On the surface, Canterlot is an Equestrian hotbed of wealth, fashion, intelligence, and prosperity, but hidden deep inside the shadows of its various long forgotten alleyways and tunnels is a harsh reality based solely upon survival and the will to live. Food is scarce; warmth is fleeting, and hope grows fainter with each passing day.

It is in this unforgiving society that a small band of foals consisting of a kirin, a bat pony, a deer pony, and a changeling formed. Outcasted, rejected, and abused by society, these foals grew up knowing nothing more than the bitterness of life as street-rats. Little did they know that a chance meeting would alter and revolutionize their worlds forever.
