How Equestria Was Made
By Donut7 (aka Animeteor)
Equestria wasn't always what it was. Back then, it wasn't a strange, magical land full of smart, colorful talking ponies. It wasn't the world that you, the reader, know of (since you watch MLP). It wasn't even called Equestria. It used to be a planet called Earth.
This Earth was similar to the Earth that you, the reader, know and hear about. But there is a certain difference between this Earth and the Earth that you are familiar with, and that is in this Earth, humans already discovered magic, they just don't know how to use it properly yet.
So they decided to experiment.
Humans had been experimenting with magic for centuries. They experimented on animals, creating hybrids. There were some successful ones, that led to the creations of creatures such as dragons, griffons, and the first and only draqonequeus (you know who that is).
One day, they decided to try something different. They were going to experiment on a pony.
A pony is nothing new for an animal. For thousands of years, they were used as means of transportation, and they were very common in this world.
Because of this, humans decided to experiment on this animal instead of the rarer and more valuable animals (and because they were too lazy to choose a second option). A lot of the humans at he time were incredibly lazy (because of the technology they created at the time).
They also weren't going to make a hybrid out of a pony. No, they were going to test it out on magic. They haven't tested out magic on a pony yet, which made this idea a bit interesting.
Humans wanted to see what magic would do if inflicted on a living being. So they tested it out on a pony.
But they needed a way to gain access to magic. So the humans built a beacon that extracts magic. It's used to extract magic from the sky, since humans thought magic was found in the sky.
The beacon was eventually completed after a decade. Once it was finished, all the humans have to do is grab the essentials.
They caught 2 ponies, one white pony and the other black, who were fillies at the time. They were sealed in a capsule, and they weren't even the most important puzzle piece in this set. No, the most important part was the already extracted magic from the beacon that the humans will use on the ponies.
The day came.
Subject Pon3, the name of the duo of ponies that were going to be experimented that day. They were taken out of their capsules, and were transferred in a high security chamber, where the experiment took place that day.
The beacon had tubes attached to the chamber, so that when the machine is activated, the magic will go from the beacon to the chamber. That's what the humans speculated, anyway.
But it failed somehow. Why? Let me explain.
The beacon extracted all of the magic, not only from the sky, but also from the vast and rich land, and from the great and enormous sea too. This also caused the weather to go haywire.
Needless to say, it failed, because there was too much magic to handle. When the machine was activated, some of the pipes broke, making some (wait no, MOST) of the magic break free. For the pipes that survived the pressure of the magic, the magic blasted through both the ponies and humans, causing them to be infected with magic, and the chamber was destroyed due to the extreme pressure. It spread through the entire world, affecting every animal, in a vast of colors. Some animals were so greatly affected, they completely merged with the humans, causing them to have some human characteristics, like talking and having human-leveled intelligence. Some weren't affected at all. There were also new creatures because of the magic, like the timberwolves. There were also new plants and diseases. It was like the world reset and begun anew.
The humans attempted to escape, but it was too late. The damage was already done. Every animal, creature and human were affected by the magic explosion, and buildings were damaged, some even completely broken.
The effects were shocking. The world was completely altered, including the animals, plants, land and body forms. Hybrids were made because of the magic. Some human-pony hybrids also merged with horned animals, creating what we know as unicorns. Some merged instead with flying animals, creating pegasi. Some were merged with very strong animals, creating earth ponies. They learned how to use their magic, that's why unicorns can cast spells using their horn, pegasi can fly, and earth ponies are very strong and can tend to the land.
You know what happened to Subject Pon3?
They merged with those three types of animals, becoming what we know as alicorns.
Who were they?
They were Celestia and Luna, the two ponies who will eventually become the rulers of Equestria.
And the technology that was used throughout MLP:FiM?
They were created by humans in the past.
And that draconequeus, what happened to him?
Since he was very near the beacon when the magic explosion happened, he was the most affected, and he gained so much magic, which made him one of the most powerful beings. The power corrupted him, and he became the villian that you knew since the Season 2 premiere.
By the way, why are the creatures so colorful?
The magic not only gave them special abilities, but also altered their color (the magic was rainbow colored, and it can change the color of any creature that it affects).
The three races (uni, pega, earth) seperated after the magic explosion, so the world wasn't called Equestria immediately after that. But they united centuries (maybe millenia) of years later.
But the story of how the three races united and how Celestia and Luna eventually became the rulers of Equestria is a story for another day.
End.
Author's Note
Finally! It is done! My first fanfic!
I just thought of this based on a theory I made that ponies used to be humans.
