lots of ponies, no-pony is the wiser when your shoulder to shoulder with another." Luna could not help but laugh, "in that case by your own definition, me knowing of your existence makes you an amateur Criminal." "well, as I said I am no criminal, but in the Theoretical chance I was, then I would be in the exception to such rule, Ensure you always hold value to the criminals or deals you work for, for once the value runs out, so does their reason to keep you around." placing down his glass he turned his full attention to the princess. "so 'master criminal', let us get to our main topic, why have you come, are you finding your self thirsty?", he smiled, "or are you looking for somepony to assist you in something." "well, we... I suppose I could go for the usual" Luna responded pulling out the barstool to take a seat. shrugging slightly, he turned away to grab a glass. "one Star Swirl on the rocks coming up!" he half-shouted, causing luna to grin at the mental image that always popped up at that name. If she was honest with herself, the name alone was the only reason it was her usual "so... anything interesting happening at the castle lately," he asked while mixing the requested drink luna summoned a sack and unceremoniously dropped it on the counter, as her face turned thoughtful, "well, My sister's student is going to be partaking in an assignment I really do not agree with", using his magic thieves cant opened the sack and peeked inside to find plenty of bits, noticing there are way more bits in there to cover at least 25 more drinks, his normal grin turn mischievous. "yes, the famous noble heir to house armor, heard she was recently responsible for your return, its funny, the closer to Princess Celestia one gets the more famous you seem to get." "yes, she had always had that effect on ponies," luna said, unintentionally letting a slight bitterness drip into her words. "so why don't you tell me more about her Assignment, I am a bit curious on the reasons of why you do not agree with it, " he asked while placing the Alchiholic beverage on the counter. "Humm... well the assignment is to discover a way to reforge a powerful Scepter, my problem with it is that the power the scepter holds can cause some consequences for both the one who uses it and even the world as a whole, even if only few could use the power, I know that I could cause trouble", luna mused out loud before taking a sip, "if only I knew where my old journals are after the thousand years, I would ensure that they never come together, but alas I lost track of those blasted torn up black leather-bound books long ago" she finished with a shake of her head before taking a large swig of her drink, "the last thing I would want is for anypony to get hurt." "I suppose that does sound a bit troubling, I do wish you luck with your situation, who knows perhaps the books will turn up in due time, I can keep an ear open for you if you wish, you would be surprised what ponies say when drunk" thieves cant said chuckling slightly. placing three more bits on the table, "well if they do turn up before twilight could find them, then that would be just perfect." she said "now, please enlighten me, if you do not approve of me using a cloak and, and going through alleyways to get around, then do tell how would you get around." "I suppose if I wanted to get through a crowd, I could use makeup, or wigs to hide my true color, being here in the refined Canterlot also makes clothing an option, ponies around here like their dress up but if your a pony like me, or perhaps some of my friends then perhaps there is a more convenient way to get around," he said while light his horn, luna watched as the unicorn stallions body became blurred, and started morphing. moments later the spell cleared from him, but in his place stood a white earth pony mare. leaning over the table she stared at luna with half-lidded almost condescending eyes "truely the matron of dreams could be more creative in how she could move around, I would have thought that the Shepard of the night, you would have mastered Illusion spells." luna rolled her eye letting out a light huff, "Shepard of the moon," she murmured to her self "Sorry, I did not catch that" thieves cant admitted, raising his illusionary eyebrow "We must head back to attend our nightly duties," she said while getting up, before making her way for the door. "ah well, its been fun as always." ~ ~ ~ ~ A letter to CelestiaAuthor's Note this would have been the Epilogue to Legend of the Sun moon and stars i will most likely never use this though its a fun read A letter to Celestia Epilogue ~~Dear Princess Celes~~... ~~Dear Celestia~~... Dear Sister foremost, I would like to thank you again for all of the guidance you had given me throughout the years while I was your student. Looking back at the years under your wing, I have come to Reread a lot of what you had told me throughout those years, and even the sorrow I saw within your eyes from time to time. Until now I would not understand what was the cause of your pain. When I learned of The Moon's banishment and her relationship to you, my best guess was that the pain was of losing her and through my time in ponyville I had assumed that having The Moon back you would finally be happy. I knew you caught on to my attention and you tried your best to suppress your emotions, however hard you tried to hide it from me, I still noticed the longing in your eyes as we parted back to ponyville from our weekly Advanced Magic lessons as if you were hoping to see something inside me that is no longer. At times I had assumed that you had missed having me live at the castle, in truth ever since Fluttershy vanished in the Everfree Castle and was declared dead soon after, the aura in ponyville had changed. Pinkie no longer bounces like she used to, and I hardly remember the last time she laughed. I am not certain but I believe Pinkie is thinking about moving back to her families rock farm, but she would not be the first to move away. while I was away undergoing the mysteries of the old temples beyond the north, apparently, Rarity moved to manehattan to try and start a new life as a bartender or something, as an attempt to forget what she had seen at the castle. From what I heard from Applejack she decided to change her name so no one would be able to track her down. My only wish is that I would give her a hug and ask how she is fairing, but Applejack had me promise to not search for her, "it will only bring back memories to see us" Applejack would normally say. at the least hope Rarity is doing better than Applejack. Applejack is still the most stubborn pony I've ever met and she would have me believe that she is fine, but... I still worry about her. I first noticed that she no longer runs the family stand at the farmers market, apparently, she had passed that responsibility to Applebloom not too long after she had earned her cutie mark. And while I can pass that off, after watching applejack recent behaviors I have come to realize she no longer does anything around the farm nor does she ever leave it, all she seems to do is sit and stare out of the second story window of her house towards the Everfree Forest. On the bright side, at least Rainbow dash had moved on. while I was gone, apparently she had entered the Wonderbolt reserves and moved back to Cloudsdale, and even though I have yet to learn how to fly, I was able to take the hot air balloon up to see some of her shows, Apparently, due to my new title wonderbolt show tickets are free even if a show is sold out, I also could get anyone into any wonderbolt show without a ticket required. in the end, rainbow seems happier than ever before, and I'm happy to see the life she had made for herself. a couple of weeks ago she had learned that I was taking the hot air balloon back and forth to ponyville, she had declared that she would teach me everything there is to know about flying, however, I was unable to accept her as a teacher, even if she is a wonderbolt reserve. The very thought of rainbow teaching me how to fly brings back many old memories of her crashing into the library, often times producing messes that I still feel bad for forcing spike to clean up. To be honest, I am surprised over the couple years I've known rainbow dash was only hospitalized that one time from crashing. And while on the subject of flying I was hoping to reserve that honor to my favorite Mentor and Sister if you don't mind that is. But I'm getting off topic, the point is ponyville had changed, its not really as cheery as it once used to be, and in all honesty I long for my Canterlot days in my tower suite in the castle, if you would have me that is, I've missed all of our talks of magic and my lessons over tea in the castle gardens. Regardless whether it at the castle or Sparkle Manner. I can confirm that my ponyville days are over and will be moving back to my home City in a couple of weeks Perhaps you have noticed in this letter, I've been dancing around the Elephant in the metaphorical room. The Moon... It is true I do not have any of my old memories back, and I wish I can forgive our Sister, but I can not, not yet at least. Even if I can't remember the horrible things she had done to me outside of the legends, After my ascension and reclaiming that which was stolen from me, every fiber of my being wanted to hate her. I cannot even say her name let alone call her sister without my anger for what she had done to me and my stars to overcome me. Before any of this happened she had been one of my closest friends, I even considered her a like a sister to me, as much as I had considered you as a second mother. I hope soon I may vanquish this instinctual fear and anger I have over The Moon, and I hope to one day call her sister as well. After all, I am the goddess of the stars and in extent, I am all of the world's magic, I've been through a lot for a pony in her 20's and seen many things no mortal could ever dream to see within my final exam, and adventure you had set me on to recover what I've lost. If I could go through all that, how hard could forgiveness possibly be? I hope to see you again Celestia With love, your sister, and student... Princess Twilight Sparkle Twilight Daughter of Nightlight noble of Canterlot is given a royal HouseAuthor's Note ending scene of the Finale of the Legend of the Sun moon and stars Twilight Daughter of Nightlight noble of Canterlot is given a royal House The end of the day solar Court, Canterlot Castle ~✹~ Celestia's attention was pulled away from the daily petitions that had been submitted for tomorrows court rulings, by a commotion that could be heard from the other side of the Throne room doors, while the Guards at the doors and in front of the throne stood in position, Celestia could tell by the Guards tightening grasp on their spears that they could hear it too. 'THUD... BANG' With a blast of gold magic, the large doors flew open, allowing a light blue unicorn with a Dark blue mane to storm into the room. holding a scroll in his golden aura while the Unicorn held is horn at goring point while glaring at the princess as if he was attempting to assassinate her with his eyes alone, as he made his way into the chamber. he either did not mind or care to acknowledge the two guards chasing after him from the hall. The guards on either side of the throne immediately lowered their spears, jumping in between the unicorn and the princess, "HALT! GET ON THE GROUND, YOU'RE UNDER ARREST." the guard on the right yelled, however, the guard's demand fell on deaf ears as the unicorn made his way to the center of the room then stopped into a harsh bow. Before snapping up to glare at the princess once more. "WHAT IN TARTARUS IS THIS!" he yelled, violently throwing the scroll onto the ground, before the guard that was chasing him finally caught up, and grabbed onto his shoulders before forcibly pulling him back towards the door, a motion he ignored as he continued to glare at the solar Princess Releasing a breath with an unreadable mask on Celestia raised her hoof "stand down, for the moment." she ordered causing the guards to release the intruding unicorn, for now. "Now, Lord Night light Patriarch of House Armor. To what do I owe this visit?" "YOU KNOW DAMN WELL WHY IM HERE!", he scoffed, "it wasn't enough that I allowed my eldest to start Courting your Niece, now you are stealing my youngest from the house!" he yelled stamping his hooves against the tiles of the throne room. "Are you actively trying to destroy house armor?!" the guards backed away from the unicorn in fear as the Solar Alicorn stood up, her icy gaze fell upon Night Light and by doing so making the room feel as if it cooled by ten degrees, taking a single step towards him Celestia Flaired her wings. "silence your treacherous tongue, our patients with your current attitude is wearing thin, you should consider yourself lucky that you are not in the dungeons as of yet, do not test our patience, for we have none left." she spoke coldly yet with a leveled tone All anger seem to drain from the unicorn, as fear set in he lowered his head, "O-of course your royal Highness please forgive me, but I can't help but worry about my house's future, you left us without an heir to the house, without one I fear that one of the branch families will take power within the generation. I-I fear for the future of sire's hollow and what it would become under their leadership". he bowed his head and looked up at her pleadingly, "please your highness, reconsider the creation of the 'House of Twilight' " Celestia closed her wings and sighed while sitting once more, "you know for sure that, what I do is and will always be done for the Prosperity of all, you from the house of lords would know best that all of the noble houses have been trying to claim the ponyville region for generations, at least it seems so do to the petitions from the house of lords that keep filling my trash bins. I have many reasons why I have not allowed any noble house to claim that land and many houses have resorted to many criminal acts against to try to claim it, which is something I can no longer overlook, the land will be given to someone, and the house the receives the land will become too powerful in the eyes of the other houses. so to maintain peace among the houses this is what I am doing." Night Light had begun pacing back in fourth, and it was clear by the expression on his face that if he feared not the consequences he would speak out. then his expression changed, the unicorn appeared to age in front of her looking down Night Light finally spoke up "I see... if that is your choice of how to solve the situation to maintain peace, then I must take drastic actions to ensure the safety of sire's hollow if you go through with this then Shining Armor must become the heir of House Armor." Celestia Frowned, "truly you would force Shining Armor to Breakup with Princess Cadenza?" "Perhaps, it all depends on her, thankfully the Pegacorn is only your adopted Niece and not of royal blood, either she gives up her title and steps down from being heir to the throne, or they will be separated" 'Interesting move', Celestia thought, 'he's clearly desperate by the way he broke protocol and stormed in here, there is no telling what he would do if I forbid him from coming in between them', Celestia looked down and sighed, "I'm sorry dear niece, but this is a necessary step for my sister to join my dear luna and me on the throne one day", she whispered to her self before speaking up once more, "if that is your decision then I will not step in your way". Night Lights eyes widened in shock, clearly, he was not expecting that. "have a good evening your Royal Highness", he sneered before storming past the guards and out of the throne room, with the two royal guards following him shortly after. 'well that ended better than expected', she thought to her self before standing up once more. Taking a deep breath Celestia shouted in the royal Canterlot voice to the ponies in the main hall, who were waiting to be called next, "OPEN COURT IS NOW OVER, PLEASE LEAVE AND RETURN IN THE MORROW'S OPEN COURT!" with that said, and a flash of her horn she found her self in her bedchambers once more. Twilight tries to connect to her celestial DomainAuthor's Note these 2 scenes I had Cut from the Nightmare Within, mainly because I had a better idea of cutting the Nightmare within into 2 different stories and this no longer made any sense in what I have written so far. i have an idea for these later Twilight tries to connect to her celestial Domain From the beginning of time, Celestial Objects have Been Os****ated With Alicorns, it had always been their nature to Bestow Har**ony to the ponies by enforcing nature to bring forth the day and night, and move their Celestial objects into and through the sky, as much as the sun Bestows warmth to the world, the moon moves the tides that bring forth water. Many believe that we have complete control of the sky in our aco****atd time of day, this, however, is not the truth of the matter. But what is true about Alicorns is considered Taboo, to speak of or in this case write down, for the information in the wrong ears could cause harm, but I can say that an alicorn tied to one Celestial object cannot manipulate another. However I have discovered that a Celestial Object can be Concealed by the magic of another. It only works if both light up the sky at once, this phenomenon is known as an eclipse. The magical effect on the associated alicorns is a study of which I had not had the time to exper***nent as of yet. As to conceal the stars each day and unveil them at night it is more complicated. ~Luna Selene Everfree of the Lunar Court Twilight ears fell once she got to the next page of her mother's journal, she had been learning to read for the past 2 years since she was two, and she had been practicing magic Ever since, but this... "THIS IS LIKE A WHOLE DIFFERENT LANGUAGE", She cried, throwing the journal Back on to her mother's Desk. The Book hit the desk with a loud THUMP, Twilight cringed At the noise, before glancing back at the door. She pleaded for it to not fly open, it really wouldn't be the first time her mother, or even the guards had to drag her out of the room by the nape of her neck like a newborn foal, but the embarrassment was always worth coming back and trying again, after all this is where all of the good books are kept, even if she could barely make out a lot of the bigger words. Letting out a sigh, she turned back to the Journal and lit her horn, her attempt to pick it up fizzled out with only a couple sparks to prove of her still lacking skill in magic. "Aw, Come on!" she begged, putting more power into her spell. Soon enough the book lifted, yet wobbly she decided that it was good enough, she had read all about spell efficient what-cha-ma-call-it. And she inwardly groaned at the amount of Wasted magic, but not for long. There were Important Things to be done, like Discovering her Celestial Domain Making her way to the door, she placed her fore-hooves on it and pulled it open just a crack, off-balanced she fell back onto her rump. "Oof", she winced, scrambling back to her hooves. She peered up and down the halls, upon not noticing anypony she trotted down the left hall towards the Main stairwell that out of the Families private Wing, Along the way she couldn't stop herself from thinking about how she was going to rub the fact she could control the stars into that stupid-head noble, Sapphire Dawn's face. Honestly, why would she even care that she was the only pony in the kingdom to get their soul mark before their late Adult life, let alone the first foal. Being able to move celestial objects is Waaaaaaay cooler. And from what her Antie Celestia had told her, when an alicorn connects to their domain they will become truly powerful. With that very Thought, Twilight could not help but imagine her entire class surrounding her, all examining her ethereal mane, filled with Nebulas, and the stars of the night sky, she could even imagine all of the Noble foals turn green with envy. In fact, just that thought had her prancing around the corner, and straight into a pair of gold-clad Fore-Hooves, then, with a thump, all she could feel is a pain. Groaning She Rubbed the top of her head, before opening her eyes to the Offending object, which just so happened to be her mothers Journal, only then did her pain turned to annoyance when she realized she lost focus on her spell. Reaching out with her hooves, She had a Sense of Dread as the Book was enveloped in a golden aura. "N-no," she choked out, trying her best to knock it out of the air, "Antie, you'll ruin everything" A soft chuckle was her only response before a wall of white feathers swept over her and picked her up. They might as well have been White Feathery Prison Bars, Her Sentence? Having too much fun. Looking up at Celestia Twilight Notice that she was standing between her and the stairwell, looking behind her she cursed her luck, for her usual body Guards had her Six, whatever that means, two white Stallions, she had asked before why all the guards in armor looked the same, but only got the 'magic' Response, her own theory is that they are all clones... Right focus, escape first! She thought to herself. "And what do we have here?", Celestia asked with a mischievous smile, looking between the book and the filly wrapped up in her Right-wing. "I can't tell you, its a Surprise," Twilight asked Reaching for the book "now give it back." Celestia furrowed a brow at that, "a Surprise?" "YES, now give it back, PLEEEEEASE!" Twilight Begged Reaching for the book "Hmm, is it a Surprise luna and I would approve of? Or are you out looking for trouble again" Giving up Twilight Fell limp, "both", she sighed, waiting for what comes next. Celestia just stared at her for a moment before closing her eyes, clearly coming to a decision. "I'll tell you what..." she stomped her right hoof on the stone floor, her Guards Jumped to attention and immediately stepped up beside her, "Guards Take Princess Twilight and her book to... Erm, where ever she wants to go within the castle grounds, then alert 2nd lieutenant Noctis to send a couple of his Night Watch to keep her out of trouble. You are dismissed once they arrive," she said, Levitating the filly onto the guards back while watching the fillies eyes grow Larger. Saluting, the Two Guards made there way down the Stairs, a Squealing and Cheering Twilight on the right Guards Back. "Thank you, auntie," was the last thing she heard of her Niece before they disappeared down the Stairs. Scene Name(Twilight Astrea Everfree of the Lunar Court) ~ ✶ ~ She was Meditating, at-least that's what the book said she was doing, for her, she was just sitting there with her eye closed, and how this is needed to connect to the stars she had no idea, but the book told her to do it so she was... Just sitting there, at least with the best of her ability, the grass kept tickling her hooves, and she was trying really hard to not squirm. The Book said she must sit still, so she must, she kept telling herself that until she finally stopped squirming, then a rogue breeze would come out of nowhere and cause an ear to flick. Letting out a grunt, before Plopping into the grass. "This isn't working" she mumbled. Twilight opened her eyes, it was just past sunset, and the stars were becoming visible. According to her mother's journal, it was because of the solar magic that floods the sky during the day was weakening, allowing the stars to be seen. at this point, she was beginning to think that the stars don't count as Celestial Objects, but her mother says otherwise. She would say like how the sun brings warmth to Equus, and the moon controls the tides, the stars are the source of all magic, and that there lights flood Equus with magic for the ponies to use. That then piqued Twilight's interest, So she may have snuck into her mother's Study to learn more about the stars. Apparently, Her mother did not want twilight to learn that without anypony to guide the stars as she and her ant does with the sun and moon, then one day there will be no magic left on Equus, and now to twilight's displeasure, she is no longer allowed in that room. But it will all be fine, because twilight will learn how to put to rest the stars during the day and everything will be just fine glancing to her company, a grey pony doll sitting perfectly still next to her that she had grabbed along with a couple of books on the way out here. to anypony else, it would have been an adorable sight, but to twilight, it made her more annoyed. "daw come on Smarty Pants, just give me one simple tip", the doll peeked open a button eye, tilting his head slightly, "with what?" "With meditating" she exclaimed. Chapter 1 Nightmare Within Rewrite ~ ✶ ~ In the Chamber of Princess Luna, The Princess of the night slept. The once Roaring fireplace had been reduced to cinders, it was not unusual at this time of Hour. the room's king-size bed built for two now laid one. It was a couple of hours ago when the Prince arose to govern the few Diurnal ponies in Dream Vally, at least that's what he would normally be doing, but today was special, for both Sombra, prince of the Crystal Empire and Luna, Princess of Equestria. The Doors into the chamber were slowly pushed open by a lavender filly, its hinges squealed with every inch it was pushed open, she winced at the noise and stopped, leaving a crack just enough to peer into the room, she did not want to Stir the slumbering princess, at least not yet. The sound of shuffling hooves drew her attention to the two thestral guards on either side of the doors, they were trying there best to look forward and still like a statue, as they're trained to be. but their eyes kept trailing to her, and with them biting their lips it was clear they were holding back from either snickering or cooing at her antics, she did not currently care which. "it's not funny," she huffed while leaning on the door. then the door fell open. letting out a Squeak, she fell through the doorway and into the room, Falling head over hooves she landed flat on her back. "Oof," she groaned, "think I just landed on my wing". A shuffling of covers came from the bed followed by murmurs, something about Sombra being late for gate duty... "Mummy?" the filly whispered, not sure if she was trying to be heard or not. Stretching her wing to try and stop the coming wing ache, she slowly approached the bed. Hopping up the filly loomed over the midnight blue alicorn, then flopped onto her stomach. Now what many do not know about luna the night alicorn of the moon and Shepard of dreams, is that she does not like to be awakened, this is a fact that all the staff members keep reminding her but she did not know why. Some guards claim that the princess does not wish to be disturbed whenever she tried to enter on most nights, which would lead to her Question 'why can't I?' only for the guard to give her a stern look as if she had broken another stain-glass window until she Sulked off. But thankfully those guards are not here, and mummy needs to wake up. Lifting a hoof the lavender filly whispered "mummy?" before jabbing her hoof into the sleeping mare's Cheek. She watched as the alicorn scrunched up her nose, before shoving the assaulted cheek deeper into the pillow. "Mooom!" She rolled her eyes and with two more strikes to the other cheek, the sleeping princess grabbed the filly and pulled her into an embrace as if she was a teddy bear. "GAAH!", she cried in panic but it was already too late. "Twilight, five. Five more... Hours" she finally said. "Fine, if you won't get out of bed then I'll just..." her attempt to pick up the larger mare's foreleg fizzled out with only a couple sparks, an irritating reminder of her lacking magic skills. "Aw, Come on!" she begged, putting more power into her spell. lifting the foreleg over her head, her magic felt wobbly but she decided that it was good enough, she had read all about spell efficient what-cha-ma-call-it. And she inwardly groaned at the amount of Wasted magic, but not for long. There were Important Things to be done, like getting her lazy mother out of bed marching to the bedside dragging the limb behind her, she could tell by the added weight that the lunar alicorn had grab hold of her Quilts. Hopping off the bed she let go of her magic and allowed a smile of Triumph grow across her face, at least until she turned around. Her mouth agape, the princess just laid there hanging off the side of the bed hugging a pillow to her upside-down face, she could tell the princess of sleep won't be dragged out of her realm so easily. Twilight's eye Twitched, then she smiled. It was time for plan B, Standing up tall, or at least as tall as an 11-year-old can, she spread her wings, and what she called a mighty flap she became air-born. If anypony else was in the room she was certain that they would say it was graceful, and that she definitely did not almost knock over a Bookshelf... Again. "MUMMY!!!" rang her battle Cry, as she dive-bombed the bed's only occupant. ~ ☽ ~ "GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Luna Screamed, One moment she was at the pub with Sombra and 18 court jesters, who were complaining to her about some entertainment tax. The next moment she was flailing around with a purple, no lavender, definitely lavender blob on her chest, and it hurt. She had no time wonder why her blob hurt before she felt the pain of hitting the floor, then darkness... Fluffy warm darkness "Yuug" she groaned, before sitting up, causing the just recently noticed weight to fall off her chest along with her blanket Luna just glanced around her room bleary-eyed, waiting for her mind to fully awaken and so she may investi... 'BLAM!' And there goes the door, was her first thought of the day as 2 Lunar Guards stormed into the room with their wing blades drawn "Your majesty are you alright? We heard you scream." one asked concerned while the other looked around the room with a quickened pace. Silence, she just sat there for a moment, her mind on rewind, as she tried to figure out just when did the night go so wrong... Er morning. Her mental rewind was interrupted by the shuffling coming from within the pile of blankets between her forehooves, then popped out a lavender fillies head, the fillies ear flicked before finally looking up at her, then she smiled. Luna sighed, "Guards, false alarm please return to your stations". Standing up they turned to her and bowed. "Yes, your majesty," they said before walking out closing the door behind them. Turning her attention down to the filly, she scooped her up in her wing and nuzzled her cheek. "Twilight, how many times do I have to tell you not to do that," she asked while holding back a yawn "Now, why are you up so late? The sun is out." Giggling, twilight pushed away her muzzle, "but mom, dad told me to, he's in the royal dining hall. he is having pancakes made." twilight said jumping out of her mother's embrace and onto the now vacant bed before bouncing on it. "Now hurry hurry hurry, shining is gonna eat them all!". luna blinked, "the royal dining hall, is something going on?" twilight nodded, "a promotion, I think." "Hmm, well we better not keep them waiting," Getting up, luna levitated open her drawer and retrieved a brush, her hoof-held mirror, and the symbol of office; her crown. It was ten in the morning and unlike normal ponies, she did not need a sundial or hourglass to tell, It was just another benefit of being one of the two ponies who can raise and lower the celestial bodies. However, a normal pony also did not need such tools to tell that neither luna nor the young alicorn who was currently bouncing on her bed was up at an abnormal time. As co-ruler of Equestria, and Alicorn of the Night, she governs over the ponies of dream-valley the crown jewel of the kingdom's nocturnal citizens, and the surrounding towns within the Everfree forest. When her sister rests the kingdom is hers, and when luna rests the kingdom is her sisters. So as she brushed her hair, her gaze never once left her crown with only occasional glances toward the mirror. she could not tell anypony off the top of her head how many years she had ruled alongside her sister, and while the capitals and courts were divided in two, the kingdom thrived under their complete rule. Every Dusk she would stare into the crown in this same position, she found it funny how much power is held within a small Circlet, even without enchantments. it may have only been only the angle of the mirror and where twilight was bouncing, but when she glanced over to the mirror, she could not help but smile at the image that greeted her, twilight her daughter wearing her crown. "Are you excited about your trip to Canterlot? school will be starting tomorrow you know." It was like all of the joy and happiness slipped from the filly as she slumped down onto the bed, leaving nothing but Trepidation and fear, something she noticed. "Is everything alright Twilight?" she asked looking back at her. "I, I don't wanna go" she whimpered, luna sighed, with her magic she pulled the little alicorn into a winged embrace. "Are you not excited to go to school? Think of all the books you'll read, there are bigger libraries in Canterlot." "Can't I just continue going to school here?" twilight asked popping her head out of her Plumage "I'm sorry My little Star, but this is a special Private school your aunt made to allows the common pony to join. You need to meet your future Subjects, not surround yourself with noble foals." "But you're not going to be there..." Luna's wing tightened in response, 'i see' she mouthed to herself before offering her a comforting smile. "I'm not going anywhere, Canterlot isn't that far away, think of it like this you will be spending time with your aunt for four days then three days at home." "I guess..." twilight said curtly. "Don't worry I'm sure the days will fly by faster then you think, your going to a school for magic after all" And just like that the filly Jumped to the ground and looked up at her, "Really?" she asked with more excitement. Luna nodded. "Yes yes yes!" she cried prancing around the older mare, "I'm going to learn magic then ill finally earn my soul-mark then I can finally connect to my celestial domain and my hair will be all wavy like yours and I'll be powerful like you and rase the moon on my own and~" "Twilight Twilight Twilight, Calm down. ok First off, I would not worry about getting your soul mark, you have your entire life to discover your special talent. there is a reason why only your aunt and I have ponies in the family to have one, most ponies don't even discover their talent until their later years, even then most of the ponies who do discover their special talents won't live long enough to understand it and get a soul mark," Luna said brushing her wing across the fillies back "I know you and shining star will earn one eventually but don't spend your life chasing one, as most ponies do", "and for your celestial domain... well, I suppose going to your aunt's school will help. but like your soul mark you'll contact it soon enough." using her magic Luna finally place her crown on her head and levitated the filly onto her back, "just learn all you can and make some friends okay?" she said while walking out into the hall. Twilight happily nodded Making a right, luna walking down the stairs with a hyper filly on her back, and flanked by two guards. she made it down to the public halls of the castle. Rounding the main hall next to the throne room, the servants, guests, and petitioners both common and noble alike moved out of her way to prostrate themselves before their ruler. while Guards stood at attention and saluted their Supreme commander and chief. all of which was lost to luna, she was deep in thought and paid her bowing subjects no-mind. she may have seemed Confident in her decision of sending twilight to learn outside of the Everfree forest, but in truth, the decision still worried her to this very moment, and the moments leading to her approach of the royal dining halls. pushing the door open with a forehoof she nearly missed the weight on her back lighten, the lavender blur running pasted her and into the room was more noticeable. Author's Note So I've finally added it here... Oh, how the Nightmare Within story has fallen. ive mainly given up due to my annoyance. I'm not a writer, and it seemed trying to write this story had stopped being fun due my perfectionist nature not liking how the story feels compared to the Awsome works that are already on this site. i have another idea for a story. Chapter 2 Nightmare Within RewriteChapter 2 Nightmare Within Rewrite ~ ✶ ~ The Door into the Royal dining hall opened. Within revealed a feast fit for royalty, a table filled with piles of Pastries, and apples, and grains, all of the Highest of Quality. The warm musk hit the filly like an unforgiving wall. It wasn't until recently she was old enough to eat in the royal dining halls during royal events, but the delicious food sure in Tartarus have been brightening up twilight's evenings since. The room was huge with a large oak table in the center, and a huge fireplace to the side, along the walls. Tapestries of the royal couple who lived in the castle and past heroes of the land hung from the walls, each pretending to be stainglass windows. Looking towards the head of the table her father sat, prince Sombra of the crystal empire, a grey unicorn with a black mane with dark blue streaks through it, he was wearing his usual silver crown and torc, with his favorite royal purple cloak draped over his withers. and always on his left was her older brother sat, Prince Shining Star, a white alicorn stallion with a blue mane and tail, who was currently talking among the tables other occupants, generals, nobles, the usual for these types of events. Getting off luna's back, twilight ran into the room without a second thought, "shining, you're finally up!" she yelled, running up to the other alicorn. She pulled up the chair and sat next to him. "Morning daddy!" The grey unicorn looked up at her then smiled, "Good morning my star," glancing over towards the main doors. He sighed, "manners, deer. Please don't shout or run in the hall, we have important guests over," he told her as if out of habit. Taking her a second to process his words she looked up at the tables other occupants, most of which looked scandalized by her 'improper decorum'. "S-sorry," she practically whispered in embarrassment. The food was always the best in the royal dining hall, but there are its downsides. the royal dining halls were only used during formal events, meaning she had to act and appear proper, a perfect royal image of the Everfree Family. With her older brother being the heir to the equestrian throne and her being the heir of the Crystal Empire's throne, the nobles and common ponies expected her to act a certain way in public. Twilight finally looked down to see a magenta aura unceremoniously drop five pancakes onto her plate, shining chuckled "well what else can you expect from a foal, especially on a big day like this one." "Well such energy would be better put to use while packing, not in the dining halls," Sombra said. "I've already done that last night!" He arched his eyebrow at that, "Really?" she nodded, "your soaps and toothbrush?" she nodded again. "how about Your dress clothes and ceremonial regalia?" she paused at that. "Why would I need them?" she asked. "Because your aunt loves to throw balls for the upper class of Canterlot, and she would most likely expect you to join in," Luna said, finally making it to her seat next to Sombra. twilight inwardly sighed then nodded, "yes mother, ill pack after dinner." Sombra smiled then looked up to one of the Generals or what she thought to be a general due to all of the metals he had on his uniform, he was a Dark Grey Umbrum Unicorn with a silver Mane and tail, and Purple slitted eyes, "now that we are all here, General Onyx I give you the honor" nodding the nocturnal Unicorn and the 2 nearby Thestrials, one with brown coated Captain and a one with a Black coat wearing no badges. they stood up and soluted the royal family, "your Royal majesties Prince Sombra Amore, princess Luna Selene Everfree, and your royal Highnesses Prince Shining Star Everfree, and Princess Twilight Asteria Everfree of the Lunar Courts" he Greeted with a bow of the head followed by the other 2 guards, "today I had asked for an audience, for you to bear witness and introduce you to a new officer of the Night watch" the three of them took a couple of steps back from the table before unicorn motioned to the Black Thestrial "this is Corporal Noctis of the platoon 12 of the 32ed Legion under the Direct Command of Captain sunder wind" Noctis bowed, "greetings your majesties. Two weeks ago, My Squadron had been sent out on a mission to the northern town of neighston in the territory of the Noble house of Dawn, to deal with rising tensions between the local lords and their townsfolk, that came to be with their conflict with The house of Aurora ." "Ah yes," Luna said perking up slightly, "our dearest sister was dealing with that situation, it's truly a shame that the House of Dawn and the house of Aurora are fighting, tell us how was your mission on maintaining order?" Noctis paused for a moment, "The situation did escalate and caused civil unrest amongst the populace, however, our troops are currently working on maintaining order as we speak." luna nodded "I would need to consult my sister, she is the one handling the disputes between the two houses." General onyx cleared his throat before continuing, "when my Platoons were half a day from the town of neighston, they had set up camp for the day, and planned to arrive around midnight. due to the mission's objectives, our troops were not expecting many issues on the road and our lookouts were lightly armed. however, apparently, the locals were under the impression that our soldier was there to force the town to submit, because of this there was an ambush and the platoon leader was wounded." Luna nodded at him to continue, this was not news to her, she had received the incident report yesterday, about 12 hours after it was handled. "Corporal Noctis here showed leadership, and quick thinking, when the Platoon leader was wounded and unable to lead the defensive, he rallied his fellow soldiers behind him and repelled the attack. after the rebels retreated he had led the counter-attack that ended in the capture of the remaining fighters around 58 unicorns, 23 earth ponies, and 5 pegasi." onyx gave the thestral a nod of appreciation, causing him to smile. "after his display, he had shown himself to be worthy of the position of an officer within the 32nd legion. with your blessing, Prince Sombra and Princess Luna he will become the Nightwatch's newest Lieutenant." Prince Sombra stood up and walked over to them causing Noctis to stiffen Slightly. he circled the candidate for a closer look, causing the captain and general to give him a wider berth. "hmm... well I can see you have the potential, given the right training" he stopped in front of him, and smiled like a foal with a new toy, "I definitely approve." he said before almost prancing back to his seat "sit and eat," he said appearing to luna to be blissfully unaware of the other tables occupants dumbfounded expressions and the annoyance on their daughters face "and Noctis, please stay and talk after everypony has left" once he sat down luna whispered over to him, "ok, what was that?" he glanced up at her "I just came up with a brilliant idea, to fix our problem" "you mean between the houses of Dawn and Aurora?" she asked shocked that he actually started caring about Equestrian Politics, it's not like he did not care about the political system of Equestria, more like he kept his attention more on helping local ponies with problems, or the crystal empire. "oh, no!" he exclaimed, "I meant the problem that actually matters! our Daughter" Chapter 3 Nightmare Within RewriteChapter 3 Nightmare Within Rewrite ~ ✶ ~ Once the light focused in her eyes she saw the most beautiful and rarest sight for somepony who never left the forest, the rolling grass hills of the gardens looked as if they stretched for miles, she knew logically that she knew she was exaggerating. Then again she did not care, and with the gentle breezing blowing through the grass forcing each blade to move as if it was a wave, and the not quite dried up dew the midnight mist that sparkled in the sunlight distracted her, and there was only one thing her body told her to do. She stepped out into the grass, she ran. And she frolicked over the hills and through the long strands of grass, something primal took over and as her mane and withers to the breeze, she ran with it. She felt as if she had become one with nature. She did not hear her mother calling her name, nor did she remember how long she had been running through the grassy gardens. She was playing tag with the wind, and while too caught up in the game the small changes in the garden remained unnoticed. It started small the neatly kept long grass became shorter, with ragged cuts to the tips, the castle was were then replace with rocky mountains hills and the occasional tree started popping up more frequently. She was getting closer to the mountainside, soon enough she no longer on castle grounds, and while grass turned to dirt hills turned into groves of large trees and Rocky cliff faces Eventually, the feelings that enchanted her set aside when something appeared in one of her sides glances, she did not see it long, but long enough for her curiosity to be peaked. Making it over the last hill at a canter she stopped at the top and looked down at it. It appeared to be some sort of hedge wall, but It looked very unkempt. The branches looked as if nature was fighting some sort of growing plague, with branches being dead colors of yellow and grey, while other nearby branches were vibrant green and full of life. The hedges were lined with a cobblestone wall that surrounded it, with a stone archway which split the Hedges, both of which looked to be under the assault by vines and roots that have taken grip to them. On a closer look, the archway had hundreds of strange symbols carved into them and the top of the arch was carved into a strange mix between a Goat and a dragon's head. She felt uneasy about the path that led through the archway, it was as if she was being watched, judged. And the breeze that she was just recently playing with cried out in a ghastly moan as it trailed between the hedge walls. Then she heard something, or was it somepony, it sounded like a whisper. Or was it just her imagination. She could walk away, that is what a smart pony would do, she was a smart pony, her mommy told her so, she said that I 'can read books other ponies my age could not even dream to understand'... Whatever that means. But if she was so smart, why was she entering the archway? She did not know I guess curiosity killed the cat. Making it through the hedge wall, she looks around, to her, it appeared to be a labyrinth like the one she had back home, but something felt off about it, though she could not quite put a hoof on it. Continuing straight she came to what looked as if it was a guardian, while the plants within were varying, dead or alive what drew her attention in the middle of the garden. There were seven Statues surrounding an old cracked plague. Each one with a single word edged into them To her the stature varied from funny looking to disturbing, to the last to in which she was sure were going to be in her nightmares in the coming nights but what was common among them were how they looked to be a harsh mutation between a Dragon, and other living animals that vary with no order, or cemetery The first lin the line up seemed to be a mix of a dragon, with a goat head, and legs of a lion, a bird, a horses hoof and a dragon leg, and miss-matched wings and horns, at the bottom the words edged into it was Pride. Glancing at the other statues they were labeled Envy, Wrath, Sloth, Greed, Gluttony, and Lust. Only then did she read the plaque The storms of an Ancient age has passed. This monument morn the loss of magics long forgotten and useless, but now lay avenged by the Gods who now walk among us. May those who have been lost along the way find the peace of death someday. And with the end of that age of chaos, now stand these fragments at the heart of Equus. For as long as they are present, may the worst of pony-kind lay buried in the past. "What, what is this?" she asked herself, trying to make sense of what she was reading. She knew from back home that Statue Gardens are common for rich ponies, her mother even took her to see the palaces Statue garden, though her rule that she was not allowed to go there without a guard or her self to watch over her. When asked why, her mother would mumble something about controlling Caladral Damage. Perhaps that's why she feel very uncomfortable right~ Her ear twitched to the first statue, the whispering was back, it was louder, but none of her attempts to quiet down and listen. Made it intelligible, then it stopped once more. A chill ran her back, her ears laid back and she retreated a few steps "I~is Aanypony there?" she hesitantly asked. Silence filled the forest, deafening silence, almost unnatural "TWILIGHT WHERE ARE YOU!?" she heard her name coming from back beyond the archway. It was her mommy. Turning around she trotted back the way she came, she could not, however, stop her self from glancing back. Nightmare Within Rewrite A lesson of court and EducateShe was sitting on the throne her father circled her as if he was a shark looking for any sign of weakness to attack, and in a way, he was doing just that but instead of teeth, there were corrections, the humiliation of not being perfect instead of pain. Sombra approached her still towering over her with a criticizing glare. Lighting his horn with a blue Aura, twilight felt her back straighten and muzzle go up to a 65-degree angle, it turned her in the throne so that she was directly facing the throne room doors at a 90-degree angle to the seat. Once his warm aura vanishes, Sombra smiled, a smile of someone who had come out of a duel victorious with a prize She inwardly Groaned "dad, we have been doing this for an hour now, who cares if I'm just a millimeter off-centered in the throne." He sighed before stepping back. "Princess Twilight Asteria Everfree of the Lunar Court, I am sorry to correct you" he started with a half bow, showing that they are equals "but when representing the royal family if something is off about you the nobles will notice, in Equestria the nobles will see anything imperfect as a weakness to exploit it." Twilight Slumped and groaned at his attempt of role-play. "Really dad? Please, I'm being serious." His gaze turned serious in response, "twilight, you are now heir to Equestria." he state climbing up the Dais. "I admit your grandma, Amore, believed that the best way to learn was for radiant hope and me to learn through trial and error. He shuttered at that, one of the first things I've learned was everypony you meet of the noble, common and some of the ruling class they don't see you as a pony. But a well of political power to drink from and abuse for there own goals, oftentimes at your expense. "Dad I don't think everypony is like that, I've actually met some friends at the school, and they dont seem to care too much about politics" He smiled at her, "that's great, I'm happy for you, friends wherever you can find them, will always be a boon to you in the darkest of times. But you must also know who is your friend, how can you tell them apart?" "W-Well they seem nice" "Have you told them who you really are?" he raised a brow in expectance "No..." she sighed "Then you can't be sure, and when you're ready to reveal the truth to them , you need to know how to tell if they are truly your friends" "What, do you really think that they would turn on me for being a princess?" she exclaimed, Appuld that he would think of such a thing of other ponies "Ponies can be Greedy twilight, and greed fogs the mind of the pony so they cannot see what is truly important, in a friend learning something that important about you can change everything. If it does change things and they see you as the nobles see us, they will seek your weaknesses and they will swarm you, and devour you like a murder of crows on a fresh corpse!" Twilight grimaced at that mental image before banishing it from her mind. She opened her mouth to continue the argument only to find a hoof covering it. "No more, about that my star its time for our next lesson," Sombra said covering her in his magic and dragging her along as he cantered out of the throne room. "I'm Famished, so, its time for our next lesson On how to properly drink tea what forks to use" Twilight groaned... "The Day is finally over" she groaned taking off her crown and placing it on her nightstand, she then proceeded to throw herself onto the bed with a loud thump, "Oof". Closing her eyes she went over the day, it was more when it came to her Training then other days, think back on it she was certain that her father was acting a bit off but she could not tell why 'Thankfully it was all finally over' she thought then a knock came from the door. She let out a sigh, "Enter". Her door opened a Sombra walked in, "good there you are I've been looking for you. Its time for our next lesson" Twilight shot up and looked at him wide-eyed "what! But I... no Dad I'm tired please, I want to sleep" she half wined "oh well that's perfect this lesson involves sleeping," he said poofing in a pea pod into his magic Aura "all you got to is sleep he said levitating a pea out of the pod." it took her a moment to understand what was happening, then her eye twitched in annoyance "really dad? I know for a fact you got that from an old filly's tale. the book is right there!" she said pointing at her bookshelf "Why would I even need to learn how to sleep with a pea under my mattress?" "well, i umm" he stammered, clearly coming up with something "well, perhaps a noble will try to keep you up all night so you would be too tired in court so he could slip something past you." twilight just stare at him. "Yeah, yeah I knew it was a longshot from the beginning," he said teleporting the peas away "so then, what up with today lessons, you kind of went a bit crazy with the singing with birds part, then this... wait does this have to do with what shining said this morning" he took a step back, giving her a sheepish smile "I-I well, yes." his gaze fell to the floor "I suppose i just wanted a reason to be by my Daughters Side, besides almost all of those lessons were real and should be taken to heart while ruling" twilight rolled her eyes before she jumped off her bed and threw herself at him in a hug, "daddy, it's not going to be forever." she felt him stiffen, and it made her feel cold "you're coming back right?" Sombra Sighed "i plan to, some time. it just there is so much happening at the crystal empire, your brother is only taking over as regent until the investigation comes to an end." "what about Grandma Amore when will she take back the throne?" Sombra paused clearly picking his words carefully. "not anytime soon, because of her age. she feels it is best for her to rest and retire." twilight heart froze in fear, she was not dumb, yes some times even she admits she can be quite childish, but she was more perseptive then people gave her credit for. and by how shaky he had become mention it did not help her keep the coming dread away he sighed "I-i should not even be here, twilight right now the empire need its new 'king' but i wanted to see you one last time before my duties take over." "When are you and shining leaving?" "tonight." he answered "When will you come back home?" he hugged her tighter "i don't know, not anytime soon, there is too much needing to be done. I..." he shook his head, as it to clear his thoughts. then smiled, it was clearly forced "that just means you and mommy will have to come and visit!" Twilight nodded sombra picked her up with his magic and layed her in her bed tucking her in he kissed her forehead. "good morning twilight, my little star, sleep well" he said before leaving the room, closing the door behind him with a quiet click. The Silence quickly became Deafening, despite his words she knew for sure that she was not going to sleep tonight ~ ~ ~ ~ Author's Note this was a Chapter of The Nightmare within and was to lead into a side story called 'The Nightmare Within: Fall of an Empire' about Sombra and shining armor going to the Crystal Empire to rule, there was going to be a Threat that ended with the corruption of Sombra and the fall of amore Nightmare Within Rewrite ExamAuthor's Note this one might have been the roughest. this was the newest. anyways. Nightmare Within Rewrite Exam Twilights First day in canterlot ~ ✶ ~ twilight gets ready for the school, while her mother is preening her wings, she asks why she even needs to take the entrance exam since Celestia is her aunt, her mother tells her it would not be fair to anypony else, twilight tries to convinced luna that she is concerned that she would fail the test. But she is not convinced After prodding twilight finally tells her that she does not want to stay, away from her family, Luna tells her that she will be home sooner than she thinks, twilight is convinced it is too long, sighing luna gives her the present with a doll in it(smarty pants) who her father, brother, and her self made together so that she would have a bit of her family with her at all times. Luna then tells the now happy filly that if she passes the exam she will teach her a spell to turn the doll into a playmate now they better get going if they are going to be making their appointment with the examiners Before they leave Luna Casts an illusion spell on Twilight and herself, much to the curiosity of the little filly, luna explains that ponies really like to see princesses, confusing the foal "isn't that a good thing?" not when you're trying to get somewhere She tells her one of the more important things for her to do is make true friends, so as long as she is in school she will be under an illusion spell so that she may fit in better Twilight And luna make it out of the castle towards Celestia school, and unlike most times when walking around she notices that ponies don't even cast a glance at her, when she makes it to the back entrance to the castle, which was the school she sees that the 2nd - 8th years are hangout in the yard a lot of them are reading under a tree playing tag with friends but most were playing with there magic, the more upper classmate were playing Dodge with small bolts of magic and illusions, the sun was covered by something huge and when she looks up she sees an illusionary dragon, the illusion itself shimmering in the sunlight as it tries to keeps its self together she stops much to lunas dismay, soon enough she grabs Twilight by the nape of her necks and carries her inside, much to her embarrassment . ~ ✹ ~ After breakfast Celestia is disturbed from paperwork and her tea by a knock on her door, it's her head of staff, she wanted to remind her that court was in 5 minutes, she askes about a few of the Petitions information showing the paper while heading to the Throneroom. All ver awaiting visiter bow to her as she walks into the courtroom followed by the mob. Taking her seat at the throne she motions to her Harrold who announces hear ye hear ye the royal court of canterlot, domain of the day is now in session Celestia Helios Everfree of the Solar Court now presiding. The head of staff then announces the rules the telling them that ponies lined up without an appointment are to come forth when a ruling ends early or the one for the appointment is late/ not coming. The Harrold "now calling The court Noble Repisentitives under her Devine majesty Princess Celestia " then announces the Noble spokeponies name and title as the enter the room and sit on either side of the Courtroom. Once finished Celestia scans the room to get a good feel in the mood she will be in at the end of the day (i.e if she should brace herself for silly demands) First petitioner, Lord Crimson Dawn, Duke of Unicornia. He starts off trying to Flatter and giving her praise, he tells her of his problems with one of his private Gem companies that are responsible for his houses wealth, and how due to the recent falling out with the Aurora noble house, the labor for our company had been cut in half, he is asking for public for either financial support so the business stays open, and funs to be payed back in full, or the use of government laborers to take up the slack She askes the spokesponies of both dawn and Aurora for their sides of the story, and it turns out the whole mess could have been avoided and cause rising tension between the scenes of the house. Celestia would like to help, however, due to the falling out between the two noble houses could have been avoided and by funding such a thing she would be setting a president for giving aid to private businesses, whenever Disputes come along, Her ruling is makeup with Aurora and stops the problem from spiraling out of control, she then turns two the 2 spoke ponies and tells them that in order to stop anything from happening in the meantime between the 2 houses she will be suspending their access of the royal guard and be putting them in the hands of Commander Stone wall of the Solar Guard, until they come to an agreement(to prevent them from commanding an attack if they are provoked) They are annoyed by it but they hide it well behind an edged yet kind tone they try to protest but were cut off when the princess dismisses them, looking at the crowd she smiled before turning to face the Harrold before giving him a nod, the Harrold was about to call from the crowd sompony but the city is stuck from a shockwave of an explosion after a moment of stunned silence the guards jump into defensive positions, and pandemonium breaks lose, as the light through the stain glass windows Starts to darken slightly, perplexed at the feeling of magic in the air, she looks outside to see the daylight sky was filled with stars even when the suns position clearly indicating it being 9 in the noon, only then does Celestia realizes she felt the magic signature before it before. eye-widening after remembering twilights exam statrs today she yells "TWILIGHT!" and teleports away, leaving the court behind and forgotten. ~ ✶ ~ Five minutes earlier... Twilight makes it to the exams room, Her first test was to lift 3 large stones only using her magic and try to keep them up as long a possible The second test is to hatch a small elemental Familiar who will show what type of affinity your magic is and, whether it is any combination of Fire earth, water, or air. And will aid you in the school for gifted unicorns. Twilight did not know why but her mother seemed very nervous at this news. This egg is of a special Phenix that takes the elemental Properties of the Creature of in this case pony who hatched it. The third test(in which she will not get to.) where she would take a written test on the basics of magic theory Twilight makes it through the first test, and becomes neres when she sees that the examiners do not look impressed, this makes her nerves for the next test, hatching the egg. She was so nervous that she could not do it, looking at the Smile on her mothers face she tries harder glancing at the impassive examiners she felt even more nervous due to how she thought would blow her chance which means she would not get to learn that new spell or get into the school. just then she exploded outwards her magic striking the egg, causing it to grow, and due to the amount of magic that was used she lost control and exploded into chaotic celestial magic Clenching up into a ball she had become the fires of a star. the shadows from the ponies in the room became animate and started screaming as if they were being torchered, the walls in the room became covered in shadows and shadowing eyes opened to stare at the filly in the middle, hands grew from them and tried to grab at the filly who started to scream in fear. all while gravity was reversed across the school, and anyone within the room was put to sleep luna tried to get in to help twilight but was struck by wild magic that tried to rip her into pieces seeing the hands close in on twilight she tries to jump in and save her, but in mid-jump, through a burning wild magic Celestia teleported in front of her and threw her back before putting a shield around them crying out she is forced as the shadowy hands enclosed around the star, snuffing out the flair, and putting her to sleep. and right before her laid a baby a male shadow Pheonix with dancing stars flickering throughout his plumage. ~ ☽ ~ The examiners deem the filly to be too powerful and they are fearful of her, Professor arcane catalyst even uses the bird as evidence they believe that Twilight is an abomination, a walking disaster just waiting to cause death and destruction, he mistakes the Celestial magic as Dark Magic and is convinced that the filly is evil, that she is evil is not what the other examiners would go far to say but are willing to mark the filly up as a flair, and restrict her magic Perminately until it can be properly controlled angered by the evil remark Celestia Scolds him, for judging a foal who has almost no control over her magic, and tells them that Twilight will be her personal Student if she must Nightmare Within: the Lunar Rebellion EndingAuthor's Note this would have been just after the end of the Nightmare Within and after luna was banished i did not get close to finishing this chapter, basically, Shing armor fought his corrupted father and took over ruling over the ruins of the crystal Empire. which would have been the end of their story until the events of season 3 episode 1 and 2 this would have been the epilogue to the story Nightmare Within: the Lunar Rebellion Ending The land was frozen, and the BLizzard winds kept him and the remainder of his ponies struggling as they trailed up the frost covered hills. His name was shining star, alicorn of the dead, and the spirit world, the crowned Prince of Equestria. Or at least he was. The world turned their backs on him, and he had to forsake his title and home to save the innocent and weak. To all, he was a Traitor who lengthened his mother's Rebellion. He glanced back, his remaining forces, they were right behind him, constantly fighting to not be buried by the storm, 12 Thestrals, and 18 Umbrum Unicorns. They were all guards and soldiers. All the civilians that evacuated the capital died by the enemy ambush along the way. These ponies called him prince, they are loyal, and regardless of how many of there friends and loved ones died along the way, they still follow. Is he truly a prince, can he truly lead them to the promised land of safety. How could he lead when his own mind kept haunting him with the vision of the past. the moon above did not help ease his mind in the slightest, the twin unicorn marks edged upon its surface forever marking his mother and sister's eternal fates. Passing over the hill the land leveled into a valley layered in sleet and ice they were empty, a frozen wasteland. But his mind saw otherwise as the hills filled with echos from Canterlot, of the two armies that clashed there, now do so here in the center of the valley "it just a memory" he whispered to himself lowering his head and closing his eyes he trudged forth through the wind, the screams of the dying, still Pearced his spirit even now. he felt like crying, to break down there and morn the loss of his ponies, but he couldn't, not yet. His plans of escaping Equestria had failed in the past, on each turn he watched as the Solar Guard had slain every civilian and soldier they could with blade and spell. Now was his last attempt, they will be safe and rebuild in peace, or they will freeze to death along the way. Something out here had attracted his attention, and he was drawn to it like a moth to a lantern. It was... otherworldly, something that was on the wrong side of the veil. now, 2 weeks later the grass of the highlands of Equestria had turned into snowy tundra, they are almost there. Just one more hill. Making his way over it, he froze immediately at the sight that greeted him. "Your majesty?" His captain, Noctis approached his side "what is it, are we almost there?" "It can't be..." he whispered barely audible to his captain while taking a couple steps forward. Beyond the hill was a large valley completely covered in huge mounds of snow, stretching as far as the eye could see. But it was not wilderness, for in the middle of the valley was a castle. the castle of the crystal empire, now lay in ruins, half-buried and frozen over. Shining heard the others behind him stop at this site. "But, I don't understand I thought it had disappeared." "Well, apparently it hasn't, but by the look of it, it might as well have," he said, as his attention sought out other buildings within the city. What remained was completely buried and reduced to rubble. "If anypony would live here again it would be easier to clear out the city and start over then it would to repair it." the prince said, motioning with his head to approach. "Indeed." they continued forward into the city ruins. the Captain by his side as they walked. they looked around. almost all of the houses here reduced to burned wooden frames, and under all of the snow second and even third story houses were reduced to first story frame of chard wood as ice froze over the bottoms of the houses "Is this where we were going?" The captain said breaking the silence shining hesitated for a moment then nodded "it is, whatever it is, it's inside the castle" looking up at the ruined castle that now loomed over them as a phantom Noctis shivered, "I don't know about this, your majesty, it feels like something is watching us, just waiting, perhaps we should leave." "no, who or what it is can help us, I can tell" "I mean you no disrespect but how can you be sure of that, you don't even know what it is. for all we know, I could be some kind of monster or demon awaiting for its victims to fall in its trap" "it most likely is," shining said Shugging before continuing to walk, leaving the captain to catch up. "Have you gone mad? how would walking into some creature's trap help us find a new home?" shining looked back at him with a tired expression, the kind of exhaustion one can only gain after months of fighting. "perhaps you don't understand where we are," shining motioned around the city with his forehoof, "welcome to my grandmother's kingdom, the Crystal Empire. the city-state that disappeared" Noctis' eyes widened in realization and slight horror, "you mean we are staying? here?" shining stared at him "would you have preferred prance?" he said raising an eyebrow before turning around he made it to the front gate of the Castle. not waiting for Noctis to catch up. upon entering the Main hall shining heard his captain say something to his soldiers which caused them to pull out there blades and swords. clearly an order to be ready for anything, but he was too busy taking in the nostalgic scenery of the Castles halls, where glorious tapestries once hung proudly, and stain glass window glowed with color but now lay shattered "Break the Veil, my son," the shadow said with a vicious sneer. "And these Ruins shall be yours, until my return." Shining opened his mouth to argue, he would not dare rip his domain, and to an extent himself asunder, but the haunting images stopped him. He had nothing left but a few subjects, within a month the entire royal family had been reduced a now lone monarch, a shade, and a runaway, one with no home or country, he could only hope that Aunt Radiant Hope was out there somewhere. He glanced back to the entrance of the throne room. He could see the white glow of the sunlight snow through the black cristal blades that filled the room. And the shadows remaining ponies of his cause. He then looked down. "They will die otherwise," he finally admitted turning towards the door he walked out of the throne room, the black shade following behind. He paid his soldiers worried glances no mind, he left through the castle's main gates and into the blizzard once more. there it was,' he thought, glancing at the pedestal that once held the crystal heart, whole now shattered. "Its fasenating isn't it, that such a small gem can keep an entire city-state from freezing over." Using his magic he ripped the pedestal out of the ground and threw it across the Ice, scraping along, only to land in a snowbank that now covers the side of what was once a road. He focused his magic within himself grabbing hold of his own magic wellspring. He knew he was too young to manifest into a new body, he had yet become one with his domain of the spirit world, in short, he was a young alicorn who is too young to become immortal, while still flesh and blood his magic wellspring is the only link to his own domain. what he was going to do would kill him if his intent had been anything else, but in a way, he will still die. He tightened his own grasp on it. He cringed and gasped in pain as he felt the wellspring collapse in on its self and break open. He could feel the Necrotic Rift that was once his wellspring Devouring him from the inside and his skin and flesh became dust. Rearing up onto his hind legs he lights his horn, the once magenta light now a sickly green and bone white. Shining could feel the veil between the spirit world and this one crack as the souls within screamed in agony. The rift between worlds was becoming unstable. Stamping the ice he released his spell ripping the rift from his body and casting it into the sky. And the veil shattered. Shining Star only watched as the sky above cracked and broke, revealing the empty void beyond. The ground shook as thousands of frozen corpses throughout the city dug themselves out from under the ice. Ponies who were at one point his future subjects rose in unlife, ghastly cries for release bellowed from rotting throats. The shade approached the now skeletal alicorn "now, is the time. The rise of a new kingdom. One in which Celestia can never touch, now what remains of you people may now recover in peace." the two turned to face the remains of the Night Watch and lunar Guards They stared at them with horror "your highness, what have you done?" Shining sighed, before walking past them and into the throne room. "What had to be done." Twilight pissed at being sent to the castle of the 2 sistersAuthor's Note Legend of the Sun Moon and Stars, this was the end of act 1 Twilight pissed at being sent to the castle of the 2 sisters ~☽~ Luna Just sat there, watching the scene in front of her. She watched as Twilight was buried her tear-stained face into her sister's chest, her body racked with silent sobs, Celestia Wrapped her wings around her and this her hooves she held the mare as close as possible, she pressed her cheek to twilights head as she tried to fight off her own tears "I-I'm, sorry Twilight, we have been searching for two months now, we... We looked everywhere. I'm, so, so sorry," Celestia said, "N-no, princess, y-your wrong she is out there, I-I know she is, you can't do that to her." "Twilight please, I've kept the search going on for you. Ponyville, Cloudsdale, Everfree castle, Applelosa, we even search the northern cities, no one had seen her. It time for you to move on, she, she's not coming back. This is not healthy Twilight" "No, no no no No, They weren't looking hard enough," twilight pulled her head away to glared at the alabaster alicorn "YOU DID NOT LOOK HARD ENOUGH!" she yelled. The sense of Anger and grief was becoming palpable in the air. Her four remaining friends were no better shape than the Lavender unicorn, but they sat on the other side of the throne room staring at the two. They too looked as if they had been crying but now watching the situation at hand. "W-wha-What?" celestia stammered, "Mme?" "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" twilight yell pushing Celestia back, tensing her muscles as if getting ready to pounce "TWILIGHT!" her friends yelled out aghast. Luna saw the Guards at the door grow stiff, and she heard the metal clopping of hooves of the guards posted at the throne approaching to defend their monarch, thinking fast lune unfurled her left wing to block their path, causing the guard to slide to a stop. Glancing back for a moment she saw the guards fell onto their rumps to avoid running into her, but the look of disbelief on their faces made it clear they got the unspoken order. Twilights friends, however, refused to not interfere "LET GO OF ME!" Twilight screeched, resisting her friends as all four of them tried to pull her back "Now relax, sugercube, pl~" Twilight whipped her head around and glared at Applejack, "NO! SHE SENT US THERE!" she yelled before turning back "YOU SENT US THERE TO DIE, ADMID IT, YOU DONT CARE ABOUT US, WE ARE NOTHING BUT A TOOL TO YOU ARNT WE?" Celestia Reeled back from that "N-No Twilight that's not true, you are my~" "LIES" twilight yelled Stamping her hooves on the Marble Floor, in her fury Twilights fur turned white and her mane and tail burst into flames, stepping forward she either failed to notice her flaming hoove prints or did not care, either way, everypony in the room backed away in fear from the approaching flaming mare "YOU DONT CARE, YOU DONT CARE" She repeated like a mantra "TWILIGHT! what is this what are you doing?" luna asked as she watched Twilights eye burn with fury. "FINE!" she yelled, completely ignoring luna as she started channeling a spell "if you won't search for Fluttershy, then I will," she said before teleporting out of the throne room while taking a huge chunk out of the marble floor with her. everypony just stood there staring at the new hole in shock for a moment before Celestia slumped over, applejack, rarity, rainbow dash, and pinkie and just looked at each other for a moment before turning back to the princess. who simply looked back up to them sighed then turned away it was a rainbow to speak first "don't worry Princess I'm sure she did not mean it,we can bring her back and~" "no," Celestia interrupted while shaking her head, "She is gone, just, leave us." they simply looked at each other again this time in worry before turning a questioning glance to Luna, who simply nodded. with that the got up and walked out. the Question was silent but the answer was clear, Find Twilight. once the main doors closed Celestia climbed the dais and threw herself onto to the throne. luna just stared at her, she looked tired as she lounged like a bored foal in class waiting for the school day to end, she looked up to the roof and just closed her eyes, tbh luna had never seen her sister like this "Tia, are you going to be alright?" luna asked hesitantly she sighed before making eye contact, "you were right luna, you're always right," she mumbling that last part. "Tia, it's not your fault." "isn't it? you told me to not to give her the task of reforging the Scepter of the Stars, but again like a thousand years ago I was blinded. I just wanted to free the stars, and I brushed off your warning. now please lulu, I just want to be alone" Celestia Explained. Luna knew what she must have been thinking, what if it was Twilight who had Disappeared instead of Fluttershy, she could not just bare the blame the is Rightfully hers, to do so would be admitting her crimes of sending a mafia after twilight to the one pony who had Equal Authority and definitely enough authority to punish her for that crime. luna just sighed in defeat before walking out of the throne room, besides if there is anypony to blame for this mess its Thieves Cant (Gathering the Luner Guard Luna askes Thieves Cant who he sent after twilight and threatens to have him arrested he hells her she can't because of her involvement, luna puts a Geas on him to never be able to think of/or speak of luna she then calls the guard to storm the business and arrested the stores employees on charges of Bit laundering 'my friends will not stand by while I am thrown in a dungeon you will regret this!' his last words to luna) Dream Monster (Twilight's Alicorn Magic)Author's Note Legend of the Sun Moon and Stars, this was the beginning scene of act 2 where twilight alicorn magic was freed from the philosopher stone and reunited with her Dream Monster (Twilight's Alicorn Magic) Canterlot Castle was quiet. In the room of Celestia's Student, nothing moved, nothing but the rhythmic rise and fall of the covers as the mare herself let out silent snores. It was midnight and the full moon was visible through the nearby window, looming near the horizon peeking out from the dispersing sheets of clouds. The moon appeared more like a Spying pony than a celestial object, its white rays cast many shadows throughout Twilight's chambers, most of which fell on the sleeping form on the bed, and it was the only light in the room. By the time midnight turned into two in the morning, the clouds dispersed enough for the starlight to join the moonlight, but as the light touch the glossy white Philosopher stone laying by its owner, something changed, the gem turned purple, as it did, it produced a sparkling mist of similar hue that flowed onto the floor. it only took a few moments before the mist covered the floor of the entire bedchamber, only then did the mist start to compress into a form. Its colors morphed from purple to a midnight blue of early dusk. if anyone would have seen the uncomprehensible mass, it would have been best described as the sky, that is if one ignored the pulsing protruding masses of crimson that lashed out from it as if pleading for anything to grab hold, only to die off and become whole once more. out of the mass stepped a hoof, then another, and another as the mist stabilized into the form of an ethereal Alicorn. once fully formed it looked around the chambers before its eyes fell upon Twilight. taking its first true steps, it approached the mare, only stopping at the bedside, looking down the Alicorn smiled. It turned to look around the room as if trying to find anypony who could possibly bear witness to what It was about to do, catching none, the Alicorn lowered its head to touch its horn against the sleeping unicorn’s forehead, upon impact the Alicorn's form broke apart once more into a mist, before Seeping into the Unicorn’s body through her eyes and nose. Not a moment later, Twilight started to tremble and squirm in her sleep
SecretsAuthor's Note this is as far into the production of a story idea i had called the Legend of the Sun moon and stars, the story was scrapped. "ah well, its been fun as always." ~ ~ ~ ~
A letter to CelestiaAuthor's Note this would have been the Epilogue to Legend of the Sun moon and stars i will most likely never use this though its a fun read A letter to Celestia Epilogue ~~Dear Princess Celes~~... Princess Twilight Sparkle
Twilight Daughter of Nightlight noble of Canterlot is given a royal HouseAuthor's Note ending scene of the Finale of the Legend of the Sun moon and stars Twilight Daughter of Nightlight noble of Canterlot is given a royal House The end of the day solar Court, Canterlot Castle ~✹~ Celestia's attention was pulled away from the daily petitions that had been submitted for tomorrows court rulings, by a commotion that could be heard from the other side of the Throne room doors, while the Guards at the doors and in front of the throne stood in position, Celestia could tell by the Guards tightening grasp on their spears that they could hear it too.
"oh, no!" he exclaimed, "I meant the problem that actually matters! our Daughter"
Chapter 3 Nightmare Within RewriteChapter 3 Nightmare Within Rewrite ~ ✶ ~ Once the light focused in her eyes she saw the most beautiful and rarest sight for somepony who never left the forest, the rolling grass hills of the gardens looked as if they stretched for miles, she knew logically that she knew she was exaggerating.
The Silence quickly became Deafening, despite his words she knew for sure that she was not going to sleep tonight ~ ~ ~ ~ Author's Note this was a Chapter of The Nightmare within and was to lead into a side story called 'The Nightmare Within: Fall of an Empire' about Sombra and shining armor going to the Crystal Empire to rule, there was going to be a Threat that ended with the corruption of Sombra and the fall of amore
Nightmare Within Rewrite ExamAuthor's Note this one might have been the roughest. this was the newest. ~ ☽ ~ The examiners deem the filly to be too powerful and they are fearful of her, Professor arcane catalyst even uses the bird as evidence they believe that Twilight is an abomination, a walking disaster just waiting to cause death and destruction, he mistakes the Celestial magic as Dark Magic and is convinced that the filly is evil, that she is evil is not what the other examiners would go far to say but are willing to mark the filly up as a flair, and restrict her magic Perminately until it can be properly controlled angered by the evil remark Celestia Scolds him, for judging a foal who has almost no control over her magic, and tells them that Twilight will be her personal Student if she must
Nightmare Within: the Lunar Rebellion EndingAuthor's Note this would have been just after the end of the Nightmare Within and after luna was banished i did not get close to finishing this chapter, basically, Shing armor fought his corrupted father and took over ruling over the ruins of the crystal Empire. which would have been the end of their story until the events of season 3 episode 1 and 2 this would have been the epilogue to the story Nightmare Within: the Lunar Rebellion Ending The land was frozen, and the BLizzard winds kept him and the remainder of his ponies struggling as they trailed up the frost covered hills. "What had to be done."
Twilight pissed at being sent to the castle of the 2 sistersAuthor's Note Legend of the Sun Moon and Stars, this was the end of act 1 Twilight pissed at being sent to the castle of the 2 sisters ~☽~ Luna Just sat there, watching the scene in front of her. Luna knew what she must have been thinking, what if it was Twilight who had Disappeared instead of Fluttershy, she could not just bare the blame the is Rightfully hers, to do so would be admitting her crimes of sending a mafia after twilight to the one pony who had Equal Authority and definitely enough authority to punish her for that crime. luna just sighed in defeat before walking out of the throne room, besides if there is anypony to blame for this mess its Thieves Cant (Gathering the Luner Guard Luna askes Thieves Cant who he sent after twilight and threatens to have him arrested he hells her she can't because of her involvement, luna puts a Geas on him to never be able to think of/or speak of luna she then calls the guard to storm the business and arrested the stores employees on charges of Bit laundering 'my friends will not stand by while I am thrown in a dungeon you will regret this!' his last words to luna)
Dream Monster (Twilight's Alicorn Magic)Author's Note Legend of the Sun Moon and Stars, this was the beginning scene of act 2 where twilight alicorn magic was freed from the philosopher stone and reunited with her Dream Monster (Twilight's Alicorn Magic) Canterlot Castle was quiet.
