Chapters Eternal night had recently dominated Equestria. Nightmare Moon was the princess of Equestria. The first time Nightmare Moon tried to destroy her sister, she failed. But on the second try, she beat her sister. But that wasn’t the only thing she had to do. She needed to warn her subjects that Celestia was gone and that she was the only princess of Equestria and that she needed to destroy the Elements of Harmony. And she did it. Only no one remembered her, but even though it made her sad from the inside, she knew that soon her subjects would get used to the eternal night. Nightmare Moon knew the consequences of an eternal night, so she cast a spell on the moon, allowing the moon to transmit the same kind of energy the sun brought, allowing plants and animals to survive. When the ponies found out what Nightmare Moon did, they felt more relieved that they wouldn’t cease to exist and then gradually accepted Nightmare Moon as the new princess of Equestria. She even allowed the ponies to visit the castle.
Nightmare Moon was sleeping now in her bed, she hugged in her hooves, a stuffed Nightmare Rarity doll. Since the night was eternal, she didn’t have to worry about raising or lowering the moon because the moon was already in the sky. So she could be sleeping for a while. But she knew she couldn’t sleep all night, because she had real political duties. After a while sleeping, she decided to wake up, got out of bed, she put her blue armor that was on a blue side table with a purple lamp for one more night. But first, she was going to have breakfast, though Nightmare Moon would rather call it night cafe, since the night was eternal.
As she left the room, she closed the door with her magic, and began to admire the decoration of the castle. She smiled at that. The decor matched a lot. She didn’t do it, because she couldn’t even sew. Who sewed was her maid Rarity. Since Nightmare Moon won, she needed help with the castle tapestries, somepony had to sew for her and then put them in the castle. But there was a problem: Nightmare Moon didn’t know how to sew. And when she realized that, Nightmare Moon knew she needed help. But who would want to help her? She had to leave the castle and go to Ponyville looking for somepony who could sew and who was willing to help her. And she found it. At first, Rarity seemed uncertain whether or not to accept because she had a younger sister named Sweetie Belle. Nightmare Moon said she would warn the sister of the white unicorn. Sweetie Belle was a little afraid of the dark mare, but Nightmare Moon tried to calm the frightened fily by saying that she meant no harm to her. With those words, Sweetie Belle was safer. Then Nightmare Moon explained to Sweetie Belle that Rarity would live in the castle with her. Sweetie Belle looked uncertain because she didn’t want to live alone, but she remembered that her and Rarity’s parents would spend the days with her. The filly accepted.
When Nightmare Moon arrived at the table where the food was, she saw Rarity beside the chair that resembled a throne. When the alicorn sat down, Rarity bowed, “Do you need anything else, princess?”
“No, Rarity”, replied Nightmare Moon, now looking at Rarity.
“Is there anything else I can do for you, princess?” asked Rarity, still bowing.
Nightmare Moon thought before answering the question, “no, Rarity. Not in the moment”
“Okay, princess”, said Rarity, before leaving.
“Wait, Rarity”, called Nightmare Moon.
Rarity looked back, “yes, princess?”
“Have you eaten yet?” asked Nightmare Moon, possibly worried.
“No, princess. While you were sleeping, I’ve been making your food and the food I made is just for you. Why?” answered Rarity.
Nightmare Moon smiled, “Rarity, you may be my maid, but that doesn’t mean you can’t eat anything”
Rarity raised an eyebrow, “Really, my princess? Am I not going to be punished for eating your food?”
Nightmare Moon was a little surprised, “Of course not, Rarity. Everypony needs to eat and I don’t want any caretakers and employees to starve because of me”
“If you say so, princess…” Rarity approached the table and sat where she had milk and toast. Rarity was a little far from Nightmare Moon, but not too far, but not too close either.
Nightmare Moon looked around a little uncomfortable with that. She wished Rarity had sat with her, “Rarity”, she began.
Rarity was already eating, she was magically holding the glass of milk and toast. Hearing the princess’s voice, she looked at Nightmare Moon, “yes, my princess?”
“Could you please sit next to me?” asked Nightmare Moon.
Rarity swallowed the piece of toast that was in her mouth before bending down and answering, “Yes, my princess”, she approached where she had a chair very close to Nightmare Moon, but the chair wasn’t in the center of Nightmare Moon. The chair was on the right side. When she got very close to Nightmare Moon, she went back to eating. Nightmare Moon watched Rarity eat before returning to eat as well.
When they were done eating, Nightmare Moon wiped her mouth with a napkin. Rarity approached Nightmare Moon before bowing, “Is there anything I can do for you, princess?”
“No, Rarity. But thanks for keeping me company for me”, said Nightmare Moon with a smile.
Rarity smiled, “thank you, princess. I’m glad I make you happy and… ”
Suddenly, Nightmare Moon kissed Rarity’s cheek. Rarity blushed. When Nightmare Moon finished, she continued to smile before answering, “no, Rarity. Thank you very much. No pony in the was for me when I needed it most”
Rarity stopped blushing and was confused by what Nightmare Moon just said, “I thought Rainbow Dash was for you when you needed it most, princess”
“Well, yes. She is the most loyal lunar guard I’ve ever had. But you’re different from her”, said Nightmare Moon.
“What do you mean, princess?” asked Rarity, now confused.
“You’re always with me when I need advice, you who make the food, you who make and put the tapestries and you receive the visitors who come to visit the castle”, replied Nightmare Moon.
“I only do my duty, princess”, Rarity defended herself.
“I know, Rarity. But the way you do it just to please me makes me happy”, said Nightmare Moon with a smile.
“Thank you, princess”, thanked Rarity with a smile.
“Rarity”, began Nightmare Moon.
“What’s is, princess?” asked Rarity.
Nightmare Moon hated having to say that, but she needed, “You don’t have to call me princess when it’s just the two of us”
Rarity looked surprised, “Princess, are you sure? Won’t you be bothered?”
“No, Rarity. You can stay quiet. Just call me princess when we’re around my subjects”, said Nightmare Moon.
“And when we’re near of your Lunar guard?” wanted to know Rarity.
Nightmare Moon wondered before answering, “When we’re near my royal guard, call me princess. Got it?”
Rarity bowed as she said, “Yes, prin… I mean, darling”
Nightmare Moon couldn’t believe she would say that, but she wasn’t to blame, “Rarity, you don’t have to bow when it’s just the two of us”
Rarity was surprised, “really, darling? Won’t you feel bothered?”
“No, Rarity. I guarantee you. Just be formal with me if we’re around my subjects and my Lunar guards”, replied Nightmare Moon.
“Okay, dear. I’m sorry for doing things that you felt bothered about”, apologized Rarity.
“No need to apologize, Rarity. You’re not to blame”, said Nightmare Moon with a smile, before approaching Rarity with her wings. Rarity was confused, she didn’t know why, but she blushed at that.
While Nightmare Moon felt the opposite of Rarity. She was smiling at that. The princess just hoped this was working to win Rarity’s heart.
Rainbow Dash opened the door and went to Nightmare Moon and Rarity, “princess! They need you in the throne room”
Nightmare Moon was looking at Rainbow Dash before Rarity, “Well, I’m going, Rarity. See you later”
As Nightmare Moon asked Rarity to be formal only when they were with the subjects and the lunar guards, Rarity bowed and said, “Yes, princess. Do I need to do something for you while you're in the throne room?”
“No, Rarity. But if you could store the uneaten food and wash the plates and cutlery we use for breakfast, I would be grateful”, said Nightmare Moon.
Rarity bowed, “okay, princess”, she said, before going to get each plate with and without food and dirty cutlery with her magic and Nightmare Moon following Rainbow Dash into the throne room.
As Rarity headed toward the kitchen, she began to think about what just happened. Couldn’t she help noticing that Nightmare Moon has been acting weird around her. Was Nightmare Moon all right? Nightmare Moon had been acting so happy around her. It was as if the princess suddenly fell in love with her. But that couldn’t be true, could it?
“Rarity, you’re imagining things. She is an Equestria princess. A princess would never fall in love with a pony”, Rarity told to herself as she washed the dishes.
But, Rarity began to remember that Nightmare Moon kissed her on the cheek. This was an act that Nightmare Moon loved her. But it couldn’t be. She shouldn't make hasty decisions. Rarity decided to believe that Nightmare Moon kissed her cheek just out of curiosity, to know how Rarity would act.
Meanwhile, in the throne room, there were some ponies who were talking about their situations and Nightmare Moon was listening to her subjects’ problems before telling her what she was going to do. Though she was focused on that, her thoughts were on Rarity. When she was done with Equestria politics, Nightmare Moon planned to invite Rarity to a date. Nightmare Moon would try on go to this date to confess to Rarity that she loved her.
When Nightmare Moon finally finished talking to the ponies, her organizer Tale Tail had documents for Nightmare Moon to sign. She made a quill appear before grabbing a document and reading to see if she should sign or not. At the moment, no law drew her attention. She had a bored face. She never liked politics issues. When Nightmare Moon finally ended, she put her back on the throne and rubbed her forehead. Her belly growled. She wondered if Rarity had already made the lunch. Nightmare Moon left the throne and went to the dining room to eat, but if Rarity is still doing, she would wait.
Arriving in the dining room, she realized that the food was already on the table. Rarity was waiting for her princess. Nightmare Moon sat in her throne-shaped chair and began to eat. One of the things Nightmare Moon also admired about Rarity besides her knowing how to make tapestries was that Rarity could cook as well. She heard the sound of a belly growling. Nightmare Moon, with some food in her mouth, looked at Rarity and realized that the growling belly was Rarity’s.
Nightmare Moon swallowed the food before answering, “Are you hungry, Rarity?”
“Yes. Can I really eat your food, darling? Aren’t you going to be bothered?” asked Rarity.
Nightmare Moon smiled, “Of course not, Rarity. You can eat”
Rarity smiled before choosing what to eat. She chose Roe that was on a plate. Roe was her favorite food. She grabbed a spoon before she started eating.
Nightmare Moon wondered if she should ask Rarity about the date. She didn’t know if now was the best time. The alicorn decided to eat first and wait for Rarity to finish eating so that there would be no risk of Rarity choking on food for being surprised at what she was going to say.
When they had finished eating, Nightmare Moon watched Rarity pick up the plates and cutlery with her magic before heading to the kitchen to wash. Nightmare Moon knew she should ask if Rarity wanted to have a date, so she followed Rarity, which washed the plates and cutlery. She was by Rarity’s side. Nightmare Moon didn’t know how to ask, she feared that Rarity would reject the invitation.
“Rarity”, began Nightmare Moon.
Rarity stopped what she was doing and looked to the side, “yes, darling?”
“You… You…” Nightmare Moon was stammering. She was nervous. Her ears were down.
“Me what, dear?” wanted to know Rarity, now worried. She raised a hoof.
“Would you… would you like to go on a date with me today?” asked Nightmare Moon.
Rarity certainly didn’t expect that question. She didn’t know what to say, “I don’t know, darling”
“Come on, Rarity. I’d like to spend time with you without being in the castle”, encouraged Nightmare Moon with a smile. Her ears were no longer lowered.
“Okay, dear. Yes, I’d like to go on a date with you”, said Rarity.
Nightmare Moon smiled even more at the answer, “... But before could i clean the dishes, darling?” asked Rarity.
Nightmare Moon remembered that Rarity has to wash the dishes, “oh. Of course, Rarity. I’ll wait for you out here”, she left the kitchen, allowing Rarity to finish her task.
In the kitchen, Rarity didn’t know why Nightmare Moon was inviting her on a date. Was the princess all right? If Nightmare Moon was fine, then why call her on a date? She intended to ask Nightmare Moon about this after she was done.
After hours, Rarity finally left the kitchen and saw Nightmare Moon waiting for her, “I’m done, darling. Now we can go to this date”
Nightmare Moon smiled when she saw Rarity, “Good, Rarity. While you were doing this, I already warned Rainbow Dash that you and I will be spending time together in Ponyville”
“Darling, did you tell her we’ll have a date?” asked Rarity.
Nightmare Moon shook her head, “no, Rarity”
Rarity let out a sigh of relief, “I’m relieved about that, darling”, she answered with relief.
They were already outside the castle, and were walking in the Everfree Forest. Nightmare Moon had her magic ready to attack Timber Wolves who dared to attack Rarity and her. They heard a howling sound. The Timber Wolf stepped out of the shadows and ran to where Rarity and Nightmare Moon were. Rarity was scared. Nightmare Moon prepared her magic before attacking the wolf and becoming simple twigs.
“That was close, dear”, said Rarity, now recovering.
“Yes, Rarity. That was close”, agreed Nightmare Moon.
When they arrived in Ponyville, they saw that they had several ponies awake on the eternal night of Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon smiled at that.
Rarity wanted to know something, “princess”
Nightmare Moon looked at Rarity, “yes, Rarity?”
“Why you call me for a date? Is everything okay?” wanted to know Rarity.
“It’s just ... I’d like to spend time with you”, said Nightmare Moon the truth, but not the whole truth.
“Is that it, darling?” asked Rarity.
“Well, yes,” replied Nightmare Moon, not wanting to say that the real reason for the date was to confess to Rarity what she felt. “Would you like to go to the park, Rarity?”
Rarity smiled, “Of course, princess”
In the park there were several ponies, some were picnicking and others were sitting on a bench. Nightmare Moon and Rarity arrived at the park and saw a tree.
“Let’s sit there”, said Nightmare Moon, pointing to a tree. They approached the tree and sat together.
As they sat on the tree, Nightmare Moon and Rarity leaned their backs on the tree and watched the night sky.
“Princess, your night is just beautiful”, complimented Rarity with a smile.
Nightmare Moon smiled at that, “Thank you, Rarity. No one has ever complimented my night before”
Rarity was surprised by this, “but why didn’t anypony compliment your night, princess?”
Nightmare Moon was sad, but wasn’t redirected to Rarity, “In the past, the ponies stayed up and had fun on my sister’s day while on my night, they slept”
Rarity was sad, “princess, I’m so sorry that you had to say that”
“Rarity, don’t be sorry. I never told anypony what I was feeling, i didn’t even tell my sister what I was feeling, so thanks for letting me vent”, said Nightmare Moon.
Rarity is now curious, “Princess, what’s your sister’s name?”
“... Celestia”, replied Nightmare Moon with hatred as she said her sister’s name. She was gritting her teeth as she spoke her sister’s name.
“Princess, I’m so sorry”, said Rarity regretfully that Nightmare Moon spoke the name of who her princess hated.
Nightmare Moon stopped being annoyed, gritted her teeth and looked at Rarity, “Don’t be like that, Rarity. I’m not mad at you”, she put a hoof on Rarity’s chest.
Rarity smiled, “I’m happy and relieved about this, princess”
Rarity’s stomach growled. She looked down at her snoring belly before looking at Nightmare Moon, “I’m hungry. Shall we eat in a restaurant?”
Nightmare Moon smiled, “Of course, Rarity. It’s almost time for lunch and I’m getting hungry too”
Nightmare Moon realized she didn’t know Ponyville, she didn’t even know where she had a restaurant. “Rarity, I don’t know where a restaurant is, as you spent a lot of time in Ponyville before becoming my maid, could you guide us to a restaurant?”
“Of course i can, princess,” replied Rarity before rising. “Follow me. I know where there is a restaurant right next to the park”
Nightmare Moon got up, “show the way, Rarity”
Rarity started walking, leading the way. The ponies watched Rarity and Nightmare Moon leave the park. They began to think they were dating because the two mares were together.
As they walked in Ponyville, Nightmare Moon couldn’t take the smile off her face when she noticed that it had ponies awake in her night. But she was even happier to notice that no pony was missing the sun and that made her even happier.
“Princess, we’re here”, said Rarity, now looking at Nightmare Moon as she pointed with a hoof at a restaurant.
They entered the restaurant, chose a place and took a menu to choose what to eat. A waitress mare walked over to where they both had a notebook and a quill, “have you two chosen?”
Rarity looked at the mare, “yes. I would like Risotto”
The mare noted before looking at Nightmare Moon, “What about you, princess? Have you chosen?”
“Yes. I’d like country noodles”, said Nightmare Moon.
The mare noted before heading toward the kitchen. Nightmare Moon looked at Rarity, “You know, Rarity. I just realized that on the menu there is only fancy and well-prepared food”
“Yes, Princess. In this restaurant they are known for making fancy foods and well prepared foods”, said Rarity.
Nightmare Moon was curious, “Have you ever been to this restaurant before, Rarity?”
“Yes, Princess. Whenever I would prefer to eat out, I would always go to this restaurant because I always like to eat well-prepared and fancy foods”, replied Rarity.
“What’s your favorite food, Rarity?” asked Nightmare Moon.
“Roe,” answered Rarity. “And yours?”
“Waffles”, said Nightmare Moon.
Nightmare Moon and Rarity heard the sound of footsteps and saw the same mare that attended them, was bringing the food to both. The mare handed Risotto to Rarity and Nightmare Moon, the country noodle, “enjoy your meal”, said the mare.
Rarity smiled, “thank you, dear”, she thanked her.
“Thank you, loyal subject”, said Nightmare Moon with a smile.
As the mare left, the two began to eat.
When they finished eating, Nightmare Moon paid. As they left the restaurant, they began to walk. Rarity looked at Nightmare Moon, “now what, princess? Where will we go?”
“To the park, to spend some more time together”, replied Nightmare Moon with a seductive smile.
Rarity didn’t know why she blushed when Nightmare Moon said, “to spend more time together”. She couldn’t develop feelings for the princess, could she?
“Rarity, are you ok?” asked Nightmare Moon.
Rarity, still blushed, replied, “Y-yes”, she stammered.
“So why are you blushing, my dear?” asked Nightmare Moon, now with a smile.
Rarity blushed even more at being called “dear”, “is that… Is that… your compliment took me by surprise, princess”
“It’s very easy to make you blush, dear”, said Nightmare Moon, still with a smile.
As much as Rarity wanted to ask why Nightmare Moon wanted to make her blush, she held back and didn’t ask that.
Arriving at the park, Nightmare Moon and Rarity lay on the grass to watch the stars. Rarity was sitting on the left and Nightmare Moon on the right. Nightmare Moon couldn’t help but notice that Rarity blushed many times this night. Has Rarity developed feelings for Nightmare Moon? The alicornian hoped so. She didn’t know if she should confess to Rarity to be her Marefriend here in the park or in her castle. Her advantage is that now was that she could find out if Rarity felt the same way, but the disadvantage was that the ponies would hear her confessing love to her maid and even find out that Nightmare Moon would have a Marefriend. She started to think. Maybe she had better confess to Rarity what she felt in the castle. That was what she was going to do. But she didn’t intend to go now, Nightmare Moon wanted to spend some time with Rarity in the park before they got back to the castle.
It’s been a few hours, and Nightmare Moon and Rarity were still in the park. The ponies in the park have already left their homes. Nightmare Moon didn’t know if the ponies went home to eat, went elsewhere in Ponyville, or went home to sleep. But if it were the last option, she wouldn’t be sad about that, because when her subjects woke up again, it would still be at night.
Nightmare Moon looked around and saw that Rarity has fell asleep and was snoring. She smiled and caught Rarity with her magic and flew to the castle. While flying, the foals smiled and called for the princess as they saw Nightmare Moon. The reason they were no longer afraid of Nightmare Moon was because the princess wasn’t evil, she didn’t do any harm to them. But more importantly, because they found out that Nightmare Moon liked foals. And with that, they felt calmer. Did they miss Celestia? They miss her. But Celestia never told them if she liked them like Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon smiled at that. She didn’t want anypony to be afraid of her and she didn’t want anypony, and especially a foal to cry in fear upon seeing her.
After flying a lot, Nightmare Moon arrived at his castle and landed on the ground. Rarity was still being held back by the magic of Nightmare Moon. She opened the door with her magic and entered. Entering, she closed the door with her magic. Nightmare Moon intended to take Rarity to the unicorn’s room. She couldn’t help but notice that Rarity was beautiful, especially while she slept.
Rainbow Dash saw Nightmare Moon approach her with Rarity. She bowed, “welcome back, princess”, said Rainbow Dash.
“Thank you, Rainbow”, thanked Nightmare Moon with a smile, before heading toward Rarity’s room to put her to sleep.
When Nightmare Moon arrived in Rarity’s room, she opened the door, put her on the bed, covered her, and kissed Rarity on the forehead. She left the room and closed the door. When Nightmare Moon was out of the room, she decided to go to the balcony. Her reason for wanting to go to the balcony wasn’t to watch the night sky, but to use her magic to enter the Dream Realm to see if had a subject of her who had a nightmare. Nightmare Moon might have caused eternal night, but that didn’t mean she wouldn’t protect her ponies from nightmares.
Rarity was in Nightmare Moon’s bedroom. They were in bed lying on their stomachs and were cuddling each other. Until, somepony knocked on the door, Nightmare Moon and Rarity stopped what they were doing and stared at the door.
“Come in”, said Nightmare Moon.
The door opened revealing Rainbow Dash. She looked nervous. The pegasus bowed, “princess, there’s a unicorn wanting to talk to you in the throne room”
Nightmare Moon and Rarity looked at each other, “Rarity i’m ill be right back. Wait for me here”, when she was gone, Nightmare Moon closed the door.
Rarity didn’t know why, but she sensed that something bad was going to happen. But she decided to not worry for nothing. Rarity got out of bed and headed toward the balcony and stared at the stars. Seeing the stars and the moon gave her an idea for a tapestry. Rarity brought out her sketchbook and her quill and began to draw.
Suddenly, she heard a scream. Rarity was startled and ran to the door to open it. Lucky, the door wasn’t locked. Rarity heard that a unicorn wanted to talk to Nightmare Moon in the throne room. She rushed to the throne room. Since she arrived at the castle, Nightmare Moon has treated her very well and shown the whole castle, especially the castle observatory.
Arriving in the throne room, Rarity realized that the door was closed. Rarity pushed the door open with her magic. When the door was fully opened, what she saw shocked her: Nightmare Moon was on the floor with her eyes closed. Worried, Rarity rushed over to Nightmare Moon.
“Princess! Are you ok?” asked Rarity in a concerned way. But Nightmare Moon didn’t answer.
Tears began to come out of her eyes, “no! No!” exclaimed Rarity, now about to cry.
She heard footsteps and saw a lavender unicorn with a dark blue mane and a pink and purple streak at its mane and tail. The unicorn wasn’t happy at all. Rarity approached the unicorn in an unhappy way as she had tears in her eyes, “who are you? What did you do with the princess?”
“I am Twilight Sparkle. And she isn’t the princess of Equestria. And I’m here to end her reign and bring Celestia back”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
Rarity was annoyed, “Why do you want Celestia back? Nightmare Moon can keep an entire city alive by using a spell that allows the moon to bring the same kind of energy as the sun”
“This is scientifically impossible! There’s no way the moon can bring the month more energy than the sun”, denied Twilight Sparkle.
“Yes, it’s possible. Why are you doing this?” wanted to know Rarity.
“Because I failed the exam to become a student of Princess Celestia and that made me sad. And when I found that Nightmare Moon returned from her exile, I tried to stop her, but when I arrived at the castle, I realized it was too late. So I came to the conclusion: If I defeat Nightmare Moon, Celestia will return to Equestria and rule again, and as a reward, I will become her student”, explained Twilight Sparkle.
“No. You will not go. I may be a simple maid, but that doesn’t mean I can’t fight”, said Rarity.
“You and Rainbow Dash should open your eyes. Nightmare Moon cannot rule Equestria. Celestia is the rightful princess of the throne”, said Twilight Sparkle.
“Wait. How do you know my name and Rainbow Dash’s?” wanted to know Rarity.
“I knew your name when you first entered this castle”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Wait, have you been stalking us, darling?” asked Rarity, now surprised.
“Yes. And I need you and Rainbow Dash to stop being loyal to Nightmare Moon”, replied Twilight Sparkle.
“I would never betray the princess”, denied Rarity, now angry.
“She isn’t a princess, Rarity. She only thinks of herself”, said Twilight Sparkle.
“You say that because you’ve never seen the side of Nightmare Moon”, said Rarity.
“I saw her side, yes. And she’s an evil mare who wants to destroy Celestia to cause eternal night and rule Equestria”, said Twilight Sparkle.
“That’s not about the good side of the ponies, darling,” said Rarity, not happy. “This is absolutely seeing the bad side of the ponies”
“Princess!”
The two mares looked back and saw Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash was annoyed to see Twilight, she ran to the lavender unicorn with a spear, “you! What did you do with the princess?!”
“Rainbow, you mustn’t not be loyal to Nightmare Moon. She’s evil”, said Twilight Sparkle.
Rainbow Dash was surprised before she got angry again, “How do you know my name? Are you a spy?!”
“I’m not a spy, Rainbow. I’m just here to end the reign of Nightmare Moon”, explained Twilight Sparkle.
“You will go to the dungeon and you will only be released when you're loyal to the princess!” exclaimed Rainbow Dash. Other Lunar guards cornered Twilight Sparkle and led her to the dungeon.
Twilight Sparkle was struggling to leave. Until, she remembered that she could teleport. She charged her magic and a white glow occurred all had to cover their hooves. When the white glow faded, Twilight Sparkle was no longer in the room.
“Look around the castle! We can’t let Twilight out of the castle”, said Rainbow Dash. The Lunar guards nodded before leaving the room, leaving Rarity and Nightmare Moon in the room alone.
Rarity felt tears in her eyes, “please, dear. Wake up”, she held her hooves to Nightmare Moon’s chin.
She put the hoof on Nightmare Moon’s chest to check if Nightmare Moon’s heart was beating. But to your unhappiness…
“No. No! No!!” exclaimed Rarity, now with more tears coming from her eyes. Her cheeks were already wet.
“This is all my fault. If I had confessed that I loved Nightmare Moon, I wouldn’t have suffered. But no. I denied what I felt. Now I realize that what I feel is that I love you. And now I can’t say that I love you, darling”, lamented Rarity. That said, she put her face and front hooves on Nightmare Moon’s body and began to cry even more.
“Please don’t cry, Rarity”
Rarity looked at Nightmare Moon and saw that Nightmare Moon was still with her eyes closed. Rarity stood and looked around confusedly.
“... This is just a nightmare”, the voice finished.
The scenery of the castle vanished and Nightmare Moon’s body also disappeared. Rarity looked around still confused, “princess?” she asked confusedly.
Rarity looked up and saw the moon, out of the moon came out Nightmare Moon with a benevolent smile. Rarity smiled and went to Nightmare Moon to hug her, “darling! Are you alright?”
Nightmare Moon smiled as she hugged back, “Of course I’m fine, Rarity. Tell me what the nightmare was like”
Rarity came out of the hug to tell, “It was awful, darling! We were in your bedroom. We were in bed lying on our stomachs and were cuddling each other. Until, Rainbow Dash knocked on the door, saying a lavender unicorn wanted to talk to you”
Nightmare Moon nodded to Rarity to continue.
“... And you told me to wait for me. I had a feeling something bad happened. Until, I heard your scream and went to the throne room, when I opened the throne room door, I saw you lying on the floor with your eyes closed. I felt sad, dear. Then came a lavender unicorn to me with an unhappy face, her name was Twilight Sparkle”, continued Rarity.
Now Nightmare Moon was surprised. She never imagined that a pony with a name related to the night would do that to her. But thankfully, it was a dream and it didn’t really happen.
“... Then, came Rainbow Dash, who took Twilight to the dungeon. But the unicorn teleported. Rainbow and the other guards went after her and I stood where your body was and i begin to cry and weeping because I realized that I was denying how I felt about you. I realized that what I feel is love. I love you, darling”, finished Rarity, now crying again and on the floor lying on her stomach and her ears were down.
Nightmare Moon was surprised. So Rarity already felt the same as her but she didn’t know that what she felt was love? She didn’t think Rarity felt the same way. But it seemed that Rarity loved her too, just like Nightmare Moon who loved Rarity.
“Rarity, don’t cry. That was just a nightmare. I’m still alive”, said Nightmare Moon, now stroking Rarity’s mane.
“I know, dear. But it looked so real”, said Rarity, still crying.
“Nightmares are like that, Rarity. Nightmares are just like dreams, it makes us believe that everything is real. But the difference is that dreams are just good things and nightmares are just bad things”, explained Nightmare Moon.
Rarity continued to cry, “So you’re still alive, darling?” Rarity wanted to be sure.
“Yes, Rarity. I’m still alive”, said Nightmare Moon with a smile. She lifted Rarity’s head and wiped the tears from the unicorn’s eyes with a hoof.
When Nightmare Moon finished wiping Rarity’s tears, the unicorn embraced Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon hugged Rarity back.
“Darling, I’m sorry that i’m not emotionally strong”, apologized Rarity.
“Don’t blame yourself, Rarity. Sometimes we all get sad for something”, said Nightmare Moon.
“I know, darling. But I am a maid of the Princess of Equestria. I should be an emotionally strong maid”, said Rarity.
“You don’t have to hide your emotions from me, Rarity. I won’t be mad at you just because you’re expressing yourself emotionally”, said Nightmare Moon with a smile.
Rarity wasn’t crying so much anymore, “really, darling? Aren’t you going to be bothered?”
“Really, Rarity”, replied Nightmare Moon with a smile.
Nightmare Moon realized that Rarity felt the same way she did. Maybe now would be the right time to ask, “Rarity”
Rarity looked at Nightmare Moon, “yes, darling?”
“Since you became my maid, I’ve started to develop feelings for you. I started trying to win your heart. But I didn’t expect you to feel the same way that I did, but I didn’t know what you felt was love”, continued Nightmare Moon.
Would Nightmare Moon ask what Rarity was thinking?
“... Rarity, will you be my Marefriend?” finished Nightmare Moon.
“Of course, darling. I feel the same way you do”, replied Rarity with a smile, before hugging Nightmare Moon. Nightmare Moon returned the hug.
Suddenly Nightmare Moon felt that Rarity was going to wake up. She got out of the hug and started flying away, “I need to go, Rarity. See you later”
When Rarity woke up, she touched her cheeks and noticed that her cheeks were wet. Rarity knew she was crying, but didn’t expect to cry while she slept. She looked at her bedroom clock and saw that it was seven o’clock. Rarity got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wipe her cheeks from tears and brush her mane.
Rarity never imagined she would fall in love with Nightmare Moon and she never imagined that Nightmare Moon would fall in love with her too. But would she and Nightmare Moon tell each other about their relationship? She needed to ask. But first, she had to finish brushing her mane and had to make breakfast.
When she was done brushing her mane, Rarity looked in the mirror before leaving the bathroom and bedroom. Now, she had to go to the kitchen to make the food.
After Nightmare Moon had finished her work in Dream Realm, she went into the dining room and saw that it had a lot of food on the table. Nightmare Moon saw Rarity already eating. The alicorn went to her chair.
Rarity heard footsteps and saw Nightmare Moon approach. Rarity looked over and spurred for Nightmare Moon to sit down. When Nightmare Moon sat down to eat, Rarity decided that now was the right time to ask.
“Darling”, began Rarity.
Nightmare Moon looked at Rarity, “yes, Rarity?”
“I have a question”, began Rarity.
“What’s your question?” asked Nightmare Moon.
“It’s about the beginning of our relationship, dear. Will you tell the others or will we keep it a secret?” said Rarity.
“Well, Rarity. The only ones you will know are my Lunar guards. Now, my subjects, I will not tell the them”, replied Nightmare Moon.
“What if somepony doesn’t accept it?” wanted to know Rarity.
“I’m sure they will, Rarity”, said Nightmare Moon with a smile.
“I hope so, dear”, said Rarity.
Nightmare Moon started eating the Waffles. Rarity looked at Nightmare before starting to eat too. Rarity never imagined she had feelings for Nightmare Moon but she also didn’t realize that Nightmare Moon had feelings for her since Rarity arrived at the castle. Ever since Rarity arrived at the castle, she had guessed that Nightmare Moon’s reason to treat her well was because she was like any other subject of a princess’s pony. But Rarity didn’t regret falling in love with her princess. Now with the Hearth’s Warming Eve coming, she and Nightmare Moon could spend that night together, with the castle’s Lunar guards as well. She just hoped it would arrive soon, because that way she and Nightmare Moon could be warm together that night.
