Chapter 1; Somepony Special
It was a windless and cloudless morning as Laser Streak was making a quick lap around Cloudsdale with her friend Thunder Bolt. They were racing as fast as they could, having a lot of fun. About halfway around, they were hit by a blast wave from below, spinning wildly and almost crashing. Laser Streak blinked away the confusion and shouted to Thunder Bolt, "W-What was that?!" He yelled back, "I don't know! Lot of noise, though! Probably Rainbow Dash trying to show off again!"
They abandoned their race, instead gliding down to Light Avenue, trotting alongside each other. "So, where to now, Streak? I don't have to be back for another hour or two," Thunder said with a smile. "I don't know... How about we keep walking, see where the road takes us?" Laser Streak said back, smirking. Her eyes were colder than usual, and she seemed to be zoned out. "Are you feeling okay?" Thunder said warily, worried about his friend. "It's nothing. Don't worry about me, I'm fine." She replied, acid in her tone. She wasn't fine at all; She was jealous of Rainbow Dash getting all of the attention, good and bad. "Right..." Thunder said, lowering his head and continuing to walk.
After half an hour, Laser spoke up. "Let's fly down to Ghastly Gorge, okay?" "But we're not supposed to leave Cloudsdale! What if we get caught?" Thunder squeaked. "We'll be fine. My sister does it all the time!" Laser Streak reasoned, whining a little. "Fine... but if we get in trouble, don't expect me to take the blame!" Thunder Bolt said sternly. "Relax," Laser Streak said. "Next week after our flight test, we can go wherever we want to!" "I guess you're right... I mean, what could one little trip hurt?"
One little trip can hurt a lot...
