Author's Note

I sincerely hope you all enjoy this. I've had this idea in my mind since the beginning of 2020. I love the Sonic series, so I really wanted to do a story with Sonic in it.

This is based off of Sonic and the Secret Rings, a 2007 video game.

Chapter 1: A Familiar Face

"Ah. Equestria", Sonic said. "How I've missed this strange world." He zoomed over to the castle, where Princess Twilight Sparkle resided. He knocked on the door. Spike answered.

"Sonic?", Spike asked.

"Hey, Spike!", Sonic said. "Where's Twilight?"

"Spike, who is it?", a voice asked. Sonic beamed at the sound. Twilight walked over and had a shocked look on her face. "Sonic? Is that you?" She felt his quills.

"Hey, Princess. It's been a long time, hasn't it?", Sonic replied. He, Spike, and Twilight hugged.

"What brings you here?", Twilight asked.

"The World Rings from the Arabian Knights stories somehow winded up here. I have to find them before they fall into the wrong hands. Er, hooves", Sonic explained.

"Then you'll need some help. They could be anywhere", Spike said.

"Where's Rainbow Dash?", Sonic asked. "She's the only one who could keep up with me."

"She's training with the Wonderbolts", Twilight answered. Sonic used the Chaos Emeralds to turn into SuperSonic and flew off after bidding farewell to the duo.

At Wonderbolt Academy...

The Wonderbolts were in the locker rooms. Sonic entered. Rainbow Dash closed her locker door and saw the hedgehog. She zoomed over to him and wrapped her arms around him. Sonic returned the embrace. "What in Equestria are you doing here, old pal?", Rainbow Dash asked. The last time Sonic was in Equestria, he and Rainbow Dash went on a date. Now, they're in love with each other. In a way, they're perfect for each other.

"The World Rings from the Arabian Knights stories somehow winded up here. I have to find them before they fall into the wrong hooves", Sonic explained.

"Oh, boy. I played that game. Those Rings pack some serious firepower", Rainbow Dash replied with a grave expression on her face.

"Will you help me?" Sonic asked.

"You bet your blue fur I'll help you", Dash answered. However, unbeknownst to the lovebirds, a familiar villain was lurking.

"Well, well, well", the villain said. "If it isn't the speedsters known as Rainbow Dummy and Sonic the Rat."

"I'm... a... HEDGEHOG!", Sonic yelled. "I look nothing like a rat!" Rainbow Dash was horrified by what her rival said. The Erazor Djinn, the main antagonist for Sonic and the Secret Rings, called Sonic a rat.

"Those Rings could be crucial in my quest to destroy you!", Lightning Dust said. She zoomed off.

"She can't even find the Rings. She might've played the game, but she's not very bright", Rainbow Dash said with relief. Sonic kissed her head.

"Don't worry. We'll find them", Sonic said. "If we find one, then she can't find the rest." He took out a ring. "These puppies can teleport us anywhere. Now, if only I can find an engagement ring." Rainbow Dash blushed.

"Okay. You and Shahra found the Yellow Ring in the Sand Oasis, which is obviously a desert. Maybe Somnambula can help us out. Or maybe Ahuizotl. He knows more about ancient items than anypony else", Rainbow Dash said.

"Isn't Ahuizotl a bad guy who tried to usher in eight hundred years of unrelenting heat?", Sonic asked.

"Eh, whatever. Let's go", Rainbow Dash answered. Sonic threw a ring, creating a portal to Tenochtitlan Basin. The pair stepped through. "Ahuizotl? Hello?"

"So, what does this Ahuizotl guy look like- SWEET MERCY!", Sonic shouted. Ahuizotl emerged from a room.

"Hello? Someone there?", he asked. "Oh! Rainbow Dash! What brings you here?"

"Sonic needs to find the World Rings before my rival can. Have you seen anything strange falling from the sky?", Rainbow Dash asked.

"Hmmm... actually, now that you mention it, there was a meteorite-like object falling towards the village of Somnambula", Ahuizotl said. He noticed the glaring hedgehog looking around and poised for attack. "You alright?" Suddenly, the Sun was covered up. "Hey! Who turned out the lights?!" Lightning Dust appeared in front of the trio. "Cats, attack!" A tiger, a cheetah, a lynx, a panther, and a fussy white house cat appeared and attacked the villain. However, she was quickly able to knock them out.

"There's no escape from this place! Soon enough, you, that freakish creature, and that meddling rat will bow down to me!", Lightning Dust said. She zoomed off.

"No escape?!", Rainbow Dash said with distress.

"She underestimated me. This place is crawling with secret exits", Ahuizotl said. However, there was literally no escape. Lightning Dust had trapped the trio inside Tenochtitlan Basin. Sonic took out a ring and threw it. It created an exit. He and Rainbow Dash stepped through. "Go. I'll need to remove the lockdown." Sonic closed the portal.

"You're not going anywhere, you rat!", Lightning Dust said. She tackled Sonic and pinned him down. She repeatedly punched him.

"Stay away from my boyfriend!", Rainbow Dash shouted. Lightning Dust stopped. The two rivals circled each other. "I'll never bow down to you!"

"Oh, not just you. Your friends will obey me as well! The Yellow Ring will be mine!", Lightning Dust said.

"Not just anyone can possess the powers of the World Rings!", Rainbow Dash replied. She leaped at her rival, and the duo fought in the air.

"Time for some chaos", Sonic said. He activated the Chaos Emeralds and transformed into SuperSonic. Using the Emeralds' powers, he delivered a series of punches and kicks to the villain. Ahuizotl appeared and grabbed Lightning Dust with his tail.

"You underestimate my power", Ahuizotl growled. The Guardian threw Lightning Dust into oblivion. "What'd you do to tick her off?"

"She tried to manipulate me into becoming a reckless pony", Rainbow Dash answered.

"Well, that's not good", Sonic said. "We have to get to the village now. There's no doubt that Lightning will still try to kill us."

"The town's that way. Unfortunately, Daring Do won't be around to help us out. Come on", Rainbow Dash said. The couple left. "Why can't you use one of your rings as an engagement ring?"

"Because they're power rings. Only I can wield that kind of power, Sonic said.

"Oh", Rainbow Dash replied.
