There once was a little filly sweeter than candy
With a smile that could make anypony feel dandy
Her coat was as blue as the azure sky
Catching the eye of anypony flying by
Her mane and tail where whiter than a sheet
Gaining the attention of all she may greet
With a voice that was softer than a summer breeze
With eyes of blue to make anypony freeze
As beautiful as she was, she had a disfunction
One that kept her from making a whole junction
Her eyes of blue were sadly shadowed grey
Making her unable to see what one would say
Or see the color of her own hoof
Let alone the one she had on her roof
It also left her wondering what the world looked like
If it was as soft as a mattress or as sharp as a pike
Or it was as beautiful as the wings of a swan
Or ugly as somepony using another as a pawn
This disfunction made her a target for others
Be it mothers, fathers, sisters, or brothers
They mocked laughed, and tore her down
Pushing her in water as if wanting her to drown
Ignoring her tears and her pleas to stop
Letting her fall as if she was a pebble to drop
Each and every night, she cried in her bed
Craving for a comfort she wanted to be fed
Something her covers could not seem to give her
Letting her tears flow out like a river
And stain the outlines of her beautiful fur
After crying from a moment, she wished did not occur
Every starry night, she looked out her room
Wanting to fly go up there on a broom
And wish for the one thing she always desired
One that she hoped would not be expired
The need to show them all and make them all see
That while she may be as fragile as a bee
She could be just as strong as them
And not the weak filly they tried to condemn
On all nights like this, she made this wish
One she thought that was clean as a dish
She wished, she hoped, she dreamed, would pray
That the stars above would light her way
And give her a path she hoped would stay
Then one day while she was at school
Working with snow she saw as a tool
She was given the chance to prove her worth
To bring it all out in a single girth
Like a mother mare in the trials of birth
Once away from school she began her task
The light from the night allowing her to bask
And allow her beauty to be seen by all
Even from the being as beautiful as she was tall
By the end of that night the filly finished her work
Holding it up with a bit of a smirk
Although unable to see, she could hear it clearly
Taking it in a hold that was just as dearly
And showing it to her mother so she could see
All while they discussed it over a cup of tea
The following morning, the filly stood proud
In between the colts and fillies in a crowd
In front of the wielders of the sun and moon
Both looking like they came out of a cocoon
As the sun princess spoke, the night princess chose to listen
As her mane, tail and are continued to glisten
Before her eyes locked right into the filly
Who looked at her with a gaze she thought was silly
That was the spark the little filly needed
And all others watched as she went and proceeded
Displaying her project for all to witness
Letting them see its beauty and fitness
She went into a speech as deep as the sea
Making all eyes go as wide as could be
All while the queens continued to gaze
Looking like they were trying to go through a maze
By the end of the speech, all where kneed deep
Into a heartache that made them want to weep
Including the infamous princess of the night
Something that would’ve made all gape at the sight
Before her sister could speak, the Night Princess took the lead
Her heart bearing an ache that made her want to bleed
And ask the filly to make another flake
A request that sounded sweeter than a cake
With a beaming smile, the filly agreed
Happy she found the attention that all would need
And with a laugh she mirthfully embraced her mother
Doing so that made all think she wanted to have a smother
That very same night, the filly had a dream
One that would’ve made one want to scream
She came face to face with the Princess of the Night
Who gazed upon her with a much clearer sight
Despite knowing she could not do the same
And see her do her very best to be tame
She thanked to filly for the gift she gave
Not really knowing how else to behave
In front of the one who’d soon be her friend
And take her on a journey she hoped would never end
As the years went by their bond continued to rise
Rivaling even the entire kingdom in size
They laughed, they cried, they fought and hugged
Sharing a love that could never be tugged
They shared in each other’s happiness and sadness
Unaware of the Night Princess incoming madness
One that would soon tear them apart
Doing so with the speed of a runaway cart
Soon, the Night Princess began to change
Acting like she had just gotten sarcoptic mange
The joy in her heart replaced with rage
One that could not be held by any caged
All thanks to those who hated and feared her
Seeing her as nothing but an incoming usurper
Further and further the Night Princess fell
Into a seemingly unending well
With nopony there to help pull her out
Not even the Snow Angel who was always up and about
No matter how much she tried to cry and beg
Even going so far as to offer her own leg
The Snow Angel could not get through to her friend
And fix the patch she tried desperately to mend
Then, the Night Princess finally snapped
Making all who were close enough feel trapped
As the darkness inside her pulled her in
Making her an enemy to her own kin
The Princess of the Sun tried all she could
To make her sister see all reason that she would
And bring her soul back into the light
And chase the darkness far away from sight
But the Princess of the Night was too far gone
To the point her rage could have forever went on
Entrapping all who were helpless to escape
Making them feel as if they were choking on tape
With regret in her heart, the sisters then dueled
Clashing with power that could never be cooled
All while the Snow Angel listened on her part
Feeling the battle wage deep within her heart
As quickly as it started the battle came to an end
And the Snow Angel tried desperately to find her friend
Only to by stopped by the Princess of the Sun
Who crushed her fears like a bullet from a gun
Saying her sister was no longer with there
Not in any other place no matter where
In the incoming years, the Snow Angel would morn
Filled with a heartbreak that was forever torn
One that nopony would ever be able to heal
Or be able to keep it in any type of seal
Although she was sad, the Snow Angel did not lay
Refusing to restart the game others liked to play
Remembering the promise that she made to her friend
One she’d ensure would never come to an end
Doing so with a will that refused to bend
As the years went by, she stayed true to her word
Making more flakes with the swiftness of a bird
Even as her mind and body continued to age
Going with the grace and gentleness of a mage
When the Snow Angel finally took her last breath
She made a final wish before passing on in death
A wish that she’d see her friend one last time
And greet her with a voice prettier than a chime
A thousand years passed and so did the change
Going in a seemingly endless range
With ponies growing, aging and passing
Doing so as if they were in one great massing
At least the Princess of the Night came back
Eager to see her friend and get back on track
And make up for all the time both had lost
While she lay on the moon feeling colder than frost
That hoped was crushed when her sister gave the truth
Giving her a gaze that was nothing short of ruth
Telling her that her dear Snow Angel was gone
Having passed on with the grace of a swan
This revelation crushed the younger sister
Making her wail as if covered in blisters
Bringing both rulers in a hug between sisters
As she mourned, the Night Princess could not even smile
One that seemed to be father tha a mile
A smile that could only be brought by her friend
That would soon meet her on a path few could trend
One night, the two friends met once more
Leaving the Night Princess shocked to the core
A shocked that soon turned into emotional joy
As if a filly had gotten her very first toy
The Night Princess pulled her friend into an embrace
Caring not for being regal or her grace
Letting her tears stained the fur of the mare
The only one who truly seemed to really care
As the dream went on the two shared a talk
One that could never be written with chalk
One of the good times, the bad times and the present
A talk that could tear the heart out of any peasant
As soon as it started, the bonding soon ended
The rift between them finally mended
Having given all the apologize they could give
With both wishing they could still truly live
With a final hug, the friends said goodbye
Both doing their absolute best not to cry
Knowing they would each other again once more
Be in the sky or on a beach shore
The Night Princess frowned as she watched her friend vanish
Into the snow that all seemed to banish
The very same snow that she held unlike no other
Like a wailing foal wanting the touch of its mother
Although she was gone, the Night Princess was not sad
For she was not torn, but instead she was glad
That she got to see her friend for one final time
Having made a wish like balancing on a dime
And regardless of long it took for her to pass
And her body to be buried far within the grass
The Night Princess did, and would now always know
That she would always have her Angel of the Snow
