Once upon a time, in the pony heavens, there lived a little demon colt. He served and bowed to Satan, his adoptive dad. This colt was unhappy with life, all the time. He never smiled. His duties as a demon were to spread mischief among the living ponies on Earth. He did not enjoy this job. He always longed to help ponies, instead of cause chaos among them. He wasn’t always a demon pony, he once lived with other living ponies on Earth. This was until both his parents died in Cloudsdale in a machine accident, operating the cloud production. His heart was filled with so much sorrow from losing his parents. That sorrow turned into anger, and he lashed out at others for it. Eventually, he gave away all his belongings to the people he once was angry at, and took a noose and descended into the pony heavens. When he saw God, he was so filled with anger that he shouted at Him,
“Why did my parents have to die? Couldn’t you have saved them?”

God’s answer was a kind smile, and he put a hoof on the shoulder of the small colt. But before he could get his words out, a sly demon appeared out of nowhere, in a red puff of smoke and whispered into the ears of the colt, in an ever-so convincing way. The evil figure resembled a regular demon, but much larger and had a stark contrast to the white haired, bearded figure named God. This once pony, turned monster, was Satan. His eyes were similar to that of a snake, and his hair was a grey mixed with streaks of crimson red. It is unknown what Satan said to the colt that day, but afterwards, the actions of the colt were disastrous. He became enraged, and lashed out at God. His heart was turning so black with envy of those who didn’t lose their parents, his baby blue coat started to turn dark red. His head sprouted horns, and his eyes went dead from the outside in. He had become a demon.

God could not persuade the colt, and eventually the colt followed Satan to Hell.
The colt spent the rest of eternity with his now-adoptive father Satan, among his demon brothers and sisters, who were other fillies who had been brainwashed by Satan into being his followers through the anger and resentment in their heart.
One day, the colt, who we will now call by name: Pepper, was sitting and thinking to himself, on a break from his demon duties. It had been centuries since he resented God and became a demon, and he barely remembered his life before he was a demon. All he knew was that he was once loved, once had a name, and now he was just another one of millions of demon soldiers for Satan.

“Why am I here?” He wondered. “I ended my life to escape this suffering, but it continues on.” He had faint memories of the small smile God gave him, and the deceptive one that Satan had on his face as he whispered into Pepper’s ear. As soon as he had entered Hell, he got the devil mark on his bottom, in place of his cutie mark that never did come in time for his death. He wonders what his special talent would have been sometimes. He comes to the conclusion that his special talent is to be destined to Satan. He thought, maybe I could escape this place. No demon ever came back from leaving Hell, and if they left they were presumed eternally lost. “Maybe if I leave, I will finally have peace.” Thought the young stallion. So he made up his mind, and began to fly. He flew through the dark clouds, the red mist, over the pools of fire and blood, and eventually found nothing but darkness. “Why am I not dead yet?” He thought, waiting every inch he flew for the moment he’d escape this world. Perhaps he would simply stop breathing and his heart would cease to beat once he reached a certain point. Or maybe what awaited outside the doors of Hell was something much more tortuous than that. Maybe a pile of snakes would wrap around his neck and strangle him until dead. Whatever it was, he was ready.

Suddenly, the darkness stopped. It turned to a bright, heavenly light. He looked down at his hooves, and found they were white as well. In fact, his entire body had been so consumed by this light that it was white from head to toe. Perhaps he had went blind to an extent. All he knew was that something was coming. He stopped flying, expecting to drop down into the white abyss, and found that he was floating. Suddenly, he felt an overwhelming spirit coming from deep inside his black heart; as if it was starting to turn white again.

Then, all at once, God appeared from the blinding light and the stallion was amazed at the heavenly appearance of God. His heart had been so full of envy last time he was face to face with God, that he didn’t really get to feel the energy that He emitted. It was like no other, blinding in the way that your heart can feel. Suddenly, he felt the urge to smile. Something he hadn’t done since his parents were alive. And so he did.

His body began to obtain color, and his horns dissipated right before his eyes, painlessly. His mane turned back to the color it was when he was alive, a peachy pink and a bubblegum color. His beloved bracelet given to him by his mother, tainted with red, turned white. His nose was a cream yellow once again, the only difference from his appearance so long ago and now was his coat. He, just like God, had the coat of white that shone with a heavenly glow. Pepper didn’t know what was happening, but he accepted it. God walked out of the light, and stood in front of Pepper. He didn’t need to say anything, but from the look on his face the stallion could tell that it read, welcome home.

Pepper soon learned he flew all the way from the depths of Hell to Heaven, and was soon greeted by his fellow demon brothers that had escaped Hell and flew to Heaven. They were not dead or missing at all, they were loved and more alive than he had ever seen them. He now did not bow to Satan unwillingly, but to God with grace. Pepper smiled all the time now, and he finally got to do what he had always wanted. He was a pony, turned demon, turned angel.
The best part of it all, waiting at the doors of his heavenly, eternal home was no other than his long gone parents. Waiting for him at the door with open hooves and a loving heart.
Pepper decided from that day forward, to never look back, to never let the chains of sadness and envy to encase him. He would stay in Heaven forever, eternally with his parents and God.
And Pepper’s heart, finally, was at peace.

The End
