Chapter 21: Resourceful Return

Previous ChapterNext Chapter

“That’s it! I win again!” Death shouted, getting the same reaction that he had always gotten from playing a game of cards. He was playing Anti, which was pretty funny, due to him literally playing a timberwolf at cards and did actually lose a couple of games. He looked over to Blitz to see that he was yet again, staring into space, noticing how the world seemed to move normally, even when he was gone, which did make him a little sad about all of the events that he had gone through. Blitz closed his eyes, but instantly regretted it, as heaps of memories came flooding into his vision, hurting him mentally and leaving a lasting impression on his brain, making it think differently about everything that he was seeing within them.

“Blitz? Are you doing that thing again?” Death asked, looking over to Blitz from the comfy chair that he was sat in, not attempting to get up to try to help Blitz or just to give him support. Blitz looked back and said nothing, before walking over to the group and laying down beside them, resting his head and refusing to talk. What was the point to talking anymore? They could understand Blitz’s emotions, due to being within his head all the time, knowing everything that he thought, let alone spoke with confidence. That confidence died when he did, not really having a reason to speak anymore.

Every pony and creature around Blitz knew how low he felt, making him not feel any lower than he already could due to him being able to begin cutting them off from his mind, which he was able to do within his head, due to him still being trapped within stone. The nightmare walked up behind Blitz and then laid on him, making him feel cold to the bone, as she tried to show him some affection, not really working at all, due to the mindset that Blitz was stuck in. He wished that he could have gotten out of that state, but it was way way too far gone for that to ever happen naturally, making his happiness almost seem to fade as well, making it feel like he was in literal tartarus.

Blitz was mentally unstable, making his mind a warzone like all of Equestria, which was not something to brag about at all. Azure’s last sighting was something that Blitz forced himself to see over and over and over again, making his mind forced to endure and become stronger, but sadly that wasn't the case, due to the likes of the nightmare being able to warp his thoughts, using them to manipulate Blitz in every way imaginable. She failed badly at manipulating Blitz, due to him having nothing to gain leverage from, due to him being stuck in the state of being unconscious, but also being encased for eternity.

“I think that he just needs to relive the memories that he cherished so much, back when he fought me with all of his friends, having a good old time.” The nightmare boasted, getting both Blitz and Death to become hostile towards her, making her recoil a little and shrink away, like the deceiving little liar she was. Blitz didn't need her doing what she was to distort Blitz’s emotions, making him vulnerable if he was to go into deep thought about it, allowing the nightmare to be able to manipulate Blitz easily, but he wasn't going to allow her to do such a thing to him, planning on making it so that she would never get to him. If Blitz thought about it more, Death should have been more motivated to take over Blitz’s body, but he had never tried before, making Blitz trust him, way more than he did the nightmare.

“You ain't going to get to me, Nightmare!” Blitz roared to her, making her feel a little bit bad, but she didn't care too much, due to her being the best manipulator around, even better than Blitz was, and he was a changeling, the best of manipulators. That didn't matter too much, as the ground around them began to shake, making them all wobble and then fall over, due to the intensity and magnitude of the shake, making them feel a little bit confused, due to them being within Blitz’s head. Why did Blitz’s head shake wildly? He was not awake, that was the problem. He should have moved his head, before waking up, but he didn’t. Gravity seemed to be nonexistent, as they fell down, but never hitting the floor, making Blitz feel a little scared about what was happening to his body in the real world, not inside his head.

They seemed to be falling for quite some time, making Blitz think that he was being dropped from Cloudsdale or something like that, due to how long the fall was. Death and Anti were as confused as he was, not knowing what was happening with them all. Before anything was able to happen, Blitz closed his eyes, before letting out a single tear, hoping that this was the chance that he would get to either leave the planet and go to another place or if he could at least see ponies again. He opened his eyes, burning cuts and gashes restricting his movement as much as possible, making him scream out in pain!

Blitz stopped screaming, before noticing that there was part of some type of rock around him, almost like it had been chipped away from another rock. He then remembered back to the events that had happened just a little while ago, remembering what those Steel Rangers had thrown at him, making him question if any of that stone on the floor was part of his body. Blitz was spot on, seeing a flat piece of rock and noticing that it was a chunk of his tail, making him feel like he was completely broken, but knew that he wasn't. Blitz tried to fight through the pain, but it was becoming a little too much for even him to handle. He didn't even know where he was for a start, making him become a little bit more paranoid, which was pretty acceptable according to his story of being trapped within a rock one minute and the next, waking up in somewhere else with chunks of yourself scattered over the floor. He was in shock.

Blitz noticed that there was some movement above him, making him believe that he was within a basement or cellar of someplace. Blitz tried to get up, but couldn’t, due to his state, which made him feel like he was rapidly deteriorating. He mastered enough strength to get up, using some boxes that were behind him. It almost looked like he was in a boat of sorts, making him feel a little worse and additionally throwing him off balance, making him fall back over, seeing all of his green blood leaving his body. Blitz knew that he was alive, due to the pain that he was feeling, giving him the hope that he would have been able to see his friends again. He stood up, the feeling of regret and injustice within his mind, pulsating his heart more and more with each beat. He tried to push against the door, but it was locked shut. Blitz was in no dire need to get out of the room anyway, only apart from the sheer amount of blood that he was losing.

“What am I even able to do?” Blitz asked himself aloud, hearing the echo of his voice bounce off some of the walls, before returning to him with a slightly muffled pitch. He was not trapped, at least he hoped he wasn't, due to him wanting to do so much in the world, before leaving it again. Blitz noticed that something was underneath the box that was closest to him, making him want to open it up and see what was under it and see what else was within it. Blitz opened the box with a little plank of wood that he found on the floor, using the plank to lever the box to open. Inside the box was a fair amount of explosives, which made Blitz feel a little scared, due to how much was within the box. There was enough there to level that ship that they had originally gone to the Steel Ranger’s base to discover and see with their own eyes.

Blitz tilted the box a little, his magic being very weak, due to him only just recovering from being frozen in time for Celestia knows how long. Blitz moved it with all of his might, but it was still not enough. He did the little lever trick that he did with the top of the box, placing the piece of wood under the box and using what little weight he had to move the box, allowing him to get the item below the box, or at least see it. Blitz tilted the box a little too far, making the box fall over, along with all of the explosives within the box, making Blitz become a little paranoid with it all, hoping that none of them had a timer on them.

Blitz approached the item that was under the box, noticing that there was a familiar blue glow around the item. It seemed to be a bookmark of some sort, which made Blitz think about which ministry mare would have been the closest associate to the item. He was leaning towards the ministry of science, which was run by no other than Twilight Sparkle. If she was so good at science, it made sense that she read a lot of books. Blitz was about to place the item within his saddlebag, but noticed that his saddlebag, along with all of his over items were gone. He checked around and saw that there was no sight of them, meaning that they could have been anywhere. Blitz remembered that he had some personal stuff within them, making him a little bit sad, but keeping his strengths up, to avoid doing nothing.

Blitz was tired of doing nothing, so it was time to do something, hopefully not stupid, but knowing himself, it was too stupid for it to fail. Blitz picked up one of the explosives on the floor and placed it on the door, before moving all of the other explosives away from the one that he had just placed on the door, before moving back to the one on the door and pushing one of the buttons that started the timer to the bomb. He ran back, not knowing how big the explosion was, making him want to keep away from all of the other bombs in the room. Before Blitz could say anything to himself, he felt a little tremor, followed by a loud bang. The bomb went off and didn't let anything escape undamaged. Blitz noticed that there was a little hole in the door, making him walk towards it and seeing that the room was filling with water, due to them supposedly being underwater, which was incredibly unlikely. Blitz hit the timer on one other bomb, throwing it within the pile, before teleporting through the hole and having to swim up, due to him actually being under the water. He didn't realise it, but he was under a huge amount of water, making him question his sanity. He looked behind him to see the bottom of the ship, the bottom of the HMS Celestia. Before he was able to look back up, the explosives within the section of the ship that he was in blew up, pushing him with a load of water upwards, pushing them both out of the normal level of the water. Blitz used his wings to steady himself, which was failing miserably. Blitz landed on the ground a little sloppily, making him feel like he couldn't fly at all anymore, not till he got his strength back.

Blitz looked back at where he had just come from and noticed that it was indeed the ship that he had originally gone over to see, meaning that he was pretty far from the settlement, far from his home. Blitz tried to build up the strength to get up, but he was unable to. He looked up to the sky and closed his eyes for a brief second, before taking in a deep breath and opening them again, noticing that the nightmare was staring at him from the side. Blitz rolled onto his back, instantly regretting his action, due to the amount of pain that he was in, making him feel like he needed to get somewhere soft, otherwise he was going to die. That was all in his head though, making him get anxious and making him feel like he could do something better than just complaining about the situation. Blitz slowly rolled back over, wanting to get over to the mare that was looking at him in a saddened way, but he was very badly struggling. The nightmare rolled her eyes, before walking over to Blitz, her ghostly form helping him up and off the ground, making it so that Blitz was able to steady himself without the help of the nightmare that was beside him. She looked at him in the eyes before walking backwards and lighting her horn, making her form go even more ghostly, before disappearing once and for all.

Blitz felt a little scared at that point, before Death and Anti phased into view, as well as the nightmare beginning to come back to reality. They all looked at each other before Death stepped forwards and so did the nightmare. She walked inside of Death, before he walked towards Azure. Anti walked back a little, making it clear that she didn't want anything to do with whatever was going on. Death placed his hoof in the air, almost like he wanted Blitz to take his hoof within his own, which scared Blitz a little. After a little bit of hesitation, he placed his hoof lightly against Death’s and saw something that truly did shock him to the bone. Death merged with Blitz again, making him feel something else. Love? No! Passion? No! Strength!

Blitz saw a flash of bright light, before seeing the world the same again, but this time, it was a lot more easy to work out. Blitz shook his head, before learning everything that Death knew, overpowering his mind and improving his knowledge significantly, before he grew light headed. Blitz looked around and then instantly used a spell to repair most of the damage that came from getting out of the stone that had imprisoned him for what felt like a couple of hours.

“We have lost so much time! We can’t let anything stop us!” Death yelled within Blitz, making it sound like he was whispering it into his ear. Without noticing it, Anti came closer and nudged Blitz a couple of times, before he noticed that she was nudging him. As he looked down to her, some images flashed into his mind, making him go wide eyed at the sight of his mother being in all of those images that flashed within his mind. Blitz looked away from Anti and thought about it a little bit, before shaking his head and moving his ears to be directly up, feeling like he was not in control of his ears anymore, due to him not being able to hear anything other than… “Stop thinking and move!” Death screamed, forcing Blitz to move, making a sniper shot miss him by a hair. Blitz looked over to the sniper and smiled, before taking control of himself and knowing that Death wanted to protect him. Blitz picked up a rebar poll that was lying on the ground to his left, being more in the water than anything else. Blitz wielded the pole like it was his original sword, swinging it about, before seeing a whole load of raiders approaching him and wielding much more dangerous melee weapons within their mouth or in their magic, making Blitz smile, before remembering the actions of his best friend in the Wasteland. He remembered them, before letting a tear run down his face, wearing a bitter smile too.

“I… I’m sorry, I can't keep my word, not this time!” Blitz stated, before blinking and becoming in the zone. The zone for fighting, even if he was outnumbered. Blitz still believed that even if he couldn't move too much, due to being damaged before, he would surely be able to take on some raiders, at least for old times sake. Blitz felt a surge of power move from one end of his body to the other, rejuvenating his body in the process and giving him access to spells that he didn't even know existed. Blitz looked at each and everypony that was approaching him and smiled as time seemed to slow down, just a little, like it had always for him.

Blitz used one of the new spells to change the rebar that he had within his magic to something else. A bright aura enveloped the weapon, changing it into something that would have been more effective at taking out all of the raiders that were within the area looking at him. It went from being a bit of rubble that seemed to be connected together, to something that looked like it could knock some sense into even the most stupid of creatures. A steel rod took the rebar’s place, making Blitz smile as soon as one of the raiders tried to rush him. Blitz instantly knew what he was going to do, but before he did it, he would have needed to get to an area that the sniper couldn't him from, somewhere close quarters like.

Blitz thought slightly, before looking to his side and seeing the remains of a Steel Ranger base, which gave him the opportunity that he needed to get the distance to come to him, just to line up a shot. Blitz ran into the complex, being chased by at least fifthteen different raiders, all having a variety of weapons, ranging from baseball bats, to full blown military grade swords, making the emotions within Blitz’s head stay where they were, due to him not fearing death like he should have. He had become one with death, so how could he have lost?

“Here goes nothing!” Blitz spoke to both Death and the nightmare within his head, telling them both that he was going to actually try to fight off the enemy, which didn't seem right to him, but since when was anything right within the Wasteland? Blitz turned and ran back at the pursuing raiders, swinging the metal rod that he had within his grasp of his magic, at them and could only be described as pure murderous intent. Blitz’s eyes began glowing red, showing that he was still able to be able to revert to his old ways, making him feel happy.

One of the raiders charged him first, before getting slapped with the metal rod, Blitz delivering a blow to the head that would have caused brain damage if it was a little harder. The raider stumbled back, head in a world of pain, before having another raider pass him. Despite telling himself that he wasn't going to do it, Blitz still held on to what Azure and himself had spoken about before he got turned to stone, making him lower the power of his hits. Death noticed this and then tried to play a trick on Blitz’s mind, making him want to kill all of the ponies around him at that point. Death displayed an image of Azure, being in fear and looking at a raider, getting Blitz’s attention immediately. Blitz shook his head, before realising what Death was doing. He was growing angrier and angrier with Death, which is precisely what Death wanted Blitz to do. Blitz didn't give into the likes of Death, but he did need to do what was necessary to survive, meaning that he either had to flee like a coward, or he had to use Death, Anti and the nightmare to their full potential. He closed his eyes before building up an incredible rage within himself, blaming himself for everything that had happened to get up to the point that they were.

Blitz lashed out at the next raider that was approaching him, before hitting the raider like he did the other one, only this time, he hit him way too hard. The steel rod connected with the flat side of the raider’s cheek and shattered his skull, making pieces of the raider’s head go everywhere. He was going to have to kill the entire army of raiders to be able to have a change to get back to his friends and family, so he was going to take the chance that he had been given and went pacing towards the raiders that were heading towards him. Blitz lashed out again, this time knocking one of the raiders into a group of them, making them slow down enough for him to focus on some others. A bomb dropped on the floor and Blitz could see a countdown timer for it, making him a little worried. He moved the bomb that one of the raiders had into the group of ponies that he had just knocked over, giving the ponies no chance to get away from the bomb that Blitz placed down. The time went off boom when the three or so ponies that were in that group. Blitz didn't enjoy it, but he had to do what he did to thin the herd. Blitz noticed that one of the raiders was carrying a staff-like item, making him take a liking to the slap stick that was the staff. It was a pole with two blades either side of the item, making it almost act like a double edged sword, but with a longer reach, which was something that Blitz needed, just a little bit of range. Blitz picked it up and plunged it into the heart of another raider, noticing how easy it was for it to sink past the skin and fur. Blitz might have found a new favourite item, but those types of thoughts had to wait till after all of the raiders were gone, making him speed up with his actions, getting more and more confident with each new attack, having been away from combat for so long, but he didn't know that.

A couple of raiders charged Blitz, making him go back to the defensive stance that he held before he got turned to stone, making him feel like he was back there, along with all of his friends. Blitz saw that both of the raiders that were charging him had shotguns, being Blitz’s chance to finally get some weapons. Blitz darted into the buildings, carving his own entrances as he ran into them, making the enemy follow his path. He darted up some stairs and then hid around a corner, hindlegs ready to buck anypony that had the balls to come up after him. Apparently, both of the raiders that had charged him originally had the biggest of them, rushing up the stairs with no knowledge of where Blitz was or where he was going to be running next. The raider turned the corner and Blitz saw his opportunity, kicking the raider in the skull with his hindlegs, sending him into the wall next to Blitz and making him either dead due to the impact or knocking him out due to the sheer amount of pressure that went into his head from the kick. Blitz charged the corner and slashed the over one with his staff, making the raider drop the weapon from its mouth in shock and pain. Blitz wasn't going to take a chance at killing the raider just yet. Blitz took out the staff from the crying raider, before walking back up the stairs and picking up the shotgun and checking the ammo for the weapon, seeing that he only had a little bit. Blitz took all he could from the dead or passed out raider, before slicing his head off with the staff, only to make sure that the raider was dead. Blitz didn't have the time for chances!

Blitz walked over to the other raider and looked like he was about to kill the other raider, before the raider coughed something out. Blitz looked at it and saw that it was blood, making him have more reason to kill him.

“I don't want to kill you! I just want to get away from this group and live my life.” The raider stated, rolling onto his back and relaxing a little, to get his heart rate to lower, so that he might lose less blood overall. Blitz turned away before turning back to see the raider holding a pistol in his mouth. The raider shot a lot of bullets at Blitz, but nothing happened, due to Blitz putting up a shield around himself to protect himself, much like what the alicorns of the Wasteland did, thanks to the knowledge of Death and the nightmare that was now being helpful. The raider dropped his weapon, before staring at Blitz, wondering how to kill him.

“Anti? He’s all yours!” Blitz stated, giving Anti a reason to help Blitz. The raider started to panic as Blitz began to walk away from the raider, leaving him with something that he could only guess was Blitz’s pet. Anti spawned from the air in front of the raider, making him scream out in terror. The raider tried to shoot his weapon, but noticed that it was jammed, letting Anti get closer and closer to the raider, before finally being able to reach him with her maw. Anti latched onto the raider’s neck, before getting ready to do something for Blitz to see. Blitz watched her and saw that she wasn't going anything just yet, making him able to get closer to both of them. Blitz was right next to Anti, before she snapped his neck with the most gentle movement, surprising Blitz, before seeing her wrench the raider’s head clean off and throwing it across the room, before she started to chow down on the raider, or what was left of him.

Blitz let Anti have her fun, before looting the other raider that had the shotgun ammo still on him. Blitz saw that there were a fair few random items on the raider, but what was most important were all of the things that he had and was wearing and everything that he had. Blitz needed both something that would let him blend in and something that would give him protection and a place to store his item, which the stuff that the raider had was ideal for the things that he needed. There was only one problem with wearing the raider’s clothes in this situation, which was that he looked nothing like the raider, but he hadn’t really used his changeling ability very much, so he thought that it was the perfect time to use it.

Blitz transformed into the raider that he had killed running up the stairs, being a perfect identical copy of the former raider, which gave Blitz a little bit of satisfaction, due to being able to change into them so well. Blitz loaded what little ammo he had got from the raider, into the shotgun, seeing that Anti was throwing things to the side, before throwing what remained of the other body at the wall. Blitz was happy that he was not alone in his given situation, otherwise he would have probably gone mad at the thought of finally being alone. Anti nudged Blitz’s hoof, making him return out of his daydream and took a firm grasp on reality, making sure that he was able to focus on what he needed to do, which was getting out of that area as quickly as he could.

The door burst open by another raider, sprinting into the room and getting tackled by Anti, before getting his mouth covered by hers. The raider stayed quiet and relaxed, not being in any pain, but being scared as to why the timberwolf had her muzzle wrapped around his face, so his voice was muffled. Blitz walked over to the raider with the shotgun and pulled the pump back. The raider was terrified, but then something flashed into Blitz’s head, making his vision pulse a little, before going back to how it was before.

“Listen here buddy. I am not going to kill you, but I need you to answer some questions for me, okay?” Blitz stated, getting a rapid nod as Anti tightened her grip on the raider’s head, before letting go and walking backwards, keeping her eyes on the raider at all times. “Okay then, so that I can be honest, I’m going to change into my real form, but I still want some answers from you, just let me block the door so nopony can interrupt us.” Blitz stated, seeing more than enough head nodding to know that the raider was up to talking about stuff. Blitz used his magic to place a rusty bar over the lock and handle of the door, allowing nopony to get past it, unless they were to break the rusty bar.

Blitz sat on the grown and so did the raider, making Blitz a little surprised that the raider was willing to comply with Blitz, due to the history of raiders not being the ones who would ever want to comply. Maybe this raider had some wits about him, or maybe Blitz was just getting really lucky with the raiders that he was getting, due to the first ones being dumb and this one being the smart one of the bunch. Blitz changed into his normal self, which got the raider slightly curious as to what happened to the other changelings, which Blitz had questioned himself, making him feel like there were no other changelings in Equestria or within the Equestrian Wasteland, which did make his mood drop a little.

“Right, first question! What happened here?” Blitz asked, getting a little anxious that the raider was going to stay quiet.

“Okay, so this was the base of Steel Rangers and it had been fully operational with that massive ship alongside it, them all more or less treating it as more of a houseboat than a warship. Anyway, trying not to ramble too much, but something created a huge explosion here and made the ship buckle and turn, as well as sending bits of it all over the place. That’s all I know, but our leader sent out a search party to constantly monitor the area.” the raider informed, being more formal than anything else, which surprised Blitz a little.

Blitz commanded Anti to stand down, making the timberwolf walk back and sit down, before resting her head on the cold metallic floor. The raider got up, but didn't walk away. Instead, the raider extended his hoof out into the air, waiting to help Blitz up from sitting down on the cold floor. Blitz accepted the gesture, getting up due to the help of a raider, which was some words that Blitz didn't expect to ever say.

“May I ask about you then? How come you are around here? The partols didn't spot you coming in and we have this place monitored at all times of the day and night, so there is no chance that you walked into this place or flew above us.” the raider explained, suggesting that Blitz was more or less trapped again, but at least had some room to move about and do activities within, which was something he guessed. Blitz didn't want to explain it to the raider, but what over choice did he have, because he didn't even know who the pony in front of him was, or what time it was, or even what the date was. Blitz sighed, before letting his ears droop back to the back of Blitz’s head.

“I was encased by the Steel Rangers and placed within their vault, which was not opened at all. It is now open and there is definitely some stuff in there, but it is mainly explosives. I doubt that many ponies will have the lung capacity for that, so I think it is probably best to tell your boss about it. You still have Sawtooth as a leader, right?” Blitz asked, feeling like he needed to at least help the raiders in some way for some reason. He thought that it was his mind playing tricks on him for all of the killing that he had been doing, making him no better than any of the raiders that he had killed, willingly or unwillingly. The raider shook his head a little, before cocking an eyebrow at the name that he had not heard in a long time.

“Sawtooth? I have not heard that name in months! We operate under the bosses of the names Noname and Greyscale! Sawtooth was killed by somepony ages ago. Speaking of which, you don't happen to know anypony called Azure, right?” the raider asked, getting a little curious as to the nature of the changeling that he was standing in front of.

“Yes! Yes, I know Azure, he and I were great friends, until I sacrificed my life for him and the rest of our settlement to get away. Why? What have you done with him?” Blitz sated, quickly snapping at the raider that was talking about a friend of his, almost like it was a sick and twisted joke to be played within his own reality.

“Nothing, I too am a friend of his. Between me and you, I am on a covert operation to stay within the raider group right now, but I have tried to contact him, but I can’t.” the raider explained, getting a strange look from Blitz.

“Why not?” Blitz pressured, making the raider fess up to anything that he had done that would prevent him from getting away from the others. The raider pulled down the collar of his shirt to reveal another collar, a bomb collar. It was tightly placed around his neck, making it impossible for him to get it off, at least without the help of another pony. Blitz charged his horn, before letting loose a steady stream of magic, before cancelling the spell, causing an EMP like effect, deactivating the collar and the explosives within it. The raider tried to get the collar off, but it still wouldn't budge, making Blitz have to do all of the work to get the object
off from the pony’s neck. Blitz lit his horn, before slicing off part of the collar that was keeping it from being opened. The raider ripped it off, before dropping it to the floor and making sure that it was away from him by walking back from the collar, just in case it was to explode in front of them both, making the thought of that terrify the raider, just a little.

“Because I couldn’t seem to find him anywhere!” the raider stated, before there was some speaking coming from the opposite side of the door. The raiders started to kick the door down from the outside, making Blitz instantly turn back into the raider that he had killed on the steps, hoping that the disguise would have given him enough realness to convince them that he was one of the group. The raiders eventually got the door down to see the two of them tending to the wounds of the other raiders. Blitz used magic from his invisible horn to smack open a back door, making them flinch in the direction of the door that Blitz hit. Blitz got up, before walking over to the door with his new weapon. Blitz slowly opened the door and used his magic to pick himself up and throw himself out of the way, making it seem like the changeling that they were looking for was a little too strong for them. All of the raiders that had come through the door went back out, circling back around and hoping that they would catch the changeling that was hidden within their line of sight.

Blitz rushed out of the building and then moved along with the other area to the entrance to the base, being surrounded by electric wire and a gate that had a huge hole in the centre of it, making Blitz ask the other raider what had happened to the main gate to the base. He shrugged, before looking to Blitz and looking like he was going to cry just there and then. Blitz wrapped an invisible wing around the raider, who looked familiarly like a zebra, which was something that Blitz would ask at another date. Marks were present around the entirety of the raider, making Blitz feel a little sad and sorry about what the raider had been through, just to be helping Blitz escape. Blitz did feel very bad, but it would only be made worse if it was all true and Blitz was not able to find his friends and family as well. It was somewhat heart wrenching to see a raider feel the way he did, but it was just part of everyday life in the Wasteland, something that Blitz needed to get to terms again quickly.

Blitz and his raider friend got to a safer area, before hunkering down, making sure that there were no ponies following them. There definitely were, as a couple of raiders headed in their direction. Blitz turned around and placed something over the other raider, making him disappear within the light of the world, pretty much just acting as an invisibility shield, making him invisible to all, including Blitz. Blitz got up and turned to the raiders, looking down the barrel of one of their guns. Blitz chuckled a little, before pushing the gun to the side. The raider tried to keep his aim on the changeling imposter, but it was not easy when they kept slapping the barrel of the rifle that the raider was using, making it difficult to even aim at him. Blitz changed into his normal changeling form and laughed a little, before pushing the two raiders back with his magic. There were now more raiders coming out of the area that they had just left from, making Blitz a little angrier about them not leaving him alone for at least five minutes. He growled under his breath, before thinking about them killing the entire settlement, which fueled his rage and built it up to an almost unbearable level, making him go a little insane, not in the good way, the way that makes you go insane with power.

Blitz used his magic to launch a couple of ponies away from him, making them hit the electrical fence and get shocked from it, pinning them to it like it was a fly trap. Blitz saw another pony coming towards him and it didn't make him threat. Instead, Blitz got the idea to just get everything over and done with. He was definitely going to be getting rid of them all, but he was just pondering how he could have done it easily. He shook his head, before seeing the raiders shooting their guns at him, a couple more coming closer to try to stop the rapid changeling that was Blitz, but he was not going to let them stop him, neither was Death.

Death was willing to throw everything in his power for Blitz to be able to change the world, like his brother didn’t. Life and Death, one wanted the destruction to be ended and for the world to be ended along with it, while the other sought to protect the world for the ponies of Equestria to rest it and try to rebuild civilizations, along with communities wanting to help each other and try to bring back the feeling of completion again to the world as they knew it. It was a little weird that Death wanted to save the world, while his brother wanted it to end, so that the events would have never occurred. Blitz thought about it, then closed his eyes, his determination to help save the world and bring it back to its former glory was overwhelming, making Blitz go into a frenzy as he opened his eyes.

A raider charged at Blitz, making Blitz dodge the raider’s attack, before striking back with his own. Using his magic, Blitz launched a devastating hit to the raider’s head, using the butt of the shotgun that he had acquired from the previous raider that he had killed. The blow was enough to send the raider tumbling across the floor, knocking him out and damaging the butt of the shotgun, making it a little more awkward to hold with his hooves, but not with his magic.

Another raider tested their might against Blitz, being short lived as Blitz used the other end of the shotgun and placed the barrel right into the mouth of the raider, before pulling the trigger and seeing the back half of the raider’s head explode into a mess of brain and blood, as well as sending a couple of skull fragments flying across the area, acting like additional weapons for a short period of time. Blitz picked up the sharp blade that the stallion had just dropped, keeping it close, just in case he did need to use something more on the sharp side of the spectrum.

A bullet deflected off an object near Blitz, penetrating the bottom part of his leg and forcing him to put up the shield and heal himself, making it so that the rest of the raiders that were challenging him were unable to hurt him.

Blitz took out the shotgun from being within the other raider’s mouth, before cleaning the end of the barrel, making sure the blood wouldn't stain the weapon’s barrel, but sadly, he was a little too late, making him quit cleaning the weapon and using it for more of its intended purpose, killing other things! Blitz knew that he had at least another couple of shots in the shotgun at least, making him need to close the distance for those shots to be effective. Blitz looked behind to see that his magic spell on his raider friend had worn off, but they still didn't notice him, as he took shot after careful shot at the longer ranged raiders with their rifles, making Blitz only have to deal with the raiders that were getting close. That was exactly what Blitz needed them to go.

Blitz took a step forward, before stopping, due to him not yet healing his wounded leg. Death kicked in, since Azure was not around and healed Blitz’s leg, making Blitz feel a little grateful to the deathly presence of Death himself being within Blitz’s body. It was an honour as well as a burden at the same time, which was something that Death agreed with instantly. Death didn't want to force Blitz to kill or to change himself, but he needed to get all of these artifacts together in order to at least prove to his brother that there was no need to restart everything by destroying everything in ponykind. It was his job to reap yeah, but he didn't enjoy it too much and definitely didn't want to get every single pony and creature coming to him, making him want to save them all, which was weird when Blitz thought about it more, due to the duo wanting the complete opposite of what they were known for.

Blitz made Death stop thinking, due to him looking at a couple of raiders that were charging at Blitz, making Death stay quiet. Blitz smiled as all of the voices within his head hushed, if not for a minute, as Blitz charged at each raider, his shield being only in front of him as he charged forwards. Blitz slid quickly under one of the raiders, unloading a deadly shot underneath the raider, peppering him in buckshot as each individual piece ripped holes through his body, destroying everything that they came into contact with. It ripped a part out of the raider, sending most of it into the air above, while his body fell to the ground, dead!

Blitz continued to rush forwards, before seeing another pony get picked off by his new acquaintance, before focusing on the ponies that he was coming up to. Blitz noticed that the next raider was a mare, but he didn't discriminate, so he decided to do something to her, being more delicate for the mare, almost like he cared. Blitz dropped his shield, before seeing that she had a knife in her muzzle. Blitz bowed, before taking the blade out of her mouth with his magic and placing it in his, before he hugged her tightly, digging the blade into her neck as he began to nuzzle her. The mare began to scream in pain, before Blitz locked eyes with her and smiled, ripping the blade out of her throat and painting the floor red with her blood, as opposed to the floor being green with his. Blitz didn't like the killing, but there was something that Death was doing to him that was making it so much more satisfying than ever, making Blitz feel no sadness or repercussions from doing this to the raiders, who had it coming anyway, due to them attacking random ponies for no reason, just to do their worst to them.

Blitz kept the mare’s knife, before picking up his speed again, raising his shield for another time. Another raider was running towards Blitz, but he had something that Blitz might have found a challenge to deal with. The stallion wielded a shotgun, a shotgun that had a magazine attached to it, much like the one that he gave to Azure, making Blitz want it really badly. Blitz lifted up his shield, before aiming his shotgun below it and shooting the raider in the hooves, knocking him over and making it so that he dropped the shotgun from his mouth. Blitz went to shoot the raider, but the raider quickly grabbed the shotgun and moved it back to his mouth, before Blitz took a shot at the raider’s head, only hitting the weapon and breaking it in the process. Blitz was angry, because he was going to have the weapon to remember his friend, but now it was completely broken and in bits, making Blitz hate the raider even more than he already did.

Blitz focused on another raider that was charging at him, taking the knife that he had acquired from the previous mare and plunging it deep into the underside of the stallion that had just charged him. The stallion dropped his weapon, before falling lifeless, as Blitz continued to dig the knife in deeper and deeper, making the raider suffer more and more, due to the pain. Although the raider was clearly dead, Blitz didn't stop, jamming the knife in and out of the raider, for taking everything away from the world that was good, making him stop instantly as he tried to remember what he could before the stone enveloped him.

Blitz didn't have his shield up, due to him stabbing the raider and needed to lower his shield in order to do so. A shot cracked through the air and made itself comfy within the chest of Blitz, making him scream out in pain, as Death worked his magic, acting as a type of protection around his vital organs, keeping him in fighting order and able to take more shots. Blitz felt the pain and felt the burn of energy as it surged through his body, like his blood was doing, making him feel more powerful than ever. Blitz opened his eyes and wiped a tear from his eyes, before charging his horn, not putting up a shield to protect himself, but allowing himself to take the full force of what the raiders had to offer.

Blitz let loose a huge bolt of energy, making little streams come out of it, zapping raiders that were on the far end of the spectrum and vaporizing them instantly, turning them into nothing more than dust. There was no blood, no skeletons, no body and no existence. It was almost like they were being teleported to somewhere else, but that was not what was happening to them. The spell was not one of Blitz’s and to be completely honest with himself, he didn't even remember casting the spell to begin with. All Blitz could recall was blinking and then there being a big ball of light blue magic there, almost as blue as his ears and horn, but lighter. The ball was more of a cyan colour, which was not exactly the magic aura that Blitz had. His aura was more or less dark blue, so why was the orb cyan coloured?

Another shot cracked in the distance, Blitz’s new friend and ally shot his sniper rifle at a raider in the distance, making his head explode, as the bullet penetrated through the mouth of the pony that he had shot. The raider seemed to be happy to help Blitz, but Blitz did have his suspicions on the raider, due to him being a raider, but also because Azure was mentioned, making him feel like he was too trustworthy to be true. What were the chances that it would have been a lie? Highly likely! Blitz was going to trust him for now, but he could be an enemy still, so Blitz was going to be careful around the raider.

Everything fell silent, due to all of the raiders either being dead or running away. Either of those options are ones that Blitz was happy with. The so-called friendly raider came up to Blitz and smiled at him, his weapon being on his back. The zebra looked at Blitz and saw that he was not quite right, seeing that he was angry for some reason, but also looking straight in his direction, making him feel like something bad was going to happen to him.

“Is everything okay?” The raider asked, no smile on his face, before Blitz shook his head and smiled. He nodded to the raider, before sticking his hoof out to the raider, almost like he wanted the raider to shake his hoof.

“Blitz.” Blitz stated, keeping his hoof extended for the raider to shake. The raider lifted his hoof and shook Blitz’s, before stating his name too.

“Zavier! So you’re this changeling that pegasus hybrid Azure was on about. He missed you a great deal dude. For the few moments that I was around him, your name always seemed to linger on his mind.” Zavier stated, losing his title as a raider as he walked a little backwards. Blitz somewhat trusted Zavier, but there was something that was a little weird about the entire situation that they were put into. Why did he go back to being a raider, when he could have stayed safe with Azure and the others? It made little to no sense at all, but Death was a little thoughtful about the entire thing, running his thoughts by Blitz. Zavier must have been a raider previously, but like so many others, like Zeke, Azure gave them a chance. The story did add up, due to what Zavier was doing now, but it was awfully odd that he would have wanted to become a raider again. Maybe it was to get some inside information and report it back to Azure and the rest of the group back at the settlement. It was an option, but Blitz really needed to find Azure and Roselight, due to all that had happened and that he had one of the last pieces for the artifact collection, but he was pretty sure that there were one or two more, but he didn't even know where to start looking.

Zavier looked back over in the direction of the ship and saw some ponies scouting about, giving them their chance to flee before they got spotted, which was exactly what Zavier was planning on doing, but he was waiting for Blitz to come with him. Blitz noticed this and ran away, in the same direction as Zavier was going. They both had the same idea, which was to get to the settlement again and meet up with the others. They both ran away in the direction of the settlement, hoping that they would have both found what they were looking for in that area, which was Azure.

Blitz took to flying, conserving his energy and being able to fly all day back to the settlement if it called for it. It didn't matter that it was turning dark around them, becoming the ever so treacherous night, but both of them didn't care. They both had the same objective and a need to see the ponies in the settlement again. Blitz had his doubts, but he knew that there was a chance that they would not be there anymore, but Blitz kept his hopes up, not knowing any better due to him being encased within stone for who knows how long. Blitz looked at the zebra who he was with and then wanted to ask him a question, but being scared about the actual time that he had been encased.

“How long has Sawtooth been dead?” Blitz asked, trying to bring up the topic of time. Zavier pondered that for a moment, before waiting on a confirmation from himself, counting the days that it took. It was a pretty long time ago, so Blitz gave him some time to think.

“I would say he died by Azure’s hooves around six months ago.” Zavier stated, seeing that Blitz had stopped, still flying but becoming motionless in the air, not moving forwards or backwards, making no progress towards the settlement that they were wanting to get to. Zavier felt a little bad, knowing that he had told him that he was encased in some type of stone, but didn't realise that telling him how long he was frozen for was going to be a bad thing. In his eyes, it was something good, because at least then, they would be able to understand what they missed out on, at least that was what he hoped for.

“We need to get there ASAP!” Blitz stated, grabbing the former raider and teleporting to somewhere near the settlement. They were right outside of the settlement after they teleported and Blitz could not believe his eyes, neither could Zavier, because the settlement was destroyed. Blitz walked up to the settlement, before he closed his eyes and began to think. He was not dead, but where could Azure have ventured off to, with the group he was with?
