The full moon was in the sky of Equestria, there were many stars and even had constellations. Many ponies went to their homes to eat and then sleep, others went to eat but to stay awake. For Twilight Sparkle it was the second option. She had just arrived at the Friendship Castle after a long day solving friendship problems in Equestria. The problem that Twilight Sparkle had to solve was two feuding clans, which became enemies after a fight. But she wasn’t alone, Fluttershy went with her. And Twilight and Fluttershy were able to unite the clans again.
She planned to have dinner now, as her marefriend Princess Luna would come to her castle to relax after a long day of politics in a few minutes. Twilight Sparkle closed the castle door and went to her room to store her backpack. Spike hadn’t arrived yet because he was with Rarity and would come back only later. So maybe she could make a sandwich while Luna didn’t arrive.
Twilight Sparkle opened her bedroom door with her magic, she put her backpack on the floor and took everything out. Inside were snacks, several books and blankets. She had an idea. Twilight Sparkle could eat the snacks they had brought, as she and Fluttershy hardly ate during their friendship mission.
Twilight Sparkle took the snacks out of her backpack, there were sandwiches, apples and cookies. She decided she was going to eat sandwiches in the living room, but first she was going to keep the apples and cookies in the cupboard. It was Spike who made the snacks. When she got to the kitchen, she went to the cupboard, opened it with her magic and put away the apples and cookies. That done, she took the opportunity to get a plate and went to the living room to eat.
Upon arriving in the living room, she sat down on a chair, placed the plate on the table on the table and began to eat. She and Luna would dance Ballet to relax after a long day.
She had asked to Rarity make a ballerina outfit for her. But Twilight just hoped she wouldn’t dance wrong, resulting in Luna breaking up with her. Just thinking about Luna breaking up with her made her sad.
Suddenly, she heard the sound of a door opening and closing. Twilight Sparkle looked back. Was it Luna? It couldn’t be Luna. If it were Luna, she would knock on the door, she wouldn’t come in straight.
“Twilight, I’m here,” Spike approached Twilight and saw her eating. “How did you solve the friendship problem in the Smokey Mountains with Fluttershy?”
“Me and Fluttershy had some problems in the end because the ponies were fighting, but we both managed to get Grampa Fills and Pies Macot to make peace with each other and get along,” replied Twilight Sparkle.
Spike smiled. “Good, Twilight. Well, I’ll see if there are red rubies for me to eat.”
Twilight Sparkle watched Spike get out of her sight. When the dragon entered the kitchen, she went back to eating.
After she finished eating, Twilight Sparkle went to her room, intending to practice her steps. When she got to the room, Twilight Sparkle started looking for her phonograph. But she stopped when she saw him on the side table on the left side of the bed. The luck is that she had already put the CD with a classical ballet song on the phonograph well before she was called by the friendship map.
Suddenly, she heard knock in the door. It wasn’t in the bedroom door, but the castle entrance door. Twilight Sparkle ran to the door to answer. She opened the door with her magic and smiled when she saw who it was.
“Luna!” Twilight Sparkle hugged Luna with the front hooves.
“Twilight!” Luna hugged Twilight back. “Are we ... I mean, am I late?”
Twilight Sparkle came out of the embrace. “No, Luna. You can go in.”
Luna did as Twilight Sparkle asked. Twilight Sparkle closed the door and went to Luna. “So Luna, are you ready to dance?”
Luna looked at Twilight Sparkle with a smile. “I sure am, love. And you?”
“I am also ready. Even though I’m a little nervous about ending up dancing wrong…” Twilight Sparkle’s ears were down. Twilight seemed a little insecure because she feared she would mess up and Luna would get mad at her and the princess would stop being her marefriend.
Luna, noticing this, hugged Twilight Sparkle with a wing. Twilight Sparkle blushed a little when feeling Luna’s wing. “Don’t worry. I won’t be annoyed if you don’t dance well. Our intention is to dance to relax after a long day, not to dance in a theater.”
The insecurity seemed to be gone. “Is that so, Luna? So you won’t be mad at me resulting in breaking up with me?”
Luna was surprised by what Twilight said. “What? No, never. I’m not going to break up with you just because you’re not good at something. If dancing is not your forte, I will be supporting you to improve even more.”
Twilight Sparkle smiled. “Thank you, Luna. Thank you for always supporting me.”
Luna smiled back. “You’re welcome, love.”
Twilight Sparkle and Luna arrived in the room. Luna looked around. Although she has already come to the room to prevent Tantabus from causing nightmares, she never had a chance to look at the room. Luna looked to the right and saw a telescope. The same telescope that Twilight had at Golden Oka’s Tree Library. Seeing this telescope reminded her of when Twilight Sparkle was just a Unicorn. It left her with nostalgia.
Twilight Sparkle and Luna went to the left side of the bed, which was where the phonograph was. Luna was surprised. “Do you have a phonograph?”
Twilight Sparkle looked at Luna. “Yes, Luna. I took him to Canterlot so I could dance at my birthday party.”
“Are we going to start dancing now?” asked Luna.
“Not yet. I have to put on my ballerina outfit,” replied Twilight Sparkle.
“Do you have a ballerina outfit?”
“Well, Rarity made me an outfit. Does that count?”
“I think so, love.”
“Could you excuse me to put on my tutu and ballet shoes?”
“Sure, love.” Luna left the room.
Twilight Sparkle closed the door. And began to dress. The tutu and ballet shoes were white. The waist of the tutu was yellow. When Twilight Sparkle put on her tutu her wings were spread out. Then she put on her ballet shoes and bunned her mane. When she was finished, she looked at the door. “Luna. I’m ready!”
Luna entered the room and was delighted with the outfit that Twilight Sparkle wore. “Love, you look beautiful!”
Twilight Sparkle blushed. “Thank you, Luna. Do you really think?”
“You’re welcome, Twilight. And to answer your question, yes. I think so.” Luna approached Twilight Sparkle as she closed the door with her magic.
Twilight Sparkle seemed to have blushed even more. She smiled as she lifted a hoof. “Well, shall we start? Are you going to wear a tutu or ballet shoes?”
Luna was confused. “No. Why? Is it really necessary to be dressed to dance ballet?”
Twilight started to think. “Well, ponies wear tutus and ballet shoes to dance ballet. But if you don’t want to use it, I won’t force you.”
Luna looked concerned. “Twilight, I never danced ballet before.”
“Don’t worry, Luna. I’ll show you the five ballet positions first and then we’ll dance together.”
Twilight Sparkle approached Luna. “You’re ready?”
“Yes, Twilight,” replied Luna.
Twilight Sparkle tried to stand on two hooves. But she failed and fell to the ground, because it had been years since she took a ballet class. Luna went to Twilight to help her. “Love? What was this?”
Twilight Sparkle looked at Luna. “I was trying to stay on two hooves to make the first position. Luna, how am I going to do the ballet steps without being on two hooves?”
“Would you like me to hold you, love?” asked Luna.
Twilight Sparkle was uncertain. “But Luna, you can’t do the ballet stretches by holding the ponies’ hooves!”
“But how are you going to teach me ballet stretches if you keep falling?”
Twilight Sparkle was undecided, she didn’t know what to do. At the same time she wanted help from her marefriend, but she also didn’t want help so she could do the position. “I think I’m going to try to stand on two hooves, if I don’t make it, you hold me.”
“OK, love.” Twilight Sparkle got up and tried to balance herself on two hooves. She was swinging her front hooves while she was fighting to keep from falling on her butt. She started walking forward, until she succeeded. Twilight blew out a sigh of relief.
“Now, we can start,” said Twilight Sparkle.
Luna touched something. “Wait. Do I also have to stand on two hooves?”
Twilight Sparkle realized what Luna meant and was nervous. “Er... yes?”
“But I’ve never walked on two hooves before,” said Luna.
“Would you like me to hold you?” offered Twilight Sparkle a hoof.
“Yes.” Luna picked up the Twilight Sparkle hoof to stand on two hoof. Luna managed to keep her balance, although a few seconds ago she thought she was going to fall due to almost losing her balance.
“Love, don’t you think it would be better if we skipped the five ballet positions and started dancing ballet?” asked Luna. She wasn’t angry or impatient with Twilight, the princess of the night was just thinking that the part they were looked very complicated, especially for Luna.
“But Luna, I read in a book that before dancing ballet we need to do the five warm-up positions before dancing. We need to do it. It’s in the book.” Twilight Sparkle made a book appear. The book was open with a figure of five ponies doing the five ballet positions.
“Love, I respect that you like to follow what’s in the book, but can’t we skip that? Please, for me.” asked Luna, but it sounded more like pleading.
When Twilight Sparkle heard the last sentence. She felt that her brain stopped working. She didn’t know what to do. Should she continue to urge them to follow the book? Or should she give Luna a discount?
“So love? We can?” asked Luna, noticing that Twilight Sparkle was quiet.
Twilight Sparkle started to think. She wanted to follow what the book was saying, because after all, if it was written, it was because what should be done in ballet. She looked at Luna and noticed that Luna was making a puppy face. Luna was really desperate to skip that part of the ballet. But Twilight Sparkle started to imagine a scenario where she had denied Luna’s request and Luna was angry, but so angry about her denying that she left the castle and stopped being her marefriend, forever. She made her decision. But she hoped to Fausto wasn’t making the wrong decision.
“OK, Luna. We can skip that part. ” Twilight Sparkle made the book about ballet disappear.
Luna’s puppy face changed to a big smile. ”Thanks! Thank you, love!”
“Luna, the voice,” said Twilight Sparkle with a smile, struggling not to laugh.
Luna realized her mistake. “We’re sorry... I mean, I’m sorry, Twilight.”
“It’s okay, Luna. Now, shall we start dancing?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
Luna’s sad expression changed to a smile. “Yes.”
“Are you ready?” asked Twilight Sparkle, to be sure.
“Yes. I’m.”
“Be careful to not fall, okay?” said Twilight Sparkle, afraid Luna would tip over, resulting in her falling to the floor too.
“My love, I will try hard to not let you fall,” said Luna, determinedly.
Twilight Sparkle stood on four hooves again and approached the phonograph to start playing music. A song started playing. “Come on.”
When Twilight arrived in front of Luna, she stood on two hooves and lifted the two front hooves. Luna held the two Twilight hooves while the lavender Alicorn raised the rear hoof while moving it to the left, Luna moved to the right and did a spin, but not so fast. Luna held on to the waist of Twilight Sparkle’s tutu, while walking and holding her marefriend on top of her, Twilight Sparkle moved a hoof. Luna placed Twilight Sparkle gently back on the floor.
Afterwards, Luna did the same as before, only to the left this time. Luna released Twilight and took a few steps back, while Twilight did the same before they embraced. Luna held the Twilight Sparkle hoof, while Twilight lifted a front hoof from the left. Luna caught Twilight Sparkle around the waist again while Twilight had the rear hoof raised. Luna lifted a front hoof while holding Twilight’s hoof, so that the lavender Alicorn would carry her neck close to the ground as she spun.
After spinning, Luna and Twilight Sparkle took a few steps back, of course Luna didn’t release Twilight Sparkle. When they stopped, Luna took her by the waist and led her to the left part of the room. Luna took Twilight Sparkle again, and did what she had done before. Twilight Sparkle took a delicate turn. Luna caught Twilight and took her twice to the right and Twilight took a delicate turn again. Luna moved away from Twilight Sparkle, while Twilight Sparkle followed Luna on the tip of her sneakers. Luna stopped and sat on her knees. Twilight Sparkle lifted a front and rear hoof while Luna lifted a front hoof.
When the music stopped, Twilight Sparkle and Luna stopped making positions and went back to walking on four hooves. Luna was nothing more than surprised. Did she manage to dance on two hooves?
“Did I… did I manage to dance on two hooves?” asked Luna.
“Yes, Luna. You did it,” replied Twilight Sparkle, with a big smile.
Luna looked at Twilight Sparkle. “But how?”
“Luna, I believe that your self-confidence and determination to not drop me helped you not lose your balance on both hooves,” replied Twilight Sparkle.
“You know Twilight, I never imagined that ballet dancing would be so much fun,” said Luna.
“I know,” Twilight Sparkle had an idea. “Hey! How about if we dance ballet tomorrow in the night?”
“I think it’s a good idea.”
“Luna, are you going back to Canterlot to sleep?” asked Twilight Sparkle.
“Yes. Why?” replied Luna, confused.
“Is that I like I would have to have a company to sleep with me today.”
Luna had an idea. “I can sleep with you today, if you want.”
Twilight Sparkle was excited, but her expression soon changed. “I will not bother you?”
“Imagine, love. I will send a letter to Celestia saying that I will stay with you.” Luna brought out an ink, parchment and quill.
Twilight Sparkle watched Luna write. When Luna finished, she made the ink and feather disappear, rolled up the parchment and went to the balcony and used a fire spell to send the letter.
Twilight Sparkle approached Luna. “Luna, did you have dinner before you came here?”
Luna looked at Twilight Sparkle. “Yes, Twilight. As I always wake up after the end of a day, I always wait for Celestia to lower the sun first so I can raise the moon and put on some stars and even constellations, so I go to the dining room to eat.”
Suddenly, the bedroom door opened, revealing Spike. Spike smiled when he saw Luna. “Ah. Hi, Princess Luna. Do you plan to spend the night here?”
“Yes, Spike,” replied Luna.
“Would you like me to prepare the bed for Luna, Twilight?” asked Spike, now looking at Twilight.
“You don’t have to, Spike. She is going to sleep with me.” Luna kissed Twilight Sparkle’s head sweetly.
“OK. If you need me, just call me. I will be in the living room.” Spike left, but left the bedroom door open.
Luna and Twilight Sparkle looked at each other. “Would you like to watch the stars with me, Luna?”
“Yes, love.” Luna and Twilight Sparkle went to the balcony and sat on their hips to watch the night sky.
Luna looked at Twilight Sparkle and couldn’t help but agree that she loved dancing ballet. Although she didn’t know how to dance ballet at first, Twilight Sparkle taught her. She hasn’t learned how to do ballet warm-ups, but who knows, maybe one night Twilight Sparkle will teach her what ballet positions look like?
