Different Then The Rest
Lost and Found
Load Full StoryA purple dragoness with light blue scales and a light blue underbelly laid in a cave, sleeping peacefully. She groggily woke up, rubbing her eyes.
“Huh wha? What time is it?” She asked herself looking around in confusion. She looked under her wing to see The egg was lavender with dark purple spots on it. She picked up the egg, breaking out into a large grin.
“You’ll hatch any day know my baby!” The dragoness exclaimed excitedly. Her tail wagged happily, thumping against the hard ground. She rubbed her face against the egg, wanting it to hatch at that moment. The sound of wings flapping came from the front of the cave, making the dragoness look up. A pale red dragon with purple scales walked into the cave. He stood on all fours but was smaller than the average adult dragon. He gave a small smile at the sight of his wife.
“Hello Druzy, how is the egg doing?” He asked in a cold voice. Druzy held the egg up to her husband, beaming happily.
“It’s going to hatch any day now Prism!” Druzy exclaimed excitedly. Prism took the egg out of her hand and stroked the top of it.
“I’m glad you finally laid an egg.” He said, kissing his wife on the cheek. They had been trying to have an egg for years but for some reason it never worked.
“What do you think our kid still be like?” Druzy asked. Prism thought for a moment, blinking very slowly. He was never the type to show emotion.
“I think our child will be athletic and strong. They won’t take shit from any dragon and is going to be the toughest around.” Prism stated.
“Well I think our kid will be sweet and caring. They’ll be the nicest dragon in the Dragonlands.” Druzy said. She took the egg out of her husbands arms and kissed it.
“Whatever our baby acts like, I’ll love them either way.” She stated, hugging her egg tightly.
“I found a spot with a lot of Sapphires, do you want to go and get some?” Prism asked. Druzy eagerly nodded her head and stood up. She walked over to her hoard and pulled out a long piece of silk fabric. She tied it around her neck and placed the egg inside. She walked over to her husband, looking up at him. She was three inches shorter than him.
“I’m ready!” She exclaimed excitedly. Prism chuckled and gave his wife another kiss on the cheek. They both walked out of the cave to see it was dark outside. The moon was out and millions of stars littered the sky. A cool breeze brushed over their scales.
“I thought it was morning.” Druzy said in confusion. She looked at her husband. “Why were you out? You usually come home as soon as the sun sets.” She asked. Prism blushed a bit, hiding his face behind his wing.
“I know you like sapphires, so I stayed out late looking for some. I wanted to make sure no other dragon got any before you did.” He said, his face turning darker with each word. Druzy let out a gasp and hugged her husband.
“You’re so sweet!” She exclaimed loudly. Prism opened his wing, pushing her back a bit.
“Be quiet, you don’t want to wake up any other dragons.” Prism stated before quickly flying off. Druzy gave a large smile and flew after him, ready to have a wonderful meal.
Druzy and Prism landed in soft grass, which smelled like fresh sapphires. The were on the outskirts of The Dragonlands, which led into a dark forest.
“It’s so pretty out here, why don’t we visit here more often?” Druzy asked.
“So we don’t attract anyone unwanted from the outside.” Prism explained. Druzy sniffed the air and licked her lips.
“The sapphires are right over there.” She said, pointing to a large patch of grass. She placed the egg in Prisms arms and walked over to the spot.
“I’m surprised that sapphires formed so close to the surface. They usually form deeper.” Prism stated. A rustle came from the bush, making Prism’s ears perk up.
“Did you hear that?” He asked. Druzy didn’t seem to hear him as she dug her claws into the dirt. Prism looked around, holding the egg close to him. He stood defensively, ready to attack at any moment. A pair of yellow claws came from the tree above him, pressing his mouth against a cloth.
“Mmph!” Prism shouted, struggling to get his nose from behind the cloth. He started to feel dizzy, wobbling back and forth. He fell on the grass, barely making a noise. Another pair of claws came out from the bush, dragging Prism away.
“These look delicious!” Druzy exclaimed, holding an armful of gems. She turner to look at Prism. To her surprise, he was gone. The egg was gone too.
“Prism?” Druzy asked, looking around. She rolled her eyes.
“Haha very funny, I’m not in the mood for pranks.” She said in an unimpressed tone. When she didn’t get an answer, she let out a nervous laugh. She put the gems on the ground and slowly walked to where Prism was standing. There was a large imprint on the grass that led into the bushes. Druzy walked through the bushes, peaking inside. She saw two griffons standing over Prism, who was unconscious. The griffons looked rather young, as if they were in there late teens. On one griffons side, there was a saddle bag that seemed to be moving a bit.
“I can’t believe that sapphire trick worked.” One of the griffons said, poking Prism. The other griffon snickered.
“I told you that dragons would do anything for gems.” The other griffon said.
“Look, it has an egg. Let’s smash it.” The griffon said with a smirk, picking it ups Druzy has heard enough, stepping out of the bush. Both griffons jumped in surprise.
“Put my egg down!” She shouted. One of the griffons gasped in surprise, while the other one smirked.
“You’re gonna have to catch me first!” The griffon exclaimed before flying off above the trees. The other griffon looked at Druzy before quickly flying after his friend. Druzy opened her wings and quickly flew after the teens. She let out a large blue flame at the griffon, lighting it’s tail on fire. The griffon let out a scream of pain, throwing the egg up into the air.
“I got you my baby!” Druzy exclaimed, out stretching her arms. The griffon tossed his saddle bag at Druzy, hitting her in the face. She stumbled back, gripping onto the bag. There was something soft inside. By the time she took the bag off of her face, it was too late. She watched her egg plummet to the ground. The griffons laughed loudly, flying off.
“NO!” Druzy exclaimed. She closed her eyes tightly, not wanting to see her egg splattered against the ground. There was no way the egg survived that fall. She let out a loud sob, covering her face with her hand. The sun peaked over the horizon as she slowly made her way to the ground. She landed on the ground, holding the saddle bag on her wing. She slowly made her way back to her husband, dreading to tell him the bad news.
Prism sat straight up, looking around in confusion. He was in the forest, which was odd because he rarely ever slept outside the cave. Memories from the past hour came flooding back, making him stand straight up.
“Druzy!” He exclaimed in a panic, looking around. Prism turned around to see Druzy sitting a few feet away with her back turned to him. He let out a sigh of relief and walked over to his wife.
“I’m glad you’re okay, I thought they got you.” Prism said, putting his hand on her shoulder. Druzy turned around with tears dripping down her face. Her eyes were red and her nose was running.
“Are you okay? Did they hurt you?” Prism asked in concern. Druzy shook her head wiped her tears.
“They took the egg and smashed it. They took my baby.” Druzy sobbed out. Prism let out a gasp and wrapped his arm around her.
“We can have another one, okay?” He tried to reassure. Druzy shook her head.
“Do you know how long it took for me to lay an egg? It took three hundred years! I can’t do it again.” Druzy said, leaning into her husbands chest. Prism looked at the bag that was in his wife’s hands.
“What’s in the bag?” He asked. Druzy looked at the bag and shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know, one of the griffons threw it at me.” She explained. She opened the bag and gasped at what she saw.
“There’s a baby in here.” She said in disbelief. She reached in the back and pulled out a pegasus foal. She was light grey with a dark red mane. She slept peacefully. Prism jumped back in surprise.
“A pony?! Get rid of it!” Prism exclaimed. Druzy quickly shook her head and held the foal close to her chest.
“No, for what we know this baby is all alone and I’m going to take care of it.” Druzy said, stomping her foot down. Prism scowled.
“I don’t like ponies and you know it. You know what ponies did to my parents!” He shouted.
“That was four hundred years ago, ponies are different now. Besides, we can raise her as our own.” Druzy stated, starting to getting excited.
“She has I have some parents somewhere, give me that bag.” Prism said, taking the bag. He rummaged through the bag and pulled out a flyer. It was a flyer for an old rundown orphanage.
“See! Those griffons were taking her to an orphanage. If we don’t raise her, she’ll go to that terrible orphanage!” Druzy said dramatically. Prism rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.
“Fine, if a Sonic Rainboom happens at this moment, we can raise the baby as our own.” Prism stated. He was bluffing about that, he would do anything to make his wife happy, even if it made him upset. Besides, a Sonic Rainboom hasn’t happened in over five thousand years. It was unlikely one was going to happen now. Suddenly, a loud boom echoed across the sky, making both dragons look up. A rainbow shimmered across the sky, lighting it up. Prism’s jaw dropped.
“You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.” He said in disbelief. Druzy broke out into a wide grin and looked at the baby in her arms.
“Hi small baby, I’m your new mom.” She said excitedly. The foal opened her eyes and gave a smile when she saw Druzy.
“Your eyes are so pretty!” Druzy exclaimed, gazing into her daughters orange eyes.
“If we’re keeping her, she needs a name.” Prism said, finally tearing his eyes away from the sky. Druzy thought for a moment, tapping her chin.
“Her name is going to be Scarlet Blaze.” Druzy stated. Prism’s eyes lit up at that name.
“That’s my mother’s name.” He stated. Druzy chuckled.
“I know it is. Now let’s go home and let her settle in.”
