Namely, that aliens did, in fact, not only exist, but were also capable of space travel. Moreover, they could either access hyperspace themselves or pull the Sundancer back to realspace via arcane means. This, she would not abide.
"Show me," Twilight commanded, her gaze hard.
With frantic motions, Blue Yonder backed away. "Transfer the feeds for the affected zones, and the exterior hull!" she shouted at an ensign. He, and all the others on the bridge, looked just as terrified as Blue did. And as the first images came through to Twilight, her face paled in dread understanding.
On the multi-storied promenade, amidst the storefronts, creatures rampaged. They were pony sized, but that was where the similarities ended. They leapt from the railings to crash onto levels below, climbed up the walls, and smashed through acrylic windows, screens flickering with static. Those pegasi not petrified at the sights before them could escape to the air, but others were not so lucky. Outside was no better. The Sundancer had, in fact, been dragged out of hyperspace, and numerous ovoid pods were embedded into her hull: dedicated boarding vessels. Floating before the stars was their source, another huge spacecraft. Inelegant, it looked cobbled together from spare plating with spit and tape, yet functioned nonetheless. Enough to bring senseless death and chaos back into pony lives.
Twilight would not, could not, allow this to continue. But rushing in without thought was a fool's choice. To save as many as she could, she needed help. "How many?" Twilight asked, resolute. "Are there any sectors clear?"
"I don't know! Too many, and probably not! They're pouring in from all over!" Blue exclaimed, out of her depth. Twilight didn't blame her.
It only took a second for her to issue her orders. "I'm authorizing full retaliatory force. Send guard battalion Alpha to Sector One. They must defend the engines and life support, or we'll have even bigger problems on our hooves. Battalions Beta and Gamma are to join me in subduing the threats and escorting as many as we can to their homes."
"Y-Yes, captain!" Blue saluted.
Without ceremony, Twilight shut off the call, returning the board to its resting white, the alarms still ringing. For the first time since leaving Equus, she felt helpless. Every moment she'd just spent could have been in motion, potentially saving lives that were now lost forever. But she had her power, and she had the knowledge to best apply it. Now that the Sundancer was back in the base plane of existence, and moving at a much slower velocity, a familiar spell was once more open for Twilight to use.
Her horn brightening, Twilight vanished in a burst of magic. She winked back into existence in the air, wings spread, above one of the pathways to the housing blocks, ponies scrambling for safety behind closed doors below her. Aliens loped in hot pursuit, a dangerous fixation in their stalk-toted eyes. A few of her armored protectors, those that had already been in the area, were fighting valiantly, ignoring toppled machinery they could have been using as cover to draw the aliens' attention. They hurled or airdropped stun grenades that exploded into spheres of crackling yellow lightning, knocking out any caught in the blasts cold. But there were too many civilians to protect, and the encroaching horde too large.
At least, it had been, until Twilight arrived. With a wordless battle cry and a grim countenance, she dove into the fray, sending out crackling whips of magic that wrapped around one alien after another like arcane bolas, tripping them up. At the same time, gusts of wind from her wings staged their charge, buying time for the guards, their morale raised by her presence, to aim their electrical projectiles with shouts of determination. Careful to avoid hitting the fleeing ponies, Twilight stuck to single-target attacks, her aim honed from years of unfortunately necessary battle. As she did, valorous mares and stallions in uniform dashed in to carry the wounded to safety. But for every alien she encased in a shield bubble, dive-kicked into a daze with her strength, or yanked from the polished walls with her horn, two more seemed to replace them. Thankfully, fewer ponies were being consumed, as they got clear of the fighting or were rescued, but the hostile beasts still slipped through the cracks in their wide defensive line, and some of the guards themselves were becoming prey. Not to mention the other areas of the Sundancer.
Twilight breathed heavily with exertion as she zapped three aliens in a row with one beam, knocking them into eachother. However, a sight out of place in the corner of her vision gave Twilight pause. One of the aliens had stopped moving within a storefront and had fallen to its knees, horror in its expression (assuming she was reading the unusual face correctly). From a second, much smaller mouth above the first, unnoticed by her until now, what could only be language emerged, the creature murmuring to itself.
Twilight was hesitant to extend an olive branch to a member of an invading, murderous force, but she was almost out of options, and if there was even a slim change of resolving things peacefully, she owed it to them to try. So, she stopped midflight, fluttering to a landing next to the despondent alien, and cast a translation spell. Its speech instantly resolved in her mind as a male's equish: "—have I done? What have I done?"
Twilight blinked in surprise, staring down at him as the melee raged on around them. "Hello there. You've stopped trying to eat my little ponies. And you... regret your actions?"
His eyestalks whipped to the side to face her, equally surprised. "I can understand you. I can—" Here, he paused for a long moment, realizing he'd been asked a question. "Yes, tall, foreign one. That was Kulal, who dipped into a bow on her opposite side. She never did figure out who taught him to defer to her that, but supposed it didn't matter. Their own government had collapsed with their sanity, and the Devourons had unanimously agreed letting Twilight rule was the best call a few days ago. By this point, all but one of the boarding pods had returned to their ship, leaving only a few to accompany Twilight and assist in patching the Sundancer's hull. Soon, though, she would be out of Twilight's hands.
Speaking of... "Are you sure you'll be okay, Flurry, taking over for me?" Twilight asked, the small colt leaving, replaced by one of her engineers. After listening to the unicorn's goodbye and well-wishes, Twilight continued. "I've placed you in an unfair position where you don't really have a choice."

As per usual, I've sent a copy of this letter to each of you. What is less usual is my current circumstances. Much has changed since I last wrote. For starters, we encountered a fellow spacefaring race, the Devourons! I've attached numerous pictures of them and other sights, plus plenty of informational articles, be sure to leaf though them. Though they approached the Sundancer with ill intentions, I was able to calm them down. They were in desperate straights, and their home planet is in far worse shape than ours, the lands and seas largely emptied of life. And, well, I couldn't in good conscience leave them to their fate, knowing I could guide them back into the light of harmony, especially after befriending thoughtful Kulal, kind Garnath, and others. They needed a provider, as well as a leader, and I had the skills and gifts be both. So, I decided to leave the Sundancer behind, placing her in the care of my excellent team alongside Flurry Heart. I have confidence that they'll be able to establish a flourishing new society with all I've taught them, even though I won't be there to see it.
I've since established myself as a fixture on the Devourons' world, Plane-Egg, for a few years now, having ridden there on their starship. It is wholly unlike Equus; only the Devourons themselves seem to have magic, a curious sort that compresses space inside their bodies. My arrival was met with open arms, and I've done much to re-nourish the earth and bring back their civilization from the brink. Billions had already perished in starvation, and much of their technological knowledge had been lost, but I was able to save millions of souls with my efforts and counsel. New cities have been built, and now that they don't have to scrounge for scraps or struggle to maintain order, they can pursue their passions in art and science again.
I sadly won't be able to leave to rejoin ponykind for a long while, as I'm kept quite busy running the planet, but I don't mind too much, as I can still keep in touch this way, and I'm by no means lonely or bored. I mean, yeah, the guys were coming to me anyway, so it wasn't a major problem, at least until the Sundancer touched down. Then I had to re-learn how to teleport. Still, I wish you could have seen the looks on all our ponies' faces as we entered the atmosphere and really saw their new home for the first time, probably would've appreciated it more than I did. Everypony was so proud to finally make it, fulfill the dreams of their ancestors. Well, their ancestors who weren't me, at least. The captain even named the planet after you; they're calling it Spark. There's no native life any larger than an amoeba, but the air is super clean, the waters are cool, and the sun is warm. It's like a hole in their hearts that hadn't known was there had been filled. While the farmers are busy tilling and planting, ol' Flurry is doing some plowing and life-seeding of her own, ha ha. I'm actually up to a thousand kids now, if you can believe that. Thank goodness for adoption and responsible stallions, am I right?
Back on topic, the Sundancer was disassembled, and the parts and stuff were used to build a city of the same name. There's way less pressure to deal with on solid ground, so I'm in high demand, which I'm not gonna complain about. And not just for the good time, though there's plenty in it for that. When I cum, it helps keep the crops alive, what with the soil being... not yet soil. I make it rain, as they say. Not as much as you do, apparently, but it's enough for the colts. I'm glad you're holding up, though. I might not show it, but I DO worry. I shouldn't have doubted.
