An Unseen Outcome
When Sunset Shimmer leaped through the portal under the castle, an endless swarm of possibilities filled her mind as to where she could end up on the other end of this dimensional portal. She imagined a world filled with fantastical beasts that the likes of Equestria has never seen before. She fantasized about spells that not even the great Starswirl the Bearded could fathom in his years of scholarly research. She wondered if she would land in the same dimension the Sirens were banished to, that way they could form an alliance and usurp Celestia for all that she reaped them of.
However, never in a million years would she predict she would land smack dab in the middle of a world void of any magic, and buck naked at that. Of course, living in a world such as Equestria, nudity was hardly a concern, but after a cop had stopped her and told her that public indecency was a crime, she decided acquiring some clothes would be in order. The issue of clothes would have been quite easy if she retained her magic so she could fabricate clothes out of thin air, but this world’s lack of magic left her with no option but to resort to petty theft.
But that was a minor setback, a small hindrance in the gran scheme of things. She couldn’t allow such an insignificant event to hold her back. No, her the plan she had was much too great for something like a lack of clothes or magic to stop her.
And so she went on her way, learning the ways of the people and becoming acquainted with how the world works. And now, with all the required knowledge at her very fingertips, she set her plan in motion.
(Years Later)
One would think that years to capitalize on one’s ambitions would be too much for them to carry that with them, their zeal to achieve all that is theirs to own dying out before their plan could come into fruition. But not Sunset, she fed this grudge and festered her hatred for far too long only for something like time to whittle it all away.
Her timeless patience would soon pay off as her knowledge of Equestria’s time and a little outside help allowed her to coordinate her plan to perfection. With the coronation of this so called ‘Princess Twilight Sparkle’ just this Saturday, it served as the crux of her plan. Everything was just as it should be.
But to do what she set out to do, she needed to stay behind in school. However, in spite of the free-spirit-ness of the school, it was strict on one rule and that was no student was allowed on school grounds after closing, and with the advance mechanical eyes to watch in stead of another ‘human being’ as their called, it was nearly impossible to sneak by. She had to admit, while this world’s lack of magic was disappointing, their technological advances were leaps and bounds farther than anything Equestria could hope to achieve.
Alas, after stealing the janitor’s keys and memorizing every single one, along with the location of the security room, her plan was all but halted from its progress. Of course, to put her plan in motion, she would have to hide in the security room’s closet the whole day, which wouldn’t be so much of a problem as she’s skipped class a multitude of times and all that was ever done was the school’s principal sent letters to her non-existent mom who’s constantly sick and at the hospital. She had to learn how to forge hospital bills, doctor’s notes, and medical records to be able to pull this sort of stunt off, but she’d done it, and no one ever suspected a single thing.
Now, with all the pieces in place, all she had to do was wait for the bell to ring and everyone to leave. She found it increasingly difficult to wait in one place for what had to be 12 hours – 6 hours for the school day to start and end and an additional 6 hours for everyone but the lone security guard to be in the building – but her patience was rewarded as soon, the security guard was fast asleep in the chair and nobody was here.
So, it is with impeccable caution that Sunset slipped out of the closet, equipping a single key as she slithered closely to the slumbering guard, more silent than the wind, and more deadly than the night. She wrapped a tight hand around the guard’s mouth, and being the light sleeper he was, he woke up immediately and began thrashing. His thrashing, however, was a mere inconvenience to her as while she was void of her magic, her natural pony physiology translated into this human body, allowing her to overpower him easily. She brought the single key up and brought it across the guard’s throat, slicing it and killing him instantly.
Blood stained her hands; but she had become desensitized to killing, already having a sizeable body count on her person allowed for her to become void of any emotion when she stole the life of another living being. All she did was shake her hands and proceeded to disable every single camera in the building before delivering a vital blow to the system, ensuring that it would take ages for it to be repaired.
With all possible avenues for her detection sealed, her plan was ready to be enacted upon and she couldn’t keep her excitement any longer. She struts down the school corridors towards the front entrance with the energy of a foal opening their Hearths Warming – or as these creatures call it; Christmas – presents. And while the time for either winter holidays were far from coming in either worlds, she felt as if she was gifting herself with the present of a lifetime.
*CLACK* *CLACK* *CLACK*
The sound of boots hitting the tiled floor reached her ears, stopping her dead in her tracks as she turned around briskly, watching the paths behind her intently, but found nothing. She chalked it up to her imagination as not a single other soul should be in here other than herself for only, she and the janitor held the keys to enter. Or, at least, that was what she liked to believe as she turned back around and continued her trek to the front door.
*CLINK*
Her progress halted once more as the sound of keys jingling reached her ears and she immediately turned around. It was unmistakable, she was not alone in this building, not as much as she wished, and someone else was in here. No problem, she thought to herself, this foolish child of a fool sealed his fate by joining her in this building and he would meet the same end as the guard she had murdered earlier. She stealthily made her way to where she heard the sound, equipping another key to kill this intruder.
However, just as she was rounding the corner, the towering figure of a masked man leaped through one of the classrooms, a small knife in hand. She was frozen in fear as this large, colossal of a being stood in front of her with a weapon, surely ready to attack her. Her frozen state would prove to be her undoing as it allowed the man to reach out and seize her throat and lift her off the ground.
She pounded on this human’s arm in an attempt to free herself, but this one was marginally stronger than the guard, his grip not unlike that of the vice grip the Royal Guard’s were so used to administering. She watched as he raised his hand, the knife’s metal glistening in the moonlight bursting through one window, a clear premonition of the death to reach her if she was too slow to act.
Fishing in her pockets, she plucked a canister of pepper spray, and with the little breath she had left, proceeded to lay it into the intruder. He screamed in agony and dropped her along with his knife, allowing her a moment to breathe. But she could not sit here and breathe while he recovered, no, she got to her feet and sprinted in the other direction, however tough that may be with the lack of air.
As she was running, a flood of thoughts ran through her mind, a result of nearly brushing up against death for the second time since she was here. But the one thought that prevailed the most was the detail that this man was wearing a shirt with a hawk on it, and the flashing portrait of that detail reminded her of one kid: Lincoln Masque.
The boy had been the victim of her countless bullying, and now, it seemed that he was ready to end his suffering once and for all. But that didn’t explain why he was here in this building; it made no sense. Unless…
Her heart raced faster than the speed of light as that one possibility came to mind. But no, he couldn’t have known; she calculated and hid her scheming so well that nobody would’ve known about her plan save for her. There was absolutely no way an insignificant, useless, waste of space would be the one individual she had missed and allowed to peer into her plans.
But she had no time to think, her endless twists and turns proving futile as Lincoln leaped out of a corner once more. He gave her no time to react, only grabbing her throat once more and slamming her against the wall with enough force she heard cracks in her chest. He raised his knife and proceeded to stab her multiple times, blood staining the once gleaming metal and the floor beneath them as consciousness slipped from her. Her fleeting thoughts in the moments she was alive was how she had failed to fulfill her own destiny and exact revenge on all that had wronged her.
Before long, she closed her eyes for the very last time, and no one would be the wiser.
(Next Monday)
The following week, there was one body but evidence of two murders; a long trail of blood leading from one place in the school to the statue in the school’s courtyard. But with the security system utterly destroyed, any evidence of tapes for that could have caught anything prior to the murders gone, and nothing indicating what could’ve been used as the weapons of murder, the cops were forced to drop the case all together.
That wasn’t the case with Equestria, however, as they received a nice present of mutilated Sunset Shimmer mysteriously one day. Only one Crystal Guard caught sight of the possible murderer, a large pony with a mask and a knife before blackness enveloped him. The next morning, the guard woke up but with no evidence of this masked pony, no one would ever know the truth.
