Before him is an ancient, ornate, and very important door.
‘Today is the day’ he thought as he reached to grab the door handle, only to stop mere centimeters from grasping it.
‘No, what am I doing’ turning around he began to walk away, like the day before, and the day before He sighed before reaching into one of his pockets and felt the familiar grasp of the object he always kept on him.
‘I...today is the day’
Turning around he walked towards the door.
It was an ancient, ornate, and very important door.
He reached to grab the door, only to stop mere Inches from grasping the handle.
‘What am I thinking! this is insane just think of the consequences! I’d lose everything!’ He backed away from the door and began to walk away again.
‘But it would be worth it, wouldn’t it’ a small voice in his subconscious whispered.
He stopped again and looked back at the door.
He sighed and massaged his temple, how many times has he done this.
He used to visit this door every day, he would spend hours in front of the door, always praying. Yet slowly he began not to prayer, but speak of solemn and sad thoughts.
Then the visits became once a week, then once a month, and practically nonexistent.
It had been almost a decade since he last visited the door.
Hell, the entire purpose he was here was to open the door!
Turning around and puffing out his chest out he reached to grab the handle, he would open that door.

Any second now...any second…
“This right here is a prime example of how the great have fallen”
Whirling around, he was surprised to see his sister of all people here.
“Sister...what are you doing here?” he questioned as he reached towards his blade. She walked next to him, not caring about the fact his hand now rested firmly on the hilt of his blade. “The same as you,” she said staring into eyes before turning towards the door, “respecting the fallen”.
He let go of his sword, internally sighing, he too turned back towards the door.
“I know what you plan to do” she stated her tone blank as the look on her face that she always wore.
“I figured,” he responded.
“Why have you not done it yet, you have been here for the past hour”
“...”
“Are you truly that afraid of Alexander?” she said turning to look at him.
“...yes” he muttered out, not daring to look at her.
“Truly the great have fallen,” she said, walking away.

*vrrrrrrmmmmmmm*
The door hummed, and slowly the imagery on the door glowed a golden light as he gripped the handle. The sounds of hundreds of gears turning could be heard from the door and surrounding walls. As the gears turned the light on the door grew even brighter before dimming as the gears slowed.
*Click*
And just like that the door was unlocked and the runes protecting were disabled.
“Today is the day,” he said proudly, gone was the fear and there was a small growing sense of excitement.
With that said he pushed open the door.
He jolted awake, startled by the shaking of the train cart he was in, taking a few deep breaths he calmed as he remembered where he was.
"Just a dream" he muttered bringing one of his white colored hooves to wipe away the sleep from his eyes and yawned. Slowly getting of the seat he began to stretch his bones and muscles and couldn't help but yawn again.
*Yawn*
This yawn was not his, turning around he saw the familiar red coat of the other occupant of the room.
"Daddy..." The young Pegasus colt was barely six-years-old with a coat of red similar to fresh blood and his mane was pitch black mess.
"Oh, I'm sorry, did I wake you up my little merc" He said quietly walking up to the young colt and nuzzled him.
"No...*yawn* you didn't" he muttered, barely having escaped the grasp of sleep, "Crimson what am I gonna do with" he chuckled as he watched Crimson struggle to stay awake. Slowly but surely Crimson closed his eyes and resumed his sleep, Having stayed in place he slowly waited a minute before walking to the window of the cart room. Peeking through the closed blinds he was greeted with sight of miles worth of open pasture and farmland and from what he could see his travel was nearing its end.
Canterlot.
The ponies behind making the city must have had a few screw loose, because who in their right mind builds a castle hanging off a bloody mountain!
He let out a small, annoyed, sigh.
Bloody magic, honestly the topic of magic always ruffled up his feathers.
"Too much effort just to visit a doctor" he grumbled again as he let the blinds go and went to lay down onto the seat opposite of his son.
As sleep faded away he couldn't help but watch his son sleep.
After another minute or two he reached beneath the seat and pulled out his saddlebags and began to look through them, it took a few seconds to find what he wanted and pulled out the rolled up parchment and reread the details. "Noon...same place..." he muttered out the details before sighing, same time, same place, same everything.
He let out another sigh and looked at his son again.
He smiled slightly, the process may have been annoying but it was necessary for him, Crimson, his son.
"Gods, I'm a old man now, aren't I" he glanced beside him and smirked, It too stared at crimson. The only identifying features it had was the outline of a stallion and the constant flowing black flame that some how burned nothing.
"..." nothing but the slight crackling of fire.
"Hm, quite like always." he muttered as he weaved one of his hooves through his dull gold colored mane. Looking back towards it he saw it was gone, like it always did.
Looking back to his son he couldn't help but smile.
He may have lost everything and his life was filled with multiple annoyances, but it was worth it, oh so worth it.

This is my first MLP story and I do have some experience with writting, but I am not the best of writters. So you should not expect many updates that soon but I will try too.
