Happy Birthday Gallus
A Surprise for a Griffon
Load Full StoryPinkie Pie loaded up her party cannon before firing it into the air. There was a large party going on at the school. “Is this what parties are like in Ponyville?” Kelpie the hippogriff asked.
“Usually they’re only like this with Professor Pie around,” Sandbar answered.
“Hey, guys,” Silverstream cried. “We just some more cupcakes and ice cream.”
“Sweet,” both boys said.
“Whos party even is this?” Emerald asked Smolder.
“I think it’s supposed to be Headmare Starlight,” Smolder replied.
“If this is what the Headmare and teachers get, I wanna see what she does for us.”
“You’ll have to wait,” Pinkie explained. “Not until I know your birthday.” She flew after blasting away herself out of her party cannon.
Smolder just chuckled as she walked over to her friends. “I missed these kinds of parties,” she admitted.
“Yeah,” Ocellus agreed. “It was too quiet at the hive.”
“I can think of places quieter than that,” Gallus mumbled.
“What was that?” Silverstream asked talking through a mouth full of ice cream.
The griffon sighed. “Nothing.”
“What kind of parties do you guys have at your homes?” Sandbar asked.
“Yaks have festival called Yickslurbertfest,” Yona answered. “Yaks make pastries and listen to yak tunes and...”
“Yaks smash?” Smolder finished. Yona just frowned as she looked at her friend.
“We have certain festivals in Seaquestria and Mount Aris,” Silverstream said. “You should really see the... Gah. Brain freeze.”
“You really should be careful of those,” Ocellus stated.
“Noted.”
“Ponies breaking out pinata,” a yak cried.
“Yona wanna smash!” Yona cried. Yona was joined by some other students as Pinkie hung up the pinata.
“Let the birthday mare go first,” she said. She wrapped a blindfold over Starlight’s eyes and gave her a bat. The headmare gave a few swings until she gave up.
“Who else wants to try?” Starlight asked. Several students raised their appendages until she picked Kelpie. She gave him the bat and blindfold and helped guided him. Kelpie gently tapped the pinata then smacked it as hard as he could. It burst open to let out tons of sweets.
The hippogriff lifted his blindfold to see his prizes. “Alright, taffy,” he cheered. He, as well as many other students, rushed to pick up some of the prizes.
“Yona got caramel!” Yona cheered.
“Pinkie, you really outdid yourself,” Starlight said.
“Oh, this is normal for me,” Pinkie replied. The pink pony stood back and admired her work.
Once the party ended, the students had calmed down and went off to do their own thing. “Ugh,” Silverstream groaned, “I had too many sweats.”
“I’m sure you’ll feel better in the morning,” Ocellus said. “You really need to control your sweet tooth.”
“Yeah, speaking of teeth, I keep swearing that you have some,” Smolder said. “They just keep disappearing.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
“They have teeth for a minute and then they just don’t. It drives me insane.”
“Maybe you’re just seeing things,” Sandbar said.
“Yak enjoyed party,” Yona spoke.
“Yeah,” Silverstream agreed. “Gallus, what do you think?” The griffon didn’t reply, he just slowly walked into his room.
“Gallus, what’s wrong?” Sandbar asked. He walked in after his friend. “Didn’t you enjoy the party?”
“Yeah,” Gallus said deadpanned, “What a blast.”
“It doesn’t sound like you enjoyed it,” Ocellus commented. “What’s the matter?”
“Do you guys have any memories of your birthdays?”
“Of course,” Silverstream said. “Mine’s during the summer, so it’s not at school.”
“Why friend not tell us?”
“It was a surprise party, those are the best kinds.”
“Changelings don’t really remember their birthdates,” Ocellus explained, “So, we all have one big birthday.”
“Some dragons do that too,” Smolder commented. “We do have our own hatch days, but a lot of us hatch on the same day.”
“At least you know the dates,” Gallus sighed.
“What friend mean?” Yona asked.
“I don’t even know when I was born.”
“But isn’t Grampa Gruff your guardian?” Ocellus asked.
“Yeah, but he doesn't know or care. Griffonstone is one of the worst places to live in, especially if you’re orphan. They don’t care about your problems or your dreams.”
“What about the griffons that are here at the school?” Sandbar asked.
“They’re more naive. The adults aren’t going to change.”
“Gallus, come on,” Silverstream said. “Cheer up. You...”
“Silver. I want to be alone.” Gallus’s friends didn’t say anything else, they just quietly left the room to give him some privacy.
“Yona feel sorry for Gallus,” the yak spoke.
“Me too,” Ocellus said.
“It’s not fair,” Silverstream said. “Everyone deserves a birthday.”
“Everyone who isn’t evil,” Smolder said under her breath.
“Maybe we could do something,” Sandbar said. “Silver’s right. Gallus deserves a birthday. They’re a time to celebrate.”
“Where would friends even have party?” Yona asked.
“Our treehouse,” Ocellus suggested.
“Oh, this is going to be fun,” Silverstream cooed. “Let’s make it a surprise party. Those are some of the best.”
“If we’re going to do this, we’ll need a plan.”
“We can plan it in our,” Smolder said. “Follow me.”
Once they met up in the dragon and hippogriff’s room, they made a list of what they needed. “Okay,” Ocellus said, “So, we have our list. Now we just need to know what we need to do.”
“Yona and Smolder can make cake and cupcakes,” Yona said.
“And I can decorate the treehouse,” Silverstream spoke.
“I can help with that,” Ocellus said. “We’ll be sure to set out some chips and other snacks.”
“What can I do?” Sandbar asked.
“You have to make sure Gallus doesn’t find out about the party.”
“Wait, what?”
“If he just comes to the treehouse, the surprise will be ruined,” Silverstream explained.
“Well, that’s true.”
“Once everything is ready, we’ll come looking for you,” Smolder said.
“So, this friends’ plan?” Yona asked.
“Yes,” Ocellus said. “Now, we should get started tomorrow. Just in case, no one tell any creature about this.”
“Not even pink pony?”
“Yeah, she seems to be the best pony to help us with this,” Smolder added.
“Okay, maybe her,” Ocellus said, “But no else.”
“Alright,” Sandbar said. “See you girls in the morning.” In the dorm room, Gallus was still sulking. He didn’t even look at Sandbar as he walked in. “Any plans for tomorrow?”
“Not really,” the griffon replied.
“I’m sure we can think of something. I’m just trying to cheer you up.”
“That’s nice, bud. Just let me sleep.”
“Can do.” The colt climbed up into his bed and got comfy and thought to himself. ”You’ll be in for a treat tomorrow.”
When the sun shined over Ponyville, Yona slept soundly in her bed until she was woken up by her roommate. “Come on, Yona,” Ocellus said. “We have to get going.”
“It too early,” the yak grumbled. “Breakfast isn’t served yet.”
“I’ve got some breakfast bars.” She handed one of the bars to the yak.
“When did friend get these?”
“I bought these in case I got into late-night studying. Let’s go and get Smolder and Silverstream.” The two left their room and headed towards their friends to get to work.
As for the boys, Gallus wasn’t wanting to get up. Sandbar took note of this and did his best to get his friend out of bed. “We’re going to miss breakfast,” the colt explained
“I’m not hungry,” the griffon groaned. He pulled the covers over his head.
“You can’t stay here all day.” There was only a groan as a response. “Do you want to go hungry?”
“Just give me a minute.” Sandbar sat down as he waited for his friend to get up. After a few minutes, Gallus uncovered himself, wiped his eyes, and flew down the hall. In the mess hall, they couldn’t find the girls. “Where are they?”
“Maybe they slept in after the party.”
“Wouldn’t blame them. They managed to enjoy it.” The glum griffon got some toast and cereal and some OJ. “When is this school going to serve meat?”
“Meat?”
“Yeah, a young griff needs it to be strong enough to make to their teen years.” He carried his tray over to the table where he, Sandbar, and the girls would usually sit.
“I can only stall for so long,” Sandbar thought. ”Come on, girls.”
Elsewhere, the girls made their way to Sugarcube Corner, which was just opening. “Good morning,” Mrs. Cake said. “What brings you here so early?”
“We’re planning a surprise party for our friend Gallus,” Ocellus answered. “Is Professor Pie here?”
“Well, yes, but she’s going to be a little busy today. We have a big order meant to go out by tonight.”
“Couldn’t we just see her?” Smolder asked. “We just need decorations and cupcakes.”
“And big cake,” Yona added.
“That too.”
“She’s in the kitchen,” Mrs. Cake answered. The students walked towards that area to find the party pony hard at work getting some ingredients set out.
“Hey girls,” Pinkie said. “I didn’t know you wanted extra credit.”
“No, we’re just trying to throw a party for Gallus,” Ocellus informed.
“Oh, is that today?”
“Kind of,” Silverstream said. “He said he doesn’t know when his birthday is.”
“Aw, that’s sad. You’re good friends for doing this. I’m busy right now.”
“We know,” Smolder said. “Just give us some decorations and ingredients for a cake.”
“Okie Dokie lokie. Just good to my room and press down on the ice cream cone.” Silverstream and Ocellus looked at each other with confusion but walked upstairs anyway. “Now, which recipe would you like?”
“What did she mean by ice cream cone?” Ocellus asked.
“I don’t know,” Silverstream replied. The changeling and hippogriff walked into their professor’s bedroom and saw a giant ice cream cone at the bottom of the stairs.
“Oh, I thought she meant a real one.” The changeling pressed down on the faux treat and a trap door opened and Silverstream nearly fell in. The two made their way down the slide and found the party planning cave.
“Wow,” the hippogriff gasped. “She has all this stuff?”
“It answers how she plans all the parties, and where she keeps her supplies. How could she afford all of this?”
“Don’t know. Let’s just get what we need.” Ocellus pulled out her list and helped her friend pick out the items they needed.
Back in the kitchen, Yona and Smolder had settled on three recipes. Chocolate chip cookie, red velvet cupcakes, a chocolate mousse cake. “You sure you want to cook these?” Pinkie asked. “Some of them are pretty fancy.”
“Gallus deserves best birthday,” Yona said.
“If you say so. I’m going to get you a cart ready to carry all these ingredients.” Pinkie carried all the ingredients out of the kitchen and outside.
“Okay, so we’ll cook these at school,” Smolder said. “I’ll make the cupcakes and cookies, you take care of the big cake.”
“Yona on it. Where other friends?” They went to check Pinkie’s room and could see the opened trap door. They also saw Silverstream and Ocellus carrying out streamers, balloons, and many other supplies.
“There’s an entire cave down there,” Silverstream said.
“Seriously?” Smolder questioned. She flew down for a bit and came back up in surprise. “Wow, she’s serious.”
“Agreed,” Ocellus said. “I think we have all the decorations we need.”
“Yona and Smolder have needed ingredients,” Yona said.
“Then let’s go,” Silverstream cried. She picked up some supplies, as did her friends, and found Pinkie loading up one of the carts.
“Just put the part supplies in the other one.” The students did so. Once they were all loaded, Ocellus turned herself into a yak, she and Yona hooked up to their trailers, and they were off.
“Gallus is going to love this,” Silverstream cooed.
“Just hope Sandbar can keep him distracted.”
“We’ll fly ahead to give him a warning,” Smolder said. She and the hippogriff flew off to get to the school first.
Gallus and Sandbar were finishing their morning routine. Once they did that, the griffon made his way to the lounge to just lie down on the couch. “Let’s go have some fun, Gallus,” the pony said.
“I’m not in the mood,” the griffon groaned.
“Thus, you’re going to spend your weekend just sulking?”
“Just leave me alone.” Sandbar was about to say something else until he felt a pebble hit him.
“Psst,” whispered a voice. The colt looked over to see a certain hippogriff and dragoness. While Gallus wasn’t looking, he walked towards them.
“You need to get Gallus out of the school,” Smolder whispered.
“I’m trying. He’s just wanting to sulk.”
“Have him do it somewhere else.”
“Can’t you convince him?”
“He’ll figure out something’s up. Just... Take him to the arcade or something.”
“Okay, I’ll try. Just keep the others out of sight.” Sandbar walked back to his glum friend.
“You wanna head to the arcade?” he asked. “I hear there’s a new machine there.”
“Sure,” Gallus replied disinterestedly. “If it’ll make you stop pestering me.” The boys started walking towards the exit, which notified for Silverstream and Smolder to get out of the way. “I just wished I knew where the girls went.”
“Yeah, weird. You think we would tell us where they were.” The boys walked away from the school as Yona and Ocellus hid behind the nearby castle.
“Castle actually come in handing,” Yona commented.
“Just get inside the school,” Ocellus said. “Sandbar can’t keep him distracted forever.” Yona did so, making a beeline for Pinkie’s classroom. The cart took a bit of damage, and so did the wall, but the yak made it.
“You could’ve made a bigger mess?” Smolder asked.
“Yona had to be quick.”
“I could see that.”
“You girls have fun baking,” Silverstream said, “I’m going to catch up with Ocellus.” She flew the exit as the yak and dragoness unloaded the ingredients.
Ocellus was just entering the forest as the hippogriff caught up. “Oh, there you are,” the faux yak said. With the two together, they managed to get the treehouse. With that, they started unloading the supplies. Ocellus changed into her base form as some upbeat music began to play.
Let's go, let's make a start
We have to give all of our heart
This party will be so bright
But let's make sure we do it right
Every party's gotta have fun games
Not to mention streamers and balloons, it's just not the same
Pin the tail on the donkey just a classic
And a pinata filled with candy, that's just fantastic!
We still need a banner with Gallus's name on it
Every detail must be perfect every little bit
We'll need some snacks to chow down on
Maybe pretzels and ice cream, but we're far from done!
This party's going to be the best it's for our friend
We won't rest, until the end!
Back at the school, Smolder and Yona were at two different stoves. The yak had the recipe for the chocolate mousse cake while the dragoness got to work on the cupcakes and cookies.
Friend deserves the best party just because
Friends make him best cake there was
Cakes come in many shapes and sizes
So let's save our friend some surprises.
Cake needs some yeast and a cup of flour
Also some sugar so it’s not so sour
Frosting is so sweet and creaming
It’s a finishing touch that’s just so dreaming
Cupcakes and cookie are both great treats
I might like gemstone but these can’t be beat
I can’t wait to bite into these
Though, I wish I could make these with more ease
Making all of this is such a chore
But our friend’s who they're for!
The treehouse was now nicely decorated, Silverstream and Ocellus were admiring their work so far.
This just... Wow
Almost finished now
Look at what we’ve done
I can’t wait to have so much fun
Yona and Smolder had finished pouring the batter into different pans. Once they did that, they placed them into different ovens.
Gallus going to love friends’ work
I swear I was going to go beserk
Now friends’ just wait for timer chime
Finally, some free time
Parties are for those are close to you
It can’t be far from true
They help give your spirits a lift
Wait... We forgot a gift!
The music stopped as the changeling and hippogriff almost panicked. “How could we forget a gift?” Silverstream questioned. “If any creature deserves a birthday present, it’s Gallus.”
“Okay, let’s just stay calm,” Ocellus spoke. “I’ll stay here and finish up. You get some bits and try and find him a present. You can borrow some of mine if you have to.” Silverstream nodded and flew away as fast as she could.
The yak and dragoness were having similar reactions. “Yona bad friend,” the yak sighed. “Friends couldn’t have forgotten gift.”
“Just... Get some cash and go shopping,” Smolder said quickly.
“For gift?”
“Of course. Go! Now!” Yona raced out of the classroom and to her dorm. Silverstream was flying in from the opposite direction. Because of her speed and panic, Yona tripped and tumbled towards her unlucky friend. They crashed into each other, with the yak landing on top of the griff.
“You too?” the hippogriff groaned.
“Uh-huh,” the yak sighed. They both stood up and got some bits from their rooms.
“Okay, I have twenty bits. You?”
“Yak only have nine.”
“Let’s hope he doesn’t mind the quality of his gift.” The two left the school and headed into town.
At the arcade, Sandbar was playing Prance Prance Revolution. “Almost there,” he panted. He wasn’t doing all that good, he was missing a couple of the steps, but he kept going until the song ended. Once that happened, Sandbar lied down to catch his breath. “Yona makes... That look... So easy.”
He walked over towards Gallus, who was just sitting by the prize counter. “Are you pick anything?” the pony behind the counter asked.
“Just browsing,” Gallus replied glumly.
“I’ve got a couple of tickets,” Sandbar said placing the said items on the counter. “I’ll just take that Zap figurine.” The pony handed the colt the Power Pony figurine.
“How do you find those ponies interesting?” Gallus questioned.
“They’re pretty interesting characters to read about. Cheer up, will you.” The griffon just groaned as he walked towards the exit. Sandbar followed his friend and managed to catch up with him. “You can’t keep your emotions bottled up.”
“I’m not going to talk to Counselor Trixie.”
“I’m not saying you go do that. I’m your friend, just talk to me.”
Gallus let out a frustrated sigh. “I can’t stop thinking about my parents. Since Grandpa Gruff’s my caretaker, I keep wondering if they even wanted me. It wouldn’t surprise me how griffons act.”
“Well... They... No creature’s that... They have to...” Sandbar was at a loss for words. “Maybe...”
“You know nothing about them. Maybe they were loving, they were probably like all the others.”
“If it wasn’t for Gran...”
“Gilda and Gabby are the reason I came here. Grandpa Gruff doesn’t care about anything other than money.” The griffon let out a sniff as he wiped his eye. “Look, what else can we do?”
“I think we could go...” Sandbar paused when he saw Silverstream and Yona walking around. “What are they doing here?” he gasped under his breath. “Hang on a minute, Gallus.” The colt ran off towards the girls, leaving a glum griffon behind.
“Maybe a book,” Silverstream suggested.
“Gallus not like books,” Yona reminded. Then, they saw Sandbar running towards them.
“What are you doing here?” he questioned.
“We forgot to give Gallus a present,” the hippogriff replied.
“Why didn’t you get one earlier?”
“We were too busy to get things set up and forgot,” Silverstream said. She gasped when she saw her friend in the distance. She pulled Yona behind the corner to hide. “What do we do? He’s right there.”
“I’ll take him the other way. You head to the shops that way.” They nodded and the colt walked towards the glum griffon. “Where do you wanna go?”
“I just wanna head back to the school,” Gallus replied.
“Alright, let’s go. Maybe we can get you a book to read.”
“Did you hear what they’re saying?” Silverstream asked.
“Yona only heard mumbles,” Yona replied. “Friends need to get gift now.” They ran off in order to find their friend a present.
Back at the school, Smolder took the pastries out of the oven as soon as she heard the timer go off. “Finally,” she said. She placed them out the cool as a blue drake poked his head into the room.
“What’s cooking?” he asked.
“Hey, Flare. Look, I’m just making something for my friend. Don’t spill it.”
“I can’t help it. That smells good. Mind if I taste test...”
“Yes. I would.”
“I dunno, maybe your friends could try it.”
“What do you mean?”
“They’re coming back.” Looking out the window, Smolder could see the boys returning to the school. “I told him to keep him away from here. Flare, I need you for something.”
Outside, Sandbar started remembering something. “Ugh, Gall...” he said.
“Hang on, do you smell something?” Gallus interrupted.
“Y... Yeah.” Even though he tried to convince him otherwise, Sandbar couldn’t stop his friend from getting closer to the smell. They opened to the classroom door and saw the two dragons, and the only thing on the desks was a cookbook and some empty trays.
“And now we play the waiting game,” Smolder said. “Oh, guys, how are you doing? I’m just giving Flare some cooking tips. He said he had an interest.”
“I really do,” the drake agreed.
“So, that’s what that smell is?” Gallus asked.
“Yeah, I tried teaching him to make some cookies earlier. They’re cooking as we speak.”
“Okay then.” Gallus left the room as his friends looked at each other.
“He bought it.” Smolder wiped her brow in relief.
“I’ll keep trying to stall him,” Sandbar said. He quickly ran off.
“Try doing a better job.” Smolder sighed as she took the desserts out of hiding. “Thanks for the help, Flare. Here, you can as these as a thanks.” She handed the drake some of the cookies.
“Sweet,” Flare said. “Glad I could help.” He walked away as the dragoness took out the frosting she prepared earlier.
“Let’s hope this stuff’s good.”
At the gift shop, Silverstream and Yona kept looking around something that would make a good present. “Maybe friends get Gallus stuffed animal,” Yona suggested.
“I don’t think so,” Silverstream replied. “He doesn’t seem to have an interest in those.”
“Yona think Gallus like music.”
“Really? Since when.”
“Since head pony tried hiring new ponies.”
“I didn’t know that. Look, there are some records.” The flew up to the set of records but the yak had to point something out.
“Do friends have record player?”
“...I don’t think so.” The hippogriff flew to the counter. “Excuse me. Do you have any record players?”
“We have this one,” the stallion said. He showed a record player, which made Silverstream happy. “This’ll be twenty-five bits.”
“Um... Do you have any other players that are cheaper?”
“This is the cheapest one that still works.” The hippogriff sighed and handed the number of bits it cost. Now she was down to only four bits.
“What can I buy with this?” She walked back to Yona. Most of the records cost at least five bits. “Aw, man.”
“How many bits friend have left?” The yak was shown the remaining currency they had. They took a look at the few records that they could afford, though they weren’t very good. “Hope Gallus doesn’t mind quality.”
“Maybe we can find a bit on the ground somewhere.” The hippogriff slouched down to see if she could find one more bit. She decided to check outside to see if she could find one. Amazingly, she could see one lying on the ground and raced to grab it. “Yes! Lucky us.” She flew back in and took a look at some of the records.
“Now friends can buy record.” After a while, they got one they thought their friend would like.
Speaking of their friend, Gallus was sitting at one of the tables with his head lying on it. “What’s with him today?” Kelpie asked.
“He’s just a little upset,” Sandbar said. He walked over to his friend with a couple of books. “Check it out. We’ve got some new books. I think this one will make you laugh.” Just as he handed one of the books to him, the griffon just swatted them away. “Gallus, you’re making this harder than it needs to be.”
“I’m not in the mood,” he mumbled.
“I’m trying to cheer you up.”
“Yeah, give him a chance,” Kelpie spoke.
“Stay out of this,” Gallus ordered. The hippogriff was a bit startled by his response. He decided to just leave the griffon and pony by themselves.
“Gallus, I know you’re upset that you don’t know anything about your parents,” Sandbar said. “Honestly, if they just decided to leave you to Grandpa Gruff, I don’t think they deserve you.”
“What?”
“Smolder told me about this dragon named Sludge. He tricked Spike into thinking he was his father. He was just awful, even for a dragon. Dragons and griffons are both greedy if Sludge was that stingy, I wouldn’t want to imagine how bad your parents would’ve been.”
Gallus’s talons were starting to scrape the table in frustration. “Sandbar, shut up.”
“Look, I don’t want to make things worse. I’m thinking of what they were like.”
“You know nothing about them.”
“You don’t know anything either.”
“Shut up!” Tears started to build up in Gallus’s eyes. “Why... Would they even love their child?” He wept into his talons. “I just... Thought they would’ve cared.” He continued to cry as Sandbar walked over to place his hoof on his shoulder.
“Gallus, we care about you. You’re our friend. Remember about that watch we found?”
“Hard to forget.”
“You became a guard. Heck, I think you became the chief. You’ve done so many impressive things.”
The griffon thought back to certain another set of friends that were similar to Sandbar and the girls. “You’re right. I’d be in a lot worse conditions if I didn’t have you guys.” He gave a faint smile as he wiped away from of his tears. “Thanks, buddy.” The colt and griffon shared a hug as Ocellus flew into the room.
“There you are,” she said.
“Where were you all day.”
“Just follow me.” The boys walked right behind their friend who led them towards the Everfree Forest.
“We’re just heading to the treehouse,” Gallus said, “What’s the big deal?”
“I have something to show to our teachers,” Ocellus said. She gave a wink to Sandbar and the two quickly ran off.
“Guys? Come on, wait up.” The griffon started flying in order to keep up. When he got to the treehouse, no one was in sight. Deciding to go inside, Gallus opened the door to the treehouse to find his friends wait for him.
“Surprise!” they shouted.
“What... What’s this?”
“It’s a birthday party,” Silverstream explained, “Just for you.”
“M... Me?”
“We were feeling for you not having a birthday,” Sandbar said. “So, we decided why not throw you one today.”
Gallus took a look at the clubhouse. Streamers hanging from the ceiling along with banner reading ”Happy Birthday Gallus”. It looked like it was made at the last seconds, then again his friends only found about his lack of a birthday yesterday. The griffon walked over to a table that had some balloons by its side. There were cookies, red velvet cupcakes, and lastly, a chocolate cake that just like the banner read, ”Happy Birthday Gallus”.
“Does friend like it?” Yona asked. Their friend turned to look at them with tears of joy in his eyes. He hugged his friends tightly.
“Thank you,” he wept.
“It’s no problem,” Ocellus answered.
“We also got you a gift,” Silverstream said. They were released from the hug, she handed the birthday griffon a box. He opened it up to show the record player with a record on it. “Yona said you gained a liking for music. Do you like it?”
Gallus turned the player on and it started playing the record. Its music was upbeat, with a bit of techno in it. It reminded the griffon of Octavia and her friend’s music. “I love this.” The hippogriff and yak high fived each other.
“Let’s some of the cake,” Smolder said. “I wanna see if our work was worth it.” They got some plates to help themselves to get the desserts. Gallus enjoyed the cakes and cookie, but he couldn’t have been happier for the friends he had.
Author's Note
