ISSUE #6 CHAPTER 3: A little disagreement

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

Flash knocked on the door of the Rainboom's place. Standing there, waiting for someone to answer the door.

Soon, Sunset opened the door and smiled, "Well it's about time you showed up."

Flash chuckled, "Hey, you know traffic can be a pain in the butt sometimes."

She rolled her eyes and let Flash in. Closing the door behind her, she and Flash started for the sofa. "Sooo… School Orientation is coming up."

Flash nodded his head, "Yeah. What about it?"

"Well...okay this might sound odd but..... do you think maybe I could spend the night at your place the day before of the orientation?"

Flash's eyes widened, he arched an eyebrow, "Wow, that's a first."

She giggled, "Well you know, you live way closer to ESU than we do. Plus it gives me excuse to have more boyfriend time." The two both plopped down on the couch, Flash putting his arm around Sunset.

"Well I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to that idea." Flash shrugged.

"So I'll take that as a yes." She leaned closer towards him.

Rarity and Applejack walked into the Livingroom. Flash greeted them upon their entrance, "Hey guys." He nodded.

"Mornin' Flash." said Applejack, "When'd you get here?"

"About a minute ago." He looked at the clock.

"Well Flash, what brings you to our lovely home?" asked Rarity, "I mean were about to make breakfast, if you'd like we can serve you too."

Flash chuckled and shot his hands up, "Oh it's fine! I just came by to hang with Sunset and besides I already ate breakfast."

Sunset rolled her eyes and smugly crossed her arms, "He still aims to be humble." she chuckled, "It's kinda cute, but I think he should take up an offer every once in a while."

Flash shrugged, "What? My parents kinda raised me that way."

"Ugh, I know what you mean Sunset dear!" said Rarity, "Applejack more or less does the same thing."

"HEY!" Applejack yelled. She folded her arms and turned away from Rarity for a moment, "I was just raised to be a hard worker. Ma whole family has just always been like that."

Rarity rolled her eyes and placed her hand on Applejack's shoulder, "Look Flash, The point is Sunset is right. Taking up a handsome offer every now and then wont kill you."

"Well I mean, I guess." Flash shrugged.

Sunset smiled, "Well now that that's all taken care of. Why don't we watch some TV." She reached for the remote and pointed it at the television. She clicked the power button and in an instant, the television screen turned on.

The first channel to come on was the Canterlot news channel. It was showing Spider-Man, but it wasn't exactly showing his best moment in public. Instead it was him picking up a random civilian and yelling at him. Flash's eyes narrowed on the screen, his lip beginning to curl.

"Great Just what I need. A media corporation criticizing me because I do what the police can't. Man at least Tokyo enjoyed Spider-Man's hospitality. Not even my own home-town!"

An Anchor lady began to commentate on the video as it kept looping over and over again. "So this video has been trending on social media over the last few days. This video depicts to what is now been confirmed as the black suited Spider-Man threatening a civilian in plain sight while fighting The Shocker. Shortly after the video was released, a man was found in critical condition at the Bell Tower. He has still not been identified yet but what the police were able to find out was he had direct involvement with the hostage situation at Fisk Towers and the building fire not too long after. Now why are we mentioning this? It was because when the body was found, Spider-Man had left the scene moments earlier. Now the police force have released a statement about the ongoing situation. They said to be vigilant if Spider-Man is nearby. They have caught him in a bunch of bad situations and warn civilians if he is spotted and nearby, do not approach him and immediately call 911 or crime stoppers. But even though they have released a statement about Spider-Man, they need more evidence before they can put him under arrest. Meanwhile, the city is left shocked by the video. CTV news's Dev Starstrom got some reactions from the some civilians, take a look."

Flash curl disappeared and instead he found himself gritting his teeth. Everything he had just heard made him seem like a bad guy, "Damn News Outlets! I didn't even threaten him I was telling him about why J.Jonah Jameson was a scumbag."

The screen transitioned from a news anchor to footage of civilians and their take on the video. The first was a man who appeared to be in in early 20s wearing a red hoodie. "Personally, I'm Shocked. I thought Spidey was a genuine hero. Some guy we could look up to. But I guess you never know someone from just the outside."

The screen transitioned again. This time showing an eight-year old. "Spider-Man is not bad. He's just getting mad at someone. I know he's good!"

The screen transitioned one last time, this time showing a woman in a her mid 30's, "I mean, we can't say this is a surprise. Spider-Man has always been something of a suspicious person. There've been theories for months that he's been personally orchestrating everything himself in order to get some publicity and be looked upon greatly."

That last one really stuck with Flash. Not because of how infuriated it made him, but because of how absurd it was. But he couldn't keep his words to himself, this time he blabbered them out. "WHAT?!"

All four girls were shocked by the sudden outburst and all looked at Flash. This prompted Sunset to speak up, "W-What is it?"

Flash's eyes widened, he had realized he just screamed out of nowhere. He rebounded himself quickly and continued, "It's just.... how can she say all of that?" He asked, "How? After everything he's done for this city how can she act like he's always been a 'suspicious person' with the sole purpose of getting publicity and a good rep. It's completely unfair!"

The four were silent. They listened to everything Flash had just said. But... unfourtanetley they weren't on the same boat as he was.

"Uhh…. Flash? With all due respect....." Sunset trailed off, she didn't even know how she could word it, "Look I think everyone is right to think Spider-Man is not exactly a hero."

"WHAT?!" Flash screamed. It was outrageous, he wish it weren't true but his ears were not deceiving him. His own girlfriend was on the Anti-Spider-Man bandwagon. "B-But I thought you all liked Spider-Man?"

Rarity chimed in, "Well, darling. There's just too much overwhelming evidence against him. Not only that but it's quite odd that every major threat to the city has always been self-centered on Spider-Man. I-I guess what people are saying about him may be true."

Flash's shoulders dropped, making his arm drop a little lower on Sunset's shoulder. "This can't be for real. Them too!?"

Applejack chimed in as well. "Ah mean, he has acted a bit.....like an outlaw recently'. Threatenin' a guy and he might be a full on murdering outlaw."

Flash could feel his blood boiling. He knew Spider-Man's identity was a secret he had to keep. But he wasn't going to sit there and hear them critic Spider-Man. He couldn't care less about whether or not they knew it from his side, in fact he didn't care about reasoning with them. "DO YOU ALL HEAR YOURSELVES!?" He rose to his feet and clenched his fists. "How can all of you say that about him when he's nearly DIED for this city!"

Sunset was startled by Flash's sudden outburst, it was unlike him to explode. Meanwhile the newly engaged saw that outburst as somewhat of a childish move and so they clapped back.

"Flash I must say you are acting rather childish right now!" Rarity scolded, "Just because he's your money maker does not mean he's justified to be a good person."

"And if your so opposed to that there idea! Well then you can just leave!" said Applejack.

Sunset's eyes widened. That would be the last thing she'd want right now. If she's learned anything it was that there was always time to work things out and patch up rough edges. She was about to bud in and maybe end the squabble. But she was too late.

Flash started for the door. He didn't say a word, Rarity and Applejack both glared at him as he walked out. Sunset felt frozen, she was speechless as well. The door opened and then closed as Flash exited the apartment room.

Rarity turned to Sunset, shooting her an angry look, "That Boy is not allowed back until he apologizes. Do you understand Sunset! You may tolerate his behaviour and but we don't!"

Sunset stayed silent for a moment. For the first time she could care less right now about what Rarity has to say, she was more worried about what had gotten into Flash. Her eyes narrowed and she turned to Rarity, "Something's wrong."

Applejack arched an eyebrow, "Come again?"

"Guys something is wrong and I can just smell it!" said Sunset, "I know Flash. He's most nicest guy I've met! he's never gotten this worked up like that before. Not unless something bad has happened."

Rarity let out a sigh, "Sunset dear, people have tendencies to change overtime."

"Guys I know something has to be wrong." said Sunset, "The only times he's ever done something remotely like that was around the time his dad died and when we broke up for the first time. You guys were both there."

Applejack rolled her eyes, "Well how can we be so sure Sunset? People can get a bit mad over arguments but what he did was being a plain bitch."

Sunset was no way in hell going to 'tolerate that type of behaviour', especially trash talking Flash right in front of her. "So you're being better by saying that about him behind his back?"

Applejack's eyes widened. She let those words sink in and realized she was right. Her shoulder's dropped, her angered expression was now a guilty one, "Gee Sunset, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to insult him like that I was just--"

"It's fine." Sunset pinched the bridges of her nose, "I'm just so worried about him right now that I can't even think right."

Rarity pouted, now she was beginning to feel the guilt bug bite her. Maybe it was just her fiancée's influence or maybe she realized that she might've been a bit harsh to call him childish. "I'm sorry too." she looked at Sunset, "Maybe I was just being over dramatic. I just never expect that from him."

"It's alright Rarity." said Sunset, " I just don't know what to do right now."
