Author's Note

Here have another chapter, while I begin to work on the next. Also I'm trying something different with this chapter. In this chapter we meet the rest of the main cast save for the two princesses, we also meet the main love interest for our intrepid Commander.

P.S. if by the end of this chapter you don't know who the love interest is for out Commander then I would suggest getting glasses.

Ch. 3 The Sky is Falling

(POV Spike)

I run up to my mother and hug her after having been chasing her through the field of flowers on this bright sunny day, we both fall to the ground with me on top of her giggling without a care in the world. I hold my small, scaled arms around her lavender neck as I look up into her loving caring purple eyes with that same motherly smile on her muzzle that she received from her mentor. I return that loving smile with my own just overwhelmed with joy at being able to call my mother Mom and for her to love me as her son as we spend all day doing things I want to do with her making us both smile.

Still looking deep into her purple eyes I say with all the love and warmth that I can give and have been given by the pony I see as, mother, "I love you Mom."

"I love you Mom" I mutter out loud as I roll over and grab my tail in my basket next to Twilight's bed in the library before I open my eyes to find them misty as I recall my dream. My one true dream in all the world, to be able to call Twilight 'Mom' and be seen by her as her son. I feel a tear roll down my cheek as I feel that pit in my stomach every time I think about this topic and how I don't think Twilight sees me as what I am. Instead of seeing me as her son she sees me more like a little brother or cousin at best and sometimes when she forgets about me I fear she sees me as nothing more than her assistant.

I shake my head to stop those sad thoughts as I look up to see her smiling face asleep on her pillow as I slowly begin to stand and stretch out my short arms and legs while letting out a yawn as I do. After my usual stretching, I make my way to the private bathroom of the library across the hall from the bedroom. I do my morning business and wash my hands and brush my teeth followed by a quick shower. After my shower, I head down to the ground floor and into the kitchen turning on the switch for the magic light overhead so I can see what I'm doing.

I stop in the doorway and smile as I begin one of my favorite chores, making breakfast for the most important pony in the world. I make my way to the fridge wondering what to make her for breakfast today and still feeling some leftover emotions from my dream I decide I'm going to go all out and make her, her favorite breakfast of Pancakes, eggs, toast, along with hashbrowns. So after grabbing some eggs for the egg potion and for the 'cakes along with the buttermilk and her favorite jam that I make for her since I learned it from her mother and shut the fridge door to get to work.

After about 45 minutes of working on breakfast, I hear hoof steps coming down the stairs, so I quickly prepare her large mug for her morning coffee just the way she likes it black with no sugar. Soon the hoof steps move into the kitchen behind me as I finish flipping the last pancake I call out "Good morning Twilight" to which she only groaned like a zombie since she hasn't had her coffee yet. And just like a member of the living dead, she shuffles to the counter with her eyes closed guided only by the smell of her elixir of life and she takes the mug and gets a long drink.

"Ahh that's better, and Good morning to you too Spike. What's for breakfast?" I hear her ask as she comes up behind me to see the counter covered in food for her favorite breakfast, making her gasp and ask in delighted surprise "Spike you made all this? Why is it some special day that I forgot?!" She begins to panic so before she can spirit off to the other room to look at her calendar I clamp my claw on her muzzle.

"Twi calm down I just thought I'd make you, your favorite breakfast today. You didn't forget anything." I tell her as we lock eyes and she immediately calms down and gives me a nod to let me know she's no longer panicking and when I remove my claw from her purple muzzle I feel joy at seeing her soft loving smile she gives me sometimes. As I'm basking in the love and comfort of that small smile I smile back and feel her hand ruffle my head spines affectionately. But before long the moment is gone as she gives me a more friendly smile instead of that proud motherly one from moments before as she thanks me and grabs a plate and begins filling it with food. I let out a soft longing sigh as I grab my own plate and begin to fill it with the food as well. As I finish filling my plate I open the overhead cupboard to grab the special shaker with gem dust that Rarity gives to me for free since she can't use the small shavings on any of her clothes.

Soon enough Twilight and I eat in comfortable silence and quickly finish all the food that I had prepared. I open my mouth to ask what she wanted to do today since she left it clear in her schedule in case something came up or some such thing when I'm cut off by a deafening CRAAAA-BOOOOM!!!!! something sounding like a hundred sonic rainbooms all at once. I can barely hear the windows rattling in their sills from the volume of the sound as Twilight shoots up and runs outside with me hot on her heels to find that almost all the ponies in town were out and looking up into the sky behind the library. So quickly turning around we both spotted what had the whole town transfixed as a massive fireball fell from the clear blue sky quickly careening towards the Everfree Forest where, with another ground-shaking crash the object hit the ground sending a huge cloud of dirt into the air as everything goes silent not a singled sound could be heard not one breath for a mere moment in time before the majority of the ponies of Ponyville were running for their homes for cover fearing that the Changelings were attacking.

Soon Twilight is off and collecting our friends and bringing them to the library, well actually she found Rainbow Dash first and had her collect the others like any smart pony would do. And soon we had the whole crew together around the table in the main room of the library as Twilight quickly lays out a plan to go and find whatever crashed in the forest and make sure it isn't dangerous to Ponyville. Quickly receiving a chorus of agreements along with a barely audible one from Fluttershy we all head out and begin the short journey to the edge of the Everfree.

As we stop to let me catch my breath since my legs are much shorter than the girls', we hear a soft humming coming from the direction of the object. As we began to make our way to the crash site which was close to the edge of the forest not even the distance in as the ruins of the old castle, though we kept our ears and eyes open in case any predators were for some reason this close to town. After a short hike into the forest, we came across a divet in the earth left from the object leading a large path through the forest having crushed trees and foliage alike before oddly turning and leaving the object out of sight.

The girls and I begin to slowly make our way down the track dug into the soft soil with Twilight leading with her horn shimmering in case something attacks as we near the crash. Rainbow Dash is surprisingly quiet and more reserved in this situation when we come to the end of the straightaway we round the bend only to stop as all our jaws drop at what lay in the newly made clearing.

There standing tall and proud was some sort of futuristic-looking ship with a sleek hull and two wings sweeping back as we slowly take in the ship I noticed that it looks like some sort of aquatic predator and was a little intimidating with the two fins sticking out the front with its silver sheen with shiny black paint job adding to the air of danger. On the side of the craft I spy some lettering, reading it out loud softly I say "Normandy SR2" before my wide eyes trail along the smooth edges towards the ground where something like a ramp seems to be open. But before I can take in more details I finally notice the fully armored Dragoness standing under the front of the craft wearing blue and silver armor covering her whole body.

I blush as I find myself staring at the dragoness in her tight armor that hugs her body so closely it looks like a second set of scales, showing off her large breasts and wide child-bearing hips with her shapely thighs and legs that seem to go on forever. I feel a heat stirring in my loins at the beauty standing imposingly before us as her large wings were folded against her back and her tail curled around her talons to keep it out of the way. The others seem to have noticed the goddess of beauty as well though they seemed to not be as entranced by her form as I was as my eyes drank in her sexy body and I can make out her large blue eyes through the visor of her helmet seemingly locked onto my own as we stare into each other's souls and I feel my heart skip a beat as her eyes light up. Her eyes seem to glow with an overabundance of joy and I can just tell that she has a massive smile that would give Pinkie a run for her bits.
