The Gate
Earth, United Kingdom, Stonehenge, September 18th.
90 Minutes Until The Gate Opens
Henry laid his hand on the stone in front of him, he could feel a tingling but couldn't figure out what it was. It sure was about this density they discovered but still, they had no idea what was causing it. They were studying on this for hours, they had to find something useful!
Henry turned to others as Amber approached him. "Nothing?"
"No, just this tingling as before." He shrugged with a frown. "Guess it's over."
"Hey don't you lose your hope, we still have one day. We can continue tomorrow." She comforted him.
Mark called them from their set up. "I wouldn't be so certain Henry! Come look what Jay found."
Henry headed next to Jay to see what he got. The portable system they set up was a bit small but it was easy to manage. Jay showed him a monitor that was showing the globe, it looked like a gps tracking system. A chamber around the globe was forming on the location they were remaining right now. "The fluctuations are getting faster each minute."
Henry checked the screen. "1.000 kilometers per second?! But that's impossible!"
"And it increases every minute." Caitlyn added. "It already broke the sound barrier. If it keeps increasing like this, it will exceed the speed of light."
"Then we know when it will happen!" Henry exclaimed victoriously.
"But still, there is one more thing we don't know..." Jay pointed out. "We have no idea what is going to happen."
Equestria,Canterlot, 18th Day of Asterial Era, 1019
Princess Asteria was standing in front of the gate, element bearers were behind her alongside Lyra. Three archmages were positioned around the center. Other ponies in palace and city were ready and waiting for the gate to open. Asteria had a victorious smile on her muzzle, staring at the light beam in front of him quietly.
"Oh! I wonder if we'll throw a -Meeting of Ponies and Humans- Party?! Do they like parties? Because we like parties so maybe the do like parties if they're thinking like us?" Pinkie lined up her questions.
"Oh darling I doubt that. Those humans are obviously nothing like us, don't you remember what Princess said?" Rarity replied her always-excited friend.
"I don't think I'll ever get close to them. After I've heard they eat animals, there's no way I can trust those savage... meanies!" Fluttershy tried to seem angry.
"Hey chill out! If they try to do anything sneaky, we show them who they're messing with!" Rainbow Dash punched in her hoof.
"Ah'm with Rainbow here. If those hoo-mans do any harm to mah friends, they'll regret it." Applejack agreed.
All this humiliation towards humans were making Lyra uncomfortable but she didn't say anything to protest, instead she ignored it all.
Twilight turned to Princess with an unsure look on her face. But Asteria just smiled and turned to bearers. "Now now my little ponies, despite how savage they are, we're not going to be rude to them. Remember, we're going to be positive! After all we are going to cure them, not fight them right?"
They all looked at eacother, then nodded and Lyra smiled warmly for this response.
Asteria then turned to Ice Blaze, who was staring at the orb in his grip. "How long does it left to open?"
Ice Blaze used the orb on portal and checked it again to see the process. "About seventy minutes, your highness."
This answer made Asteria to bite her lip, it wasn't hard to see she was becoming impatient. She then lighted up her horn and casted a spell at the portal which made everyone gasp. "Check it again will you?"
Ice Blaze used the orb again and checked it one more time. His eyes widened in surprise. "Thirty minutes... your highness."
Asteria smiled softly for this result. "Very good."
"Ahe ahem..." a cough heard from the door. A white stallion with a blue mane entered the room. His tuxedo and the monocle on his face was remarkable. "Your highness, you're needed in throne room."
Asteria smiled at him and headed to doorway. "Thank you for noticing Fancy Pants." She then turned back at bearers. "I'll be back shortly."
Ice Blaze held out the orb to the portal again, to check princess' spell but as he brought the orb closer to it, a spark formed and hit him in the face, not to injure but hurt him. "Ouch!" The little impact made him fall back. "Oh dang it!"
Light Swirl came up to help her friend. "Woah, Ice you alright?"
"Yeah it's just, that stupid thing is still unstable." After shaking onself, he scanned the floor then his eyes narrowed. "Guys, have you seen the orb?"
Earth, United Kingdom, Stonehenge, September 18th.
Henry touched the stone once again, he could still feel the tingling but it was much intense now. He then crouched and touched the ground, the tingling remained as it is. "Anything noteworthy Jay?"
"The waves are still getting faster." His stare remained on the screen. "And that's all."
Henry joined Jay to see the fluctuations again. Yep, nothing new except the speed change.
"Maybe we should move it?" Offered Mark. Maybe it depends on where we stand?
"Oh what? Like a TV signal? Sure lets move and see if we get a better frequency." Caitlyn mocked him.
"What it may be-"
"Hush, wait wait wait!" Jay silenced them. "Something is happening." The waves on the monitor was getting much faster then before. "7.500 kilometers per minute... No 14.000 kilometers per minute!" Jay's hands were shaking. They were getting faster every moment. This sudden increasing continued for five minutes as Jay kept counting. " 90.000 kilometers per second?! 170.000 kilometers per second!"
They could feel the ground shaking beneath them, they were holding their breaths as Jay continued. Yes something was happening, something was coming, something big was coming.
"220.000 kilometers per second! And 300.000 kilometers per second! At the speed of light!" As he shouted, a light beam appeared at the middle of stones, just in front of them. Everyone of the group was holding their breath as the light beam growed, growed and finally something small fell of the ground as it suddenly dissapeared.
All of them were looking at the ground, where the object landed. No one was speaking, just staring at the thing. After a few minutes of staring, Mark moved from where he was and slowly approached where the object landed. He crouched and took the object. It was an orb, a small, light blue orb easy that could easily fit in an adult's palm. It looked like it was made out of glass. "It's a glass ball!" He headed to others and put the orb on the table.
Henry looked at the orb, scanned every inch of it. He wanted to say something but he had no idea what to say. Should he be happy? Sad? Surprised? Or disappointed?
"Maybe it's something valuable? Like a diamond?" Mark said.
Monitor in front of Jay was not working anymore. "I can't believe it... I. Just. Can't. Believe it!" He shouted as he let go of the monitor. "We worked for months! We made analyzes! We hid this whole thing from our manager! We've fucking came to Stonehenge! And what we got... is just a fucking marble?!" He turned to others. "What the fuck guys! What the actual fuck?!"
Mark gripped his shoulder from behind. "Jay, calm down."
Henry's eyes slipped to the orb. No, this was not any marble... Something was off with this glass ball. He could feel it. He slowly reached to it and lifted it. Yes, there it was: the tingling, same feeling when he touched the stones. He got up, glared at the monitor and saw the waves started to form again. He ignored his friends' arguement and headed back to stones.
"Calm down?! How the hell can I calm down Mark?!" He pulled himself back. "Tell me how the fuck am I supposed to calm down!"
As he approached the stones with the orb, the noise of his friends were slowly running lower. Finally, just as he came at the center of the stones, silence took over the atmosphere. The stats at Jay's monitor were going insane as he got closer. When he felt it was it, he dropped the orb on the ground. Just as he dropped it, he found himself on the ground, meters away from the structure. The impact of the orb caused an explosion that made him fly away. But despite how hard it was, the stones were totally fine.
Suddenly, a light beam appeared at the center of the Stonehenge, just like before but this time, it was bigger. The beam remained still for a few seconds, then a silhouette appeared in it. What came out from it afterwards left Henry in shock. A horse, a pure white horse with wings and a horn on it's forehead. It's mane was waving in the air, four kind of colours were adorning it. It had a crown on top of it's head, a necklace on it's neck, and golden shoes under it's hooves.
He could hear others were calling out his name. Just when he was about to get up, his blurry vision became completely black as he felt a pain at the back of his skull.
Princess Asteria watched as military uniformed men dragged the person on the ground and took care of the others. They were finally here, on planet Earth. So the time has finally come.
