Chapter 16 - Helping Private Jack

With a large explosion, the entrance to the store was destroyed. The ponies who were the closest to the door were blown back by the explosion.

With a painful grunt, Fluttershy was quickly recovered from the blast. But not Applejack though, since she stood in front of Fluttershy, taking more impact from the blast.

Using all her strength to move AJ behind cover. "Oh my goodness, Applejack are you alright?" Fluttershy asked while putting her hoof in front of Applejack's nostril. Fortunately, she was still breathing.

Fluttershy quickly glanced over Applejack body, checking for any injuries. She spotted wood splinters here and there, she tried her best to removed them. But some of them were too small to remove without proper tools.

Fluttershy searched her saddle bags for first-aid, and thankfully she prepared a first-aid kit before the journey. She searched all over the case, but no tweezer was found. She started to panic.

Meanwhile, the smaller rodents hid behind the giant mole rat. Chump was ready to tear anything that came through that entrance. But instead of that, they all heard loud noices, and horrible screams, then it all went silent.

Suddenly, they all heard footsteps, but only from a single source. Fluttershy gently put AJ down, and slowly hid behind the counter.

A single human, stood at the entrance. Upon seeing the human, Chump charged toward him. But, immediately stopped, he couldn't seem to hate this human. Instead, he couldn't help but to trust this man.

"Hey there big guy. Aren't you a cute and ugly fella." The human said, then he noticed the rat family behind. "Aww, and you have a family."

Fluttershy recognized that voice, "Mr. Zach, is that you?" she took a peak from the counter.

Zach heard a cute feminine voice calling him, he tried, I mean tried to look cool. And turned to the voice with his eyes closed.

"That's right lady, it is I-" he opened his eyes. "Oh my lord!"

Zach couldn't believe his eyes and ears. The cute voice came from a yellow creature behind the counter. He stepped closer to the creature, stared at the creature's big round eyes.

"Did you just talk?" Zach asked.

Upon seeing Zach's sudden advance, Fluttershy got spooked, squeaked and covered herself with her wings.

Zach realized he just spooked the creature. "Oh my God, I'm so sorry!" And tried to calm it down.

Zach squatted down, made himself looked small. "Don't worry, I'm not going to hurt you." he softly spoke.

Fluttershy was calmed by his voice and took a small peek between her feathers.

"Well, that's a good start." Zach thought.

Zach reached his hand out to the yellow creature. "Hi, I'm Zach. May I ask, was that you talking?"

Knowing that Zach meant no harm, Fluttershy folded her wings and reached for Zach's hand.

"Yes..."

"Oh my God! This is the most adorable creature I have ever seen." Zach's mind and heart were on the verge of explosion.

Zach couldn't contain his excitement, but try to remain cool. "I wonder how to call an angel like you?"

Hearing that specific word made Fluttershy upset, but to not be rude, she still answered.

"I'm Fluttershy..."

"Great work, Zach. Look at what you done." Zach thought. "I'm sorry. Miss Fluttershy, was it something I said"

"Angel is the name of my pet rabbit. I missed him so much..." Fluttershy started sobbing.

Zach didn't think once, he vaulted through the counter, and embraced Fluttershy.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to." Zach tried to comfort her, and started petting her mane.

"I know, and I don't blame you for mentioning it." Fluttershy returned a hug. "Thank you, Mr. Zach."

With that, Fluttershy stopped her sobbing, and Zach released her from his embrace. He finally saw what Fluttershy looked like. "If you don't mind... What are you?" he asked.

"I'm a Pony. And there's three kind of pony, Earth ponies, the unicorns, and yours truly," unfolding one of her wing for showcasing, "pegasus."

Zach looked a little bit confuse."Wait...Pony, as in miniature horse?"

"Kind of... To my knowledge, ponies and horses are different type of species. But from what I have learned after coming to this world of yours, these two are the same species." Fluttershy answered.

"Wait, wait... You're from another world? Not just an irradiated miracle?" Zach asked.

"Yes and no, my friend and I were sent here by a magical artifact. We are kind of on a quest." Fluttershy answered.

"You have a friend? Wh-" Zach asked while looking around and noticed an orange pony on the floor next to them. "What happened?"

"After I thought they killed you. Those meanies, the White Legs were about to break in. We were ready for a final stand, and suddenly, an explosion knock both of us back-" Fluttershy couldn't control her tears anymore, and started crying.

"I fucked up..." Zach thought.

"-but Applejack was in front of me. Ta- taking most of the impact for me..." Fluttershy finished, but not her crying.

"I- I apologize, it was me, I blew up the store's door." Zach felt a sense of guilt, hitting him like a powerfist to the face.

Fluttershy was stunned from what she heard. On one hoof, Zach did hurt Applejack. But on the other hoof, Zach wasn't intend to hurt them, he protected them from the White Legs, even it ended up also hurting them. She looked at Zach, and knew that he really was sorry about it, so she decided to let the inner conflict go.

"Mr. Zach...?"

"Yes, Miss Fluttershy?" Zach answered, still not dared to look at her.

"Can you help my friend?" Futtershy asked kindly.

Zach looked a bit shocked but also a bit happy. "Of course! I'll do anything to make up my mistake, but I'm not a doctor..."

"It's okay, Mr. Zach."

"Please, Zach is just fine."

"Likewise. Can you pull out the splinters on Applejack for me?"

"I can try, but do you know where they are?"

Fluttershy sat next to the unconscious Applejack, followed by Zach. Fluttershy pointed out the splinters at, and Zach carefully pulled them out with his nails, followed up by Fluttershy added salve on the wound. Some are on her front legs, her torso... and her hind legs. Zach couldn't help but noticed her mare bits.

Zach took a deep breath, "Take it easy... I have seen other animals' private parts, even humans'... This is pretty normal, just don't think to much about it."

"Umm, Zach are you alright?" Fluttershy asked, confused why he took so long to move on.

"I'm fine. Just point me where they are..."

Fluttershy pointed at a section near Applejack teats, Zach gulped and took a closer look. Indeed, there was a splinter there.

"I'm not a zoophile! I'm not a zoophile! I'm not a zoophile!" Zach concentrated and reached out for the splinter. He slowly reached for the splinter, carefully not to touch her sensitive spots. But his hand couldn't stop shaking, his vision started to blur. And...

"Stop!" Fluttershy put her hoof in front of Zach. "I think I see the problem."

Zach quickly removed his sight and looked at Fluttershy, he could see her face as red as an apple.

"Thank you, Zach. I can do the rest, but I need a tweezer."

"Oh, thank God." Zach pushed himself back away from the mares, relieved that he wouldn't develop a new fetish.

"Maybe we can try the Ranger Station next door, a Ranger Station must have medical supplies and tools in it." Zach tried his best to distract himself from the majestic sight of- "Stop!!!" He yelled in his mind.

"I hope so, but we can't stay here anymore. And I'm not strong enough to carry-"

"Fine!!!" Zach screamed. Scaring the crap out of Fluttershy and the rodents.

"I'll-" Zach saw the terrified Fluttershy curled up in the corner. "I'm sorry... I lost control there. I'll help carry Applejack."

Zach walked up Fluttershy, reached out his hand to her. "[Animal Friend]I'm so sorry. Please forgive my relentless behavior..."

Fluttershy uncurled a little and looked at Zach. She felt something that's weird about Zach, like there was some kind of aura that made him, unhate-able. She fully uncurled herself and reached her hoof to him.

Zach helped Fluttershy up, and carried up Applejack like a baby. Before they head out, Fluttershy almost forgot about the rodent family.

"Wait!" Fluttershy stopped.

"What's wrong?" Zach asked.

"The rats used to live in the ranger station, but was driven out by scorpions. Maybe you can also help them take back their home." Fluttershy suggested.

"Yeah, I can take on some scorpions, sure." Zach gladly agreed.

Fluttershy trotted toward the rodent family. "Pixie! Chump! I got good news."

"The human, Zach. Can help you take back your old home at ranger station." Fluttershy exclaimed.

"That's a wonderful news, this place is not safe with that big hole there." Pixie said.

"Great! I'll make those scorpions pay for what they did to my love." Chump said, carry Pixie's husband gently in his mouth.

"We are about to head out, come on." Fluttershy head towards the big hole in the front.

Zach was flabbergasted "You speak animal?"

"I do, it's my special talent." Fluttershy felt proud for that.

"And I thought I was The animal whisperer." Zach joked.

The group left for the Ranger Station.

"When you first came, I saw you speak to Chump, and he was not attacking you. Do you also like animals?" Fluttershy asked excitedly.

"I do. I consider myself an Animal Friend." Zach replied.

"Wow, which animal is your favorite?"

"I can't choose between raccoon and shoebill, but raccoon is my spirit animal. Raccoon it is." Zach said. "Does that make me a furry?" he thought.

"And I guess yours is rabbit, right? Angel if I recall." Zach asked.

"Yes, my Angel truly lives to his name..." Fluttershy said.

"Did he pass on?" Zach asked politely.

"No,no. He's still lives in my cottage in my hometown, Ponyville." Fluttershy said.

Back at Ponyville, Fluttershy's cottage. With the former owner gone, new flags were raised, a throne could be seen on the backyard. A new tyrant was born. Every animal that was under Fluttershy's care, served their new overlord... The devil bunny himself.

"I hope he misses me to." Fluttershy said with sorrow in her voice.

"If you take good care of him, I'm sure he does." Zach said.

"Thank you, Zach."

Just when the conversation ended, they have reached the front door of the ranger station. Zach gently put Applejack down at the front porch.

"Wait til I clear this place of hostiles, okay?" Zach said.

Fluttershy simply nodded.

But before Zach opened the door, something bit his pants. He turned to see the giant mole rat was the one doing it.

"What's wrong big fella?" Even Zach was animal's friend, he didn't speak to them.

"Flutters?" Zach turned to see Fluttershy was taking care of Applejack.

"Oh, sorry... What's the matter Chump?"

"He's not going in alone!" Chump said angrily.

Fluttershy turned to Zach. "He said you're not going in alone."

"No, I don't want to shoot him by accident, and scorpions are venomous, too dangerous to fight close on." Zach insisted.

"[Orange Speech Check]Chump, scorpions are venomous, too dangerous to fight with only bites. And he don't want any collateral damage. Let Zach take care of this, okay?"

"Fine! Can he at least cripple on of them? I really want them suffer, by my own tooth." Chump asked 'nicely'.

"[Red Speech Check]Chump, I know you're in pain, but this is not the way... Please, you have to move on." Fluttershy pleaded.

Chump was frustrated, struggled to give her an answer, but eventually. "[Success] *Sigh* You're right, I let my thirst for vengeance consumed me. I'll try my best to move on."

"Go on, without me." Chump went back to Pixie's side.

"Thank you." Fluttershy turned to Zach and gave him a firm nod.

Zach entered the ranger station, to his surprise, it's already cleared out. He went inside the rangers' bedroom, and found some of his and Mike's gear. "Wait, have we come here before? And where the hell is Mike?"

The rest of the group stayed outside, found it strange that no noise came from inside. And then Zach exited, and gave them a report.

"Apparently, this place was already cleared by me and my partner Mike." Zach scratched his head. "Well, come on in~"

"Everyone, it's safe to go in now." Fluttershy announced the good news, and got many cheers from the rodents.

The group entered the Ranger Station , the rat family were happy to be back, but not Chump, because he couldn't found his spouse body, instead, he found the remain of her skeleton. Chump wanted to explode with anger, but he promised that he will move on. Zach has already put Applejack on a bed in the ranger's bedroom, and found the medical supplies next to them on a small table. Luckily for them, especially him, they found a tweezers in there. Now he was by Chump's side.He recognized that it was a mole rat skeleton, smaller than Chump, and picked up the skeleton. Chump was agitated, and bit Zach's leg. But Zach didn't fight back, he simply looked at the mole rat with grief. And the mole rat realized what the human was trying to do.

Chump followed Zach outside, and he took out a shovel from his bottomless backpack, and started digging. Chump simply laid beside his wife's remain, and when Zach has done digging, he put the skeleton in the hole, and buried it. At last, he make little mound at her grave.

Chump repeatedly nodded at him, "It's no big deal." Zach said.

Chump decided to lay beside her wife grave, and Zach respect the mole rat and left him in private. He returned to the Ranger Station, and he saw Fluttershy pulling out the rest of the splinters around Applejack's sensitive area and added salve from her own first-aid kit. He sat on the chair right next to them, and thinking about his next move, finding Mike.

But the little moans from Applejack when ever Fluttershy pulled out a splinter, kind of distracted him. He decided to plan outside. But before that, he decided to ask Fluttershy one more question.

"Umm, why are you locked in the General Store in the first place?"

"Oh, because Tom told- TOM!!!"
