Suspect: Alcoholic and drug dealer- Wild Fire. Walking back to the dead drop to replace her used items and clothing, Rarity's mind floated to how she ended up murdering these types of people. ~Flashback~ Back in her Junior year of High School, Rarity was cautiously walking through the corridors of Canterlot High towards her final lesson of the day: Chemistry. She nervously walked past groups of teenagers older and younger as she made her way to class when an odd smell drifted past her nose. She couldn't recall what it was at the time, but she could have sworn it smelled like alcohol, or something similar to the beverage. Growling under her breath, Rarity brushed off the strange smell as if it was nothing more than a leaky gas pipe the Maintainance staff were meaning to fix, but never got round to. She walked into class, taking her seat on the opposite side of the room to the door, as if hoping that the smell would go away. Taking out her textbook and Chemistry homework, Rarity tried to focus on what the teacher, Ms Zecora, was talking about. Suddenly, her phone rang loudly. Trying to not gain attention of the other students, Rarity took her phone out of her pocket, thinking her father was calling her. But it wasn't her father, nor was it anyone she recognised. Instead, it was an unknown number. Who in their right mind would call her during class? Reluctantly, Rarity answered the call. "H-Hello?" "Rarity, I presume?" The caller asked. "Yes, Rarity speaking.... Erm....?" Rarity answered. "You may call me Janus." The caller replied, picking up on Rarity's hesitation. "I'm calling o offer you a job." "A job? What kind?" Rarity asked. "Simple. A hitman, or in your case, a hitwoman." Janus told her. "You'll be paid a huge sum of money for killing drug dealers, alcoholics and rapists. Sound good?" "Hmm." Rarity hummed. "I am not the type of person that would kill someone without reason. But I may consider this job." "Great! First job is tonight. The dead drop will be waiting at the Junkyard at 2:15 AM." Janus replied cheerfully before ending the call. Rarity gulped. First job during the night? How will she be able to escape her house without being seen or heard? 2:15 AM came and Rarity was walking towards the Junkyard. She saw a large duffel bag by the entrance and wondered what it contained. With a deep breath, Rarity nervously walked over to the bag and unzipped it. Inside was a tuxedo, burner phone and a silenced .22 pistol. Underneath the tuxedo was a file. Rarity opened it to see her first vicitm. High Tide. A drug dealer, pushing his drugs on young people. He was last seen at Crystal Prep Academy with Sunny Flare and Indigo Zap. 'Indigo Zap and Sunny Flare? What are those two doing with this drug addict?' Rarity thought. Pushing the thought aside and focusing on how she would use this gun to kill High Tide, Rarity began to change into the tuxedo, replacing her usual clothes with the items in the duffel bag. The burner phone suddenly rang. Janus was calling her. "Janus, I read the file on High Tide." Rarity told him. "Good. now, as this your first case, I will given you a sum of $10,000 directly into your bank account after this job is complete. You'll learn more about how to handle a gun as you complete more and more missions. And also, you can not tell anyone about this." Janus replied before the call ended. Rarity took a deep breath and walked away from the dead drop, on her way to her first case. 'But, outside Crystal Prep? Won't everyone know a murder has happened, even hours after the death of an "innocent" person?' She thought as she walked along the path towards Crystal Prep, sticking to the shadows like a ninja. She finally came across a group of people talking. "So, how much we talking, Tide?" One of the voices, which Rarity knew belonged to Sunny Flare, asked. A gruff voice followed, and Rarity thought it was her victim, High Tide, talking. "Around $50. But as we attend the same place, I'll let you girls take two bags for the price of one. $25." He said. "$25? I'm glad to call you a friend, High Tide." This next voice belonged to the abrasive Indigo Zap, who acted exactly like Rainbow Dash. Competitive, argumentative, self-centred and egoistical. Soon, the two ShadowBolts left, leaving Rarity and her victim alone on the street. Rarity was feeling nervous, this was her first target on her new job. It wasn't like the police would show up at that exact moment and arrest her for attempting to murder someone, right? Rarity pushed that though to the back of her mind and picked up her pistol. With a deep breath, Rarity lifted the gun to eye level and pulled the trigger once she thought she was ready. There was a scream, dripping of blood...Then nothing. Rarity looked up and saw her victim was dead. All that was left around the scene was blood and a shell casing. Perfect. Rarity picked up the shell using a glove, and quickly deposited it into the trashcan nearby. No evidence now, unless someone looks in the bin and sees a good casing inside. But, there's no marks, no finger prints, nothing. With a smile, Rarity looked down at the ground and shuffled around the dirt beneath her feet so her tracks would not be seen. She then walked away to the dead drop and changed into her regular clothes. The burner phone suddenly rang. Rarity picked up up and immediately answered it. "Hello?" She asked. "Rarity. Congratulations on your first mission. You did a great job." Janus greeted. "As promised, $10,000 has been put directly into your bank account. But, for the next mission, you must choose a code name, so nobody will recognise you and call you out." Rarity nodded. "I have an idea in mind, Janus." She told him. Janus replied, "go ahead, I'd like to hear it." He said. "My code name will be... Sapphire." Rarity thought for a moment. "Sapphire it is, then. Until next time." Janus spoke before the call ended. Rarity smiled, perhaps this job isn't as bad as she once thought. A good summer of money, and justice for innocent people as they'll be protected from the evil of this world. With the items safely in the dead drop, Rarity returned to her house, just a few short hours before the sun broke free from its prison behind the moon. She sneaked into her bedroom and quickly fell asleep. The next morning, Rarity woke up the her father screaming.. or was that her sister? Shaking her head, she sat up in her bed and slid out from under the covers to get ready for the day ahead. Everyone is bound to be talking about the murder last night, but Rarity didn't mind. She barely took any notice anymore, and brushed it off as if nothing ever happened. She walked downstairs and was met by her mother with a plate of waffles in her hand. "Good morning, Rarity. Here's your breakfast." Her mother smiled. Rarity smiled back and took the plate of warm food, walking towards the dining room to eat. Her father and Sweetie Belle walked in a few moments later. "There's been another murder last night. Im afraid we have a hitman among us." Magnum sighed, shaking his head. "Who was it, father?" Rarity asked, looking up from her plate. "Who was murdered last night?" "Wild Fire. He was killed near Canterlot High." Magnum told Rarity. "But I don't understand, who would do such a thing? Killing innocent people for money?" "Maybe because Wild Fire had done some terrible things and whoever killed him was doing the right thing by protecting the citizens of Canterlot City." Rarity replied. Magnum stared at his daughter. "Wha-? What makes you think that, Rarity?" He asked. "Whoever's killing there types of people seem to only go for the drug dealers, rapists and alcoholics. Most people like that would try to get you young children." Rarity shrugged. Magnum turned to Sweetie Belle then back to Rarity, who had finished her breakfast and was standing up. "Anyway, I will not be home tonight, the Rainbooms and I have a sleepover at Applejack's to attend." She walked into the kitchen an dplaced her used plate and cutlery in the dish washer before heading out the front door with her keytar in hand, safely tucked inside it's case. "Come along, Sweetie Belle. Otherwise we will be late."
