//-------------------------------------------------------// Straight Into Her Arms -by Tormidal- //-------------------------------------------------------// //-------------------------------------------------------// The Night Before //-------------------------------------------------------// The Night Before A/N: First of all, I'd like to thank you for reading my story. This is my first fan fiction...well...ever. I would appreciate ANY criticism you could give.(The only thing I was worried about is rambling..heh.) Enjoy! (enter generic disclaimer statement here) “Now hush darling. You know I can’t work with you sobbing away like that.” Rarity scored the crying Twilight Sparkle, who had actually just ended her relationship with Princess Luna. “But Rarity, I don’t even want to go to this Masquerade Ball.” Twilight insisted, however to no avail. “Twilight, I threw this entire ball together to try to make you feel better. Who knows, you may find a new special somepony there.” Rarity retorted, trying to hide her own frown. It was bad enough to see Twilight like this, but what if she was to find somepony, only to have her heart broken…again. Twilight sighed and put her head on her crossed hooves in defeat. It was no use arguing with the social butterfly that Rarity was. It wasn’t also wasn’t something a friend like Twilight would do, refusing to go this ball, in which Rarity invited friends from all over Equestria. Maybe she could find a nice city pony from Manehatten or Baltimare…. “Ah-ha!” Rarity interrupted Twilight’s train of thought, “Come over here, would you dear? I just must see this on you before tonight.” She requested. Twilight grumbled something unintelligible as she walked over to Rarity, who eagerly threw the dress over her and made some last minute adjustments. “Oh it looks so wonderful on you Twilight! Go admire yourself in that mirror…of course, I do still need to make a mask for you, don’t I? It is a masquerade ball…” Rarity answered her own question, talking to herself about design and getting it to correlate with the dress she so generously made for Twilight. "Wow Rarity. This dress is amazing. You really do spoil me too much." Twilight complimented. Hopefully Rarity didn't notice the sad tone in her voice. Upon further thought, Twilight did come to think that the dress was rather nice, and it would look great on her tonight at the ball. "Of course it is Twilight, I designed it especially for you." Rarity responded cheerfully from the other side of the room, who was entirely too busy working on the mask to go with Twilight's dress. "Maybe I will find a new special somepony tonight at the ball." Twilight muttered to herself, looking out the window as the withdrawing sun. Princess Celestia, co-ruler of Equestria strode down the marble hallways of the Canterlot Palace towards her sister’s private quarters. “Luna! I have something to show you!” Celestia said cheerfully as she entered Luna’s simple bedroom. It was circular, slowly closing off as you went higher off. It was much more of a dome than a normal room. The floor was covered in a single, custom made dark-blue rug, befitting of the Princess of the Night. The walls were painted a similar color, although a lighter hue. There was a single bookcase, overstocked with scrolls and tomes over Equestrian history and laws. Princess Luna, it seems, is still not entirely caught up with modern time. “Luna?” The pony in question was lying down on her bed, her face buried into the dark blue pillow. “Are  you still sad about what happened between you and Twilght?” Celestia asked, the worry obvious on her face. “yes.” The reply was muffled, from Luna having buried herself into the pillows and sheets. It was obvious that she had been crying for some time. “Luna, I’m sure Twilight meant only the best by en-“ “If she meant the best, she would not have done it in the first place!” Luna cried out in between sniffles. “Come now Luna. Maybe this will cheer you up.” Celestia handed her a scroll which had yet to be opened. What Luna didn’t know is that this was Celestia's own copy. Several other prominent ponies in the city below them had gotten the same missive. “’Tia…what…what is this?” Luna asked as she slowly read through the scroll. “It’s an invitation to a ball. Surely you remember those.” Celestia replied, as understanding struck Luna, “Luna, it isn’t good for you to stay in like this. You should get out there and back on your hooves.” “Will you be coming with us?” Luna asked, though it was more of a request, so she wasn’t completely alone; she still wasn’t sure about it. “One of us has to be sober enough to handle court and raise the moon and sun.” Celestia thought to herself a moment, “No, I shall stay here. You need to go enjoy yourself.” “Well…if you say so ‘Tia….” Luna hugged her sister tightly, but there was still doubt in her voice. “I had a dress and mask brought up here for you. I hope you find them to your liking.” Celestia said and winked to her sister as she walked out. “And don’t forget to have fun!” She added, though something about her tone suggested that it was the end of the conversation and Luna was going. Luna sighed as she stood up. Her mane was an absolute mess, and her eyes looked even worse. She groggily walked over to the washroom down the hall, her hooves making that distinctive "Clop....clop...clop.." as she went her way. She spent about five minutes getting her main into its normal look, and put on a slight bit of make up to make her eyes look a little less red. By the time Luna returned to her room, the dress had indeed been laid out across her bed, along with the mask her sister mentioned. Luna couldn't help but admire the dress. The sapphires inlaid into the seams made it seems to sparkle the same way her mane did. The dress itself, at the base, was the same dark blue as her mane. It seemed to fit her perfectly. The mask was the same color as her mane, and it sparkled the same way. The dress also seemed long enough to cover the end of her main, as well as suitable and comfortably hid her wings. She still wasn't entirely sure it was going to hide her identity, but if Celestia was so confident that it would make her feel better, then she would do it. For herself, and her sister. //-------------------------------------------------------// Half a Dozen Glasses too Drunk //-------------------------------------------------------// Half a Dozen Glasses too Drunk A/N: Internet is working once more. It was almost the time that she should leave for the ball, but some part of her didn’t want to go. “C’mon Twilight, it’s nothing. I don’t want to go to one of those girly dances anyways.” Spike said, giving Twilight an encouraging, yet slightly over-exaggerated smile. “You’ll be fine.” Twilight returned the smile, hugging her dragon assistant “Thanks, Spike.” Twilight sighed as she turned about and headed out of the door. It was quite a short walk to the Town Square, the only space in town large enough to host an event like this. The entire square was covered by a single tent, which was roped off. Twilight sighed once again as she dragged onward toward the ball. Her dress was impractically long, covering the majority of her mane, and her hind legs. It was almost an annoying shade of orange, yet, it had some sort of appeal to it; it had the trademark of Rarity, which was an overly large amount of gems and stones, making it glisten with the shine that only Rarity can manage. The mask itself, however, was a shade of red, in varying intensities as it wrapped around to the sides of her head. As she approached the huge tent, she could see Rarity standing outside, greeting her guests. She saw Twilight coming back and attempted to hold back a huge grin. “Oh Twilight! You made it! You just look absolutely stunning!” Rarity generously complimented her heart-broken friend. It was mainly to make sure she was feeling better than earlier that day, even if she had over-done it a little. “Thanks Rarity. I would never pass up on something as generous as you throwing together an entire ball for me. How many people are supposed to come?” Twilight asked, her fears and concerns momentarily forgotten in the sea of logistics that intrigued her so. “At least 100 ponies, from all over Equestria…” Rarity hesitated, thinking on the number, “more or less.” “One HUNDRED ponies?!” Twilight repeated, her anxiety about this evening rushing back to her. “Oh Twilight darling, you’ll be fine.” Rarity leaned closer to her friends’ ear “Drinks are directly to the right after you go in. The punch is spiked.” Rarity whispered, a mischievous grin playing across her face. “Uhm. Thanks, Rarity…I guess.” Twilight honestly wasn’t sure how she was supposed to respond to one of her best friends inviting her to get drunk. “Not a problem, Twilight. Please remember to enjoy yourself; for yourself, if not for me.” Rarity practically pleaded, wanting to see her friend happy once more. It was some time later, at least half an hour, before a royal carriage descended from the sky. Certain that it was Princess Celestia, Rarity quickly bowed down as the carriage landed. “Oh Princess Celestia, you honor us wi-“ Rarity looked up, aghast at seeing Princess Luna step out. “P-princess Luna?” She couldn’t believe her eyes. It was supposed to be Celestia. Luna chose to ignore the fact that Rarity was obviously expecting her sister, which ruined her surprisingly good mood. “Please, stand up. The ball has already started?” “Yes, your highness. Right this way.” Rarity said, giving the best smile she could. “Thank you, Rarity. Inviting me was very kind of you.” Luna said, yet hesitated before going in. “Uhm….Y-you haven’t seen Twilight, have you?” She asked. Rarity frowned, both to give the appearance that she has to think about it, and because of the fact that Twilight was inside, “You know, I think she actually stayed home tonight…..I don’t actually think that she’s the type of pony for this kind of thing.” She answered quickly. Luna looked over her should at the library before biting her lip slightly and looking back at Rarity, and the tent, “Thank you. That will be all.” Her confidence slowly grew as she walked into the ballroom. It was tall, at least by a dozen meters. A long table decorated the entire right side, loaded with food and drinks. To the back, opposite the entrance was where a small white mare played music. DJ P0N-3 was her name. The rest of the room was decorated with different light sources, as well as streamers and other party decorations that were trademark of Pinkie Pie. The center of the room was a dedicated dance floor, while the rest of the surroundings were tables. She recognized few ponies there, she was also worried about being recognized, but thankfully, the dress hid her appearance rather well; and nobody noticed an alicorn, but a rather tall mare. Luna walked over to the refreshment tables, and poured herself a glass of wine. It wasn’t long before she refilled it. And then refilled it again, drowning her sorrows in fear in the warming drink. After drinking an amount of wine that she’ll probably regret, Luna looked once more at the crowd, in the corner at a table, not far from her, was a lavender pony in an orange dress that reminded her of Twilight. She seemed to have been there so long, and had been drinking so much that she could barely walk without falling over. “Twilight wouldn’t be the type of pony for this kind of thing. She wouldn’t be here.” Luna was sure of herself at this point that the lavender pony was NOT Twilight, even as she approached this cute and appealing young mare. She was about to say something, and realized there was almost nothing she could think of to say. “Would you mind if I joined you?” Luna smiled warmly at Twilight, who seemed to be attempting to think past the alcohol. “I did come here to meet somepony, not just get drunk. So sure, take a seat.” Twilight decided, still trying to figure out who this well-built mare was. “So, you are here alone too?” Luna asked, breaking Twilight’s train of thought, who decided that the mare in front of here was somepony she hadn’t met before. “Yeah, I was hoping to find somepony to help take my mind off of some of my problems.” Twilight answered. ’Seize the moment, Luna’ She told herself. “Y’know. I could think of a few things to help you.” Luna winked at her suggestively, taking another sip from her glass. “Sounds great! We can go get a room at the hotel.” Twilight said, making sure there was nothing left over in her glass. “Don’t you think we’re taking this a little fast?” Luna asked. She had just meant a little harmless flirting.. “You’re the one who started this, not me. Now let’s head over to the hotel!” Twilight abandoned all rational thought, the alcohol rushing to her head. The princess finished off the drink she had in front of her, letting it fill her with warmth once more. It was still a giddy feeling, and it made her happy. She wanted to say no, that it was a bad idea, but a voice inside her just screamed to seize the night and take control of her life for once. “Okay! Let’s do it!” It was still dark outside as Twilight and Luna walked outside. "Its awfully chilly out..." Twilight muttered, shivering slightly. Luna smiled a little and walked a bit closer to Twilight, hoping to warm her up a little. It was only a few minutes until they reached the hotel, where Twilight went up to the counter and paid for a one night stay. "Second floor, room three. Enjoy your stay." The stallion behind the countered said, handing them the key and going back to looking at a magazine. "Come on, the room is upstairs." Twilight informed Luna, leading her up the stairs. The hallway upstairs was dimly lit, and all the door seemed aged, and the locks showed signs of rusting. Twilight fiddled with the key, trying to get it into the lock properly until she finally managed to force the lock open without breaking the key a moment later. The most noticeable thing about the room they entered was the overly-large enough. It was large enough to comfortably hold two full grown alicorns. Luna looked to the washroom, “Could you give me a moment?” She asked, but didn’t wait for a reply before dashing in and closing the door. She took off her mask and looked at herself in the mirror. She looked so tired and a little bit afraid. “What if I fall in love with this mare?” Luna asked herself, splashing a little cold water onto her face. She shook her head lightly, the effects of the alcohol still taking their toll on her mind. She put her mask back on and walked out of the washroom. She didn’t see the other mare until she looked at the bed. Twilight was there, still fully dressed and waiting on Luna. She was lying down in a rather suggestive pose, whilst still being in her dress and mask. Her head was being raised up by one hoof, while her legs were spread open. Twilight may not have much experience, but she did do a lot of reading on the subject. “We going to get started, or do I have to do all the work?” The slightly slurred and recognizable voice made Luna snap out of her thoughts, giggling a little. She walked over to the bed and climbed in with the familiar lavender pony. A/N: As always, please leave feedback about what I can do better!
