Monk of Aura
Meat and Greet Part 1
Previous ChapterNext ChapterThe sun was just peaking up the horizon when Allen got up. Easing himself out of his lover's arms, he was on his feet but still tired. After tucking Alexie back in and kissing her on the cheek, he left the bedroom heading to the kitchen to cook breakfast. Once inside, he flexed his aura as he mentally formed a soft vortex to stretch his chakra and his body. Once he was awake, he started making the meal starting with vegetables that go well with eggs. Softening them and whipping the eggs as they cooked and even preparing other foods for taste, nutrition and a form of desert.
As he cooked, the smell of breakfast and the warm light of the sun woke Alexie with such temptation, her wings floated her down to the dinning room with a ruffled bed head and loosely stretched sleeping shirt before remembering she didn't have a chief. Before she could get up, Allen walked out with a tray of food, two bare plates and empty glasses and a jug of juice. "Wow. Allen, what is all this?" Alexie looked a bit scared, thinking it was all for her.
"Breakfast. Starting off is a scrambled omelette with bell pepper, onion, mushroom, tomato, cilantro mixed with aged red cheddar and young Pepper Jack." Alexie could feel herself drool and growl from what she gather was the main coarse. "Next up for bread is some Black Bean bread and buttermilk honey biscuits." Her stomach was both adoring and despising it's owner's lover with the tempting food before it. "And condiments include apricot jam, caramel butter, simple chocolate gravy and salt and pepper gravy." He spread his arms and Alexie got the spoons and a plate before pilling her food on a plate and digging in.
Allen had a careful attention to detail and made sure that each morsel was cooked to a perfection. And just to make sure she didn't wake up too early, he'd opened the windows to the kitchen before closing them by the time the biscuits and bread were about done and ready to be served. She savored the food between chews and some of it she just scarfed down from hunger before taking two biscuits and mixing them with the chocolate gravy. The biscuits were fluffy and sweet on their own but the rich and salty chocolate mixed with the sweet honey, giving it an earthy undertone when they came together and took the apricot jam and spread it on the black bean bread. The beans were sweetened a little and the bread was a little tough, but the sweet of the jam and the crunch of the bread made it fun to chew.
The couple enjoy as much as they could but there was left overs after they quit so as to not over eat. So he put the eggs in a disposable container, wrapped the uneaten bread and did the same for the biscuits to keep them from going stale. the gravy was a complicated matter as the same bread wrap was pressed to the gravy surfaces to save them. The jams were unfortunately lost but there was a pony Alexie knew that could benefit from the treats. "Honey, how about we hang out today and donate the food along the way." He smile at her idea, thinking it would be better than being cooped up for the day. The two head to her room and Allen got dressed in some fresh pants while Alexie dressed up in cyan tiger print leggings, form fit navy knee-high boots and shirt and a cropped black jacket with sky blue trim. He never could get tired of seeing her dress so fashionably.
They leave the house and she leads the way to what could only be described as a gingerbread house topped with sugar. "I assure you, it's not food." Alexie playfully teased her husband while Allen failed to push back a blush of embarrassment. "Come on." She walked in with him and the first pony in his face was pink.
"Hello goofy couple." The pink pony, Pinkie Pie, greeted them with a smile while Alexie greeted her with food. "Oh, what is this. Biscuits and chocolate?"
"Ever had buttermilk honey biscuits and chocolate together?" The pink party pony looked like she was about to readily commit a sugary sin as Alexie removed a few biscuits from their wrapping and crumbled them with what was left of the chocolate gravy before giving them a soft mix. Pinkie took a bite and her hair bounced like a sugar happy mouse before settling down and she looked so pleased before taking herself to a separate room and came back seemingly refreshed.
Pinkie had composed herself to her usual mood which left the human and changeling playfully wondering if she sneaked away to get out the moan she suppressed. "That was so good. How did you make it?" She looked at Alexie and the changeling smirked before pointing to Allen and Pinkie gasped. "You made this?!" Everyone shushed her and she blushed at her outburst. "Sorry." She looked back at the couple and seated them before slowly enjoying the dessert for breakfast.
"To put simply, I used milk and unsalted butter to melt the kernels with their own core ingredients. Melted them to a smooth syrup and added salt, cinnamon, cloves and coffee to make the syrup as rich as I could manage without over powering the honey." Pinkie was savoring the bowl of fluffy goodness as his described creation was a powerful combo or rich chocolate, sweet honey and the earthiness of the two made a pleasant tone of hidden delight that made Pinkie drool for more. The party mare presented her bowl and Allen answered two things. "You cleaned your bowl." He smiled that someone else liked his food. "If you're asking for more, that was the last of the syrup that could be used." The mare was sad as she looked ready to cry. "I'll show you the process one day but you have to promise not to pig out on this stuff." She smiled brightly and nodded quickly.
"Hate to drop and run Pinkie, but I'm showing Allen around and we have some other leftovers we'd like to drop off." Before the pink pony could take the other food, two aura's from the couple were holding her back. "Pinkie, no." Alexie was firm and scared as she held the food away and calmed down once Pinkie calmed down. "And I know you still want to throw the party." She nodded vigorously with his childish grin. "Okay. Tonight." With an 'Okie Dokie' of her approval, she went back to the kitchen.
The two left the shop and Alexie thought of one family who might like the eggs. "Let's go see Applejack. She's hard working on her farm and she might like the breakfast you made." He gestured out, requesting her to lead the way. So she walk a little ways forth and Allen was behind her as he just admired the town. Ponies were still eyeing him in a way the couple didn't like but he knows how to keep them at bay.
They made it to the apple farm in town and he could not believe the size of the ranch. By his best guess, there was 120 acres at most. The princess tapped her husbands nose and he snapped out of it before following again. "You like this world so far?"
He nodded with a smile, channeling a soft green as the wind blew their hair gently. "My training means something here, and we can be together without having to wait for the afterlife. And once my end hits, we're still together." He then looked crest fallen and Alexie looked concerned. "But... for all the good I have I... I also had my home. It wasn't much, but it meant something. It was a place I could call mine." He cast his gaze back over the town. "But what here can a call mine when it's not my world?"
Alexie set the food down and hugged her husband closely. "Things happen in a way that is vaguely understood. You'll find your own honest answer for this situation. It's how you cope, how you live." Allen smiled as he turned in his wife's arms and returned the hug, the smell of apples mixing with the jasmine shampoo in her hair as it calmed him. That's when he noticed someone watching and Alexie called it first. "Applebloom?" She caught the filly like a mom who knows everything.
The yellow farm filly jumped a little before raising her head. She was dress in her red shirt and blue jean shorts from the mild heat. "I saw you and this... um..."
"Monk." Allen didn't want to explain species so he chose his pass time.
"Thank you. I saw you and the monk from the farm and wanted to know what was up." She blushed a little from how close they were hugging each other, reminding her of some books she read in her pass time as her young mind trailed the gutter on occasion. Alexie giggled and pat the filly on the head, which calmed her some as the princess picked up the left over breakfast in the tin. "What's that?"
Allen pipped up casually. "Leftovers from breakfast." Alexie took the lead again and up to the house before knocking on the door. She was greeted by and older mare with pale green skin.
The mare got a good look and figured it was someone her granddaughter, Applejack mentioned. "Are you someone I know?"
Alexie shook her head. "Not likely, but I am here to offer some leftovers from this morning. My husband made a bit much." The old mare smiled at her open generosity and allowed her in and Allen walked up, still talking with Applebloom, who had asked a question concerning how he used magic without a horn.
"Now don't go pestering our guests Applebloom." The old mare half-barked, remembering this was a child, but she was the closest thing to a mom.
"It's fine ma'am. Children are curious and my talents would raise a few eyebrows anyway." Allen said being polite and informative. Once the tin was on the table Alexie nodded and Allen raised his hand while aiming his thoughts. His fingers were glowing a soft red and the tin was surrounded with a wave of heat. Alexie had poured a little water in the pan to hydrate the eggs and Allen applied a heat wave instead of direct fire. Applebloom could feel the contained climate and Alexie opened some windows to circulate air and prevent heat stroke.
Applejack and Big Mac came back from the fields and Allen lowered his hand, the heat fading after a few minutes of cooking. Applejack spoke up first about the guests. "Could someone explain why you two are here?"
Alexie removed the wrap covering the tin and the smell of fresh breakfast rushed out. "Allen made a bit too much so we're giving out the leftovers where we can." Applejack got a fork and tasted the meal and it was good. The eggs were tender, the veggies were sweet and she could taste the salt and pepper in the eggs. "Is it good?"
Applejack set the fork down, grabbed some plates, extra forks and a spoon for the dish. "Dig in everypony." The whole family got what they could eat and cleaned out the tin entirely. Alexie collected it and tossed it in the trash after cleaning it out and crunching it up as much as she could. The Apples were enjoying the meal like a family of kids and savored every bite. "Thank you kindly for the grub." The couple nodded and Allen piped in.
"I wanted to do something nice for everyone, and the kindest goes to my wife." They smiled and parted their goodbyes to the Apple family. They left the farm and were greated by Rainbow halfway off the orchard. She was brazen as before though Allen did what he could to contain his anger. Alex was able to hash things over though Rainbow gave the watchman gesture and flew off.
The two made it home and Allen spent his time trying to project video memory, to his embarrassment and Alexie's amusement. After a few minutes it worked, to well and Alexie laughed again. At the end of the day, Allen got the approval to make his home on the purchased land and the couple turned in.
