Their lips came together in a kiss. One that didn't mind the closing of their eyes. The water became heavier as it consumed them. The cool touch creeping into pure cement crashing into their skin. Coldness washed all around. But like as it was before, it could do nothing, not a single thing to the two bodies lit on fire despite being deep underwater.
Their kiss continued even without air. At least there were no worries about how one was going to exhale during it. All they did was enjoy the act, each other's lips, the dancing of tongues, the feeling of fading despite being with another.
Fading.
Fading.
Faded.
Luna shot up in her bed in desperate gasps for air, coughing and hacking the nothing lodged in her throat, coming to beat a fist against her chest, thoroughly convinced she'd swallowed a fish. It took her a few moments for her fears to die away. For the panic to fade to what really was the case.
What occurred to her first that it was neither grass nor dirt, water or land beneath her tush. Rather it was a mattress covered in sheets composed of silk. The weight of water proved to be a mere velvet blanket cast over her feet. Though her window was open... the morning breeze was nothing compared to the harsher currents of water near the bottom of a lake.
And yet her lungs still burned.
Luna was smiling by the time her panting came to a slow, knowing she must have been breathing in her sleep but, when it came to those magical times—she halted herself from doing so. Though her bed was soft and warm, it did not hold her the way a body of water did.
She was confined by gravity. Her appreciating for breathing, taking and letting go of air, the way it could cool burning lungs—all of it was gone. Within seconds she was doing it automatically again. There was nothing special about it now. Unlike before, when even taking a gulp of air, sometimes, could be considered a luxury.
When it came time for her feet to sway off the bed, coming to place themselves on the floor, Luna realized something. The heat. That burning both inside and out that drove her mad... was no longer as bad. She could still feel it, of course. The temperature on her skin and in the air. But below the surface, it was like some of that water from the lake, somehow, continued to flow through her body.
Even the heat between her legs had cooled down.
“Shame our night had to end so soon, Delta.” Luna was smiling as she said his name, walking toward her attire left on the stand. It seemed a little too loose to her now, considering heat wasn't as much as an issue. “But I have a feeling this blistering heat of mine won't be kept away so easily.”
She began to put on her clothes behind the cover of wooden panels, not trusting the thousands of times her sister walked in, without knocking, to either talk or hang out. But Luna wasn't focused on that. Slipping on her panties and clipping on her bra, Luna took a hand to her ass, cupping a cheek, kneading the flesh rather softly.
“Maybe I did leave you a bit hanging in our deal, lover.” Luna smiled as she gave herself a squeeze, knowing her body in the dream was the same as the one she walked around with in real life. Only, for whatever reason, it felt like she kept Delta from truly enjoying it. “If we do meet again, let us hope it's when our eyes are open.”
Another thought came to mind of her room suddenly being flooded. Now wouldn't that be interesting? To have her room, exactly as it was, cast within the veil of dense water. To swim around like a fish in a tank, enjoying her surroundings in a new way, having someone to do something familiar with.
Though once she was dressed, out the door and ready for duty, the princess found the next, though easier before, marked by something strange. Someone new had put in order to be a part of her guard. Not only that—but her more personal one at that.
Taking the paperwork back to her desk, that, and with a cup of coffee left brewed by her loving sister, Luna sat down and scooted in, already taking a sip, this tasting better than the lake water. Though it didn't fill her like that lake had. Filling every inch of her mouth and throat and belly, pushing out slightly due to the volume, a strangely pleasant tickle going all around when it had happened.
But when looking through the report of the stallion, his photo was the first thing to draw her gaze. The quickening of her heartbeat thundered in her ears. It... couldn't be, could it? He looked so much alike, but that a common thing from time to time.
It was in looking at the name, the first-word saying 'Delta' that Luna, having taken another sip of coffee—then spat it out. It hurt both her throat and her lungs to do that act. Though, quickly upon recovering from her coughing, she lifted the stamp on the side of the desk.
The newest member, even before the interview, marked approved.
Author's Note
It's a broad world out there, in terms of land and in terms of people though, to me, the latter matter more than the former. Can't say exactly what I was expecting when first started to undertake commission work.
Though something like was truly unexpected.
I'm thankful for it. One who abides to only their ideas becomes limited to their own styles and tastes. You must be willing to go outside your zone of comfort to try and learn something new. Most of the time, despite the project, you'll come back, different, being able to do the same things with a slight change to them.
