A Secret Surprise

"I really can't thank you two enough for doing this for us," Pinkie, the usually chipper and energetic party pony said, looked absolutely exhausted. The bags under her eyes made this perfectly clear.

Pumpkin smiled sweetly at her as she gave her a brief hug, "it's no problem, really! You deserve a break! Especially after all of that work you put in for Hearts and Hooves Day. And besides!" She reached up plucking a clingy yellow colt off of Pinkie's back, much to his protests. "Lil' Cheese is practically family! We'd love to watch him for a weekend!"

Lil' Cheese huffed, his arms crossed and cheeks puffed out as he got set down on the cool floor, looking up at his mother and whining. "But mooooooooom?!"

She gave him a guilt-ridden look, she went to say something before Cheese Sandwich came down carrying a bright yellow suitcase with Pound Cake following just behind with one that was as pink and party themed as Pinkie. "Honey..." Cheese gave a stern warning, despite the caring look he had on his face, walking over and picking Lil' Cheese up, throwing him up in the air and catching him in a huge hug.

The young party colt couldn't help but squeal and giggle happily as he hugged his father back.

"Now you know your mom and I have been planning this for a while~ She needs a break and we could use some alone time kiddo." He set him down on his hooves, ruffling his bright pink mane which sprang back like rubber afterwards. The frown growing on his face again.

"Maybe we should-" Before Pinkie could even muster so much as a compromise in favor of Lil' Cheese, Pumpkin had put her hoof up to Pinkie's mouth. "Nuh uh, you two are going on a sweet romantic getaway! So don't even try it!"

Pound had walked up, picking up Lil' Cheese and setting him on his back. "Ya, don't you worry about him, he'll be fine!~ Besides it's only a couple days."

Cheese Sandwich smiled a bit, knowing the twins would be more than prepared to handle it, mostly only being worried about how Pinkie will be the entire trip, worrying over their son. He picked up the suitcases, quickly nudging his wife. "Let's not miss the train sweetie, he'll be fine, Pumpkin said she had a special day planned for him today!"

Those words sparked Lil' Cheese's interest, looking over to Pumpkin expectantly, the smirk on the unicorn's face enough to confirm it to be somewhat true.

Pound had looked over curiously, wondering what his sister could have possible planned. They had already agreed to take him a day each, her taking first shift while he watched over the store and then swapping for the next day. Of course they wouldn't have to worry about the following day as much since the store was closed and his parents would be home late that night, but this gave them each time to focus on keeping Lil' Cheese entertained.

But the thing is, they never told eachother what they had planned, and now Pound was curious since it was clearly 'special' enough to talk about it. He didn't even know what he was going to do besides some video games and maybe whatever Lil' Cheese wanted to do.

Pinkie smiled a little seeing the excitement coming from her little fluff ball, "okay okay, fine. As long as he enjoys himself I think he-... I, will be fine~"

After one, rather long, hug and a flurry of kisses, Pinkie was finally pried off her son by a combination of a Pumpkin's magic and her husband pulling her towards the door. When the bell to Sugar Cube Corner rang and the store quickly fell back to relative silence, Pumpkin couldn't help but aww at the cute colt waving bye to his parents in the tinted windows.

Pound looked over to his sister curiously, "so whatcha got planned that's so special anyways?"

Pumpkin smirked, looking back at her brother, sticking her tongue out slightly before bopping his nose. "None of your business~ It's a secret, and I'm expecting me to be the favorite after all this is done!~"

While Pound and Pumpkin got along rather well growing up, they were still siblings, and because of that they were rather competitive with one another. One thing they had competed on in secret was seeing who Lil' Cheese liked more. It was nearly impossible since he was such a sweet colt and always seemed to like anypony who was nice to him, but that doesn't mean both of the twins didn't THINK he favored one over the other.

"Good luck with that!" Pound said mockingly, his wings flaring up a bit as he talked back in a whisper, "ever since I let him play the new hoofstation game I got I've been the favorite!~" The still ever smug look coming from Pumpkin was enough to make Pound falter briefly, "y-you didn't get him a hoofstation did you?!" He was barely whispering at her, not wanting the colt to overhear.

Pumpkin only giggled at this, shoving her brother. As funny as it was to mess with him, she had plans. "It's. A. Se. Cret. And you need to get started on the morning pastries bro~"

Pound's eyes went wide as he looked over to the clock, seeing it was only a half hour before opening. Oh crap! Muttering a brief curse to himself as he ran off in a panic to the kitchen, Pound couldn't help but forget about whatever master plan his sister had at that moment, the clutter of baking sheets and pans coming from the kitchen as he scrambled to get the morning orders ready.

She smirked triumphantly before she trotted over to Lil' Cheese who was now looking out of the window with his ears tucked back a little in disappointment.

Oh gosh he's so precious!~ "Cheeeese~~" She half sang as she stuck her head between his back hooves, lifting her head up into his tummy so he rolled onto her back with a squeal.

Cheese was quickly flung from his sadness as he felt the soft coat of Pumpkin against his back, giggling softly as he sat up clutching to her soft curly orange mane. She started heading out of the storefront side of the building with him holding closely, getting excited. "What are we doin' today?!"

Pumpkin smiled sweetly as she walked into her room, picking him up in her magic and setting him down on her bed. Her body tingled as she giggled to herself, shutting her door as she looked back at the eager colt on her bed. "Oh you'll see~~"
